Question I have a Moto E XT2052 Tracfone. I cant find a way to root the phone or how to get a physical image. Apparently both require unlocked bootloader. Hel - Moto E (2020)

I have a Moto E XT25052 Tracfone. After months of research, I have been unable to find any answers on how to root this phone or how to acquire a physical image. Apparently, everything I am trying to do requires an unlocked bootloader. I even tried to pay to have it rooted only to be told its unrootable. Im actually trying to restore deleted text and data. Have tried purchasing many restoration programs that didnt work. And now am studying mobile forensics. I even purchased a Cellebrite Touch only to find out it doesn't support the Moto E and if it did ..bootloader stills needs to be unlocked to acquire physical image. Any help that will actually work would be greatly appreciated. I have exhausted myself looking for the answers. Thought its time to seek help.

It's a TracFone variant, you won't be able to do bootloader unlock. No ifs ands or buts. You need a boost, sprint,TMobile,or Metro variant for that. Or factory unlocked

No, the data is encrypted, even if you unlocked the bootloader, you couldn't restore any deleted data.
Unlocking deletes the encryption key need to use the data.

Dump the emmc chip. And use Recuva to find deleted encrypted files. Unfortunately you need to wait until quantum computing is easy to decrypt it.

Try using a newer version of cellebrite UFED, probably a cracked version. You'll need to wait till quantum computers are available to decrypt it.

[SOLVED] Help to unlock Z5 Premium ?!

Hi there guys! I've got Xperia Z5 Premium (as far as my PC recognize it as such).
It is probbably with locked bootloader, cuz in fastboot it gives me error : <remote:failed command not allowed>
BUT i do not have access to the menu. I found the phone in one mountain near a hut, so far i decidet to try flashing it, but it seems bootloader is locked. Phone is locked also with pin code.
The usual methods i found need IMEI, which i do not have. If i open it, is tehre IMEI number ?
Is there any way to flash it or get the IMEI?
PLS guys, don't bother ****talking about stolen device or such... If anyone recognize it, come and get it.
SOLUTION that worked for me : https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/general/how-to-tottaly-unlock-xperia-z5-premium-t3585640
if you have find that device in a hut. its probably better to return to authorities! the owner might have valuable data in it! atleast try tracking down the owner!
however you can still flash the device via FLASHTOOL using flashmode / original STOCKROM only and you can keep the data also alive by just excluding wipes in the flash firmware area.
once booted try to find the owner info and return the device!
i
Hi. I work in that hut, it is in ski resort, so you can imagine how many people are going thru there. 2 months, phone was ON and connected to WiFi. No sign that someone is looking for it.
There is no owner info on the lock screen, so.... And where i live, authorities are worst than thiefs, so, that is not an option. As there is no IMEI or other info on the phone itself, i think it is unable to find the owner! Also it is foreign sim card in it, but noone calls or text.
EDIT: I've used both flashtool and fastboot, but no success. In flashtool it says "Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked" , in fastboot > Failed(remote:command not allowed)
So, is this a one nice BRICK with clock on it ?!
Isn't there any way to force flash or unlock screen or bootloader ?!

you cannot just simply unlock the bootloader like that. you have to request SONY to send you unique keys and these used as password in order to unlock you bootloader! ( i.e. if the device is NOT SIMLOCKED from the origin country)
-- unlocking bootloader means LOOSING your DRMKEY/TA BACKUPS ,
please make your self aware of all the circumstances!
I have key to unlock bootloader from SONY. May be option in phone menu is restricted so this stop apps from flashing :/
I know about all circumstances.
So far i've flashed OEM rom, but now it ask for google account that was previously used on that phone, which is annoyng. Sony is copying apple or what ? Wtf happen with our android devices

it will remain mystery to me that how did you manage to have imei number of the device while phone was locked---- anyways
while device is open , goto dialer and dial *#*#7378423#*# then goto service info >>> Configuration and check "BOOTLOADER UNLOCK ALLOWED:" if it says NO then sorry, this device cannot be BOOT UNLOCKED. better to return it!
the previous google account prompt is because the old user data is intact. perform CLEAN FLASH , wipe EVERYTHING. (just tick the boxes as shown in the image (FLASHTOOL FLASHMODE , FIRMWARE SELECTED)
and a Big NO to sony copying Apple. and nothing happend to android devices! you can have easy go devices like huawei/lenovo/alcatel/(even samsung) etc. their stockrom can easily be xploited and kingroot supports various of devices under those brands. however Kingroot removed SONY from their website after Android 5.1 since they could not bypass SonyRIC from Android 6
I've got imei thru Flashtool, Emma, there it showed me Imei number.
This option with the code in dialer may be usefull with older android version, now it is unable to use it thru emergency call, since i do not have access to dialer itself.
I performed clean OEM flash thru Flashtool, wipe everything, but account lock is still there.
I do not know where to return it! It is foreign phone. I wait 2 months for someone to call or look for it. I work in ski resort and almost every day someone found lost phone. If i return it to police, they ouldn' do anything about it. Will sell it for 20euro probbably. I have friend in police department so i know what is going in there.

Is an unlocked bootloader a security vulnerability?

I'm not a developer, just an enthusiast. Trying to understand if having an unlocked bootloader causes my device to be vulnerable to fastboot attacks? Or is my devices data still encrypted as long as i have a password? I know booting into my twrp recovery requires my password before decryption.. but can't they just fastboot boot a twrp image and gain access to my data somehow? or no? Can someone with knowledge explain?
If they have your phone in their hand yes it is a risk. They have access to all it's contents.
How hard is it to relock your bootloader? My bootloader is unlocked and my phone was rooted (i seem to have lost my root somehow maybe through an update). I am considering relocking my bootloader so that I can try Android Pay. Is this possible and is there a tutorial?

Of course there are tutorials, tons of them. One quick note, you should flash the latest factory image while you are unlocked to make sure everything is fully stock. No reason to save the data, just use flash-all, since relocking will wipe it all anyway. You could also just flash a kernel such as Elemental to access Android Pay.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably just flash the Elemental kernel and leave the bootloader unlocked, thanks. I seem to have lost my root, would I need to be rooted. I really rather not have to wipe all my data.

No need to be rooted. Just boot to twrp and flash the kernel. AP with then work I believe. Try it out, I'm locked so I can't say for sure but on my 5x it works.
Doesn't Android Device Manager (or something there of) have some protection against lost/stolen phones. I recall reading that once you have your Google account sync'ed to the phone, you will need your Google account password to restart the phone even after a factory reset.

This is easily bypassed. It will keep the honest people out, but with minimal effort someone could get past it.

Here is the Android feature I was referring to about needing Google account's password:
Factory Reset Protection (FRP)

Am I correct that this statement "If you have Developer options turned on, you can also turn off device protection from your device's Settings app Settings. Tap Developer options and then OEM Unlocking" relates to bootloader unlock? As such, if unlocked bootloader then this FRP isn't active? Can FRP be turned on with unlocked bootloader?

These coolicool phones always come with the wrong firmware install, the simple solution to that is to flash the correct firmware which is plain old RETAIL. Solved. That's for anyone who might have or end up with one of these phones.
As for your phone and since you're in the situation you are I'd flash VZW pie. That isn't the correct firmware for your phone, but you've got a locked BL with VZW on it now and nothing is working. Since your ultimate goal is to flash pie anyways, that's what I'd do. Maybe that will clean up your system enough to enable oem unlock. If you can get your BL unlocked, then you're half way there. Surely by now you've realized that you haven't got many if any options.

You shouldn't flash firmware from other variants like att, etc. However, if you're able to flash those firmwares and not get any permission denied errors then your bootloader is unlocked, which is good. If you have NOT flashed a pie firmware, good, do NOT do it until everything is up and running and you're sorted. If you have, then you'll need to use pie firmware to fix it since once you flash a pie modem there is no going back to an oreo modem.
Run this command from bootloader/fastboot mode and post back your output.
PHP:
fastboot getvar all

Question Watched the Unbricking of "flashing_locked" Motorola G40/60

A month ago I bricked my G40 fusion. It was in "flashing locked" state which meant I could not send any commands over fastboot.
EDL mode was of no use as there were no QFIL files available for the phone.
I paid a tech to bring my phone back to life but I do not know everything he did. I am posting what I know about the process. I understand that repair techs are dependent on income from these situations so understand that I am only posting about the limited things I know.
Process-
Phone was kept in fastboot mode(flashing locked)
MotoflashPro was used to gain information on device status.
Accessed MotounlockGsm.com through CMD(BAT file) and used usb over server to connect phone to it.
Thingamajingy happened and phone now entered "oem_locked" state.
used motoflashpro tool to flash stock rom
booted to recovery
hard reset phone
reboot.
Phone now works like before. No bootloader unlocked warnings on startup. Tech said custom roms should no longer be flashed and phone needs to be used as it is now.
My phone is Indian variant but Indian rom failed to flash. Global retail rom was flashed and works just fine.

Nope, sorry. As you know, unlocking the bootloader wipes data, and the only thing that -might- be able to recover your files would be forensic data recovery.
Good luck.
I have my old note 9 that I want to do the same thing with. If bootloader needs unlocking how can I get around this so that I can get root but without losing data? Not done rooting for a long long time and this whole bootloader lock seems to be a right pain
I found out the hard way on a 6T a few years back...you can't. Unlocking the bootloader wipes data. Only way around it is back and restore.
