Question Messages Crashes When Sending Pictures - Google Pixel 6 Pro

With "Chat Feature" enabled I keep having an issue with sending pictures to other users that use Messages. Everytime I do so it seems to always crash the app and will continuously crash it till the picture finally stops trying to send. Only way I am able to is by switching to SMS/MMS. Anyone know the cause or a fix? I am on VZW.

I have tried clearing cache and restarting device but it still refuses to send via "chat" only SMS/MMS. Any feedback?

Man that's an interesting one. I'm on Verizon with no issue so it's not the network. Maybe turn off chat features, clear data for messages and data for carrier services restart and set up chat features again

It's been going for awhile. Could it be an issue with the beta also? I currently use the beta app that's ongoing updates. Will I lose all my texts if I clear data for the app? And what exactly is carrier services?

I run the beta myself so I doubt it. No you won't lose your messages if you clear data. Carrier services is another app that preloaded that helps your phone use your carrier services. It might not be the urinal, but it doesn't hurt anything to reset it and it's known to cause issues at times

I will give that a try and report back thank you for the info! Gonna try it in a few mins

[Q] Notifications not working when phone is asleep

Hey everyone, has anyone else been having issues with Gmail notifications not working when the phone is locked or asleep. The notifications come in a few moments after I turn on the phone, but they don't come in when the phone is asleep. I checked every setting and it seems like it might be a hardware or software issue with the Note 4 that is preventing the notifications to come in during sleep. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this. This was never an issue with my Note 3 and I matched every setting to it and it all seems to be the same.

Update, i called samsung and had them create a ticket, the rep said they have not heard of this issue at all. Long story short if they come up with a fix it will be after 5.1.1 which carriers like ATT have not pushed out and that means it could be a year or longer before it is resolved. They do not work directly with end customers so we are out of luck basically. Frankly for me this is deal breaker and I might be returning my phone and going back to blackberry.

Phone app crashing when trying to view call details

I'm not sure if this is a Oreo issue or not, as soon as I got the phone I updated it to Oreo and wiped it. When I go into my call log and try to view the details of a call, the app crashes non stop no matter what I do. I can go into either Contacts app and look at a contact and get call details there just fine. Anyone have any ideas? I went to the phone app and cleared the app cache and data but its still doing it.
Also, anyone know why Razer duplicated what seems like random apps? Calculator, Contacts?
Can anyone looking at this at least try it and report back? I use call details a ton for keeping track of call time and right now its a huge pain in the butt.
I am reporting in. I have come across this bug. Honestly we should report it on the Razer insider forum....
Alright I'll get on there and report it too.
Yeah, same thing is happening to me as well.
They are wanting me to upload a bug report which I'll be doing sometime later today. The thing that really sucks, the phone app doesn't appear to be listed on the play store so they will have to issue a system OTA, which I'm assuming is going to take longer.
I also just noticed, voicemail notification cause the dialer app to crash. I have 4 voicemails I was not notified about.
I'm almost positive that I've gotten voicemail notices just fine.. but I'll test this later today to see.
Anyone get a fix or update on this?

Are you still experiencing this on O MR1?
All of these issues are fixed according to some users on XDA or the Razer forum. I wouldn't know cause I sent mine back. Hopefully the 2nd one is a little less of a mess.

My phone is not experiencing a problem. My sister, however, started having the problem after upgrading to Oreo and she is up to date and still has the issue.
Very bizarre.
We have cleared cache and data and no change. She is currently using a 3rd party dialer in the mean time.

Google Messages battery drain on 10+

Never a problem on my note 9 but now it's insane on the note 10+. I don't really want to change apps because I like it otherwise. See the pic comparing it to the next highest used app. Also, there's no way I had it open and on screen that amount of time. Anyone else experiencing this?
If you did smart switch, try clearing data for messages.

I have. I am waiting for some results to see if clearing data fixes anything.
UPDATE: cleared cache and data but still draining.
I use google messages and i'm not having this problem at all, so I would say it is likely something specific to you. Best advice would be to uninstall, reboot and then reinstall the app

Any of you not getting lock screen notifications with Google Messenger? Samsung messages work fine, buy G messages give nothing but sound when screen is locked.
Google messages works fine for me as well and I used smart switch to transfer all data/apps from my Note9 to my Note10+. I'm also getting notifications on my lock screen.

S20 just wont get home up or chat features.

i have no idea what else i can do. ive searched everywhere but cant find a reason why my s20, completely updated, has no chat features option in the settings and home up just wont show up in goodlock. im on verizon if that matters
Did you use google messages with the chat features enabled on your previous phone? I used to use google messages on my old phone and when i switched to the s20 the stock samsung messages app would not receive texts that were using the rcs features. But when i installed google messages and activated the chat features all the texts that were pending showed up at once. So now im stuck using google messages. Might be the same issue for you?

So after doing a bunch of different things to fix not getting chat messages what seems to have fixed it was turning off the chat feature on Google messages since that's what i was using cause it worked. Waiting 5 minutes(for it to send the request?) then changing the default messages app to the stock Samsung one. Then changing my sim card to another phone, should say refreshing sim data. Text the people that you had issues with. After like 10 to 15 minutes and verifying that you get the texts, switch back the sim card to your phone and it should now work.
This has worked for me so far all day today. I previously tried resetting phone, deleting contacts, changing sim for a new one and nothing fixed it. Let me know if it works for you.

Question Google's Messages stuck on "trying to verify" in chat features activation menu

Never had an issue with this app doing this before, but here we are. I've made sure my number was correct, and even added the Messages app to MagiskHide (which I've never had to do before). It still is stuck. Eventually it gives up trying to verify, but tapping the button just repeats the same issue again. Any ideas?

It's really annoying I've had this before. What I did I'd clear data cache in the messages app restart phone then do same again delete data cache then open messages app and try again. If that fails then you have to turn chat off for 7 days don't try turning chat on within the 7 days otherwise it resets to 7 days again. It's a right pain in the but.
I wish I had a answer for you. I was having the same issue on stock, switching to global, switching to eu, etc. Just a couple nights ago I installed magisk and no modules and left my phone alone for a bit (maybe a hour?), When I picked it back up I had 10 encrypted messages I couldn't read come in from a friend that must have came in over the past couple weeks. It was just random.

I tried Dale's suggestion, clearing data and cache and rebooting the phone. After a minute it popped up the message "enabling chat features, we'll let you know when it's ready." Checked the settings 15 minutes later, and it said "Trying to verify..." STILL but the button to manually verify was usable.
This sucks.
This had happened to me ever since I got the phone and since my carrier is Verizon, It didn't work right out the gate and tried so many different solutions.
then I read that it could still be linked to your old phone so i put my sim card back and then turned off features and then popped it back to the OP and then just left the messages app run in the background and then it suddenly said chat features enabled.
I don't know if this will help you but it worked for mine.

I turned it off on my old device (doesn't have service anyway). Still no dice. Ugh!!
I've had multiple issues with apps not sending OTP codes or being able to log in completely, and I even think I've had the same issue you are having when I had "dns.adguard.com" set as my private dns setting. Also, if you use AdAway, that could cause the issue. For some reason I have to disable AdAway to use the Amazon app. Weird.

Oh yep, in fact I had another thread about that. Turns out the new AdAway seems to inadvertently block a lot of things. Try adding "*amazon*" (without quotation marks) to the whitelist. PayPal was another I needed to add to the whitelist. I also added Google to see if it'd work for this, but nah... No such luck.

Thanks for the Amazon tip! I was trying to figure it out for the longest time. Even tried the hard way of adding it a long time ago. Just got used to disabling it to use the app or using Amazon through a browser.
It always takes a minute for my chat features to be enabled. Whenever I get a new phone, I always get the message saying "chat features are unavailable for this device" then after a few hours/days, the pop up says that they're ready. I think I leave Messages open in the background. Never had to disable it on the previous device. T-Mobile user here.

Sure thing, glad I could help. If anything, though, you should thank @terlynn4 for that whitelisting suggestion.
In my case this has been going on for a good few days. I've done websearches and researched all the possible causes and solutions I could find, but nothing has worked in my case. Yet. I think the main issue is that I'm not getting the authorization code that Google sends via a short-code service text or whatever those are called.

Usually when I don't receive the code, it's because AdAway or private DNS settings as stated before. But since you're not using any of those, I'm not sure what else would be preventing from sending the code. Is there any way you can use the Messages for Web feature, bring up your messages on PC, send the code that way and see if it comes up on the web?
I had the exact same issue as you, the issue was that Verizon still had my old phone associated with my account. Verizon support asked my for my iccid (16 digit number physically printed on the sim card), and after they associated it with my new phone I received the backlog of all the sms from short codes that I had missed and rcs verified after 15 minutes and a reboot.

I don't think it did. Or would. Still no message on either end. Something isn't allowing it to be sent in the first place, it seems.

I had the exact same issue on verizon, but with a globel version. Wouldnt recognize the phone at all. After calling, they pushed me to tech support. Because the phone isnt in their system, the guy had to take an IMEI from another CDMA-Less phone, and enable the CDMA-Less feature. Then he put my IMEI back. Rebooted, and got 2 days worth of texts, and chat features enabled instantly.
The guy said there's a chance that "cleaners" will comb through accounts and reset it, but if it happens, I just have to do the same thing again.
