Question How do I disable the Motorola Software Update? I'm rooted. - Moto G10

Every 5-10 minutes of using my phone to play Games or Watch videos this annoying updater has been forcing my phone to switch from a game/youtube to the updater which is driving me near insane as I cannot update a rooted phone so this updater tries and tries and tries... to update my phone and it won't stop and I cannot disable it or know how to disable it anyway. Any help would be nice.
I've tried
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota
But it's not working as all it says is
Code:
Exception occurred while executing 'disable-user':
java.lang.SecurityException: Cannot disable a protected package: com.motorola.ccc.ota

Please someone tell me how do disable this very annoying updater? I just feel like throwing my phone at the wall at this point... that's how annoyed I am. It's ever since I did a format on the phone weeks ago...

Regretting my purchase

Okay Sso I've just ordered the lenovo p2. I was looking for a mid-range/budget phone under the £200 price mark and found this and several others. After checking and comparing the phones in this range, I decided to buy this (even though the camera is pretty rubbish). Now upon further investigation, I've noticed that this phone isn't as polished in terms of glitches. There's a lip sync issue and notification issues that keeps on coming up wherever I look as well as several other issues. Most of the fixes for these issues are pretty much either work or don't so I don't want to end up with a phone that has glitches. Could someone list their experience with this phone and any pros and cons.

Im in the UK and not sure if we have received the update over here yet.
Yes just update to nougat and enjoy.
I haven't regretted buying this phone one single bit.
It's a great phone and amazing phone once you factor in the price!

There is an official update but they pulled it for the time being (there are still a couple of issues). It's still better than MM and you can download and put the update.zip on the SD card to update it manually.

MM?
Do I have to root the phone just to update it manually?
No, you don't have to root to update it.
The lip sync issue can be fixed by updating to Nougat and resetting the phone to factory defaults after updating it.
The notification "lag" issue can be fixed by executing a adb dumpsys command to disable doze.

No problems here... Probably some mistake from your side... The sync issue was resolved in nougat AFAIK.

adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
yes i have also purchased from 3 UK and all issues are resolved with Nougat update which you can do manually. It also enables Volte so it works properly. Just follow the manual update for Nougat thread.
So the notification lag isn't really the Lenovo P2's problem?
edit: perhaps it really isn't https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/comments/3qsgue/yes_doze_will_delay_your_social_media/
Doze is a disease, but yes, it's not the P2's fault.
Bigger shot smartphones like the OnePlus 3 also suffer from this "bug".
Doze is worthless it doesn't even save battery for the most part. It just delays notifications. Yes that's what it does. It's a plague on many phones.
how to disable it?
No issues here.

Needs to be done after every reboot as it doesn't stick.
Also needs to be noted that this command can be made to auto execute when the hosting app is given android.permission.DUMP rights via adb, or if the executing app has root rights.
I coded myself a minimalistic app, requested and granted it android.permission.DUMP and auto start rights and let it handle the command execution for me, essentially disabling doze permanently on my P2.
Things have been a breeze since then.

Guys, to avoid having to run the ADB command after each reboot follow these instructions (please note, the files should be downloaded to a PC and then transferred to your phone via USB otherwise they mess up sometimes):
You need to enable USB debugging mode in Developer options first
Download and install this apk and transfer it to your phones storage - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxDMCRH9QxV7aUQyalpZQ2JudGc/view?usp=drivesdk
Then connect phone to PC and allow the drivers to install
Download and install ADB here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MKgCbUM0itNVB1elljU2NPR0k/view
Go into the ADB folder, hold shift, right click and select "Open command prompt here"
Type the command: adb devices (now hit enter)
It should return your phones serial number is connected correctly
Run this command in ADB: adb -d shell pm grant com.adamioan.scriptrunner android.permission.DUMP (now hit enter)
Download this file and transfer it to your phones storage - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxDMCRH9QxV7YVA4YmxGTS1OX3c
Open the SH Script runner app and tap the three dots in the top right corner, select "Load" and locate the file from teh previous step
Click the Circle button with the play sign at the top of the screen
You should see the message "Idle mode disabled" which means that Doze has now been disabled.
Whenever you reboot your phone, open the SH Script runner and the command will still be there, just click the play button to run the script again.
And that is it, two clicks to disable Doze after each reboot.

Icebox on FTVS V2 help

I'm trying to freeze apps without root on my Fire TV Sticks V2. I used icebox to accomplish this task flawlessly on my 4K sticks. I just can't seem to get it to work on the V2 sticks.
The V2 sticks are running latest software Fire OS 5.2.7.2 (648595120) and the Icebox version I have that worked on my 4k stick is version 3.15.5 beta.
All I had to do on the 4K stick to get it to work was choose simple ADB mode and then enter the ADB command using the app Remote ADB on my phone.
Code:
adb shell sh /sdcard/Android/data/com.catchingnow.icebox/files/start.sh
This doesn't seem work on V2 sticks.
Does anyone know how to get this working or a way to freeze apps without root on V2 sticks?

A factory reset will re-enable the apps and a OTA will enable them, but here is what i use and i block OTA's
https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/
For example -
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.kindle.otter.oobe.forced.ota
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.device.software.ota
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.device.software.ota.override

I guess i never tried it on the tank... i can look into it when i get some time. But question, why don't you just root it so you can have access to all this? It really inst hard and gives you so many options.

And what apps are safe to disable? Can you share what you disabled? I don't use anything from Amazon besides prime video...

This might help as far as what is or isn't safe to disable if you find a way to actually disable them.

I decided to try ice box too...
I can install the app and I can even run the command to start the service. The console shows "success" and the app opens after I run the command.
But I can't select the "Simple ADB" option in ice box. I tried using the remote control, a keyboard and even a mouse... The radio button doesn't get "checked" and I can go to the next step.
Does that means the service is not actually running? Same thing for you or you're not even getting the "success" message for the adb command?

Custom Launcher on Tank

Ive followed the guide on how to install TWRP on my Firestick (Tank) and successfully rolled back to a pre-rooted version. I have installed Magisk, and blocked updates
Following this guide I have set my custom launcher to be the primary used, but they recommend running "pm disable com.amazon.tv.launcher"
After running this, my device works great. No issues with home buttons, or Amazons launcher taking over. However on restarting, I get 'rebuilding databases' or some such, 'please wait 10 minutes'. After this is finished, nothing happens. I reboot, it happens again. The bar stays on the screen and I have no access to any of my content.
I can ADB to my firestick at this point, but not before the bar fills, this tells me that the stick is waiting for something to run, and as soon as I enable com.amazon.tv.launcher everything is back up, I boot to Amazons launcher, then choose my own launcher via LaunchX. From then on, everything is as it should be.
I can reboot and go straight through my 'amazon' 'fireTVstick' logos and into the amazon launcher until my custom one takes over again. My home button uses my custom launcher. All good.
Long winded rant over. Now, did I miss something? This guide was from 5 years ago. Things may have changed. Is there some way to stop amazons tv launcher from being used at all? Save the RAM? Or is this just the way things are?
Thanks so much for coming along for this ride.
Disable both.
adb shell "su -c pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.tv.launcher"
adb shell "su -c pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.firehomestarter"
To access Settings use my root app.
Settings
That worked perfectly! Thank you very much. You have helped me breathe new life into this firestick.

Which Amazon service is responsible for software uninstall

Hi together,
I have 5 rooted FTV 4k sticks and I used OnBootKodi for many months on all sticks, but since some weeks it has been uninstalled. I installed it again, but after a reboot it is uninstalled again.
So I assume Amazon uninstalls this application. So does somebody of you know which service I can disable to deactivate automated uninstalling?
Up to now I only disabled OTA services.
Thanks in advance.

Amazon blocks some apps from starting incl. the OnBootKodi app, take a look into:
Code:
/data/user/0/com.amazon.device.settings/databases/Settings.db
or try disabling:
Code:
adb shell
su
pm disable com.amazon.tv.nimh
exit
I will try it and give response if it is working. Thank you
Edit:
pm disable com.amazon.tv.nimh <- is working.
Thank you so much (now I googled for this nimh and found a lot of topics ... so sorry for spamming, but I did not know what to search before I asked).

Question Cannot uninstall Powergenie on my phone

Hi, ive been experiencing problems receiving notifications on my phone. After doing some research, i found the source of the problem to be from the powergenie application. Tried to uninstall it using ADB method but have been unable to do so as i keep getting an error message. Have also tried to disable it but that doesn't work either. Anyone has any suggestions or workarounds? Thanks in advance.
PS: I am a long time huawei user and have always been able to uninstall powergenie on all huawei phones i use but i cant do it on this phone for some reason.
HNLGE:/ $ pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.hihonor.powergenie
Failure [DELETE_FAILED_ABORTED: com.hihonor.powergenie is not allowed to uninstall.]
HNLGE:/ $ pm disable-user --user 0 com.hihonor.powergenie
Package com.hihonor.powergenie new state: default
I've got a similar problem, although with me it's to do the ability to answer the phone, I can hear phone ringing, yet the screen doesn't wake to allow to answer, when pressing power button to wake it then cuts call off.
I have often thought of deleting/disabling power genie but never did, I don't have answer of how to overcome or solution, I think now Honor are separated from Hauwei their have made some very slight changes and what used to work before a new method is needed.
Any news about this?
also looking for a solution to this
