Question No glass back. - Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE

Hello, everyone.
Have you noticed that Mi 11 Lite 5G NE doesn't have a glass back like advertised? It´s plastic.
I really don't care about it being glass or plastic but just in case I checked to see if the phone was genuine and it is and so I find it odd that specs indicate glass when it's plastic.

Distinguish 11 Lite 5G NE (Lisa) from 11 Lite 5G (Renoir)
It's not about the plastic back only, also about the chipset

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I am aware that the chipset is different, but all sites seem to advertise the NE as having a glass back. Example, Nanoreviews.

On GSM Arena it only says the glass back cover for Renoir:
Compare Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE vs. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G - GSMArena.com
www.gsmarena.com
Btw, Renoir has Gorilla 6 for display, Lisa only Gorilla 5

I appreciate you telling me the differences between these two phones, but that is something everyone can easily check for themselves

I have not provided you a wrong link. The compare page notes only glas back for Renoir (right column), not for Lisa in the left column - screenshot!
Anyway, when I was buying I was fully aware about about all differences, including the Gorilla 5 on front and plastic back (but Renoir was no more available)
Anyway, I don't give a ... for not having glass back (had another phone with and I will probably never seek again for) but about the 'virtual proximity sensor'
Anyway, if you are communicating that way, goodbye - I will not mind what you further answer

Hello, Dayuser.
Yes, that's right, but I don't understand, it really is plastic...

Oh I did not know this, I assuned also it has a glass back. One more reason to return the phone, besides severe overheating in direct sunlight and the fact that I cannot ready anything on the screen.
Plastic back has a huge disadvantage, it will scratch severyly if not used in a case plus it will scratch even with a case if the case is not taken off and regularly cleaned.

Thinking of buying a Mix 2

So my S7 Edge got the flicker of death and i am starting my hunt for a new phone. I found the Mix 2 has some nice features and is pretty cheap. I plan on buying it on Amazon, Is there anything i should know?
Also does it have Google Play/Store/ect on it? Looking at this one; https://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-Black-Unlocked-Global-Warranty/dp/B079816Y5T/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
Awesome phone. But selling mine when might max 3 drops. Love the size. And yes global rom has playstore
Sent from my Mi MIX 2 using Tapatalk
I have a mi mix 2 now, because of the fragility of my mi mix. I got fed up of buying the complete lcd assembly (i checked around, nobody here wants to attempt to replace just the glass from the digitizer.), 3x so far in about 18 months.
I was also wanting to get the mi mix 2 (global version) because of the broad spectrum of lte bands with respect to the lack of lte bands with the first mi mix (it's just way more "connectivity reliable" when you have all the lte bands). I found this out the hard way when testing the Razr gaming phone along side my mi mix. The mi mix was lost and slow connecting to data, drove me crazy.
I simply love the design of the Xiaomi line of mi mix's (but this time I didn't pay top dollar like I did when the mi mix was launched), and once you get the boot loader unlocked, the freedom and liberation of using the broad spectrum of rom's, roots, adaway etc, I will probably never go back to a Network available only phone again (hated my Samsung knox and locked down bootloaders for that reason).
If money were no option, and I had to get a new phone, I would get the 2s. But at half the cost (or 40% or so less), the regular mi mix 2 is no slouch.
I will say that the mi mix is a much larger phone, and the screen real estate is much bigger (it is only 0.4" bigger, but it really is much bigger than the numbers show) with respect to the mi mix 2. I never understood why Xiaomi downsized the mi mix 2, and 2s.
Invest in a true bumper tpu shockproof case, and forgo the sleek, thin, and sexy cases. One drop, could be 1) invisible crack, or 2) lens crack or bullseye blister, or 3) broken internally and damaged lens and digitizer.
Then the game of finding a capable and knowledgeable mobile phone tech who will want to attempt to repair a Xiaomi phone. Oh, and you will need to find and track down a lens and digitizer at a fair price (lol, good luck with that), because nobody will have parts for it.
I am not trying to deter you, I am only stating the facts.
Cheers,
lormad

Get the Mix2s instead. By all accounts the upgrades are well worth it. I have the Mix2 and love it and would buy the Mix2s if I didn't have this one. As stated above, invest in a proper case because 90% of those available don't protect the screen adequately. It's a gorgeous but delicate phone and hard to resist the temptation of buying a case that shows it off.
What about this case? Is it resistant?
My Mix 2 will be delivery on the next week.

This is the one I'm using and was recommended by former Mix1 owners as offering the best protection whilst not being too bulky. I'm still looking for something similar in clear tpu. Go to the Accessories threads. Plenty of info there.

Looking for battery case for Le Max 2 - are there any out there?

Hi guys,
Since battery remains an Achilles' heel - I have thought about exchanging the batter for a larger capacity one - but I am afraid I will not be able to do it. Hence, I have thought about those batter cases, where you get extra capacity in the case. Like for Le 2 phone, a smaller sister version of our Le Max 2:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Pow...r-for-X520-X528-le2-Pro-X620/32863201253.html
Would be nice to have something similar for Le Max 2 - any advices?
well sorry for necroing the thread...
Did not find any for leeco max 2.
finally bought this one to try (was 15$) https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/5000...309.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.72006c37o3Vy4E
not directly for this model (originally for mate 9) but still approximately compatible...
fingerprint and flash not usable anymore (partially hidden) and power/volume buttons are a bit harder to press and now my phone is fat ...
otherwise it does the job with the battery.... I got 2-3 days of strong/medium usage.
Thanks man, can you share some photos?
@sirnono
Edit, i have looked more in dept , if we can find one like the blue one we can actually cut out the fingerprint and flash but the photo belongs to a mi9 case which has different dimentions.
Also samsung a7 2017 is the closest phone to le max 2 dimensionally but there are no battery cases for it
Also i added an universal battery pack which i am thinking buying for le max 2...

I really like the looks of these cases, but I am uncertain as to what one to buy as I can not read Chinese haha.
Found lots on Amazon that are similar. Will buy one and post back the results.
picked up this one https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07MJK2J4V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 appears to be the same one belmethos got from aliexpress.. Cost me $30 CDN, and fits rather well. Yes the volume and power buttons are harder to press, and the flash and thumb scanner are no longer useable, but the case is actually great in the hands.

[Q] Redmi Note 8 Frame (Metalic or Plastic?)

Hi all, its been a while since my last thread here at XDA. I´ve been enjoying a lot my RN4 and honestly didn´t find the need or time to mod it. However, it´s been more than two years now using it and it feels more and more slow. Yes, I know, I could put a custom ROM into it and make it fly again, but I was looking at upgrading it, so I can pass my RN4 to my father.
A few months ago I was also checking out the RN7, a great phone spec-wise, but it lacked the Metal Frame. A video on YouTube from JerryRigEverything showed how fragile the phone is when bent. Another tech-tuber from India (maybe tech guruji?) also showed the same thing, the phone isn´t built to resist heavy mechanical stress. And since I need the phone to resist at least 2 years I was looking for a phone with the specs of the RN7 but more robust. Out of nowhere Xiaomi presents the RN8, and I was like: WHAT?!
Phone looks OK, for the price offers a lot IMO. All the features a geek would want. I was looking for the NON-PRO version, since it has SnapDragon. My question is this, does anybody know if the phone has a Metallic OR Plastic frame? Guess I´ll have to wait a bit to find out...
Same plastic material what make youbthink they will put metal on even cheaper phone......metal ia way more expensive....
If you want metallic frame go for Mi A3

About to join as RN8P owner, seek advices

Hello guys, Indonesian here
My RN8P is coming, unfortunately I can only get 6/64 version because how fierce today flash sale ( only 280 units 6/128 and 2800 units 6/64 in stock). I root and flash lots of phone before but probably not for this one yet after read how risky currently atm.
How can I optimize my begonia without ubl for now?
1. remove bloats with adb, it's mostly safe right?
2. Install blo*ada, do I need one if I removes bloats and use ublock origin?
3. Buy microSD, 128 GB class 10 is enough for FHD recording? or do I need U3 / V30 etc, they are EXPENSIVE here, make me cry because I cant get 6/128 version.
4. Put tempered glass and soak whole body with "nano liquid" coating, also put camera metal ring to protect it from scratch. I hate idea using case phone.
5. Others?
Thanks in advances
Hello, Indonesian too here
Got Redmi Note 8 Pro 6/128 Grey from 11/11 flash sale for Rp 3.4 Million, Regarding your questions. I can answer some of them.
1. For FHD recording, you should atleast get U3 MicroSD, you can get 128GB Sandisk ultra for 150-200k at Tokop****.
2. For tempered glass, I reccomend Nillkin CP+Pro / CP+Max. It comes with built in Oleophobic coating and feels just like the Original Gorilla Glass 5.
3. You shouldn't coat the phone with Oleophobic coating, because it already has a glass back which already has some Coating on it, water won't stick to it.
4. For the camera scratching, I would agree. It will scratch up the part below Fingerprint area if you don't use any cases. You should get third party cases, the one that comes in the box was bad. But if you hate cases, maybe you can try skins.
If you have any further questions, I would love to reply to them.

Hello there lucky fellow
1. Sandisk ultra ori class 10 is rp 190rb, U1 is rp 215rb, U3 at those prices mostlikely FAKE
2. Agreed about this one but nikilin got black border and I dont like it
3. Its crystal nano coating, claim to create very thin (0.02mm) 9h hardness gilm on any glass surfaces not just simply oleophobic coating, and last 6 month~2years as scratch resistant layer, gorilla glass body is a type of glass right?
4. Case, skin, defeat premium body looks and insulate heat, rejected, google metal ring camera for rn8pro, it cost rp 15rb add, 1.5 mm space so glass lens wont touching floor/ desk under normal condition.
How about b*okada? It's sort of internal proxy, how much it drain resources?

Mine is on the way too and i too have some of these questions myself. I was initially planning on buying the 8/256 version but for some reason it's not available anywhere. So i had to stick with the 6/128 version. I'm planning on using my 128GB Class 10 card in the device for storage only. But Class 10 is the recommended speed class for FHD video so i guess you'll be fine with that. Not sure about 4K 30FPS mode tho because the minimal bitrate for a 30FPS 4K video is 100MBpS on the dot. You should look into investing on a UHS 3 card if you have plans to use that.
Regarding the bloatware, i think there is a good chance custom ROMs will pop up for this phone for a change. I've been following development on this phone for about 2 weeks for pre-purchase research and i have to say it's looking rather promising for a mediatek device. I think your best bet is to wait it out patiently until a good ROM is released instead of messing with MIUI.
I also want to know about adblockers that work on this device. I use AdAway in all three of my current devices and i would like to use that in this one too. If anyone knows how it works on this device, let me know.
I'm going to say i will use the provided case with the phone despite the fact that i hate to not show off how beautifully built it is. Better safe than sorry. Though i only bought an off the shelf cheap-ass tempered glass for now. And i think the metal ring for the camera bump makes the phone even more wobbly than it already is.. Besides it looks nasty so i won't be using that.
For the things i want to know about the device, there are a list of specific Magisk modules i use on all my devices. That includes Viper, AdAway and Vanced. I know Vanced works after someone confirmed it. Same person confirmed that Viper doesn't work even if the newest version flashes fine. A custom kernel with audio mod support has to be released in order for Viper to work... Who knows when that'll be..

1. Or you can get 64GB Sandisk Extreme, meh
2. Nillkin also has Tempered glass without black border. check the Amazing H+. Should be the same, but without the border, also somewhat cheaper than the CP.
3. Just becareful not to get the coating on earphones holes etc. Also becareful using some sort of coating, try it out on small surface of glass first and make sure the coating doesn't ruin the glass.
4. I would agree with you, external protections ruin the design. But the glass on the back is really slippery and since the frame of Redmi Note 8 Pro is Polycarbonate (Basically plastic). the Polycarbonate frame probably won't survive a drop.
Also an extra tip. When you are setting up the phone, set your country to "United Kingdom" for no ads.

Bad to hear that... but since i and my friends use Spigen cases the phone stays almost untoched..no broken displays yet but i must say that on latest s20+ my friend broke camera glass(LOL when it so big).. well u must be a bit unlucky for that i never i mean never use screen protectors cuz it looks ugly for me and also having touch issues. Spigen armor case is the one to go cuz it really saved me a lot of times. But yea at the end if ur sluggish and a bit unlucky even that doesnt help u probably.
Yeah, i am using spigen case too also i have removed spigen screen protector - i dont think i will ever go back to using screen protectors again it feels so much better without
