This is a link to the guide for flashing GSI on the S22 (Exynos). The bug list is also present there: PHH Treble Wiki Galaxy S22 (Exynos) Section
To flash a GSI, it is necessary to unlock the bootloader, which in turn trips Knox and voids your warranty (Unless you're in the EU?).
You alone are responsible for all the changes that you have done so far and will do to your own device.

If someone has a suggestion related to the guide itself, possible fixes and even the Google Camera ports/configs for the Exynos variant of the S22, feel free to mention it either here or as an addition to the Wiki.

Hello, thanks for this guide!
Is there any method to install magisk?

Supernoob question, but, flashing this fuses Knox even if it's unrooted? Thanks

Wait, so flashing Knox doesn't void your warranty in the EU? In that case I guess it'd just disable the few Knox features it has on OneUI? I wasn't aware of this, where can I read more?

I've included the link to one of the articles explaining it.
TLDR:
If some hardware (e.g. camera/speaker) breaks out of the blue and is broken even on a fresh stock fw install, they have to fix it or by some miracle prove you broke it.
If you brick your device while flashing a custom rom, they can theoretically charge you for unbricking it.
In any case, I cannot guarantee the correctness of all this information (and thus the "?" at the end of the statement in the original post) as I never had such a conundrum (repair shops would just replace the whole motherboard if I hard-bricked one of my previous devices).
As for Knox-related features/apps, they will probably end up permanently broken (SHealth is a good example).

Could hotspot work on gsi?

Followed instructions.
Booted into recovery then "Enter fastboot"
On top I have fastbootd, but I cant use "fastboot flash system somerandomGSIimage.img"
stuck in < waiting for device > , with fastboot devices I have also no listed devices.
Update:
I think it was an issue with my VM. I did the same on a Linux Machine and everything worked

Thank you :good::cyclops:
Use Kingo root app. Far easiest method.
I'm assuming you do not have a KNOX firmware installed so that's great for you - do NOT perform any software updates from Samsung!
The best method is still using the original method. Remember to flash the kernel if you are staying with the Samsung rom after the root.

Or if you do not feel up to the slightly more technical challenge then you can use the app as mentioned above

How do I check if KNOX firmware is installed?
Boot into download mode.
If there is a line that shows KNOX in it while in download mode then you have a KNOX firmware.

Great, there is no KNOX! :cyclops::good:
Is there a way to flash newer official firmware without including KNOX any other precautions I should take before rooting and flashing a custom recovery?
Kind Regards

Yes u can flash newer firmware and don`t include Knox bootloader
Read this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549357
Thank you all for the help!
If I ever flashed firmware with KNOX, does it mean I can never remove KNOX?
For now - yes
..

Is there a way to remove Knox from the system yet?

I've been waiting since the 4.3 upgrade. Any news?
If it can be put together, it can be taken apart.

Of course knox apps can be removed. Just look at development section of the ND8 ROMs like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2750674
If you are thinking about the problems with the bootloader...that is a different story. If you update your bootloader and modem you cannot change them to an older bootloader and modem.
Is there a newer boot loader that isn't a Knox boot loader that could replace Knox? I want to be able to use custom roms but Knox is blocking any installation and I don't want to risk bricking. I understand i can install custom firmware if I don't include the boot loader but I don't want to have to worry about all that and just get rid of Knox. Any ideas?

I was speaking more about installing zips through custom recovery

Yep. I've had Knox since I got this phone and have literally flashed thousands of things. The only thing it prevents you from doing is downgrading your firmware through Odin.... And when I say prevent, I mean it bricks your phone.
My ROM: WICKED X
Ill have to experiment with that

You can't have issues due to the bootloader. Your KNOX tripped due to root procedure.
1. Now your Knox warranty is void forever.
2. I wonder how you flashed custom ROM. If you follow the procedure to the letter, you should be able to flash most custom ROMs without a single issue.
3. KITKAT bootloaders FND1, FND3, FNE1, etc can't be downgraded no matter what. Whoever gave you the advice to flash MJ5 on NE1 is an idiot (sorry).
4. I hope this bootloader procedure has not messed up with your internal partitions.
5. Your best chance is with Kies. Try out the following procedure and you might get lucky.
6. Install latest Kies. Under tools looks for the option that says, "Emergency Firmware Recovery". It should do the job, but if it fails, go to the option “Firmware Upgrade and Initialization” (images attached for reference)
7. A prompt should pop up indicating that it will reinitialize to the original factory settings. The process would also reinstall the official Stock ROM into your device. Choose “Ok”.
8. Of course you need Internet connection and bandwidth. Without that your phone is a brick.

Samsung A3 2016 bootloader unlockable?

I wanted to root my phone a few days ago and I knew I had to unlock my bootloader, so I decided to search up how. Some people said that there is an "official" way to unlock the bootloader, but I didn't find "an official way" for my phone. Some people said that Samsung phones already have an unlocked bootloader, I don't know if this is true. In some tutorials I needed to use fastboot mode (I think Samsung phones don't have that).
I just want to know if my phone's bootloader can even be unlocked (or doesn't need to be unlocked, idk). If it can be unlocked I would really like to know how as well.
Enable developer settings, go to dev settings and enable oem unlock. You can now flash custom recovery etc, but be aware that flashing custom stuff will get knox tripped.

Ok, so I don't want to be a noob or anything, but I have another question.
What is Knox exactly? I know it's supposed to protect your phone from certain things, and I assume doing things like flashing a custom ROM or something might affect it somehow, but just plainly rooting your phone won't actually do anything right?
Btw I'm using CF auto root to root my phone, just so you know.
There is no "OEM unlock" or anything like that in my "Developer Options"

My device manufacturer is from South Korea, maybe that's why. My friend's device has that option in his developer options in his Samsung A3 phone. But he bought the phone in Indonesia. I will update tomorrow with screen shot, since the device currently is in my office.
Here is the screen shot of developer options of Galaxy A3 phone from my friend

Spay, and shealth will never work on stock once you have been rooted. If you make an unofficial modification to a Samsung, it trips knox which won't go away if you flash stock a thousand times.Oh, and secure folder won't work either.

Just to add....rooting the device triggers an e-fuse which is a physical component that burns out. It cannot be remedied with software and the only way is to replace the mainboard.

Hi, thanks for the reply. so are you really saying there is no solution for this except messing with the hardware? The board may cost the same as another A5 nowadays. Isn't trying a Samsung service center worth it?

I doubt they would honour a replacement for no cost. They will know you've tried to root . warranty is now lost
