This means that Google joined the growing list of companies that - at least officially - care for the Right to Repair. Since the EU is about to pass legislation (will still take a certain amount of time until it comes into effect) that will force companies to simplify battery removal, and other sustainability changes, this change of heart doesn't come as a surprise. But it's still ofc nice to see companies acting without immediate pressure.

This is a very good thing and about time, my only concern is the parts will all be sold with a hefty profit and therefore will not be very attractive to most people given you could bugger the phone up completely trying to repair it.

I'm from Cologne (Köln).
Maybe the event will be at the (2008 opnened) Microsoft building at the Rhein in Cologne.
Yes, it's a giant M(icrosoft) with its own Lufthansa Check in and Marina.
If its in a smaller location it can be at 4010 (a new Concept Stor by Deutsche Telekom).

sorry but Nokia do not show any devices to this event

I really hope we see some WP7 devices from Nokia, soon. I always liked their phones in the pre-Smartphone area and hope that their Windows phones will be as good as their old stuff used to be.
More to the point, Nokia need to get there devices now, certainly before the next iphone, as soon as that comes out it will be game over as far as building any momentum is concerned. If it comes out before hand and its the n9 design as leaked (great design by the way) and its pushed heavily with advertising across the board then they might stand a chance.
Its all well and good being hush hush on future devices, but on a launch like this with a new phone on a new os (for them at least), they need lots of stock, lots of advertising, and they need confirmed dates that the public can await and look forward to. So far Nokia have been far to slow yet again to react, which is the reason there in this mess to begin with.
my 2cents anyway.
Unless I am WOWed, I'll stick with old HTC...good dependable phones for the most part....
I hope the first Noika models to the US are fully maxed out with front camera and all the bells you can wish for. Not the low end, low price point models they are talking about.
Mayby they show a N-GAGE like Windows Phone 7.5 for Gamers!?
IMO a phone with Joypad-like Buttons and Xbox LIVE (more great games will come after Mango release with all the new API) would be THE phone for Gamers.
Day one for me!
I will be there with my hawkeyes. Strength of the hawk
Check out todays BING picture!
This can't be randomly...
I'm excited they've always had the best hw

Nice, intentional.

Don't buy from cellphone_parts on eBay

Doesn't list the item as OEM... but claims it was via message.
Not OEM. Poor fitment. Cracked already and had imperfections.
Doesn't line up with the flash, pushes up against the speaker and camera. No bueno.
This is the follow up from a previous post that was floating around.

Cool story bro, I have been buying parts from ebay for almost 10 years & never had an issue.
Anyone that says one thing PM and another on the add is suspect and should not have been given business. Period.
Maybe the shopper should do more research 1st next time.
There is a company in China that goes by the name "OEM".
So the eBay sellers often use that MFG to sell products, pretending to be true "OEM" products.
Very confusing and eBay should put a halt to this practice.
Really needs to be a craigslist type of system where users can "flag" this or other types of auctions.

I hit my 10 year anniversary couple months back and it was never an issue for myself until recently. Way too many things from China. I've learned to just not buy anything from China anymore. The thing is... the Chinese manufacturers will have a warehouse in the US and ship it all from there. Then they claim to be state side. Bummer.

[APP]Google Glass { voice activated home launcher} Alpha

Found this on Google+. So I decided to try it and found that it is a voice activated launcher that listens to your commannds after the screen is unlocked. Its still in Alpha stage and I have to warn you though, it crashes sometimes and even may cause random reboots. Use at your own discretion.

Google Glass has been Google’s most controversial product in recent memory. The device brings up many privacy concerns that society hasn’t quite come up with an answer for just yet. Congress is even looking into potential legislation to control how Glass can be used (a most*efficient use of their time, I’m sure.) Glass is shrouded in mystery because, well, nobody is really sure what it’s going to be used for.Very few people have had the*privilege of using Google Glass. As of this writing only Google employees and winners of the Google Glass Explorers program have been able to experience the wearable hardware. Explorers even paid a $1500 after they won the competition to use Glass. Today, thanks to dev hacker*extraordinaire*Zhuowei Zhang, many people will get to try them on for free! Well… maybe not try them on.Zhang has taken the glass source code released to the community and modified it to run on Android phones. Believe it or not it actually works! You sadly won’t get the full augmented reality glass experience, unless you duct tape your phone directly to your forehead (please don’t do that!) However, you do get a cool glimpse into the software that makes the whole experience possible.
By downloading the hacked Glass home APK, then grabbing the Camera, Maps and Setup plugins you can shout out, “ok glass” commands to your heart’s content. Not everything works. The Glass Maps application, for example, sadly will not recognize taps. It refuses to go beyond the warning screen above. I even ran into some of the infamous voice recognition problems. When I asked glass for directions to Jackson, it instead did a Google search for Samuel Jackson. Everybody loves Samuel Jackson, but I don’t think I would want him plastered to my eyeball when I”m trying to get home!

Where to buy original spare parts for Mi Max? (LCD assemblies, more importantly)

Hi everyone, I know this is not the most popular phone nor forum but I'd like to have more information as to where to get original/OEM spare parts.
My best friend was in love with this phone but the glass broke; he replaced it with a non-genuine assembly and the touchscreen quality was horrible. Now he's after an original assembly but it's very hard to find accurate information. I tried asking on Miui here but except one member mentioning Honorbuy, nothing suggested has been really helpful.
Has anyone here bought from Honorbuy, and if so, is it a reliable retailer? What is not very comforting is that the pictures of the assembly they sell are exactly the same as the one my friend bought on Aliexpress so the chances it is a genuine part are quite thin. Otherwise, is there a reliable seller or website for Xiaomi or just phones in general?
Or even better, is there a way to directly order from Tianma (the manufacturer of the assembly) or get in touch with a retailer working with them? An email has been sent to Tianma, waiting for a possible reply...
Here's what he gets from the information menu somewhere (sorry, no specifics) :

Thanks in advance
I bought a screen assembly from aliexpress.com
It wasn't perfect (a few bright spots at max brightness) but it worked fine. I just ordered another but I accidentally chose a Mi Max 2 screen :silly:
I hope it fits...
Wow I never got a notification for your reply, sorry. How did it go with your screen replacement?
Problem with Aliexpress, is that you can't really trust sellers. I've tried to contact so many of them who supposedly provide original (written in uppercase of course) screens but after a long discussion, they admitted it was at best OEM but not original, and I supposed it was just good quality copies.
My friend did some research on his side and he possibly found the way to identify a genuine assembly, as in the picture here :
What saddens me is the trend of the whole industry to prevent people from buying original spareparts. And also manufacturers not wanting to open their channels so that they can provide a repair service at a much higher cost; problem : what do I do when official repair service isn't provided in my country?
I'm not willing to rant anyway, but I'd appreciate if someone knows a reliable provider for screens in general.
