How To Guide Xiaomi Smart Pen firmware update error - Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

Good evening all,
From 2 days I'm trying to update my Smart Pen, but always I got an error.
Also I was looking on xiaomi.cn but method with turning on and off WiFi and Bluetooth location doesn't work.
Maybe somebody here met this problem too?
FIX:
If someone will have the same problem, just unpair all devices, especially headphones and gamepads also Smart Pen itself
After that reboot your device, and re-pair Smart Pen, open Settings -> Stylus & keyboard -> click "Check for updates" -> deattach stylus and start updating.

1. Disconnect all Bluetooth device, even Stylus and don't attach
2. Turn off WiFi
3. Reboot device
4. Re-attach stylus and wait for connection, make sure that only Stylus are connected
5. Turn on WiFi
6. Open Stylus & Keyboard settings > Update firmware > check for updates > Update
PS.: You can try disable Option from screenshot, I found it helped someone

Didn´t work for me aswell....

I had that too, you guys didn't remove the pen from the side before before pressing the install update did you? just reboot the tablet, follow the same steps as above. But for step 6. Open Stylus & Keyboard settings > Update firmware > check for updates >detach pen from tablet > press Update.
Thats how i got around it, hope it does for you guys as well

But in my the problem is in the pen and the "K81 CS(DFU)", need to find a way to reset the pen or something else to remove from the DFU mode

Does anyone have solution for this problem? Please let me know.

I found the problem. Location setting was turned off. Turn on location in location settings.

Ok, I have followed the previous solutions and various versions of such solutions.
I think I have a newer solution to try.
The pen has a bluetooth option for sharing contacts. This was not enabled - security, why will the pen use my contact details???
So, I removed/ unpaired my pen. Reconnected and this time added the contacts sharing. Possible that I could have simply ticked the contacts sharing???
This time when updating, the bar along the bottom of screen appeared and the pen updated.

So my problem is that i can't clcik install, when i am installing some APK from card.

I have restarted the device, allowed unknow sources etc. It happends after updating on Android 2.3.3

Does it happen with all apps or just with one?
I have tested it with about 10 apps.
Installing over USB cabel with HTC sync is working.
Also installing apps from market is working, but i cant install (cant click install) apk from memory card

I was using LightSaver 1.7 app and didn't know it messed the "Install" button up. After searching all the web found the answer here.

I know this is a little old but it was my first result when googling the problem so wanted to say thanks and add that, in my case, I had the "Rounded Corners" app running and this caused the problem. I stopped that and was then able to hit install.

No, it helped only for a while. It doesn't work now
first try taping on other tabs, and than install.
Or scroll to the end of permissions (looks like intentional buyer protection) than it should be available.

Do you have any brightness afjuzting application? If yes then you will find screen filter in that application settings

Bumping because I just had this same problem with a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 international from Telcel in Mexico running stock ROM.
I literally didn't even know of the existence of Screen Filter until now, so what worked was stopping every single app that was drawing overlays: Facebook inbox, GO Power Master, SuperSU and Battery Mix (it draws a discrete little bar at the top of the screen indicating your remaining battery). Now it works all fine.
The lesson here is that if you can't install .apk's, you have to disable EVERY SINGLE APP THAT DRAWS OVERLAYS, starting with the ones you currently have running, then the ones that could draw overlays: in my case, GO Power Master draws one when the phone heats or when battery runs low, SuperSU pops the kdesudo-like dialog, and Facebook inbox has pop-up Chat Heads.
I had to close out Halo.. That was the app that over layed

Watch faces not centered after update

After the latest update (5.0.1 LWX48P) the watch faces don't center on screen. There's a little space on top and looks like the watch has been pulled down...

Same problem here, altough Facer and Watchmaker don't seem to be affected. What languages do u use on your watch and your phone, there was a language related bug on the previous Wear version. I use German on both.
Reset fix
Well it seems that a reset on the moto360 fixes that... Mine it's OK now.
I've faced the issue with both Portuguese and English.
I'm having the same problem with German language. After changing the language to English and rebooting the Moto, it is centered. Problem reappears after changing the language back and rebooting. Reset only fixes it until the first reboot...

Same problem here.. Really annoying..
I use Italian language and I never had this problem before.. Tried to perform a reset, but after the first reboot the issue reappeared.. So, I've tried to uninstall all the wear apps on my phone, reset the watch and reinstall only android wear and Motorola connect app. But unsuccessfully.
Only a new update can fix it, I guess..

I have the same problem in Italian language.
I noticed that with the face "Semplice" (maybe "Simple" in English), there isn't this problem, but the moto360 is very ugly .
I hope that Motorola will solve the problem in the shortest time possible.
Same issue here, using the watch in Portuguese-BR
resetting the watch fixes the problem.

Try changing the language to English and resetting the watch. It worked for me! I will keep mine in English until they solve this issue!
Ok guys, try this out (it worked when the UI bugged after the first and following reboots, making it look like a square watch):
reset de watch
select your language
on the "Install android wear on your phone" screen, go to the configurations via the physical button and reboot
select your language again and pair the device
After it's all synced again try rebooting the device to see if the problem is solved for good.

I've spent a whole day breaking my head on this when my moto360 was giving me a square UI on the first/second day of use. I've only reseted once and twice after it and it's always worked. Someone should make this solution a sticky somewhere.

How to disable miui optimization? The option is not available in developer option.
It is, or at least it's supposed to, at the very bottom.

I was about to ask the same, i think it's related to some apps not working correctly in the background when the optimization is on, but i'd like to know more ^^.

You have to disable MIUI optimization if you want to install Youtube Vanced, particularly Micro G, on a non-rooted Xiaomi device. That is one of the use cases. Disabling MIUI optimization disables a lot of the "extra" features within MIUI.
My "reset to default values " is grey out and can't click. Any1 else facing the same issue ?

also mine, all the AUTOFILL option in the Developer Settings are all grayed out so sad bleat cant install vanced youtube. tf is wrong with xiaomie noodles.

I did it for this exact reason, though i've tested it and switched the on/off button a few times, and finally activated it again after successfully installing YT Vanced and Micro G, it works fine but the UI needed a long time to appear as fully MIUI again, lots of the interface elements were looking plain Google while the optimization was off, even for some time after I've switched it back on, it was weird. ^^

Maybe I should have mentioned that you only need to disable MIUI optimization DURING the installation of MicroG. To quickly restore the look of interface elements, reboot your device

Oh it's ok it was fun to experiment,
Rebooting the device is always my first idea when i see a problem, we could say i'm an enlightenoob ^^ (I'd really like to try and install a custom rom for the first time with this phone, i need to find an up to date HowTo for noobs with even the advice to start by turning ON the USB Debugging dev option coz i'm scared i will forget a little thing that will mess up everything ^^).
For those looking to install vanced, I ended up installing microg with its latest APK:

Hello, I have experienced that greyed Auto-fill section as well. Here's what I did to fix it. Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Languages & input, then Autofill service set it to Google. Now you can go back to Developer options and the Auto-fill section will be enabled.

Try press the reset value button repeatedly and you'll got the option again.

this happens frustratingly often when issuing voice commands to google assistant at home. I have all the smart lock features enabled. anyone got any ideas? i've googled and enabled all the suggested settings related to this.

I'm experiencing this as well but only when I use one routine I have and I don't need to unlock it the routine runs but I get the message. Weird!

Enabling every single one of those options still doesn't allow, for example, lights in the Home app to turn on. As described earlier, you can initiate the process without unlocking, but it won't proceed until you actually unlock. Thanks anyway.

The OP mentions trying smart lock and it wasn't any help.
Nest Mini is a good suggestion, but personally, I keep my Mini's microphone switch always off. I want to do everything by phone. Maybe the OP will like the idea better. Google should just fix it, though.

I should mention, I had to add my location twice into Smart Lock to work and now it works perfectly.
I also have to ask, what is the point of the nest mini with the mic off? The speaker is very low quality compared to other speakers in its price range.

Doorbell, cheap (I got one for $15 and the other for $20), and my wife is happy with how it sounds just fine.
I've got a Denon receiver for the high quality needs.
Since it comes with a physical switch for the microphone, I'm sure there are others who feel similarly.
i've tried doing the boxing trick with smart lock location ie 4 separate location points around the corners of my home location. I used to do that with my samsung. i'll see if that helps. stupid bug tho that should just be fixed.

Oh, another reason is they're very small, you can buy mounts that make it so you can just plug it into the wall and the speaker is held right there above (or below) the wall socket, so it's out of the way.
adding further smart lock points made no difference. nifty trick from google. this particular facility doesn't fully work, so you're pushed towards buying a nest or two.

Did you add and remove your location more than once? That's what I had to do and now my smart lock works flawlessly. It turns on right when I walk in my door and off just a few feet outside it.

Did you add and remove your location more than once? That's what I had to do and now my smart lock works flawlessly. It turns on right when I walk in my door and off just a few feet outside it.

smart lock in general is working, but I still randomly get asked to unlock my device when issuing voice commands.
I am having this issue as well. Just switched from 4a 5g to a 6, and ever since then I very frequently hear "but first you'll need to unlock your device", even when I never said anything that even sounds like google. Plus it interferes with me using my dedicated assistant devices in my house. I don't want to disable assistant completely on my phone, because I use it while I am out and about, but if it is locked, I don't want it to respond at all. All of the toggles mentioned in the screenshots here are unchecked, yet it still does it.
Same issue here. I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and it does this all the time. Have anyone tried to suggest a "feature request" to Google Assistant team? Maybe this can be a future enhancement as this is such an important and common use case. I'm thinking that if it really want to be secured, maybe it can trigger something like:
sure, but first you'll need to unlock your phone. What's the passcode?​Then if you are driving and can't type in the passcode, you can then just "say" the passcode, etc.

there's the screen im talking about, when you even touch the phone that screen seems to happen for you not to even touch the screen to input the fingerprint.
i've walked the whole config and found nothing.
it's deffinitely NOT the raise to wake, it's somethign else, but i dont know if its even workaroundable otherthan disaling the FPR which i dont want to.
Did a quick search and found there is an ADB command to disable it. I haven't tried it, so I am not sure if it works or if there are any issues that come up after running it, but if you want to check it out here you go

I'm confused also. That just looks like the aod. What's the problem here?
You mean that you have AOD off, and when you touch the screen you want to go directly to homescreen instead of the AOD, right?
The behavior on mine is exactly this one, I would like to have the AOD instead...
That "quick pickup" BUG has been really annoying me. It started with the december update -- did not exist before then. Glad to see a solution for it.

the bug is from nov, or maybe from beginning.
Is this about the phone screen constantly waking up whenever you touch the phone, regardless of whether you have disabled things like Always On Display and all the gestures like "Lift to wake phone"? If so, there's a fix you can use through ADB. I found this solution on reddit, and it's worked perfectly for me. No downsides.

Try going to Settings -> System -> Gestures. In there, toggle the Lift to Check and Tap to Check options.

No, didn't exist at the beginning. Started with December.
While the options are there to deactivate it I find it far too sensitive to the slightest touch sets it off

Existed since my phone arrived in October. Adb command fixed it.

Yes, thanks, I did this, and when lift to check is set OFF, I have the ambient display when I lift up the phone, and this is OK for me. But if I enable Tap to check, the phone goes to homescreen, if I disable it the screen remains dark.
