Question Signal App Notification Issue - iQOO 9

Hello,
I have got this great phone, with OriginOS, unfortunately. Removed most of the Chinese apps. Now the phone is doing well.
I have one single issue. "Signal" app DOES NOT WORK.
I removed vivo.pem. The phone is much better with notifications generally, although the battery drains way faster.
However, the Signal app notification still does not work. I tried every single solution out there. Nothing worked.
Current situation: I receive the messages. I get the notification "sound", but nothing visual. No bubble. No kuck screen notification. No floating. No nothing. Sound only.
I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it dozens of times. Joined beta. Left beta. Installed from play store. Installed from app source.
Nothing worked.
One piece of information that might help. When installing the app, I get the first couple of notifications " visually". Then it stops. And this can be repeated. So, every time I uninstall it and reinstall it again, I get a couple of notifications before it stops.
Again, all permissions are given to the app. I do receive the messages, but not the notification. I either need to hear the sound or open the app manually to check them.
All my other communications apps work flawlessly. Whatsapp, outlook, sms.
Please help.
I have IQOO 9 Pro.

I have a similar issue with Google Message. I do not get notificiation at all.
I do get them on my smartwatch though. Go figure !
This Origin OS is a bit of mystery tbh.

Same. I get the notification on my garmin watch. What's happening?

Try a light theme, maybe the dark one on the dark one has problems with notifications.

SW3 doesn't display notifications

Hi,
about 2 day ago my SW3 stopped displaying notificaions like Facebook Messenger, SMS (stock application), calls. I tried reinstalling everything - factory reset, reinstalling Android Wear application etc. It helped for some time but after few hours it stopped displaying notifications again.
Google Now works, Coffee (SMS) works but stock SMS or calls or Messenger aren't display on my wrist.
I'm not 100% sure (I tried new ROM) but I believe that I wasn't changed anything. Android Wear application was upgraded twice and it's name was changed, could it be the reason?
I haven't install any new application.
Aby idea?
Thanks.
P.S. I have Samsung S6 with custom ROM. SW3 is on stock.
Are the notifications displaying on the phone in the Notification bar?? If not, then it's a problem with the phone and the ROM. New ROM may be blocking notifications. I have Notification Manager in my Settings which allows me to change notifications. The watch will only display notifications that appear on the phone.
Did you make sure to enable Notification Access in the phone's settings?
The designer can disable notifications in the watchface, could that be it?
Sent from my KFTHWI using Tapatalk
I could see the notification in the bar and everything was enabled.
Now, although I didn't made any change it started working again well. I don't understand...
Thanks for trying to help.
Guessing its the rom
It sounds similar to the problems I am experiencing. Everything works fine for a few hours after a factory reset, but then I am stuck with no notifications from Gmail, Hangouts stops syncing new messages, no remote controls for Play Music, etc. There is still connection with the phone... Find My Phone still works, Ghostracer still syncs my runs (eventually).
I've tried several factory resets and still it happens every time. The watch was working great until a few weeks ago, very frustrating.
I have exactly the same problems as above.
Smartwatch 3 and Note 4 - both stock. They work for a few hours together after a reboot and then the notifications stop appearing on the phone.
I turn off notifications to android wear and turn it back on again and its ok for a little while and then stops working again.
Anyone got any ideas?
A bit of an update to this. I've now managed to get mine back up and running reasonably well - to the point its been running ok for 2 days. Previously it would only be an hour or two until it stopped sending notifications to the watch.
I deleted the Android Wear App
I performed a factory reset on the watch
Re-install android wear.
Pair watch
It then went through and installed all my apps and since then has worked fine.
I've figured it out. It was caused by restoring nandroid backup in TWRP.
Solution: go to the application manager on the phone, all applications. Find Google services and delete all data including wear storage.
The watch will be forgotted and you have to pair it again but everything should work well.
I was just about to reply to this again as although above I said it was working fine I managed to get it to break again.
The only difference was that I had changed to a non sony watchface.
As soon as i started using a 3rd party one i was getting the same problems again
I've been back on a builtin watchface for a while and its been working fine.
I've just swapped back to a 3rd party one to see how long it works for.

Android O Beta issues

So I was quick to jump on the Android beta O as I was on the N rollout. I should have known there would be issues from when I was on the N beta but nevertheless I couldnt resist.
So far my issues are few but frustrating.
1. Anytime I get a call when the phone is locked it does not wake up the phone. I have to unlock the phone and click answer. Even after doing that theres still a notification that theres a call that I can either decline or answer even after Im already talking to the person. On the same issue, the proximity sensor doesnt work in the fact that when Im on the call the screen is still active and my cheek activates apps and whatnot. When on the call I cannot get to the actual phone app in order to change to speakerphone.
2. This might be silly but when using snapchat there is a significant lag and black screens between clicking on a story and it actually starting. Also in same app, when I try to take a horizontal photo it gets hung up and I have to close the app and take the photo vertically.
3. I dont know if its because Im using a launcher, but I dont get any notification dots on any of my apps. Maybe I have to be using pixel launcher in order for this to activate. Also, maybe I have to disable number notifications in the launcher for the O notifications to take over.
Those are the most noticeable so far but I figured Id get a thread going.
I keep getting Settings FC every now and then reboot doesn't fix it. Sometimes the FC disappears and settings works fine then it comes back again not sure what's causing it

Apparently pip only works with YouTube red or Google duo, neither of which I have to try. I did get another update about 5 hours after the initial update. It was much smaller than the first download.

I have both and it still does not work I also received the update
PIP does work in YouTube red for me just not duo. After the beta update yesterday my phones alot snappier. Still significant lag in Snapchat. Also Bluetooth audio does not work when playing music, only works with calls.
For PiP to work I followed this thread
https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-android-o-picture-in-picture-mode/
I don't have YouTube red but it works for me perfectly now. also Bluetooth has been working for me with my jaybird X3. so it might be some devices.

To get P.I.P I had to flash factory image instead of take OTA update. I have YouTube red so the background play can be a little funky with PIP.
Does anyone else have Google Play Music keep showing up in the notification bar? It just keeps popping up randomly. It doesn't start playing music, it just pops up there. I'll clear the panel and it shows up in a few minutes again.

How about the launcher? I don't have the new one. Anyone else? I took the OTA. Maybe I should flash it?

Yeah. Also force closes after a reboot. Widget doesn't work either.
For me, Android Pay stopped working. Says that the phone is rooted, but it is not. Also some apps lag and battery life seems worse. I was thinking of opting out, but it will wipe out all user data, so I decided not to. Too lazy to restore everything back.
Anybody notice the radio signal is worse? Tried flashing older radios and modems. It got a little better but not as good as nougat.

Its going to be different for everyone. I was just curious. I get average 90 on nougat and 110-115 on O
I've noticed that there are several apps that have newer version available, but won't update or install. You tube, Google App (beta), Calendar (stock), Maps & Transit (beta) won't install when downloaded from APK Mirror, nor are they being updated via the Play Store. They all work fine though, so it's not a big deal. I'm just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same or similar behavior.

Passing Notifications to Smart Watch

I'm having problems getting the P2XL to pass notifications to my Huawei watch.
Phone calls are no problem, phone battery display, weather, steps etc all work fine.
I just don't get message notifications. I've tried using the stock app and Textra but neither works.
Facebook Messenger even works...
edit: I just noticed I also don't get notifications from GMail app.
I've gone in and disabled battery optimisation for Android Wear, allowed every imaginable notification permission but it still won't pass message notifications.
My old Pixel XL was great for this. It worked absolutely every time.

Similar boat here. Moto 360 v2. I use an app called Feel The Wear to give me a long vibration for texts which I get but no message on my watch. Not sure about Gmail notifications but don't remember getting a buzz or card on my watch.

probably not much help but i have a garmin fenix 3 hr and i get all notifications just fine.
could it be a permissions issue? i was prompted to give permissions when i connected the watch the first time.
I had the same issue with my Huawei watch. I had to forget the watch in the phone Bluetooth, clear app data on android wear, uninstall android wear, then re-install android wear and use it to set the watch up again. I did not have to reset the watch. After that notifications worked.

I was prompted for permission when I connected first time too, but... that was before the watch upgraded to Android 2.5
Count me in. I have the Pixel 2 XL and the Moto 360 gen 2. All was working fine except I would stop getting notifications randomly, but rebooting the watch would fix it (even though I turn the watch off most nights until I need to charge it, so it was being rebooted normally already).
Now the last 3 days no notifications. Reboots don't help at all.
When this happens, like the original post said, the watch is still connected, I get battery stats, it shows when audio plays, shows incoming phones calls, just no app notifications like text or gmail.
The only thing left to do is disconnect and reset. I'm still on the Sep 5th security update. I have the Nov security update notification, maybe I'll do that today and see if it helps at all.
By any chance have you NOT downloaded the actual app on your watch? I thought I had a problem too, with Feel the Wear, but then realized I hadn't downloaded the Feel the Wear app on my watch. As soon as I did, everything worked. This is with Android Wear 2 on a moto 360 sport.

Delayed Notifications In Android P

First off, I disabled adaptive battery in Android P. Ever since the upgrade from 8 to 9, I noticed that notifications are right around 5 minutes late. I have a couple time-sensitive apps that I need notifications right away. Gmail and another app for my home automation. In Android 8, the were flawless. However, ever since going to 9, not so much.
I also noticed that when I delete messages in the gmail app for gmail and an IMAP email server I have it does nothing with the messages on the server. I login to webmail from a computer and the messages are still in the Inbox.
Anyone have any ideas? I am going to try a wipe again to see if it resolves the issues, but I am out of ideas. I had the above issues in Android 9 beta as well. I would downgrade and it fixed them.
I have the same thing and it turns out it is a common issue with Pie. I have not found a solution yet. I have read all kinds of things people have tried and nothing seems to help. Sorry that I can't be more positive. Hopefully Google will figure something out and fix in an update.
Here is a two page post I started about the issue but there are also many others online describing the same thing:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/android-pie/904647-notifications-delayed-stopped.html
My thought is that the delayed notifications are due to Android Pies implementation of adaptive battery. Maybe try excluding the apps you want to receive notifications from in a timely manner?
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using XDA Labs
You don't happen to have data saver in the quick tiles turned on by accident do you? That does prevent notifications from getting pushed. Both my parents had this on and a bunch of notifications came through after turning it off. I made sure to remove it from even being an available option.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
been fighting with this issue as well, but it only seems to be gmail, and a couple other apps, my sms notifications seem to come through fine, at least as far as I can tell. I've turned off adaptive battery etc, nothing seems to make a difference. sometimes i can turn my screen on and all the notifications will come flooding in, other times they come through 10ish min later.
yes i have also these issue
and i opened thread on these https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/gmail-sync-problems-pie-t3839357
also i tried many apps, but instead of gmail but yet i didn't find any solution

Made sure it was off early on. No change.
The best way to describe my issue is that once the screen times out and has been off for at least about 5 minutes, notification sounds are delayed. It is sort of like the phone goes into a deeper sleep or something and then the problem arises. As soon as I use my fingerprint to wake the phone, all notifications blast through.
The delay can vary. Sometimes it is only 15 minutes or so, but often it is much longer. It is almost like once in a while an app wants to call home or something and to do so wakes up the phone just enough to allow some notifications through.
There also seem to be some issues with individual apps and notifications that may be fixed when a developer updates their app for Pie. For example, most apps notify immediately when the screen is on or within that first 5 minutes or so after the screen goes off. But since installing Pie, Kuna always has a delay of 5 to 10 minutes before notifying. Kuna does this 100% of the time. In fact if I have the phone awake, looking at the screen when walking out the front door, when the motion sensor is triggered, immediately there is a notification icon. But the sound notification is always delayed. This seems like an issue with Kuna and they are well know for being very slow with updates and fixes but eventually they do fix things. But the notification sound delays described in this thread do indeed seem like a system issue with Pie. Hopefully enough people will have the issue that Google will figure it out and fix.
I am having same issues after updating to Android P. At first, notifications came late about 5 min, but then they started to vary some coming in 15-30 minutes later. Can't figure out what is causing the time difference but either way I can't find a fix. I spoke with Google support and they had no fix as well.

Nope, they didn't mention anything about existing issues or being aware of the issue.
Any one found any solutions or fixes? I feel like my notifications are becoming even more delayed now and have also realized I'm not getting a lot of various notifications at all (through many different apps).
I am guessing you all are aware of this, and have tried, however I just found this recently and thought I would share for anyone that doesn't know.... Settings > Apps and Notifications > Advanced > Special App Access ..... Lots of options here with one of them being battery optimization for individual apps. After I upgraded to P, hardly any of my frequently used apps were given full battery use. Haven't played with all the other options there, however just granting apps full battery seemed to help me out.

One of the first things I tried was giving full useage, (no battery optimization) for all apps that I want notifications from. Did not help. Many other apps are still being optimized. I thought I had previously found a way to turn off all battery optimization but because I do have many apps in that list that are being optimized, I obviously did not. Right now I can't find a global setting to turn off battery optimization even though I thought I did before?
So I noticed this morning, that the main app/notification that's super delayed (5-10min after the event should have triggered) it doesn't happen when my phone is plugged in or i have the screen on in my hand. Even after going through all the battery save features and making sure this app is exempt from them, it still happens if the screen is off, or my phone is off the charger. super annoying. wish there was a fix for this already!

Verizon sent me a replacement because of this problem. I was apprehensive, but got a very nice re-furb. Still have the same problem, but I got a phone that is indicated as Verizon on the LG site. In developer mode, the bootloader unlock button works. I guess everything isn't bad. I sure hope Google straightens this out soon.

This happens only with Gmail on my phone - WhatsApp and Messages send instant notifications. Messages isn't optimized, the other apps are.
I can live with that, no big deal. Perhaps disabling battery optimization for Gmail would fix this, though.
Interesting note: I was talking to YouMail support today about something else but I asked about an issue where I get an email and transcript of a new voicemail but when I go to the YouMail app that voicemail is not shown until I drag down from the top of the screen to refresh the list. Support told me they are aware of this but can not do anything because it is a problem with the "latest Android version causing delay". So it is becoming a more widely known issue and hopefully Google will fix soon.
Thanks for all the feedback. Speaking of delay, I think I have tried just about every fix here and then some and still no luck. Wiping the phone did nothing as well. At this point, I would almost like to revert back to v8 to get this fixed.
I tried this supposed fix, (reply #51). https://forums.androidcentral.com/a...ifications-delayed-stopped-3.html#post6355714
No idea if it worked for me as when you restart the phone you need to do it again and less than 30 minutes after I went through the steps, my Pixel2 got the October update for Pie and required a restart!

Question Pixel 6 Pro won't stop playing notification tone during calls

My Pixel 6 Pro has a similar problem ever since the Mar 5 update has been installed. Since then, every phone call I made comes with the non-stop notification tone literally every second. For now, I managed to get around it by enabling the "DND Mode", but it isn't a long-term solution.
Is there a way I can re-apply the same update? or flashing a new one would help?
To be clear, you're saying that you keep getting the notification tone even after answering the call? If so, is it the same as your ringtone?
Is your bootloader unlockable? If so, Official Google Android Flash Tool (OEM Unlocking needs to be toggled on - you may not have to manually unlock the bootloader - the "site" will do that on its own).
It wouldn't surprise me if that doesn't fix the issue, however. Have you tried rebooting? Maybe clear the cache and app data for the Phone app (but then you'd have to re-customize the settings for the phone app to your preferences).
I'm not on the March update, but I also don't receive many phone calls anyway.
that notification tone, during normal time, represents incoming message. It is very short, unlike a ringtone..
Tried rebooting and clearing cache and app data of the Phone app. In fact, that notification could likely come from anything like WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter...
I noticed that the repeating tones would not happen if the phone is on silent mode. So for now this is my workaround.
Very interesting, and strange. There have been settings in some OEM's phone apps you could enable to get notification tones at regular paces - usually once a minute - while on a phone call, but the issue on yours is only similar since it's constant / every second.
I stick with my recommendation of clearing the app cache and data for the Phone app. I also assume you're using the stock Phone app that Google provides.
In my previous phone (OnePlus 6T), the very same tone happens once in a while, but only at the moment an incoming message arrives. Pretty sure I am not getting a new message every second this time around, and I think it was triggered by apps other than the Phone app. I just noticed that the same symptom showed up when I tried to play video clips from certain apps as well.
And yes, I am using the stock Phone app.
Sounds like a factory reset and only selectively installing and configuring apps, or trying to figure out which app is causing the issue.
If you factory reset, I would first not even restore any apps at all, so you can verify if you have the same problem without any third-party apps installed at first. I would suspect you won't have issues then. And then when you install apps, do it in groups of your most important ones first, maybe at the most 10 at a time, then re-verify each time if you have the same issue or not, then the next batch of app installs. It could be a particular setting in a app as well, so it's possibly merely installing an app might not be enough, so each group of apps you install, make sure and configure them as well.
If you don't factory reset, go the opposite way, uninstall your least important third-party apps and see if the issue disappears. Keep track of which apps you're uninstalling in each group. Keep doing this in reasonably sized groups of apps until you narrow down when the problem stops happening.
Once you find which group of apps being uninstalled keeps the issue from happening, you can reinstall in even smaller batches, among the ones you most recently uninstalled, and eventually find the one causing the issue. In some ways I think it's easier to go the other way around, though, start with a factory reset.
Found the culprit!
Kind of silly: I have installed this app "Internet Speed Meter Lite" when I first started using my P6P, which is for me to monitor my real-time network usage (courtesy of that endless WhatsApp - Google Drive restoring process....). It basically refreshes itself every second and this morning I tried temporarily disabling it, the problem goes away even when the phone is not set to silent mode.
Glad I didn't have to come to the point of factory resetting the device, as I really don't want to go through the WhatsApp restoring process.
Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
