Question How do i turn off "F***ING AUTO FOCUS" it's bloody annoying! - Moto G30

Getting sick and tired for trying to make a video or a picture and it auto focuses, i see no way to turn it off... bloody hell!
Please help!
And thanks to anyone that helps!

Great first post.
Edit: OP better...

for photos, just use the Pro mode, and leave everything else on auto
for videos, buy a separate video camera, or pester motorola to add a Pro video mode, or learn to deal with it
you can just tap to select what point it'll try to autofocus on, too

The problem is that tap to focus doesn't work with this device.

[Q] Zoom on camcorder, where is it?.

Hi, well that's my question.
Is there an option to zoom while recording?. When you put the phone on photo mode you can use Volume key (+ -) but when you change to camcorder mode it does nothing.
So...Zoom on camcorder, where is it?.
I'd appreciate some answers about it.
most devices aren't able to zoom during video..
its the same with my "pro" camera .. (not a phone - a real camera)
don't think that defy is able to do so. (just guessing)
best regards,
mike
In my current phone, I can't set the zoom level whist recording, either. However, I can adjust it prior to pressing the record button, so that the whole clip is recorded with the newly defined zoom level. Check whether such a behavior applies to your case too. It's not the ideal situation, of course, but still...
Just my 2 cents...
Regards,
Carlos
Mi old Nokia 5320 and my older Motorola RokrE2 could do it.
It's a shame Alarms don't work with the phone turned off and now this.

Video Starts Recording Immediately Annoyance

No one is bothered that video stats recording immediately as soon as you switch to video mode in the camera app?
Sometimes I like to load up video mode, set the zoom and wait for whatever is going on in front of me to start before I start recording.
Can't do that with this phone. As soon as I click video it starts recording. I can hit pause, set the zoom and wait, but I still have a couple of second of unwanted video at the start.
Am I missing something? Why in the world would they have designed it this way?
I think of it as always being in both camera and camcorder standby. They basically removed an unnecessary step so you can grab the action faster. You can zoom prior to hitting the video (record) button.

I see,I guess just think of the video button as the record button. I didn't know zoom would hold when doing that, but it does. That should be fine then.
Flash also seems to come on in video mode if it's set to auto and not enough light. Not sure you ever want flash on with video though?

Google Photos and "auto enhancement"

Hi all
Can anyone else confirm if they have this "feature"
In Google Photos (not the old? google+ photos or whatever it was), when flicking to a photo so swiping to next photo, a split second after the photo is on screen it then changes colour tone or whatever.
There seems to be an auto enhance feature and its doing my head in.
No option anywhere to seemingly turn that off!
Hopefully I have not just made anyone aware of it which will now drive them insane
If others can confirm / deny and share my hate for this "feature" then maybe we can present our case to Google to at least allow that to be turned off.
Yeah man I've noticed that before but never thought much of it. There is definitely a little bit of a shift shortly after loading a new pic.

[MOD] Improve front facing camera in any app, allow rotation 180 degrees

Hi xda-friends
Today I want to share with you a way to allow any app to rotate the phone 180 grades, as it does in the built-in camera app, to use the front-facing camera in a more natural way for selfies and front-facing video calls. Here some apps where it will be useful to enable this rotation:
- Google Allo
- Google Duo
- Hangout
- Instagram
- Messages Google
- Whatsapp
I want to leave clear that I'm very happy about this device, however, considers this a way to "solve" the deficient location of the camera in some situations.
Download this app and then follow the video instructions:
"Rotation - Orientation Manager"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pranavpandey.rotation
Video/Instructions:

PD: Hope it useful for you, and sorry for the English grammar/spell errors.
This one even works with snapchat, I tried a few which turned snapchat too but in the end the picture was still upside down. With this one you can use snapchat perfectly fine with the device upside down
It's nice and you even can block the annoying "overlay detected" notification with AutoNotification, but still I have to grant app permissions to change system preferences every time I reboot. Anyone knows a workaround?

Ya inside the App > Settings > Disable Toast messages and Notification this will hide this overlay toast messages and also the permanent notification in the notification area.
it's cool and it works even without root. i used it before i was able to unlock and root my device.
be careful, i forced rotation on all apps, even the launcher screen, and then i uninstalled the app. the always rotate was still active and i couldn't turn it off. i had to reinstall the app and disable rotation, then uninstall again.

How did you setup the rotation after you have root access? Is there a module for magisk?

How did you get it to work with snapchat? on newest xiaomi.eu it rotates the app, but the camera image rotates with the app, so in the end I get an upside down camera feed
Still not working for me. I'm using MIUI 9 global version on a mix 2s and it looks like it's working just until I take the photo. Right after I press the button the photo turns upside down. In videocalls I see myself in the right way but I'm upside down in my friends' screen.
Is there another fix? The bug still exists in MIUI 10?

Same problem using miui global dev
I'm looking to find some other solution for Snapchat and probably some other apps, let me do some research first and then I'll go back to all of you with, if possible, a solution.
i tried a Whatsapp Video Call and my image is upsidedown for other people
Nice app, unfortunately there isn't a preset that works with B612 application.
Has any of you fixed the WhatsApp video calls with this app? I was not able to do so :/
Great tutorial. Worked with google camera as well.:good:
It's not work in WeChat:crying:
for those like me who have the problem that when you take the photo on instagram the photo is turned upside down, just activate any filter and take the photo and it won't be turned upside down, I don't know why but it works, I suggest you look for some empty filter if you just want to take a selfie. Sorry for my bad english i'm italian
Its not working for me, imposible to use this phone as this way...

Question Turn off camera's shutter sound

Make sure your Bixby Routines is intact (not debloated).
Steps :
1. Go to 'Settings' then 'Advanced Settings'
2. Scroll down to Bixby Routines, then toggle on
3. Tap on Bixby Routines then chose 'Add routine' tab
4. On 'if' section tap on plus sign
5. Scroll down to 'Event', choose 'App Opened', select 'Camera'
6. On then section, tap plus sign, select 'Notifications' then select 'Do Not Disturb', select 'On'
7. Tap on 'Next' then give the routine a name of your choice and optionally color or icon.
That's it. Do not disturbed will be automatically off when camera app closed. Let me know if there is a more convenient way.
In camera settings, turn off shutter sound toggle.
For some reason, I do not have that option
What's your firmware?
I'm still on this attached version, August security update. I'm aware update is on the way, but still nothing til two days ago.

In some regions, turning off camera shutter sound is illegal which might be the reason why you don't see the option in camera settings.
Shutter sound is always turned off when mute is on with my A52s. So, on the one-off occasion that anyone will need sneaky photos just turn on mute. How hard could it be?

Well, I guess all comes down to intention. For instance if you want to take a snapshot of a page in a library, not a person without one's consent. I used to have a working app for Android 9, which no longer works. So this is just like a workaround so you do not forget to restore your standard sound settings.

If you can't remember to restore sound after taking a silent (sorry if I used the word sneaky) photo, then I can’t imagine how on earth you are able to handle other stuff on your phone. There is an icon in the notification area to make you aware of the silent mode. If the notification sound is of life and death importance, you will only forget it once and the next time you turn it off you will remember the horror and turn it on again after taking that SILENT photo.
