Can't install any custom rom on A505W Canadian Variant. Unable to mount /vendor error. - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone. I currently have a A505W Canadian variant, bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed. I made the big mistake of updating to the last version of android 11 and, while I prefer android 10 for what I need the phone to do, I can't downgrade anymore. I'm trying to install, at that point, any custom rom there is. But I can't. I don't know if it's related, but every time I try to install a rom, with TWRP, I always get the error "Unable to mount '/vendor'" and the installation fail. Some rom get concidered successfully installed, by their custom installations process, but end in a boot loop. All I can do is install the stock firmware with odin. I've been on this for 3 days now, can anybody help me? That would be much appreciated. Have a nice day!

Ok, so if I understand correctly I'll need to find custom roms specific to the A505W? which seem to be VERY rare.

So far, only international variants(F and FN) are being built so we don't know if any rom will work on W variants. Maybe try GSI, they are almost the same but they mostly differ in vendor

yes, you should definitely check GSI and sGSI out. Some of the a50 users manage to boot android 13 dp1 on A50. for GSIs https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/treble-enabled-device-development-a-ab-roms.7260/

I'm on it. I think I found one GSI rom that is working pretty well for now. I need this phone to do a very specific job. I prefers magisk 23 for this since I need magisk hide. So I tend to go with older version of android (10 or 11). Also, the lastest stock firmware was not really up to the task either (got many bugs) and I made the mistake to update my android 10 stock, which was working perfectly, to the last official version of 11, so no downgrade possible for me. I just need to find the right rom for my needs now.

Search XDA for the latest Frija Windows application version. Beyond that, sammobile.com is where I've pulled my provider's stock images for an upcoming downgrade attempt. You should be able find your provider's CSC easily enough elsewhere; you'll need it to pull the proper ROM.

@AliasGprime how did you unlock the bootloader on your A505W? I'm researching this and see only paid options to unlock BL and no one can reach the member who used to unlock.
EDIT: after several attempts, I did finally get the bootloader unlock menu.

Hi,
Just wanted to put this info out there for unlocking bootloader. ( This would wipe your data )
Model A505W
Steps:
Enable OEM Unlock
Power Off
Hold vol-up and vol-down and power button ( As per other tutorials and videos you have to attach charging cable but that did not work for me )
Follow instructions on screen
reboot ( It takes long to reboot as all data is going to be wiped )

[Q] OS takes ages to boot

Hello, I'm new to the forum as a user but i read lots of information in here.
Thank you for all your help over the years =]
Unfortunately, now i met a problem i can't fix on my own.
My friend bought HTC One m8 in china and everything was in Chinese so he installed some app that made some of it in english.
he asked me to install gapps. After i had installed the wrong gapps most of the os didn't work.
Re-installing the right gapps didn't help so i decided to flash it with Mike1986's custom rom. it took the phone 10 minutes to boot, maybe even more since it got stuck in recovery for a while.
everything looked ok, worked fine and i decided to reboot it again to see if the rebooting time is ok.
it took it 5 minutes to reboot, and all the time it showed the chinese company's logo (first picture).
I thought it might be a recovery problem so i installed PhilZ Touch recovery. It didn't solve it.
After minor research i found that similar problem can occur due to wrong rom and firmware relations.
i tried to find what is my firmware now but couldn't.
so i ask for your help. what are the implication of not updating the firmware, and what can i do to update the firmware.
i tried returning to stock but i don't know how to find the right RUU.
I'm open to options, even leaving the current firmware and flashing a rom which works with it.
PS. additional information:
before flashing the new rom the phone did OTA and the file name is:

If i'm correct the issue is
a. Takes to long to boot 6min - 10min first boot.
and b.flash failure
okay, flash back to TWRP, you have a chinese version i believe that's the international variant.
You might have Android 4.4.2 installed and you flashed 4.4.3 ROM which requires the updated firmware.
The effect of that will be LONGER bootup times up to 10minutes, this isn't new.
Try this ROM, comes pre loaded with a GUI that you select what phone you have and on bootup you select the Carrier you own/have.

You have old firmware, and this can be confirmed since you are on hboot 3.16.
Updating firmware is discussed on the following post, including a link to detailed instructions on how to flash firmware.

thanks
Thank you both for the comments.
Eventually i decided not to mess with his phone and just installed the latest Cyanogenmod that, for some reason, worked perfectly.
I Will though use it on my phone =]
So thanks again

The reason CM works is because the firmware issue you were experiencing (causing long boot time) only affects Sense ROMs.

Root Blackview A5 Marshmallow

Hi guys,
recently bought this A5 at reasonable price( 50$). It goes fast as any other 4-core brand named device i have seen. But it came with much bloatware such as a search service that somehow i cant stop. I must disable it once a day and then again tsoup! it is on again...Anyway that's why my first thought was rooting the device.
Sometime ago i rooted and old samsung with just a click. But this blackview seems to be solving the circle square. No support, google says little only some russians i can not understand.
So, to end this story i need help to root this device. Flash a modded preinstalled rooted version maybe?
Thanks in advance...
Edit: Managed to root it finally. just flash supersu via twrp(3.03 custom recovery image from needrom site)...8 hours piece of cake ^-^. Thank god for the last beta version 2.79 SR3 201xxx of supersu. All the other version had me to bootloop.
Hi there, please tell me how you did it. Some links to the correct files would be great.
Kind regards, Skyfire

I flashed the recovery.img with sp flash but when I enter recovery mode, twrp doesn't show up...
Instead, the stock recovery mode boots up.
sp flash says that the flash was successfull but it doesn't work out for me...
btw I only flashed the recovery.img. I didn't flash any boot.img or anything else.
any ideas what went wrong?

That's hell of a problem...did u select the scatter file in sp tools? maybe your firmware is different version? if i remember correct there are 3 versions of blackview A5. I have the A5_C1_Blackview_SD_Q20160709. If different then u must find a twrp for your version..Sorry mate
There is a thread over at 4pda with different versions of twrp but the links are all down. Maybe if you find somebody that speaks russian ore use google translate you can get it there.
Today my new A5 arrived and of course I wanted to root it.
But I have a new Build number = A5_C1-Blackview_SD_Q20161010
Also the drivers are not working.
Does anybody ca help me out ?
thx in advance
My build = A5_C1_Blackview_VO.X_20160420
Would this be a good idea...? Or a bad idea...?
If I go into: Settings -> About phone -> Wireless update
There are no OTA updates available... But there is an option to install "Local updates". I can select the "SuperSU" zip but I get warnings about bricking the phone:

}
So, would this produce desired results? Or brick the phone?
While I'm here, what about installing custom ROMs, eg one of the 6.0.1 ROMs from needrom.com?
helo, i want to root my blackview 5, i already downloaded all files that should be used to preparing the root. but the problem here is all this files and procedures are odd for me. can you screen shoot how to root start at the beginning? tq

I can't install any custom ROM

I have bootloader unlocked and TWRP 3.2 installed.
Normally most ROM's are not finished installing always stuck in patching system image unconditionally.
LineageOS 14.1 it was installed but the screen was black with the blue LED on.
I have the stock S251 firmware version of P2a42 with Lenovo P2c72 model.
I tried to format data to EXT4 but doesn't work.

Are you 100% sure the bootloader is unlocked ? Did you unlock the bootloader via fastboot or you just waited until the 14 days countdown ended ?

What version of Android are/were you on ? You need to be on at least Android 7 S244 to be able to flash LOS 14.1.
What I'd suggest you to do is flash the stock ROM all over again. See this. I have the c72 version myself and I've never encountered the issue you mentioned.

Yes, I installed 5. P2a42_S244_170725_ROW_fastboot.7z manually through fastboot and updated later to S251 through OTA. LineageOS 14.1 it is and example, which ROMs works for you? I am looking a Android 8 Oreo custom ROM. Do you have to change partion data to EXT4 or something else? I thought it was because I have the C72 version.

I've tried most of the ROMs here and they all work.
I had the same issue while trying to install new AOSiP 8.1 rom, I have unlocked bootloader, latest TWRP but now I am stuck with this error:
failed to mount /data device or resource busy
I cannot install any rom nor wipe data anymore. Stuck on LENOVO blue logo with the android with the lock in the belly! Help please!
PS: I can reboot to fastboot or TWRP
EDIT: i solved the issue rebooting twice from TWRP to TWRP again and making it permanent on the system, now rom is doing first boot.
Thanks, I always making permanent but apparently it was not enough. Now it's working. Probably I only need to boot TWRP through buttons instead of using fastboot commands to making permanent.

Is this the first time you are doing this?
Did you follow the steps exactly as outlined here?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...cross-device-development/twrp-exynos-t3763464
Did you flash the kernel patch afterwards or a custom ROM that has it patched already for you?
Keep in mind I was on android 8 when I used the patch in that thread, you may or may not have to look for a newer one.

Have you flashed the right Bootloader and Modem for your firmware?
Also give this verity patch a try
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
If that doesn't work either then a custom rom is your best bet as you'll have pretty much everything done for you, SoLdieR9312 and _alexandr ROMS are probably the most stable and stock-like right now.

Oxygen OS 11.BE86AA Global Rom and Magisk Boot Files

Hey Guys,
I'm posting a link to the July, 2021 OTA update for OnePlus Nord N10 5G Global Edition (NOT Metro or T-Mobile) as well as boot.img and the patched version. I extracted the boot image from payload.bin and patched with Magisk. I successfully rooted without custom recovery (ie TWRP) and am currently passing both CTS and Basic Integrity. Check everything below to make sure your version matches up before you flash anything. Proceed at your own risk. I am not responsible for any bricked devices.

Hi, I'm currently on Pixel Experience. I'd like to get back to Oxygen now that the update is out finally. What is the best course of action with PE/PE's recovery installed right now? Sorry to be a bother, but I've been out of the scene for 5-6 years and am trying to get my bearings again.
yesterday i go back to stock from Pixel Experience, flash with MsmDownloadTool and all ok. Is the same process here?
HI,I cant unlock my BL,after I update your ROM,how to install magisk?
How did you get a hold of the payload.bin? I can't find it on their website.
this update turned my oneplus into a brick after rooting, after not doing anything different with my phone from prior when it was on 10
I don't get it did you put the patched img back into payload bin because I flasked the zip with system update no root

Just a post that didn't even need to be made then you can get the zip from OnePlus or oxygen updater and boot img from the root n10 post I thought he managed to implement the patched boot.img into zip which is what I was hoping for I have a metro phone on this firmware switched from a modified msm so I was hoping I could circumvent locked bootloader

Yeah, I do my own. Full rom was readily available on one plus updater.

Hey Guys,
I'm posting a link to the July, 2021 OTA update for OnePlus Nord N10 5G Global Edition (NOT Metro or T-Mobile) as well as boot.img and the patched version.
Build: BE2026_17_210713
Baseband: 1.c5-00019-BITRA_GEN_PACK-2.404869.8.407035.5

Hey @Eliliyah I've got the exact Phone (model: BE2026) running OxygenOs 11.0.2.BE86AA and same Kernal Version: 4.19.125-perf+
But my build # and Baseband are slightly different.
Build Number: BE2026_17_210930
Baseband Version: 1.c5-00019-BITRA_GEN_PACK-2.437866.2.439624.2
Would it be safe to flash your zip file?
