Hard brick lg wing fix - LG Wing Questions & Answers

Any one can help me to unbrick lg wing ? Or have edl 9008 loder firehose for lg wing to boot phone back ?

Good luck. We do not have the edl files yet. My LG Wing has been bricked for about 2 months now. I basically have given up on it, throwing it in a drawer and I'm going to hope for some progress on it in the future but I don't have much hope. Mine shows zero signs of Life, can't even boot to Android recovery or LG up download mode

Don't worry, you will be able to get your phone fixed soon

Best way to know if your phone is at least willing to boot into Firehose is to get a USB Cable that has a screen on it and tells you the wattage its charging. If its at 0 or 1 watt, its dead, it will never turn on again without discovering the debugging port or flashing chips directly. This is what mine does
If you get wattage pulled over 10watts, you can know that once we have the firehose files, you'll be able to save the device
This style cable has saved me countless times for knowing if a device is hard bricked or software bricked

Just Mobile Gum Pro - charge failed - HELP needed

Hi guys, I have this VERY STRANGE issue with my Gum Pro and my SGSII. If you don't know what I'm talking about the Gum Pro is basically a larger battery (4400 mAh) that you can use on the go to charge the battery of your device as it was charging with its own charger.
Ok..I always used it with any device I had. Cellphone, MP3 or whatever else neede to be charged when I wasn't home or hadn't any plug available....
Today I got the SGSII in exchange for my HTC Sensation and a while ago I neede to charge it while moving from one room to the other, so I connected it to the Gum Pro and.......nothing....I tried to unplug it and re-plug it in...nothing....I tried to plug it to its charger and it's working fine....I tried to plug it to my PC and again it's charging just fine....I also tried the Gum Pro with an old HTC I have for emergency and even the Gum Pro it's working fine...but if I connect the SGSII to it nothing happens: like it doesn't exist!!
Can anybody tell me WTF is happening??? I don't get it: both the devices work fine, but the can't get along....
Any electrical engineer or technician can give me any advice?? I can run as many test you need...but I really need to get it to work cause I'm often in a situation where the battery is dying and I need to charge it but I don't have any plug around me!!
i use something similar - new trent and it works fine.
Ok ...I searched over the net the product you suggested just to get some info and ran into these 2 usefull reviews which give some hints on the issue:
1-
"This product does not work out of the box with a Nokia N900 as, like many external battery packs, it does not conform to the USB dumb charger specification (the data pins of a USB dumb charger must be shorted before a compliant device will assume that it can draw current in excess of 500mA without causing damage).
Therefore, out of the box, this product does not work with the Nokia N900 or any device that complies with the USB dumb charger standards. This can be resolved by using a dedicated charge cable with the USB data pins shorted, such as the one available from Proporta, but it's a shame it didn't come with one, or with the pins properly shorted such that conventional USB data cables would also work.... [cut]"
2-
"The USB port is not wired correctly!
If you use a normal micro USB cable (rather than those horrible tip adaptors), your phone will only charge at 500mA - the rate of a 'data' USB port. My HTC Desire HD will show that it is connected to a 'USB Charger'.
The New Trent is wired incorrectly; To be a 'charge' port, pins 2 and 3 should be grounded. This tells the phone that it can pull 1000mA from the charger - the HTC Desire HD will say it is connected to an 'AC charger'. ie. it charges in half the time.
So check what cables you're using -- you might be taking twice as long to charge your phone than is neccessary!
2 ways around this - use the flimsy supplied cable and bulky tip adaptor, or use a cable that has itself been incorrectly wired like the one that comes with the genuine HTC car charger. (This cable has pins 2 and 3 grounded -- but remember that it should be the port that 'announces' whether it can deliver 500mA or 1000mA not the cable -- in theory if you used the HTC charger cable in a data USB port on your PC, you could blow the USB port because the phone will be 'told' it can pull 1000mA but the computer's USB port can only guarentee 500mA).....[cut]"
Ok..now would be really nice if anybody with some knowledge could tell us a work around when this situations come up: should I start researching a USB/MicroUSB cable JUST for charging purpose? I doubt I'll find anything similar on the net.... :-/ any other suggestion??
Nobody has any technical knowledge about this issue??
If you have a friend who might have electrical and elettronic knowledge could you please link him this thread??
Just get a cable and short d+ to d- inside the connector towards the phone, problem solved.

What he mean - if you look at a usb-connector, you could see 4 lines inside. The two outer ones, left and right, are used for 5v plus and minus, the two inner one's are data plus and minus!
To tell the phone that it can suck more than the usb-standard 500mv, the two data-lines have to be shortened! So the phone knows, that it isn't connected to a normal usb-port (pc, laptop or so) and it could get more than the normal 500mv from this port.
Sadly, this is a common problem with most after market power supplies and also with this external-battery-loaders like the mobile Gum - the data-lines are not shortened -> phone thinks, it's connected to a laptop or pc -> load'S with a max of 500mV!
If you're brave enough, you could try to manipulate the connector of the Mobile Gum Pro or a usb-cable to have the data-lines shortened out and your phone will load with the max. mv, whatever your phone accepts!
But if yoou manipulate the cable, be sure that you don't use it anymore for a normal usb-connection - doesn't know, if shortened data-lines will destroy anything, but surely it will not work anymore for transferring data!
i bought myself something like this too...V-Tank..have u tried unticking the usb debugging mode in settings>applications>Development?

Allright, I could give it a shot, what I can't get about all this it's that the same cable didn't work if connected to the Gum Pro but worked flawlessly if connected to the car charger (the one you plug into the "lighter" hole)..!!
I mean, surely from the car charger it would have carried much more than 500mV ...so why with the Gum Pro it didn't work out??

Yep, already checked and it's not ticked!
It is really quite simple, the car USB charger obviously internally shorts d+ to d-, so will work with an ordinary USB cable and the phone will indicate "charging (AC)" in settings, about, status. you can achieve the same thing by modding the cable instead of internally in the charger or micro USB connector (with a standard USB cable).
I don't know what this debug suggestion had to do with charging, it had nothing to do with it.

What happens if I try to charge my motherboard with my Nexus 5x ?

Hello, I noticed when I plug my Nexus 5x into the USB-C port of my motherboard (Asus z170-a), my Nexus 5x asks me if I want to charge the other device.
What happens if I try to charge my motherboard with my Nexus 5x ?
Will that kill my motherboard USB-C port ?
Will it explode and burn down my house ? :crying:
Nothing, I think.
USB-C is a bit smart, and there are profiles that forbid this type of odd behaviours.
I tried to charge my laptop (Dell XPS 15) with my phone and nothing happend.
If you fear to burn your house down, don't try, it has no purpose anyway.

it depends. for example does the asus' usb-c port also serve as standard charging port of the device?
the 5x' port and battery is capable of providing quite a bit of energy to external devices. with the use of a usb-c otg adapter i was able to charge another android device of mine, or completely power my external 2.5" hdds, which i wasn't able to with my other devices using a standard micro-usb otg adapter.
in case of a laptop this way of charging probably wouldn't be enough to keep it running, but oh well...
in any case, as long as the usb-c port is properly implemented it should, in whatever way, be capable of processing the external power provided. as for the option appearing on your phone: this _should_ be caused by said usb-c port being properly implemented and communicating that fact (via resistors and checking currents).

Most likely your PC will need power profile 3, 4, or 5 at 12V / 20V respectively to charge properly.
I doubt the Nexus will put out more than 5V profile 1.
Thus it likely wouldn't do anything.
Even if you had 5v devices on the wire, I don't think using a non-removable battery on a $200+ device as a power bar is the best choice, when you can get a dedicated power bar for under $10 (but I understand your question is just what if)

no USB recognition

Hi.
After searching and testing for hours I don't know how to proceed...
I can't access my phone via USB anymore. The phone isn't detected, no change in device manager on Win7. Only Win8.1 says it found an unknown device.
Quick Charge also does not work like before, but normal charging works stable on every cable.
On the phone, no connection info pops up. I had to set MTP in the developer settings. But it does the charging vibration.
Some testing before, the device was detected in about 1 of 10 tryings, but only with the original cable.
But now, this also doesn't happen anymore.
It worked for about 4 times in a row, after I flashed a 20g flashable kdz over the 20d, but stopped working then.
Could the method that activates MTP functionality be corrupted? (in download mode it also doesn't work)
This all happens between updating to mm and now.
The phone is unlocked and rooted. I use an extended battery and a SD card. A reset didn't help.
The pins of the port look ok. None of the solutions I found did help.
Could the controller or parts of the port be destroyed?
Could my Aukey QC 3.0 car charger do some harm to the device? Maybe when being connected while starting the engine or something like this?
Is the warranty for hardware problems like this void when unlocking the bootloader?

Don't know if that will actually help but just give FWUL a try.
Link http://tinyurl.com/FWULatXDA
This is a live ISO where you don't need any drivers etc. If you have a physical defect it will not help but to exclude windows + driver issues it's worth a try

I gave that a try but it didn't help.
I am totally confused, which type of (bad) usage could result in such a behavior...
It also do not detect my Flir One thermal cam anymore.
How can I figure out if it is based on soft- or hardware?
im having a very similar issue with my g4 , it charges very slowly and shows charging from a USB source instead of AC when plugged to a charger, quickcharge stopped working, and my pc wont recognize it.
i think the problem is a damaged usb port

Today I was in a repair shop for mobiles and the guy heated up the internal pins of the usb port with a soldering iron to exclude a problem with the connection there, but it didn't help.
Next would be to electrically meassure the external pins against the internal pins, to be sure there is nothing broken. But I think, I will send it to LG to check the device for the concrete issue.
The guy at the service said, it could be that some of the flashs did destroy the function which calls up the data connection and that they can do a complete reflash without using the usb port.
But... he also said that the diagnosted issue could be out of my warrenty due to the unlocked bootloader.
If you want to exclude the usb port as a problem, it is quite easy to change the usb port for someone with a good soldering equipment. The port itself does only cost a pocket money and there are some detailed videos on youtube for this. good luck ^^

try charging the device while in the power-off state, if it still does not charge try using USB debugging in the trwp mode, still if there is no response then u have to change the charging port

You have exactly my problem. Your usb controller is burned and it can no longer charge with 4-5 volts. It needs more. I can only charge my phone with QC-3, which outputs 8-9 volts, but your rom must support higher than 5v charge. You also won't have any access to PC, including fastboot. And unfortunately, to fix the issue, you will need a new motherboard, which doesn't make sense unless you are on warranty.

So I have Qc2-0 charger.
Are you repair your motherboard from local store
I am in warranty.
But need a locked bootloader to access a warranty back.
Any idea access the computer.
I can't connect to pc via fast boot mode.
No detection is shown in pc.
But otg work's
Clean USB charging port using;
Cotton wool,
Sim card key,
and motherboard cleaner

You can probably install one of those stock roms that includes older firmware (look for official TWRP installable roms on europes fans forum). That should lock your bootloader. Just be careful reading description and directions.

Quick Charge 3.0 and USB C not working

So charging is extremely slow now: max 280mA showing in Ampere app. Tried different cables and chargers(QC3.0 certified), charging speed remains the same.
I can't connect to PC anymore. Windows doesn't even make a sound when I connect the phone to PC. Showing no device.
Headphones connected to USB port are playing only one audio channel.
I've been using LOS 15.1 since last summer without problems, haven't done any updates since. The problem with USB port emerged a month ago and I am almost convinced it's a HW issue. AIDA64 indicates no temperatures over 36°C in thermal section so sensors are working fine I guess.
Anyone tried these charging ports from Aliexpress? Comments indicate that they are not the same as the original.
It really sounds as hardware problem. I asume you already tried with the phone off, and after factory reset and the problem persists.
In my experience, the original lower board have fuses which are expensive and are replaced by resistors on chinese replacements. If you dont want to lose this, try going into a repair shop and have the USB-C port replaced or desoldered/resoldered from the board. Must be done by experienced guy or it will be melted.
I'd buy the replacement board anyway. As long as you don't use crappy chargers, you shouldnt need the fuse too much, and also, the phone have another fuse in the motherboard.
If you have not tried with the phone off, try it. I got the xiaomi wireless charger and it works like crap with the phone on. it disconnects/maintains chage/stops charging A LOT, but if I charge the phone turned off it charges without issues at full power (8-10W according to my USB meter). Maybe is just the firmware being an ass
Thank you for insights. I confirm that hard reset nor charging solved the missing QC3.0 functionality. It's clearly a HW issue.
The whole situation was caused by losing my original charger on a trip and then using certified QC3.0 charger (not from Xiaomi) and unfortunately - cheap Chinese micro USB C cable. I can't stress this more... Never use cheap cables (or chargers) they can literally fry up your port. In this case it was definitely the cable eventhough it worked fine for 5 months.
It seems (from comments) that beside fuses the charging ports from Aliexpress are missing the possibility to transfer data over USB as well. Which is not that crucial because FTP over WiFi is bearable. The real problem that I need to fix is quick charging because with 280mA on Ampere app it takes 5 hours to charge this phone.
The charging port I've bought on Ali is on its way so I will update this thread in a few weeks after inserting it into the phone.
Losing data over usb is quite a problem if you are into custom roms/mods on native miui (which resets the recovery on each update).
Hope that ali's board does have this funcionality. About charging, you can get locally a wireless charger for now, though for me it only charges fast when the phone is idle, using it always just keeps the charge (probably to avoid overheating).
So how the story ends? We're you able to solve the problem?
I had the same issue with my Mix 2. bought a replacement port from Aliexpress and Witrigs.com. As posted on most forums these replacement ports don't support fast charging (in most cases) and no USB data transfer (this is the case with mine).
I had dropped a message on the witrigs.com website to confirm if their supposedly 'OEM' replacement supports data over USB (it looks much more like the original board in the phone that the 'custom' replica one that is half the price).
but I'm not very hopeful of that being the case, given someone has already left a comment on the product page indicating they bought the OEM version and faced the same issue with no quick charging or USB data transfer
Got some problem when i lost my usb travel charger on a trip.
and now my phone was too slow and cant transfer data even if i buy the new authentic from xiaomi store.
i hard reset for 3 times and but no luck.
omg -___-
I know it's old, but I'll let you in on my problem.
I have the Mi Mix 2 and it was happily fast charging until recently. Still the original plug and cable
I have tried all sorts of theories to get it fixed and one person said to charge it while turned off
So I plugged in my usb cable and turned off my phone. Only for it to automatically fire up and go into fastboot. No charging. Just fastboot on the screen
Obviously I can get out of fastboot mode again, but is mine an option change in the settings that needs addressing?
Thanks
