Which version of Android (GSI) can I run on a device with VNDK 27.0? - Treble-Enabled Device Questions and Answers

My plan is to flash a GSI image (LineageOS) for android 9. Specifically the following
- https://github.com/LineageOS/android/tree/lineage-16.0
- https://github.com/AndyCGYan/lineage_build_unified/tree/lineage-16.0
Is there a chance of getting this to run on my device? Please see the attached file for the output of the Treble Info app.
I cannot find any information about the impact of VNDK version 27.0 so any help is much appreciated.
Device info:
- Processor: Rockchip 3399

I have the same issue, only thing I could find out, some features not gonna work, (who know what), if you install a newer vndk you wont be able to return to an older one. Be honest, Project Treble is made for seamlessly update phones, but it is a mess, versions, vndks, legacy phones, A-B-A/B images, etc. it doesnt do what it meant to do.
The XDA forum was a good place to ask questions like this, it was, still remember to get answer about my 10 years old phone, however things really changed over the years. Members change their phones on montly basis, so dont expect any professional answer.

How to become Maintainer for Lineage OS?

Hello,
I want to become maintainer for Lineage OS for specific device (I will buy the device to maintain).
Could someone plz explain me the process of becoming the maintainer and pre-requisites for it?
I had a look at teamoctos/join-our-team/ but it will be helpful if someone explains all those steps in it.

Thanks
I'm not sure about this but however:
First of all you will have to build device tree for that device (I guess that device isn't supported at the moment, if is than you can contribute to that repo on github via pull requests and wait for them to approve change) and that device tree works without lethal bugs. Also you'll need kernel that won't make you much troubles because manufacturer probably published sources (they had to). And when you make it work than you can try to conntact them about joining team, if they accept new devs, because I read somwhere about how to make CM support device officialy they mention only they support devices they own, they not mention anything about joining team if I remember well. It's best that you conntact them and ask I'm sure there is way for that.

Unless a specific thread states otherwise (which will provide you with the individual or location to do so), the XDA Forums isn't where you request this.
Regarding the Official LineageOS, though, the XDA Forums isn't where you request this either, here's the only location (at this time) to where you can find what you're looking for.
1) Go to the following link:
http://wiki.lineageos.org/faq.html
2) Scroll down to the following question (without quotes):
"My device is not officially supported, but I’d really like to give LineageOS a try. Can you support my device?"
3) It is there that you'll find the information you're looking for as well as the E-Mail address to where you can send them the information.
Good Luck!

Currently on Oreo, December 1st patch

Hey team,
I'm very new to working with smart phone bootloaders and flashing different ROM's. Currently I have only ever played with ADB a little bit, have never come close to flashing another ROM/firmware, let alone rooting.
Here's the thing, is that I've very interested in running a couple operating systems on my S7 Active, however it seems that if I am on Oreo, this process becomes much more difficult.
I come here for 2 reasons, first is that I need points to ask questions in other forums. I figure here is the best place to start on getting answers and where to look for information.
My second reason is so that I may get some help / information on how to get my S7 Active set up for using at least 2 operating systems - Regular Oreo, as well as Android's PostMarketOS. I am a new user, so I cannot post a link, however you can find it at reddit r/PostMarketOS. I am fully aware that I will likely need to build my own version of PostMarketOS. I'm not here for help with this, so much as I am here for getting help to prepare my S7 Active for this process.
So, I suppose to start, my questions are as follows:
1. Am I stuck with Oreo?
2. While I have unlocked OEM in developer settings, I feel that there's more to unlocking the bootloader - is there information for Oreo on how to do this?
3.I understand that there is root for Android N (7.0), however I have read that you cannot downgrade to (7.0). Furthermore, I am not sure if this would even be necessary.
To give a bit more information, to create the PostMarketOS for Android, it must be created using Linux, and I have a link to post, however I am a new user, the guide for creating PostMarketOS is on the sidebar of Reddit.
Hopefully I can get some help, but I would be happy with just some resources on where to go about starting/finding information. I'm a total noob in this regard, but I am a quick learner and motivated to get my S7 Active to not run so laggy... Plus it would be fun to use 2 operating systems
If you need any other information, I'm happy to find and give it.

Any AOSP (de-googled) Secure ROMs out there?

Yes, I made a mistake... I was tired of my completely locked and unsupported Samsung S7 and wanted something sleek that would be rootable/ROMable - so I purchased the OP7T after only a cursory web search for root/roms (and quick XDA threads). Saw a few ROMs posted so off I went to eBay... Yes, I beg forgiveness and patience from now on in this post. My unsupported Samsung was still able to get a "patch" for contact tracing... I love the OP7T, it is fast, and Oxygen is a refreshing change from my past OEM Firmware on LGs and Samsungs (fortunately was able to TWRP and Lineage my old LGs). However what I really want to do is Brax the phone (and yes, I know the consequences, but the whole point of MODing a phone is it gives the user/owner a chance to make their own choices). I want to install a ROM without GAPPS, no google at all. FDROID, and open source only if possible. I don't game on my phone, it is a communications tool only. I truly wish I was smart / talented enough to build out a ROM on my own but I am dependent on those who often reside here for options the OEM and carriers will NEVER make available. If anyone has any suggestions for this 7T they would be greatly appreciated. The frustrating part is that a lot of the listed MODs/ROMs I found thus far include GAPPS. There may be a way to remove them from the custom ROM, but again I am not a DEV. I have some linux skills, but those are all sys admin, not coding by even the lamest of stretches.
Again, to any forum member/power user/or dev that responds - thank you for even taking the time. I know this is a noob type post. But I am desperate to try and accomplish this task after a hardware investment that may have been misguided. With this year (in the US) going as it has, I want big tech out of my pocket - literally.
Thank you for your time,
XGhost

You also have MSM xtended with out gapps. Many options.
Ok, looking deeper and finding more hope than originally found. Thank you for the input and now I just need to take the plunge and start digging into the phone and the firmware. Unfortunate about TWRP, but there are plenty of good options to manage it without that. Take care!

What works it usually takes to make LineageOS support new device?

Like other Android OS, LIneageOS need extra work to make it support certain model of device.
Is there any detailed list about what works should be done to make LineageOS working on new device.
If the official ROM of this new device is provided, is there any technique to utilize the component(drivers) from the official ROM and import them to LineageOS?
Is there any detailed Tutorial/Documentation or Textbook to teach newbies about how to porting the LineageOS (Android) to new device?
im interested in it is well ..
i whant to contribute to develop new device ..

Hi,
I'm interested too. Ii want to contribute.
Any guide?

Gen5W for HKMC root access

Hello guys! I am a bit tired today to explain all the details, we will be writing a better post soon. But for now this will have to suffice.
TL; DR;
We are going public on how to hack the headunit for HKMC vehicles. This applies to pretty much all Gen5W models, requires no soldering, and yeah, its fun I guess.
This is pretty much for devs tho, so if you expect to run youtube with this today, sorry, but not yet. It will be possible tho, but so far we were focused on getting the access.
What is all this about? This project aims to give users ownership of the headunit on their cars. You paid for your car, you own it. That includes its computers. With this project we aim to provide you with the ability to extend your stock functionality on certain korean models.
We are not on this for commercial gain, however, you can use whatever we've learnt so far to build and sell CFW if you wish, that is up to you. I only ask that you contribute back and share your findings. Basically, open source mentality between us here. We all want the same at the end of the day, which is completely owning our cars and the systems on it.
We do not sell the access to the hack.
We do not sell the tools to get access to the system.
We share our knowledge.
You can:
Build and sell your CFW using the tools / knowledge that comes from collaborating. (Please, strongly consider sharing how things are done so we can attract more developers when we decide to go "public")
Also, consider safety first. Let's try not allow non-technical people to drive while watching netflix. But this is completely to your discretion.

hello good friend. Do you have any information about HU Gen5w using Motrex's android 9.0 backend?

Just to be clear, did you extract a key already from the unit? I haven’t included any decryption binary nor key on the gitlab, the files you see there (DecryptToPIPE & the .DER file) are just placeholders, read te contents of those files for details

American Units actually use Android, but I don’t think it’s that latest android tho. In any case i know somebody else is working with android units but I don’t know how far they are

Ah, that's it. You need to dump headunits software first.
So decryption key is uniq for each car?

Not entirely sure. Nobody has yet found the key besides me (or haven’t spoken up) so I can’t compare if keys are unique across units. But the key in your unit will be able to decrypt all gen5w updates up to date. To get the key you don’t need to dump the whole software, it’s enough to just rename a program in the unit, put a shell script where that program was , once called, get the args passed to the script (you’ll have one of the args as a path) copy the content of that path to your usb and then lastly call the original program so the process works as expected for the headunit. (Man in the middle).
The reason we don’t share the key (or the DecryptToPIPE software) it’s because that might be copyrighted material, and we are avoiding any copyright infringement.
I don't have AppNavi update option in Engeneering Mode > Dynamics > Navigation.
There is no Config section. I checked the rest with no luck.
210513 firmware. Should i update to 220210?

Yup. You need to update to the latest.

Hello guys, I want to tell you my story, and I need a little help from you also :
My car : Kia Sportage QLE Gen5 navi, updated to sw : 211029 fw : 210930
After update , no way to find pin for engineering mode, only dealer mode with pin 2400 and 7,3,1 volume combination. But with navigation hack, showed in this thread I managed to enter engineering, and managed to make adb to work on ethernet, but the only way to do adb to work was by installing an USB to Ethernet converter into USB, connect and ethernet cable between converter and my laptop. Don't know for sure if it is necessary or not, but after installing everything ( usb, cable, etc) I made an Reset to factory . Connected the wifi of unit and phone to house router, and finally was able to install apps with Easy fire tools.
I manage to install boot hack and now when I press 2 times on SETUP is going to engineering menu, and from there I can access all other applications that I have installed ( file manager, soundabout).
So I hope someone else who wants , can now get adb to work and install what he wants.
Now I want to ask the ones who already managed to install apps, if they can help my with some apps that are tested and working OK : I need an IPTV software, I installed GSE IPTV, with was working ok before upgrade, but now it does not start playing, only loads m3u list, you can select channel, but .. not start. Youtube working has anyone? I installed an older version, but it say it can not work without google services. And last, is there a way to add shortcuts to apps in oem menu? or a way to quick access them? or something like task manager? not to be forced every time to go to all apps and start app from there?
Thank you, end if someone needs more help with adb to work, and did not understood complete what I said, please fell free to ask, if I can I help with pleasure.
I downloaded the my20 update for xceed, but the installation checks update files section gives an error at %30 and I still could not update. Can you help me?
New updates on this guys ? Is this project abandoned ?
