Hi everybody. I have a S21FE Snapdragon (G990B) version on BVB3 version so I plan to update to CVC6 and decrypt data for some testing on Afaneh's recovery.
My issue is that data file transfer is slow as hell, even if I use USB3, even with 3 differents cables and ports. Of course I don't want to lose it so I have to wait but to be clear
I've waited for 40 minutes and only approx 4-5Gb of data were copied for 65Gb in total.
Anyone else had this slow data transfer issue ?
I noticed this with a lot of small files. If you zip them, the same amount of data is transfered faster.
@DarkStar9173 Thanks for your reply. It seems to be the same for me. So I used FTP wich transfer big files slower but small files faster. I'm tired of these cables and their slow transfer speed...
I also noticed the S21 FE is extremly slow with transferring files to the pc. I compared it to the S21 Ultra and that one was very fast using the exact same cable. I have no idea why.

Hopefully it's just me but I am getting terrible USB transfer speeds. Like less than 1 MByte per second. It's going to take me all day to transfer over my Pics and Movies.. I think it would be faster using FTP over Wi-Fi. Anyone else seeing this?
I am using the same computer and connection that I use with my Droid 3 and the Droid 3's transfer speed is much much faster.
Mine transfers hella slow too. I think it has something to so with it not being actually mounted.

I disconnected and reconnected using a different port on the same computer and now it's more "normal" speeds. Not exactly fast but about the same speed as the Droid 3. Not sure if it was the port or just the disconnect and reconnect that did it.
that is normal for MTP transfer
if you want fast transfer speed, flash CWR and boot into recovery to mount USB

Umm, I guess it depends on what you mean by SUPER SLOW?

I believe that is because the GNex has built in memory. Anytime I tried to transfer data from my Thunderbolt with the card inserted it would be slow. using a connector I was able to transfer ~30GB of data in roughly 1.5-2 hours. The file transfer says to expect 10+ hours to transfer 20GB to my GNex.

Increased transfer speed
I was on another site and saw a suggestion to turn on USB debugging.
I was in the process of transferring a movie (1.24 GB) and the transfer time was about 1 hour for an hour and 45 minute movie. I followed the suggestion and the time dropped to 8 minutes!!!
The actual time was less than 5 to copy to my GNex. Hope this helps...

I've always had my PC tell me to expect a time that was way longer than actual transfer time. I don't think it'll take 10+ hours.
Hi all. I'm running the stock rom, fully updated, on my Sprint GS3, and it's rooted. I bought a 64GB SanDisk microSDXC and formatted it in fat32. Transferring files to it directly from my PC with a USB adaptor gets me ~6MB/s transfer rate, but when transferring files to it through the phone, the speeds are at a crawl. Nearly 500 KB/s.. Is there any way to speed up these transfers? I have an otterbox on the phone and having to pull it out to transfer files everytime just seems like something that can be avoided.. Thanks for the help

Apparently, after looking into it further online, it seems to be related to MTP on this phone... This app seems to solve it for the phone... but I'm unsure if it will work on our Sprint version?

Coming from USB mass storage/sdcard on a HTC HD2.. Sorry to say but MTP has got to be the worst feature on galaxy nexus. Slow speed and Unreliable
Using windows explorer MTP transfer is next to impossible. Always freezes for me. Nothing else freezes in my system except when trying to use MTP
Using Wifi Apps such as airdroid to transfer has proven to be unreliable and slow when transfering big files or folders. It always times out.
Using windows program call QtADB_0.8.1_windows over usb to transfer my files now. It is actually quite reliable. Unfortunately, speed is still slow. I would estimate at about 600kb/sec.
Now the biggest question is does anyone got a better solution out there for transferring files with MTP?
Use adb. I've found it to be the fastest way. :good:

I've never had any issues with mtp in windows. It seems equally as fast as any USB 2.0 connection and reliable. Provided your PC isn't a pile of **** and you have the correct drivers installed ( mind you I let windows update do all the work, no manual installation at all) it should work like a breeze.
If you're getting slow transfer speeds the culprit could be that your phone storage is low. When flash memory gets low on space it fragments the data all over thus reducing speed. Another culprit could be that your using a USB 1.0 port on your PC.

mtp on multiple devices has always been slow for me
and i play crysis 2/bf3 maxed on tv.
it's my low-end pc ($700)
but really, acer iconia a500, some sabsa pmp, gnex, razr xt910, and some other phone all transfer slow regardless of usb port (my corsair flash drive gets up to 100mbps transferring files in the same port).
but i have had mtp work fast a few times, 99% of the time it is laggy and it hates/doesn't allow multiple operations in the drive (one copy operation at a time, can't open two windows in the drive for ease of moving files, unreliability when internally moving files).
mtp is ridiculous it is nice that the device can access the sd card at the same time (but i could just use multi mount sd).

Fragmentation of data on solid state memory does NOT slow down either writes or reads. No heads to reposition, every location on a ssd is instantly available no matter where your last access was from. In fact, with sd memory it is a mistake to defragment because it just burns through the limited number of write cycles the device has, pointlessly.
That said, using a usb 1.0 or 1.1 port is sure going to slow transfers a lot, compared to usb 2.0 speeds. Usb 3 is even faster, of course, but I don't know if any android phones support usb 3 yet.
Remember that usb rated speeds are only achievable on very small transfers, too, and for longer files can get really slow, unlike firewire.

i beg to differ with this statement. On any transfer i've see tested write speeds are significantly slower for multiple small file transfer vs single large file transfer. the overhead from having to read/write the FAT information (file allocation table) for multiple small files slows even my USB3 hard drive to a crawl vs a 700 meg ISO that transfers at 180MB/s

Yes, if you are including file system overhead writes of many small files is slow on any type of connection compared to a single large file. The actual transfer speed of USB (at least prior to 3.0 anyway) is limited in the case of a single large transfer to WAY below the spec speed of USB 2.0 though, falling off dramatically from the initial speed after the first k or two have been transferred and spiking up and down from there until the transfer completes. This is due to the way Intel designed USB, to compete with Apple's (ugh...) Firewire (which has a steady full speed for any sized single file transfer).
The practical result is that for large files FireWire can move data over the link at speeds approaching its rated 400mbps while USB 2 at 480 nominally rated takes a lot longer to transfer the same file. So one should never expect to achieve USB 2's rated transfer speed for large files. For single small files you can get closer...

Hi threre, I'm using the Cable that came with the device (Dash Charging supported. so i legit) and the speed transfer is really slow (not above 5 MB/s) is there something that i missed?

I am having exactly the same problem: 5 MB/s tops of transfer speed with my OnePlus 3T.
Being a USB 2.0 port is no excuse for this. It should at least be 25~30MB/s at least.
There is something else wrong here.
Well if you transfer a single large file, the transfer speed is usually good.. Like 20-30 mbps.. Since op3 utilizes MTP which is already a **** protocol and coupled with usb 2.0 you will have such slow speeds..
I don't find it a issue honestly.. I came from what is it? Below usb 2.0 so.

Kenzo had awesome transfer speed.
Specially in recovery the speed was like a 500mb file took 40 seconds or a minute to the max.
Speed transfer it's kind of good comparing with HTC One m8, but slow for OnePlus 3.., Dash.., type C...
