Repainter brings bring customizable, dynamic Material You theming to any Android 12 device and ROM. Please read the entire description — ROOT MAY BE REQUIRED depending on your device and Android version!
Customize your theme with Repainter:
 • Choose colors from your wallpaper, or pick your own color
 • Change colorfulness and brightness, including pure "AMOLED" black
 • Advanced controls for colorfulness behavior and color targets
 • Preview themes and color settings instantly
IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTES
Repainter works best with root, but some functionality may be available without root (using Shizuku):
 • Samsung devices: All features are available, but a reboot is required to apply themes.
 • Pixel devices: Only custom color picking is available. Other customization is not possible.
 • Custom ROMs with Repainter support: All features are available, with no caveats (similar to root).
 • Other devices: Root is required.
If you have the December security patch or older, all features are available without root on all devices.
With root, all Android 12 devices and ROMs are supported, including full support for Samsung One UI, OxygenOS, Asus ZenUI, and Sony. Other skins may only be partially supported.
DO NOT INSTALL THIS APP on MIUI or Funtouch OS if you are expecting the system UI (notifications, settings, first-party system apps, etc.) to be themed.
Repainter themes the system-wide Material You color palette on Android 12, which is used by Google apps and other third-party apps that support Material You. However, because some manufacturers use their own colors instead of Material You colors, the system UI may not be themed on some skins. Samsung One UI, OxygenOS, and Asus ZenUI are fully supported.
Repainter · dynamic themes - Apps on Google Play
Customize & share dynamic Material You themes for Android 12+. MAY NEED ROOT.

Congratulations!
Any chance for information regarding it's compatibility with the pixel 6 /pro

It works fine. I've been using it since it was released.

I have used it as well. It should be noted that not all functionality is available for non-root devices if you are on the January security patch or higher. Google patched the exploit this and other apps like it were using. If you are rooted all features will work.

Basically there is NO/Zero extra functionality available without root, nothing that is anything different than stock wallpaper/colour picking system out the box/stock via the Google monet colour picking system.
With or without the app you can achieve the exact same colour options and nothing different.

I just feel that that should be made clearer to any prospective purchasers of the app that don't have root. It offers... Nothing/Virtually Nothing... extra without root.

New update and rootless options are back
Highlights:
• Quick, guided one-time setup for unrooted Pixel devices (much easier; no need for Shizuku)
• New theme styles for unrooted Android 13 DP2, unrooted Samsung (One UI 4.x), and rooted devices

I originally purchased Repainter for my unrooted S21U, it works truly great on that device. Lots of customization options.
Not really worth it on unrooted Pixel though, unfortunately...

Does this app allow an AMOLED black theme for google settings and all pixel app backgrounds, notifications, etc.? I don't like the material off white based theme of the 6 pro.

There is a "Pure black background" option: "Use a pure black background in dark mode instead of a dark gray"
Unfortunately, on Pixel devices, it requires root.

This app would not open on the March update, as it would not verify the license, even after I paid $4.99. Unfortunately I had to request a refund.

Extremely limited app without root

This is a cool app, but a bit expensive for what it can do.

Thanks for letting me know!

This app and the Dev are total bull****. I paid for a years worth of the Pro service and it worked for exactly ONE day. The morning of my second day, it had reverted all my settings and doesn't have Pro unlocked anymore, but when I tap on either of the 2 Pro options for subscription Google play tells me I'm already subscribed.
I've emailed the Dev 3 times over the past week and he hasn't even bothered to respond to me, so now I'm going to file claim with Google over the app and the Dev, plus I'm filling report with my bank for the Dev committing fraud and not delivering what his app promised.
It's not the cost that's got my so upset, it's the wilful ignorance towards his paying customers.
Total fraud, total bull****.

Wow, that's a pretty substantial update. Can bootloader be unlocked now?
Edit, just read the other thread, great news, it seems unlocking is now allowed!

I have no doubt we will get nougat. Keep in mind that the GS7 & 7 Edge don't have Nougat released yet. Also it seems maybe the Camera is improved abit with the update. Really a solid phone for $299, loving it.

I am very excited to hear all of these. Mine is coming tomorrow.
I've watched LeEco Le 2 can survive water test for at least a minute (maybe similar protection [IP53] that Pixel phone offers) so that will be a bonus from this awesome phone.
is x720 compatible with this update or should i wait some more?

Widgets crashing on restart
Has anyone else noticed certain widgets crashing/not starting on reboot? I've noticed two particular widgets not starting on reboot:
1) Battery Widget Pro
2) Dark Sky
Netflix WAS added. Sucks that you can't uninstall, just disable, but the bigger point is let US decide what we do and don't want, not you Leeco.

[ICON PACK]
After hours of work, Complete One UI icon pack have just updated to version 2.0. New version brings the interface closer to One UI look and also add more than 100 hundred app icons. Enjoy!
Changelog:
New Complete One UI app logo
Redesign interface follow One UI style
Add more app icons
[SUBSTRATUM]
[UPDATE ver 2.1]
Changelog:
Separate Mods and App Icons to two different apk
WARNING: Uninstall all the icons before install this update
I have just updated the Substratum too - add more app icon. With substratum, there are some bonus overlay, try if you like it, but not guarantee it will work on all devices. If it does not work and crash, go to overlay manager and uninstall the overlay.
Substratum cannot change all Samsung system apps (phone, messages, calendar, video, music …) because they are overwritten by Samsung Theme Store, so best way to change these system app is using [THEME STORE] version.
Note: on Pie devices, some app may crash if apply app icon overlay, it may be a bug. I contact Substratum for more information.
For now, we can workaround by install the overlay, then uninstall it, the cache of the icon still there so you can see the icon change in launcher but not system wide.
List some apps may crash on Pie:
airpay
cgv
facer
grab
spotify
discord
pinterest
smartview
soundcloud
twitch
twitter
xda feed
utorrent
[THEME STORE]
Theme store version is only support Oreo or below. Compare to [ICON PACK] and [SUBSTRATUM] version, [THEME STORE] version is the most effective and fast way to apply Complete One UI icon pack.
For Pie, the trail time limited is different with Oreo so new to find a new way to trick it.
[TIPS]
If the icons don't change after install substratum overlays, try to switch screen resolution in display setting to HD+ then re-install the Substratum overlays then switch back to your desired screen resolution.

Sorry, i can't help with that. I'm not a developer. I have given up as i have seen that i must pay a fee to release a free app on the play store.
However I have found a way for me,to use your icons. I extracted the *.png files and use them as icons with Action Launcher. It seems to work at least for me.

Hi, really great work with these icons. I was just wondering if you were working on expanding this project into a fully fledged icon pack?

Thanks! I wish that I can turn this to an icon pack. I just good at design in it but not developing. For now just using Substratum to apply the icon, previously I use Samsung Theme, but in Pie the trail not stick so I'm finding solution for that
Hi, thanks for the quick response! I just wanted to let you know that developing an icon pack is not that difficult if you already have the design skills, which you certainly have, as there are plenty of online tutorials that are easy to follow, and an icon pack like this would generate some attention if it was on the play store. Furthermore, you would be able to use the theme.galaxy app to apply the icon pack directly as a samsung theme, removing the substratum issues on samsung. Anyway, if you could find the time to develop this project further, you could also gain some money doing so. I know I would pay for this

) Thanks for suggestion. I will do it if I have time. As I say Samsung Theme on Pie having the issue is theme outside the store will be revert after 10mins trail. Even theme.galaxy cannot make it. Oreo is working fine but not Pie. I am on the way to publish Galaxy Theme for this icon pack for Oreo
Looking forward to it! Also make sure to properly set the icon masking on the theme store release if you can so that unthemed apps remain without a white background.
I'm back!
As promise I have just made a very first build of Complete One UI - Icon pack so you can apply it to third-party launcher. Feel free to report bugs

Not all substratum themes are A12 compatible.
I use Swift Dark to theme {instagram, twitter, whatsapp} to make them have the same dark look as the Google apps in dark mode. The 3 overlays work fine although strictly speaking the theme is not (yet) compatible with A12.
So you mileage may vary depending on the theme.
The developer of Liv dark has made all of his themes compatible to android 12
Iris Monet theme works well
Just to be clear, it's Substratum Lite that works on Android 12 with supported themes. I don't believe the regular Substratum is working on Android 12.
I am currently using Liv Dark and Iris.

This is true. I used the regular substratum.
Majikthise and Vroomfondel approve of this thread. "Substratum Regular *or* Substratum Lite may or may not work on the P6P." Sorry, had to insert a funny reference.
Majikthise and Vroomfondel[edit]Majikthise and Vroomfondel may (or may not) be philosophers. They quite definitely appear as representatives of the Amalgamated Union of Philosophers, Sages, Luminaries and other Professional Thinking Persons. When the supercomputer Deep Thought is being programmed to determine the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything, they declare a demarcation dispute since the search for ultimate truth is the "inalienable prerogative of your professional working thinkers". They insist on rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty, and demand Deep Thought be switched off immediately. They are disarmed when Deep Thought, already committed to its seven and a half million years' calculation, suggests that a great deal of money can be made by philosophers willing to exploit the expected media interest. It is later apparent that their distant descendants revere them as "the greatest and most truly interesting pundits the universe has ever known."
Appear in:
the novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
On radio, Majikthise was played by Jonathan Adams, and Vroomfondel was played by Jim Broadbent. In the television series (but not on The Big Read), David Leland played Majikthise and Charles McKeown played Vroomfondel.
The characters were omitted from the 2005 movie The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The frog Litoria majikthise was named after the character Majikthise to reference this species' "vividly coloured thighs and groin."[19]

Interesting. I know the developer of Liv Dark, etc., tells his users to use LIte because the regular Substratum is outdated. Many people who were having problems with certain things solved them by using LIte instead of the regular one. With some Swift themes I've seen that certain options may not show up while using the regular one.
The Liv Dark themer has said "At this point it should be very clear for everyone to use substratum lite and not the old outdated substratum."
I guess maybe it depends on what theme, overlays, etc. people are using to how well the regular Substratum still works.
Is any of these work without root by any chance or is it still the caveat that you need to root your phone now in order to use substratum

yes no way round it on 12. needs root.
Oh ****, that's what I was afraid of. Oh well, hopefully This shizuku app integration will be able to find a way to use the overlays cuz currently you're able to partially theme the pixel devices without root. Particularly the quick settings, tiles and every Google app you can turn the background to AMOLED black which is great so it's a partial solution. Hopefully there will be a permanent one eventually through that app. In addition to the many other benefits that app integration comes with.

General XDA article: Android 13 leak reveals four new styles for dynamic theming system, gives us a glimpse of notification permissions

https://www.xda-developers.com/andr...namic-theming-notification-permission-dialog/
January 13, 2022 2:39am Kishan Vyas
Android 13 leak reveals four new styles for dynamic theming system, gives us a glimpse of notification permissionsThe wallpaper-based dynamic theming is one of the biggest highlights of Android 12. The feature, codenamed “monet,” generates a rich color palette based on the colors extracted from your wallpaper and then applies them to theme various parts of the system UI and apps. It appears the wallpaper-based theming system is set to get even more dynamic in Android 13.
According to Android Police (via Mishaal Rahman), Google is working on four new styles for the monet theming system. These new styles are codenamed TONAL_SPOT, VIBRANT, EXPRESSIVE, and SPRITZ. All these styles would still use your wallpaper to generate a color palette.
TONAL_SPOT: The default Material You pallete.
VIBRANT: This one offers more colorful secondary and background colors
EXPRESSIVE: Covers a wider range of colors, including those not present in the background.
SPIRITZ: It has a muted, almost grayscale pallete
Android 12 on Pixel phones already offers four dynamic theme styles which are generated by changing the seed color or main hue. However, these new styles would be different in that they would offer greater customization and colorfulness.
Here are some screenshots that showcase all four styles in action:
TONAL_SPOT
VIBRANT
EXPRESSIVE
SPIRITZ
A separate report from Android Police gives us the first look at Android 13’s runtime permission for notifications. As we previously reported, Android 13 adds a new runtime permission for notifications. This means that notifications could become an opt-in feature on Android 13. Users may be able to choose whether they want to allow an app to send a notification, just like how they are able to control Location and Camera permissions. The following screenshot shared by Android Police showcases how the notification permission dialogue would look like in Android 13. As you can see, the dialogue shows two options: Allow and Don’t.

Of course, when you choose dark theme. You know, the way it actually makes sense.
I would love some options, not what they think we like but like hex color codes and font selection, turn off material you theming switch would be nice, i dont like the bad way they miss the colors on the system.
To me Android 12 is a step down in terms of theming, and the only issue i have is android auto and music playing, my wireless headset does not drop audio at all but android auto does it like 5-6 times on a 30 min drive.
I wish they'd let me change my font again. ‍

They need to allow greater customization similar to Samsung and their options; such as lock screen clock, fonts, icon styles etc. It makes more sense for it to come from Google than a direct competitor.
Even "material you" is so limited i don't even see it as a proper theme engine.

While I agree with you about material you being limited, keep in mind it was a massive change to the system and it's only in its first release. It's clearly gonna expand from here. Lock screen clock is already rumored to be coming in android 13 or maybe it was even 12L. And if you want to change fonts and icons etc maybe your better off Samsung? I don't believe Google cares to do that...you can already install a third party launcher and change your icons and with ADB you can change your fonts most likely. You can already do more customization on a pixel than an iPhone...yet Apple seems to get away with it and Google gets crapped on because they don't do as much as Samsung etc.

Android 13 Beta 1 on the Pixel 6 Pro offers Face Unlock settingsBut Face Unlock isn't live yetGoogle’s Pixel 6 series offers solid hardware and a feature-packed software experience, but it surprisingly misses out on a basic feature that’s quite common on almost all modern smartphones: Face Unlock. However, there’s hope that feature will soon arrive, at least on the Pixel 6 Pro. There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that Google hasn’t entirely given up on Face Unlock and that it may arrive in a future update. A recent report indicated that the feature might go live in the June Pixel Feature Drop. Now, some more evidence has emerged about the Pixel 6 Pro’s upcoming Face Unlock feature.
As spotted by YouTuber M Brandon Lee of “This Is Tech Today,” Android 13 Beta 1 on the Pixel 6 Pro has added a new Face Unlock setting — the most concrete evidence yet of the feature’s existence and imminent arrival. Android 13 Beta 1 adds a user-facing Face Unlock settings page. While it’s hidden and not directly accessible to end-users, Mishaal Rahman forced the settings page to show up on his Pixel 6 Pro and shared screenshots showcasing the setup process.

Unfortunately, the feature doesn’t work at the moment, and you can’t set up anything. Interestingly, the Pixel 5 running Android 13 Beta 1 also shows a face unlock reference when you search for “face unlock” in device settings.
It’s unclear when Google plans to finally roll out the Face Unlock feature to the Pixel 6 Pro. In any case, this lines up nicely with 9to5Google’s recent report that the feature is scheduled to arrive with the next Pixel Feature Drop. Since the Pixel 6 Pro doesn’t pack special face unlock hardware, it will likely rely on the front-facing camera and machine learning to get the job done.

Depends on what you would consider soon . This will release/become available in August or (possibly) a little later.
TL;DR:
Google will prevent apps sideloaded from outside of an app store from accessing accessibility APIs

This isn't cool. I hope there's a way around it.

In Android 13, Google is cracking down on malware that uses Accessibility APIsMalware has been an issue on Android for a long time, and one of the most prominent vectors of attack is through the accessibility services on a user’s phone. Accessibility APIs are powerful tools intended for developers to help aid users with disabilities, as they can read the screen, inject inputs, and more. Unfortunately, that also makes them ripe for abuse, with malware such as FluBot tricking users into enabling those APIs for malicious apps that in turn, cannot be uninstalled. This is changing in Android 13, as Google will prevent apps sideloaded from outside an app store from being granted those permissions.
As initially reported by Esper, Google will prevent apps sideloaded from outside of an app store from accessing accessibility APIs. Accessibility APIs are necessary for users with disabilities, but they also have an incredible amount of control over the device. That’s why it’s required by the user to manually enable the service per app, but some users can be tricked into enabling it if they don’t know what they’re doing. As a result, this change from Google will prevent users entirely from enabling it for apps downloaded through your browser or a text messaging app.
Google has struggled for a long time with how to handle apps that make use of accessibility services. In 2017, Google threatened to remove apps from the Google Play Store that made use of accessibility APIs for anything that wasn’t for assisting disabled users. While the company eventually backed off, Google updated its policies in 2021. Now, developers who want to make use of accessibility services in an app for reasons other than helping disabled users that targets Android 12 or higher must get approval from Google Play after completing a permission declaration form.
Now, though, things are changing again in Android 13. Any app sideloaded from outside of an app store will not be able to have its accessibility services enabled. When tapping the option to enable it, your phone will display a pop-up stating “For your security, this setting is currently unavailable”. While at first, this may seem alarming for other app stores, Google confirmed to Esper that this change would not affect pre-loaded or side-loaded app stores, and it was just to restrict apps downloaded from less legitimate sources.
In short, you’ll have no problem with enabling the accessibility service for a sideloaded app that was installed via the session-based package installation API. This installation method is typically used by third-party app stores. As for apps that use the non-session package installation API, those will be restricted. It’s an easier method for developers to implement as the installation can just be handed off to the system package installer, and this is how texting apps, mail clients, and browsers handle APK installation. If you want to learn more about the technical details of this implementation, then be sure to check out Esper‘s complete write-up.

Luckily I found a lsposed module that enables face unlock and it works exceptionally well
Tested on Pixel 6 Pro (April, May, QPRs, A13 b1)
[11+] UniversalAuth: Face Unlock for all ROMs
UniversalAuth: Face Unlock for all ROMs This module brings face unlock (and possibly other authentication methods) to any ROM. Requirements - Xposed/EdXposed/Lsposed - Android 11, 12 or 13 DP (may also work on Android 10, but not tested)...

Yep that's a life saver for me after changing my screen. Now if I could only get fingerface working that would make life a bit easier for third party apps that use fingerprint authentication. But I'm guessing it won't work so for now I'll call this good enough
Hmm
I haven't experienced this fingerprint issue at all.
Not as good as my 1+9p but still good
