Bricked phone - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Questions & Answers

Hello,
Today I installed ROM from xiaomi.eu (MIUI 12.6) and when I saw this i immediately want to change rom. When i choose rom I had to flash one file (vbmeta) in fastboot. An error occurred in terminal and my phone showed a message "The system has been destroyed". I can't go out to twrp, fastboot only works. I used to unlock the bootloader, but when I want to flash another rom I forgot to check "Unblock OEM" in Developer Options. So my bootloader is blocked.
I tried Mi Unlock app and when I tried to log in I have a strange verification when I want to enter an sms code.
Do you have any ideas how to unblock bootloader?
Flashing anything in fastboot don't work, because bootloader is locked.
Thanks for help.

Flash Official Full ROM without unlocking bootloader

How can I flash MIUI 9 Official Full ROM without unlocking the bootloader?
I pressed the ”OEM Unlocking” without unlocking the bootloader. I didn't even enter the approved account in "Mi unlock status". Now the status is unlocked. The bootloader is actually still locked. When I use PC to unlock bootloader, it goes until 99% and gives me the error "Current account is not bound to this device". I tried resetting the phone from settings (wipe data partition) but the status is still unlocked.
The question is how can I undo the status to locked so that I can continue unlocking this device and enter the approved account to "Mi unlock status"?

Apply for permission, wait to receive confirmation, sign into account on phone and on Mi unlock tool. Bit too Fastboot mode, on Mi-unlock tool it gets to 99% and then should give you a message to wait 360 hours. This is correct, it will work after the amount of time (about 2 weeks).
Thanks,
But this problem got even worse. I updated to MIUI 9.5 from MIUI 9.1. The update failed. It is not possible to boot into Android either. I even tried formating data. The bootloader is locked. I applied permission and already received it.
I bought the phone via China Mobile.
I suspect that my ROM may be a fake one. But it looks totaly original.
1. 4 digit version code
2. NCKMIEI --> Official and correct MIUI 9.1 version
3. Gapps preinstalled
4. No bloatware
5. Everything looks the same like the original ROM
6. Even Mi Remote is working
What I'm thinking about now is how is the Mi status "Unlocked" even I didn't even enter the approved Mi account used to unlock the bootloader.
I know the bootloader is really "locked" because

I'm currently trying to flash CN MIUI ROM through EDL mode (test point) because Global ROM failed. Then try to unlock bootloader from CN MIUI ROM and re-flash Global ROM through MiFlash
Okay, so the phone runs fine now. The phone now runs CN MIUI 9 9.5.3.0 stable version. I am still waiting for the 360 hours (15 days) man!!! for the bootloader unlocking. I applied for the unlocking. Will update when I successfully return to Global Stable ROM.
I flashed CN MIUI 9 ROM via test point. When it reboots, it will show you the error you've encountered before. Relax! Just reboot and wait for about 15 minutes and your phone is alive again.
Thanks Xiaomi for the INCREDIBLY TIGHT SECURITY ???

There is some risk you have to take in order to flash via EDL (test point) mode.
1. You have to backup all of your data. When you flash via EDL mode, your phone will return to "stock" like when you first buy the phone.
2. Flashing via EDL mode will involve removing the phone's back cover. You have to do this if you really want to flash via EDL mode.

Yes. You can unlock bootloader after flashing with EDL mode.
Only use China ROM if you bought your phone from China. If your phone is International phone / not bought from China, I advice you to flash Global ROM first. If it doesn't work, then try China ROM.

Have you tried a different account? Try registering a new account and don't change anything. Then apply unlock bootloader permission at https://en.miui.com/unlock/. After applying for permission, enter your account details in Mi Unlock Status.
If you have a PC, download Mi Unlock Tool here: http://miuirom.xiaomi.com/rom/u265827351/2.3.803.10/miflash_unlock-en-2.3.803.10.zip
Open Mi Unlock Tool by clicking miflash_unlock.exe.
Enter your login details and reboot your phone to fastboot mode.
Plug in your phone.
Press unlock.
If successful, you will see a message with "After 360 hours of trying to unlock device"
This is normal.
You need to wait for 15 days to try to unlock the bootloader.
There is no quicker way to overcome this. I also waited for 15 days. Also please don't keep pressing unlock in your PC when the 15 days is not over. It will block your device and you can't unlock again.

Locked bootloader, stuck in recovery mode.

Hello guys.
I recently bought this phone and wanted to use netflix, but didn't allow me because it outdated and said it was not compatible with my phone. So I did a bit of research and found a post in "mi community" that said it was because phone had bootloader unlocked. The phone was new and I didn't change anything of it, but I found the bootloader was unlocked.
Installed fastboot and adb drivers, locked bootloader and got myself into a... Brick?
-I can still load into fastboot.
-If I turn on the phone, It tries to load android but loads Mi-Recovery 3.0 instead. Recovery also says "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device"
I'm so lost from this point, I need to know if there is a way to flash any rom, and which one do I need.
Thanks in advice
stuck on recovery
Most likely a chinese phone that came with global rom. If it came with global rom try flashing chinese rom and then unlocking bootloader and reflash global. Do not lock bootloader after flashing global.

Try searching for tools below which might help.
Saki / XiaomiADBFastbootTools
XiaomiADBFastbootTools-6.5.1-Win
I had hard bricked mine and had to take back off and use EDL to revive.

If you can flash global ROM. I think you just need to unlock bootloader and then flash China ROM once you have unlocked bootloader.

It lets me flash de global one, but when I try to do the same with chinese rom, it says the version is lower, so I can't "downgrade".
It's weird because according to version number, the global one was a few versions lower
Solved the issue
The same issue , i was also encountered , After Flashing with "Xiaomi_Mi_Max_3_V10.2.1.0.PEDMIXM_20190226.0000.00_Global_9.0" Mi Max 3 with the MiFlash20191206 tool , by default the tool used "Clear data and Lock".
The tool saying "Flashing" and my phone got rebooted and went to MI Recovery 3.0 and also i got the message as
"This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".
I am not clueless how to proceed. So downloaded the Chinese version and again i tried to flash with above tool. Now tool said that "Can't Erase Locked" phone.
So Now i connected to Miflash_unlock with fastboot and connected to mi account and again i unlocked the phone.
Now my phone automatically booted to the Global version.
So i hope the issue is selecting the option as "Clear data and lock" . We need to select only "Clear data" in the flash tool.

Hi there,
I encountered the same issue. I tried to flash some CN Rom without enough research, without knowing that you can't just flash an Android 10 rom from 9 directly by recovery (even TWRP). So I ended up Fastboot or TWRP but never able to boot into system. Fortunately I didn't flash my Max3 by fastboot rushly, so my phone was still unlocked.
This is how I solved it:
1. Download an official CN ROM (the below I used is MIUI 11 with Android 9.9.x);
I can't post link here but search "miui通过线刷升级" - you shall see a miui.com link ending with shuaji-393.html. That's the page I download the Mi Max3 ROM from.
2. Use MiFlash to flash the official ROM with the flash option "clean all", NOT "clean All and lock";
3. The phone shall reboot into system, give it 5-10 minutes;
4. Flash the miui.eu ROM you like (DO make sure it is Android 9 tho) by recovery (tutorial given under every official xiaomi.eu ROM download).
Again it's easy to search
It took me less than an hour to do it (I don't have much experience with new XiaoMi phone). So don't worry about bricking your phone forever.
Hope it helps to destress
Hi guys. I need some help too because I'm not totally sure what I have to do here so if anyone can give me some tips I would appreciate it.
I just ordered the 128gb 6gb ram version of Mi Max 3 and it might come with the global rom and already unlocked. Should I use the Mi flash tool to install the file MIUI 11 V11.0.3.0.PEDCNXM android 9 fastboot file? then after that installs I should lock the bootloader and then unlock it again myself with my mi own account? I just want to make sure that this is the correct way to do it.
Also after it I unlock it should I flash the newest xiaomi.eu rom with android 10 or do i have to do something else first? Thank you

Bootloader locked Global ROM on Chinese Version

Hi, I bought a Mi 9 SE, and I saw it was the chinese version with the global rom (so it was unlocked).
because of this GPay wasn't working so I tried to instal twrp and magisk. The twrp I found couldn't decrypt the phone data and I didnt want to lose my data so I tried sideloading the magisk zip...
This was a bad idea beacuse the phone couldn't boot normally. I finally found a twrp version that can decrypt the phone. Then a installe magisk from the phone but it wasn't working (probably i ****ed up something in the first try)
I then try to flash with Mi Flash tool the global ROM.... but I didn't notice the "clean all and lock" was checked by default... (damn you xiaomi). So now it cannot boot with the error "this miui version can't be installed on this device"
Because i didn't unlock the bootloader myself I cannot unlock it with mi Flash Unlock tool....
Is there a way I can fix it without EDL??
For what I have found, for EDL I need the test points and maybe an account with edl permission?
Also I don't want to open the phone becuase is new.
Looks like there is no other way if bootloader does not open.you need an authorized account for edl.
Try fastboot oem unlock xd

I have solved it flashing a chinese rom instead global rom.
Good time of day!
I have the same problem… I mistakenly flashed the Mi flash firmware of my Rn8 Pro, with subsequent blocking (I forgot to check), which absolutely could not be done with a ROM phone from China. The phone went to bootlop. The following attempts to flash the phone with Mi flash end with a message that the phone has a blocked bootloader. SP flash flashes successfully, but the bootlop problem remains…Is there any solution to restore the phone..? Sincerely.
same issue.

Question (closed) I *accidentally* uninstalled the mi account system app while debloating... (Xiaomi 11T)

Now my phone is locked and I have to enter my mi account password.
But when I enter my password, it just sends me to the same screen again (probably because the app is missing.)
I have no Idea how unlock my phone now?!
It is rooted, but I cant run any adb commands.
I'm on V14.0.2.0. Reflashing didn't help. Is there a way to maybe reinstall the app or to unlock the phone without doing a full wipe?
The problematic apk is com.xiaomi.account (at least I think so, the issue didn't appear immediately and uninstalled other system apps too)
I am very thankful for any kind of help : )
Use Miflash and dont re lock the bootloader(data will be removed).

I reflashed my rom, this time wiping all data.
It works now, but my files are sadly gone.

you need to download your firmware, extract the boot.img file, patch it in the magisk manager app and then flash it (fastboot flash boot <boot.img>) in fastboot mode.
look up the official guide for installing root with magisk, works just like any other phone
