Mi 10T recommended ROM - Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro Questions & Answers

Hello XDA.
As you all can see I'm new to the forum, and also new to Rooting smartphones, I Have a Mi 10T that I'm finally willing to Flash to a custom ROM.
The reason behind flashing is lately I wanted a faster Tether. which means Ethernet Tether is the way to go, but Xiaomi decided not to ship it.
So my question Is, what will I lose (regarding features) when I root (flash a custom ROM) also whats the security concerns that I will face.
lastly. which ROM is best suited for Mi 10T, as I see few popular ROMs out there.
Thanks in Advance.

hello, for the mi10t you have Lineage 18.1 or crDroid, the best for me is Lineage, with CrDroid I have proximity sensor problems. And you don't have to be root.

U don't have to root ur phone if you are just going to use it just as a usual phone. Last time most of the roms had idle drain issue(not sure if they still have the problem). So went back to xiaomi.eu stable rom. Now in Arrow OS Android 12 rom. Screen time is awesome. Few minor bugs here and there.

thank you guys for the feedback. do you have ethernet tether enabled ?
also on Linage OS do i have to root it ?

What ROM to use as daily?

Hello guys,
let's start off, several month's ago i bought Nokia 7 plus just cause for a new contract with the telecom,
due to lack of community custom roms and also able to unlock the bootloader i was a bit done with this phone.
Now my question is what's a smooth, battery friendly and user friendly custom rom to flash on ?
The phone it self feels a bit slow on the stock rom but otherwise it's a great phone.
EDIT : i tried to flash LOS and the device just restart in the boot somehow..

most stable ofcource still oreo 8.1 ( LOS, AOSIP , even Google Pixel ROM ),
I have 2 nexus 5x,
8.1 google pixel rom + shadow kernel, for daily driver ( BLOD condition ), and
9.0 aosip + bitgapps + latest zest kernel for multimedia and entertainment

I have seen that happening after having a non-stock ROM installed and/or rooting it using Magisk. That seems to change the boot image and that confuses Lineage OS (I think).
I solved that by re-flashing the factory image from Google, booting the phone to TWRP recovery and flashing LOS.
Oh, and my daily driver is just Google's latest stock ROM for bullhead, so Android 8.1 rooted with Magisk and with Franco's Kernel. I like to have Xposed available which isn't available for Android Pie yet.

Are there any good ROM's or GSI for RN8P?

Ive tried Cesium Pixel Havoc. No offence but they all have major problems? I find them unuseable. Does anyone know of a rom an can share the link for a rom for RN8P that actually can be used for a daily driver.
I am about to try my luck with Globe rom an Xiaomi.EU
The only thing ive found that works but I do not like Is Miui lol?
(no good for me as tiny status bar that even with a terminal emulator cannot be improved much).
I was hoping someone would take an interest an pick up this cellphone after 6 months but has not happened yet.
The good thing about RN8P is that I have found unbricking quite easy as the bootloader seems to remain permanently unlocked till you relock it.
Just a lack of ROMs
I think you have tried out the GSI roms mentioned on this thread:
"Full Guide on how to Unlock, Root, and flash GSI to Redmi Note 8 Pro"
Did you give AndyYan's LOS v17.1 a try yet?
If I fly over the Redmi Note 8 Pro test report on the phh treble page: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-8-Pro#hardware-support - it doesn't look that bad.
Unlike the custom roms even NFC seems to work. Major bug should be the camera.
I haven't installed any GSI yet because some of them use the Q vendor image. So I was too scared to mess around with it yet
My hopes rely on the custom roms.
They work hard to make progress.
I have tried AndyYan's Lineage OS 17.1 and I think that one worked the best in my experience. I have also tried Havoc OS 2.9 GSI but the battery life on that one sucked.

Xiaomi.eu

Hey guys,
Tempted to install the Xiaomi EU ROM as I've heard it is very good for battery and performance. I have a few questions with regards to updates however. Does xiaomi.eu support OTA updates after the first flash, does it support major software update flashes OTA without the need to wipe data, and does it work with custom recoveries? I have orangeFox downloaded right now but I can change to TWRP.
Thanks
EDIT: Just flashed Lineage, then Arrow, then dotOS, prefer Dot out of the 3, great ROM would reccomend.

Coming from F2 Pro EU ROM it wasn't OTA updates, you needed to manually download and flash via TWRP. That could be different with OrangeFox as we only had TWRP on F2. Even when flashing manually you didn't need to wipe even when going from A10 to A11 as long as you kept on Stable route or the weekly route (I went stable)
I'm tempted by this device since mi-globe ROM is since ca. a week also available. It is based on xiaomi.eu Builds but you can customize the build by removing a bunch of MIUI apps (BugReport, Browser, Weather, Email, LiveWallpaper, File-Explorer) and block the Xiaomi Sync Daemon. See mi-globe FAQ.
I would be interested on any reports and feedbacks of xiaomi.eu or mi-globe users on this device compared to the Stock ROM , I'm particularly interested in the Cam performance (Stock ANX and/or GCam builds).

Hey, I know its not Xiaomi EU but I found DotOS and ArrowOS to be miles better than MIUI, the camera performance isn't great with the pre-installed cam on both ROMs but with GCam PX it's actually very very good!

Thx, I also prefer clean fast CustomROMs over Stock in general, but thaught that at this stage gauguin has not yet such stable daily driver cROMs and until that I would go with xiaomi.eu/mi-globe - without at least those I would not buy a Xiaomi device.
For Custom ROMs I prefer those with Signature Spoofing Support and particularly like crDroid. If I order this device (depends if RN10 Pro does not become more interesting soon) I guess I have to try out by myself Nice to see the community growing here.
EDIT: Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is rumored to have Snapdragon 768G, Amoled, 108 Mpx - so definitely will wait if it gets that and will be availanle at a price point under Mi 10T Lite and will soon get Custom ROMs.

Has anybody tested Miracast (screen mirror) on Stock/xiaomi.eu or Custom ROMs? Seems to be present in LOS 14.1 but not in crDroid 6.x

What are the brick chances on a Redmi note 8 pro? Which rom would you recommend?

I am running a EU (i think) note 8 pro with a global 12.5.7 official rom, it has way too many glitches i don't want to deal with and i wanted to change rom, i once tried and bricked it, i recovered it a bit after and that-s how i got 12.5.7, what's the safest way to mod it and what rom is the safest? I was looking at either CrDroid or CorvusOS, which one would you recommend?
To be fair, I have the stock rom, version 12.5.7 and is the most stable version I ve encountered. I have not considered any custom ROM yet because they all seem to lack behind the stock rom. Sure, you get better looks and the vibe of stock debloated rom. Then again you lose a lot of features, Bluetooth range is abysmal and performance is worse compared to stock. And don't get me started on hard bricking risks. My advice would be to make a full reset and stick to the stock rom.

1/You can find many free unbrick hardbrick videos for Redmi note 8 pro. And it's simple to unbrick (in my opinion).
2/You got brick because you didn't follow flash guide.
Example:
- You flash 12.5.x firmware based rom when you are using Miui 12.0.x
- You didn't format data or format data error
- ...
3/Each custom rom has it own support group in each thread. If you want recommend, join there to ask or try it yourself.
Pixel experience imo is good I used to use ppui but rip

What are your experiences with Arrow OS, Pixel OS or ProtonPlus, how is the experience and is it worth switching to one of the three custom ROM's?

Hi everyone, I've a Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite and I'm currently using Xiaomi.eu. Now I'm switching to another custom ROM and found 3 of then: Arrow OS, Pixel OS and ProtonPlus. Anyone using or have used one of the three, how is your experience with the ROM? Does SafetyNet work with the stated ROM's? Is if overall worth it and lastly which of the 3 is the best choice?
Im using PixelOS right now, it's stable and has good battery life, fast charging also works and SafetyNet also passes, only thing that doesn't work is LDAC / aptX, even with AAC the audio quality is not good.
Alright, thanks for the information!
After doing some research I've chosen for Arrow OS for my Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite but I can't download the newest version because the file is unavailable or removed. Does the method of flashing a older version and then update to latest version with OTA work?
I've just gotten an answer and that is that because build is unofficial the stated method doesn't work.
