Question Screen randomly turns on. How to fix? - OnePlus 9RT

In my Oneplus 9RT running stock Oxygen OS on Android 11, I have turned off ambient display, yet my phone screen turns on randomly. No new notifications are generated when this happens. When it turns on, the display is fully black, displaying clock, date and time with status bar at the top. What should I do to disable this?

Turn off always on display

I cannot find that setting. I have already turned off the ambient display as mentioned in the original post. I searched for a tutorial but found this video for OnePlus 9 Pro which is suggesting to turn off ambient display to disable 'always-on display' .
Is there a different setting in OnePlus 9RT?

Huawei watch screen not working properly.

Hi guys, any advice will be helpful.
Last day i was at office and was charging my Huawei watch, later i saw a yellow blink on the screen and when i tried to turn on the screen by taping on the screen or using wrist gesture the screen wont display.
Observations
1. Watch completely works perfect only the display is not showing up when you wake the or want to use the screen.
2. The touch is working. (can select even the screen is fully black and navigate)
3. On the "always on" mode the notifications and the always on display is showing. only the bright display is not working.
Disclaimer
Im new in posting threads in XDA, english is weak
I had a similar thing happen when I had a brightness app installed, I think it was Wear Brightness Control: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edgecontrols.android&hl=en
It took me forever to figure that out and get the app uninstalled, but my watch has been fine ever since. You might check to see if you have the same or a similar app installed on yours.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite - Notification LED issues

Hi,
I have a new bought Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite and my notification LED light sometimes does not blink when there are notifications (e.g. WhatsApp messages).
That happens independent of how long the phone has been put away and independent of internet connection etc., the LED light only turns on in around 80% of all cases.
In the other 20% of cases, the light is not flashing, and when I unlock the phone I have a normal notification icon on the top of the screen.
I already checed all settings for notifications, everything seems to be fine.
maybe someone can help me?

Hi, for me deactivating Ambient display did the trick (Settings --> Display --> Advanced --> Ambient display (set it to Off).
Hope that helps.

hi
thanks for the tip, but it still sometimes doesnt light up.
Also, I noticed that sometimes it happens that the light goes on (as it should) when I receive a message, but after some time (15min+) the notification light disappears...
Could be a hardware issue as it works just fine for me.
so I will order another Xiamo Mi A2 Lite and look if the problem also occurs there.. :/
I had encountered this as well at times I thought it was just software issue.

Setting Always On Display - How?

Clock... etc... on AOD I see wrong. There is little brightness. Both when. Sometimes small brightness, sometimes more brightness. Why? My Adaptive Brightness is Off ...
On YouTube video, I can see (Galaxy S9) settings (brightness) by tapping the clock. It doesn't work for me. I have a new "A50" and I don't like this.
Do you know an application that solves this (brightness, font size)?
Thanks a lot...
(Samsung Galaxy A50, SM-A505FN/DS, A505FNXXU1ASBG/A505FNOXM1ASBG/A505FXXU1ASBB)
I am not sure but you understand it in the wrong way.
AOD may be set in 2 modes:
-always on
-on upon screen tap ( so maybe this is what you saw on S9 video)
There is no setting how bright it is - just factory default
BTW if you could set the brightness up it will eat battery like hell
Yes-I have the "show always " mode turned on. On YT video I see "Brightness adjustment". I do not see this function on "A50"... Apparently I have a different version of "AOD ".
EDIT: + The clock color sometimes changes spontaneously. And the brightness is sometimes smaller, at other times the brightness is larger...
EDIT2: I Found that in daylight AOD shines a lot. There is little light In the darkness. This dependency cannot be manually set. Never mind. That's O.K.
I just got the A50 and have the same issues. The always on display - when set to "show always" is bright enough when in a well lit area, but when theres not enough light its too dim. It changes brightness level automatically. I have the adaptive brightness turned off. I have tried various setting and still the same result. I have the S10e and there is a setting to adjust the brightness level on the AOD, but it appears to be absent on my A50. I have also noted that the latest version on my A50 (AOD) is 4.2.51.3 and on my s10e it is 5.1.38.3. Should it be the same on both devices ? Any advice would be appreciated.
AOD uses adaptive brightness but its frequency is a lot less than normal usage.

I'm quite sure that is the intended behaviour for the AOD (automatic color and brightness changes throughout the day) to avoid burning the AMOLED panel.
In fact, even though modern OLED displays have improved its durability a lot, it's still not recommended to keep the screen on at all times in the same spot, especially under the sun.
Can anyone tell me the latest version of their AOD on the A50 - it is under settings under AOD - About Always On Display - that will tell you the latest version installed.

Question The display wakes up when the phone is moved

Hello guys, after the last update I have a problem. At the slightest move of the phone the display turns on and it is very irritating, also as soon as I lock it with the power button and the display turns on immediately.
OnePlus 9 Pro: Android 12 / LE2121_11_C.47 updated before few days
You have active the option "Move/Raise phone to wake up screen" in Gestures ?
Or AOD?
I have 1+9P A12 and have disabled "Raise to wake" in Gestures. Everytime phone moves or "table bumps", the phone wakes. I cannot find how to disabled that - I wonder that it is not possible yet!?
You have to disable Always-On Display in settings>Personalizations

Question Wake AOD - show new notification - sleep AOD

Hey all, I've had a pixel for the last 5 or 6 years and switched to the s22. One thing that I miss is the Pixel would wake the AOD, show only the new notification, then sleep the AOD. I liked it because it's a way to see breaking news, or important notifications without having the AOD always on.
The S22 doesn't seem to have this, and there's plenty of apps on the app store that can wake the screen. But those apps don't show the newest notification only, they just wake the screen. I tried aodNotify but it's not quite there since it doesn't sleep the AOD after showing the notification.
Maybe a tasker profile? I've found tasker profiles that can wake the AOD - similar to the Glimpse Notifications app - but none that focus on the new notification itself.
Does anyone know of a way to try and emulate this?

I think what you're referring to is called ambient display. I think Samsung pretty much disabled it on their phones in favor of their own implementation of AOD. The only way I can think of adding it back is via a custom ROM (based on AOSP) but it would come with its own problems of course. I remember being able to bring it back with root but as of Android 9 it didn't work for me anymore. I don't think something like tasker would bring it back either, unfortunately.
I think you're right about the ambient display, that sounds familiar. Bummer Samsung disabled it. Maybe the aodNotify app is my best bet then
There is a function in the AOD settings. "Show for new notifications". I use that, it has the screen off until a notification comes up, then turns on the AOD screen. Once you look at the notification or hit the power button, it shuts off AOD until the next notification.
I don't remember if it shows the popup for reading texts or email, would have to play with that.
I believe aodNotify will solve your problem. It's perfect, has a ton of customizability options, and doesn't drain as much battery,
