Need information and help for french user newbie - Huawei MediaPad M5 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & O

Hello everybody
In advance, excuse me for my poor english, google traduction is my friend
I have a huawei mediapad M5 8,4". For few month, huawei don't update this tablet
I search how i can update my tablet. I have read posts on your forum but i don't understand every reply.
Can you explain me, with simplicity, how do it ? I didn't find explications on french forums.
Configuration of my tablet :
Model : Huawei Mediapad M5 8,4" / SHT-AL09
Build : 9.1.0360(C432E8R1P3)
version EMUI : 9.1.0
version Android : 9
Processor : Hisilicon Kirin 960
RAM : 4 Go
Internal Memory : 32 Go
Version band : 21C30B323S007C000
Version Kernel : 4.9.148 [email protected] #1

If it's running fast and stable and fulfilling its purpose I would leave it be.
Updates can and do break things.
Pie is a good OS. This Samsung N10+ I'm using is still running on it, deliberately.

You can always upgrade at any time. Be aware of 9's vulnerabilities and take appropriate steps to mitigate the risk. I run Karma Firewall and recommend it, freeware that uses almost no battery. Disable wifi and bluetooth if not used or when not in use.
In general security is not an issue with Pie, it holds up very well.

Android 8 development ?

DISCLAIMER I'm not English, sorry in advance.
So if you don't know Android O (8.0) as been announced and a dev version has been released.
Does lineageOS is going to make a version for this new android update ?
Will it be compatible with Samsung galaxy s4 ? (Just like his brother LineageOS 7.1.1)
That's pretty much it thank you for taking your time to read.
Best regards ; Bread.

I don't think the Android version number has been confirmed, just "O". There will certainly be LOS15* release corresponding with "O", but it is way too early to know about device support.

You're right tho from what I've seen there is not that much of a difference from android 7.1.1 and android 8.0 same UI and option pretty much, only few new feature and I guess some optimisation.

Lenovo P2a42 Android Q Update

Hello everybody,
Title says it all, I heard the requirements for flashing an Android Q GSI was increased, does the Lenovo P2a42 still manage to get away with it? It runs Oreo and Pie just fine, with the Treble enabled, but that's about it.
Source: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-android-q-beta-gsi-project-treble/
The build.prop says my current ROM is running Treble, however the other 2 tests mentioned in the source show false for me, and I'm not sure if I did it wrong, or my current ROM simply didn't support it, or is this phone finally meeting its end? Can it handle Android Q's requirements or is this the end?
Thank you for your time.
You are thinking way too much. Just enjoy the moment and don't stress much dude. When Q is released, we will know it. As long as the devs are interested, everything is possible.
Is there any full supported a/b methodology?
Android Q is coming soon to Lenovo P2.....

Telegram, one developer installed Android Q in p2 and posted some screenshots..... So we might be getting Q Roms.
LineageOS dev also announced he will be working on it soon, see the other thread on here
What is the most stable ROM for Lenovo P2? Android 9 and 10.
Thank you for your advise.

At the moment, Bootleggers 4.3 is the most stable Android 9 ROM for P2. No Android 10 is at its level due to stability issues.

Question What MIUI/Android version does the F3 come out of the box with?

Does it differ depending on manufacturing date or is it always the same? I'd assume it's probably different for global and eu versions for example.
Is it Android 11 straight out of the box or could I avoid updating it if it's android 10?
Have you done any research before? F3 came with Android 11 out of the box, but the MIUI depends of the date when the F3 is manufactured.
I was confused since I own another xiaomi device which is running MIUI 12.0.5 and it's android 10.
The articles I found for the F3 state that it came with MIUI 12.0.1 but said android 11 which made no sense to me. That's why I'm asking.
It came with MIUI 12.0, which is Android 11.

You may want to watch this video about the Enhanced Edition, Munchy found out that there isn't much difference between Enhanced & Normal:

Hello
It really doesn't have much difference, the only thing that really can be interesting is the memory extension.
Thanks

I also have Memory Extension on my Xiaomi.eu Weekly Custom ROM, but I don't use it because 6 GB RAM is plenty for me.
Munchy has noted about that feature, that it doesn't do much and that there's no indication of it being on, and the Recents still showing "6 GB". He said that in that same video I think.

Cannot update ATT LG G8 - Stuck on Android 9

So I bought a G8 for super cheap from a friend just to use on wifi, and now I'm learning you cant update without an ATT Sim (which is incredibly dumb imo) and I don't have one. I've looked for guides and seen a lot of mismatching information and its pretty confusing as I'm new to this. Is it possible to manually flash the newer firmwares to update? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Pie a better OS than 10.
Rule #1 - if a OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be.
That's what this N10+ is running on, zero issues.

It's really your choice as a user. A9 miui is smoother than a11 miui 12, so you may not use it for that. Also the only downside I can think of is older security patch. With old security patch you're at risk, but i don't think for an average user it would matter as long as you use your phone responsibly. I see people using lollipop and marshmallow android without ever having any issues XD.
