Desktop Mode Pixel 3 XL on Android 12 - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

Can you connect your pixel to an hdmi tv other than using chromecast? Saw a youtube vid on Pixel 3 XL casting to a secondary display ONLY by using a certified display link adaptor as opposed to regular type c to hdmi. Desktop mode is enabled in dev settings already.

Screen mirroring?

Will the pixel be able to connect to smart TVs and miracast/screen mirror?
Miracast no. Requires licensing. Google cast of course.

But Google cast only works if I have a chromecast? Like currently I have g5 and u can cast my phone's screen to any smart TV that is connected to the same WiFi and has that capability. I won't be able to that with the pixel?
it should work for you also with the Pixel
No.
G5 has Miracast that now is built-in in most SmartTVs.
Google stopped standard mirroring support (introduced in Nexus 4) - SlimPort for wired and Miracast for wireless - starting from Nexus 6. Thus, Pixel XL won't have Miracast support.
The only option for mirroring is Google's proprietary Google Cast way, that works with Chromecast or Android TV devices (either SmartTV - like Sony and Philips - and srt top boxes - like Razer's, Shield TV, Nexus Player, Mi Box, and a few others).

Chromecast Issues on 8.1?

Hi -
I'm having a weird issue trying to cast on my Pixel 2 XL. Although all my other devices can see and cast to all 3 of my chromecasts (1 Chromecast and 2 chromecast audio), my Pixel 2 XL can only cast YouTube. The home app is able to setup a chromecast, but then either tells me it can't discover the device it just configured, or that it doesn't see it, but this should be resolved shortly.
Home app shows no compatible devices.
Settings > Connected devices shows devices.
All other apps will cast to alternate devices (Roku 4, Roku Stick), but no chromecast devices.
I have called and opened a ticket with Chromecast support, who told me I'm all alone with this issue (search results in general would prove this inaccurate).
Does anyone else have this problem? Fix?
Running 8.1, rooted with Magisk 15.1, flash kernel 2.05.
Yep. Same problem here. No fix yet, though.

I'm able to cast to all my Chromecasts (2 Chromecasts plus a JBL-connected speaker). Sometimes, if I'm in an app and it's not showing the devices I have to hit refresh and they show up.
I just tested it with Plex. I'm on 8.1 using the ElementalX kernel.

I had to shotgun my Eeros, install another router, and place my Eeros in bridge mode to get this to work correctly.
I've always had problems with my Android devices and the Eeros anyway...
Every once in a while my Chromecast won't show up if I open the app I'm going to cast before I change the TV input(even though the Chromecast is powered up). This is rare and closing and reopening the app always resolves it.
Same issue on Pixel XL (2016)
Did you ever resolve this one? I have exactly the same issue. Most of the time my Pixel XL can't see any of my Chromecasts. Occasionally it can see them and sometimes just a subset of them. My old Nexus 5 however can see them fine every time. The only way I've found to get them visible again on the Pixel is to restart the phone, but even that isn't 100% reliable. Very frustrating...
Pixel 2 XL on 8.1.0 -
Will cast via Youtube using the icon, however no devices found when going to settings, connected devices, cast.
Is this still an unresolved issue?

How to use Pixel 2 XL as a Windows 10 USB Webcam?

I would really love to know if there was a way to plug my phone to my computer, using USB 3.0, and be able to tell Windows to use that as a 1080p recording device (with or without audio, that's not important). I have been using "DroidCam" but it's only restricted to 720p.

WiFi display. Or miracast

Display mirror via WiFi
Wireless display to TV.
Mine just blocks out, choppy, unusable..
HDMI out does not work as an alternative using MHL adapter.
Fine on honor view 10.
Anyone else?
Not impressed so far after 1 day.
Also no rsap support
Google chromecast only bro

Miracast ScreenCast DLNA on Android 10

Hi, is there a solution to get the Pixel 3 XL to connect to a miracast lapdock ?
I have a HP elite x3 lapdock that can connect with USB C or miracast to mirror the screen of the phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-elite-x3-lap-dock-stock-note-9-t3834806/amp/
While the Pixel 3xl cannot output the HDMI through USB C ( oh boy...) , I still have a bit of hope to get it to output the screen through the DNLA protocol.
... NO, the HP lapdock cannot use Chromecast and I don't want "always on" internet access to be able to get HDMI output from the phone.
So any of you made that phone cast its screen while on Android 10 ?
As you may know, Miracast was dropped by Google some 3-4 years ago. I remember there being complaints on the N6.
There's a thread in the Pixel 1 forum, restoring the capability. *[Guide] How to Enable Miracast for Pixel

Hello, is it possible to make an update to Android 10?currently it finds TV but restarts as soon as it connects on.
Alternatively, it is possible to add app support in xcast or Localcast?
That's 2 apps connect seamlessly to TV. If we can add the applications of our phone (disney, molotov tv, xciptv ...) it would solve a lot of pr
Thank you
