LineageOS USB Power/Hoste mode - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hello *,
with stock rom USB host and power delivery is working so I'm able to connect a passive USB device, like a Flash drives or a mouse, to the Nokia 6.1 USB connector.
But after updating to LineageOS 18.1 this is not working anymore. Connections with active devices (like a PC) are working but not with passive devices, the stay off because of missing power delivery and I cannot active it in "Connected Devices -> USB Settings".
Hence my question, how can I activate the USB power delivery or host mode because I think the USB from the Nokia device do not deliver automatic power to a passive device?!?.
Thank you in advance.!

[Q] Attaching USB headphone to Galaxy Nexus?

Hi
I've got Asus Travelite HS-1000W USB headphones [1] connected to my PC. They are USB connected, with the "normal" big USB. On the PC, I see the headphones (or rather, the USB dongle) as a USB soundcard.
Is it possible to connect and use this on the Galaxy Nexus, using some sort of USB adapter cable [2]?
Cheers,
Alexander

I tried plugging my USB headphones into my GN with an OTG cable with no luck, no sound through the headphones.
I have tested other USB devices and have had them work perfectly (keyboard, mouse, etc), but USB headphones did not work.
I am currently running stock 4.0.4 on my phone, so with a custom kernel you may be able to get this to work, but for my current setup it doesn't.
On a related note, this link might answer some of your questions.

I don't think you can use any USB headset with stock kernel. USB keyboard and mouse use the standard HID driver to connect which works universally. Linux driver support for audio devices (if any exists for the Travelite at all) needs to be enabled in the kernel for it to work.

OTG cable not connecting with USB drive

I have a Chinese phone and a Chinese OTG cable. On insertion of OTG cable the phone volume status bar appears, reducing volume to minimun and leaving to rest for a period removes the status bar. OTG Troubleshooter reports positive USB host support but negative on all three subsequent tests. I am now concerned that the cable is faulty. I am unaware of the technical limitations and because of this I need advice whether an OTG cable should provide the same connectivity with a PC as a standard USB cable. This one connects with my PC with no problem!!
Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you sure your phone support OTG usb? Not all of them do. Regarding using OTG cable with PC, I'm not sure it will work. OTG cable has a few pins shorted together to initiate "host" mode on your phone so you can connect peripheral devices (like mouse, keyboard, usb stick, drive, etc.). By default, PC is already setup as "host" to act in that mode.
some Chinese phone does not support OTG, what brand of phone do you use?

My original post stated that the OSG Host had been confirmed as present and my query was whether an OSG cable would permit connection with a PC because mine will connect. This makes me think that the cable is incorrectly configured (or in other words NOT an OSG cable). Your reply stated that you were not sure, or in other words my query was not answered. I guess I'll just return it as faulty.

USB Hub doesn't work/only in charging mode

hello,
I bought this device:
http://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Ethernet-Chromebook-Supported-Aluminum/dp/B012N8KYWU
because it reads nice, I just got it but as i plug it in it only flashes and the tablet only detects is as chargeable device.
I can switch to RNDIS as i wanted to try ethernet, in the developer option but if I do that, the Pixel reboots and reset the option to the prior one.
It even doesn't recognize a USB Stick on that Hub.
Is the hub broken or is there another issue?
Thanks Avalun.
I recently bought this USB Hub / Ethernet adapter and have successfully verified that the USB ports work and the Ethernet port works. I turned off the WiFi while testing the Ethernet port to be 100% sure. I also had USB Debugging enabled when doing all this.

thanks for the reply unfortunately that one is not available in the EU

Yes but it doesn't have an ethernetport. Additinally that doesn't deliver to Austria too.

Connecting to a USB device

Hi folks,
I'm trying to connect my phone and my guitar amp via usb to otg cable. The app that the amp uses is optimised for android nougat, however it doesn't work with my new honor 7x (it did with my previous phone with android 5.0).
I've tried activating the usb debug in the developer options, but every time I leave that config page, the toggle goes off automatically.
Any ideas? Have you been able to control an external device via USB with an android app?
Thanks in advance!

Can Galaxy S9 transfer data to my PC using USB C cable only?

Hello everyone,
I am fairly new to the USB-C world and was wondering why does my Samsung Galaxy S9 only charge when I plug it into my Windows 10 PC using a double sided USB-C (10Gbs) cable.
The phone does not give me an option to change the mode to data transfer.
PS:
The cable being used "USB C Cable, QacQoc USB C to USB C 3.1 Gen 2 Cable supporting 100W Power Delivery, 10Gbps Data Transfer, [email protected] Video Output Thunderbolt 3 Compatible for USB Type-C Devices, 1.2m"
Thanks in advance
enable Developer Mode (go to settings, about phone, then Software Information, then Build Number around 7-10 times (it'll say "X more clicks to enable Developer Mode" (or something like that)). Once Dev Mode is on, you can select "DEveloper Options" in Settings, then Default USB Configuration, and choose "Transferring Files"
