I found this explanation somewhere on the internet that might be helpful :
Media Storage is a system process that is needed when you view, download, play, and stream images, videos, audio files, and other media files. As a system service, it is not available from your phone desktop.
When you click "Clear Data" in Media Storage, all the app's data, including the files produced during the using of the service, settings, accounts, database, and more will be deleted permanently.
It WON'T remove the media files stored on your device like your photos, videos, and audio files. If the media files are gone or missing after you choose "Clear data", it's probably because you have accidentally disabled Media Storage.

The problem is we just can't "Clear Data" is Media Storage app, the option is greyed out! My 128Gb 9RT is showing about 58Gb of space under Media Storage and there is no way I can clear it!!

Hi! OnePlus solved it with Android 13!

You can use a file browser that has a search feature.

I can't verify that this works right now (although coming from Chris, I'm sure it does) but I can write you a script to do this if you need it. I don't think these files come back on boot or anything, right? But if you have a ton of these files, it might be helpful.

I had the same problem and was driving me crazy. If you have Google+ account and uploaded pictures there then that's where your album is located. Sign on to google and delete the album. It will disappear from your phone. Now if you don't have a google+ account then I don't know what the problem could be.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I disabled google+ so i know its not that. It says its a coversation.
So i went ahead and removed my google photos sync and it went away, have no idea what it even was.

[Q] Installing / transfering apps to sdcard

Just borrowed a friends samsung note and noticed that l can't find a way to install or transfere apps to the sdcard. Is there a special technique or am l missing something?
I know that only some apps can transfere content , but so far haven't been able to find anything that has that ability?
Anyone?
Go to settings, General, Application Manager.
Swipe to left to get to "SD Card" column. Here you'll see apps that can be moved to card. Click on app name, you'll see a button to move.

In the application manager, you can scroll to the left or right and you'll see a list called "on sd card" and those can be moved.

Adoptable storage and apk package installer don't play well together.

So i did format my SD card as an internal storage for 2 reasons: * i want to mange my SD card photos using Google photos (currently every time it forces me to open the built-in gallery just to delete a photo)
* Google Camera app can't save photos to SD card (i like HTC camera, but every time i tap to view my shot it lags for a second)
Using adoptable storage fixed both problems, but it introduce new ones. some apps by default install a part of the apk on the SD card.

Like super hexagon and threes.
Now i just can't install those using an APK file,, it just says "App not installed" so i did go to Google Play and install both of through Google Play, and that went fine!. but i toke 4 hours!! because downloading from Google Play is just a nightmare in my country. i Have to use my backed-up APKs.
Any idea?

Waze Voice prompts showing up in Google Music?

Hello All,
I noticed something very strange in Google Music app.
It looks like all of the generic voice prompts in Waze are showing up as "downloaded music" in Google Music.
I have attached a screen shot. The really annoying part, is that they will play along with my music if I have it on shuffle, or if they are the next on the list.
There are 24 total tracks in the list.

I use waze a lot, I guess I will try and deleting the app, and see if they go away?
-Jason
Deleted Waze...still there
So I deleted Waze, deleted all of the data from the Google Play Music app and it looks like all of the tracks are synced with my google play cloud.
I am going to manually delete them I guess?
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
-J
in the folder where they are located on your sdcard.... create a blank file named ".nomedia" might do the trick. probably need to manually delete from cloud too
