Question Case with built in screen protector that works with fingerprint reader - Samsung Galaxy S22

So I see that several manufacturers don't offer the clear plastic screen protector layers that snap in any more (Like Supcase Unicorn Beetle and Otterbox Defender). I like these because they offer superior protection while the outside shell is off of the phone, but I talked with the manufacturers and they stopped offering them because they have issues with using a fingerprint reader on some phones. Has anyone found a case that works?

I went through this with a Pixel 6 that I returned (for several reasons) where the snap in middle layer clear screen cover had issues with the fingerprint reader. Seeing that the S22 has an ultrasonic reader instead, wondering if that is an improvement. A couple of manufacturers I have used in the past have removed that clear layer from there cases because of issues. Can anyone verify a case that works with 3 layers (Plastic front cover, plastic rear cover with or without a holster, and a middle clear snap in plastic screen protector.

I've got 2 concerns with my Hero, one is the screen and the other is the camera. I don't want a bulky case, so I was looking at Ghost Armor and Bodyguardz kind of protection, a film covering the phone.
The problem is, I can't figure out if they have cut outs that go over the camera as well or not. If they don't protect the camera, then I don't see the need.
Also, not interested in one that has the "orange peel" feel to it, hence why I was looking at Ghost Armor and Bodyguardz.
Input is much appreciated!
I bought the sprint covers (Comes with 1 antiglare and 2 clear) and took an exacto and made my own lens cover out of a clear one (you could make probably 40 or so lens covers on 1 sheet). The lense's area is roughly 0.9mm so cutting a peice of plastic like this

That's a good idea. How do they feel? Like the screen or are they "orange peel" ish?
Did it work

so how does the pictures come out can you detect that you have a cover on it? Has anyone else attempted this?
Thanks
I have a Wrapsol ultra shield covering the entire front and the back, except for the 8mp camera.
When I do video chats using the front camera, the picture is perfect, so I know the Wrapsol doesnt impede the front camera lens.
What I really like about it is it does NOT have the Orange peel effect you get from Zagg and other full phone "skins"..very happy with it, and I dont use a case any more..
I just posted about this very topic in another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7062618&postcount=32
Zagg rocks! The "orange peel" texture is not as bad as I thought it would be (or has been posted about) and it's well worth it to go "naked".
I got the Zagg Full Body Invisible Shield today. Disappointed in the shield. It is not Full Body. To me, full body means protection of the entire phone. I had Zagg's Full Body Invisible Shield for Nexus One and that was full body because it covered majority of the phone (including the sides as well as the top and bottom portions. This is just 2 piece of shield that covers the front and back. It fails to protect the four corners of the phone (the actual places that gets majority of the scratches/dings). There is no coverage for the two sides and the top and bottom.
Definitely not worth $25. If anyone is looking to buy this product, I wouldn't recommend it.
Zagg has 2 options for full skins now, they have the full, which is front and back and easier to install. Then they have the full "maximum" which has the side pieces as well. It's right on their site with a diagram of the pieces you get. Unless it was purchased from somewhere else such as best buy, then you're stuck with what they've got..
Wouldn't recommend putting the extra piece over the lense of the camera though, sure it will protect it. But all your pictures will be blurry.

I'm confused, you posted this in an EVO accessories forum yet you are asking about your Hero. As far as the EVO goes Best Skins Ever includes a camera protector with their back skin.
The only shield with camera protection currently is Martin Fields
I don't have a different case yet, but the bodyglove case sold at the sprint stores works nicely... I just can't use a case until I finish my mods and repairing the supersonic :x I'll probably be looking for a more rugged model at that time though.

A few things to consider before you buy accessories

1) Most screen protectors do not fit the view 20. The description might claim it fits View 20 and Nova 4 but in reality it will not. Most do not include the cut-out for sensor and camera, and do not cover the screen fully. To be sure the protector fits, get Olixar tempered glass, which is specifically made for Honor View 20. It's more pricey, but well worth the money.
2) Do not buy hard plastic covers for the device. View 20 is full-glass phone and hard plastic covers provide no real protection to it. Get a soft TPU one.
3) Camera lens protection is also recommended, as the lenses touch the surface you place it on, and also very easily scratch. You can get one from amazon for 10 dollars.
4) In a nutshell, there are a ton of accessories available that are supposedly usable for View 20 but in fact aren't. And most importantly, this phone is super prone to scratches so please protect it all around.
You don't need a screen protector, as the View 20 comes with one pre-applied. The phone also comes with a soft plastic case in the box, which when used raises the lens of the camera off the surface.
All the points you've made seem to be totally covered by the items you get straight out of the phone's box.

First of all, the Global Model does not include a case.
Second, the screen protector is incredibly thin and made of soft plastic. It provides very little cover at all. Third, when you put your phone in your pocket, the camera glass will scratch.
I bought the olixar screen protector. Like the one I bought previously there is no cut out for the camera, even though it was shown in the ad on Amazon

I have a Mofi screen protector. It is fantastic at preventing fingerprints. It is, indeed a hard, tempered glass screen protector. It is edged in black, which matches up to the phone's small bezels. There is also a small black circle around the camera notch. I'm happy with it, especially comparing it to the smudgy, original plastic screen protector that came on the phone.
As far as cases go, I've also gotta hand it to Mofi - perfect fit and prefer the fabric cases. I cannot stand the fingerprint prone clear cases. I tried another one, in addition to the one that came with the phone, and I just cannot do it.

Plastic (PET) screen protectors w/ oleophobic? (Eg, factory film Mate20x/Note10)

Hi all,
Anyone knows any good plastic (PET) films being sold on ali that offers a good oleophobic coating?
At first I thought these didn't exist, but then I saw the stock factory plastic films that came on devices like the Mate 20X and Note 10 (recently saw a display unit at samsung store). It is really smooth and resists fingerprints almost as well as dedicated tempered glasses which surprised me, I tested by pressing my thumb directly on the note 10 screen when the display was off, only a faint fingerprint remained and was wiped off easily (pressing the same thumb on my phone with crappy glass yielded a very visible and defined fingerprint and smeared when trying to wipe it off).
I'm very sure its plastic as it can bend (glass doesn't), also probably not a TPU as its definitely not rubbery.. bought a few plastic protectors to test here and there but none of them really has that same quality as those factory film protectors, in many cases the collect fingerprints even worse then the glass they were put on.
Looking for these as I have quite a few devices that have their oleophobic coating worn off and I've tried almost everything to restore them but doesn't work (eg, carnubula wax, sio2 coating, rainx, various "nano" liquid protectors, nada).
Also, being plastic, it is a little more "curve" friendly and it can be cut to fit any devices making it a universal solution as can be easily replaced if too scratched up. Of course it doesn't do much for impact protection but still better then running without anything at all..
Bump.. seeing these on quite a lot of new phones nowadays including huawei and oppo and virtually all samsung phones now (eg, A50, A70 etc)
Anyone knows what kind of film they use from the factory and where we can buy them?
Looking for one too but a DIY alternative is to use rain-x on the plastic screen protector.

Question Which front glass screen Which front glass screen protector

From experience of using front screen glass protectors for the fold 3, which would you recommend for the fold 4?
Yes won't purchase from whitestone due to bad support they gave when trying to get support on screen protector and how rude they were. Even though I used to recommend them a lot before. But when needed. They failed. But that was my experience. Should be decent but haven't used them for more than a year since it happened. With the note 20 ultra release.
Spigen looks decent but haven't used their screen protectors as used AMfilm. But they don't seem to have for the fold. So still seeing on what to use. As well.
But seeing both would be about same warranty just depends on who handles it better.
The Spigen comes with guide to install it but whitestone comes with 2 at a cheaper price.
The good thing of these is not as the note series that they are $30 to $45 per pack.
The Spigen is so easy to install, plus I don't see the point of installing or replace the inner screen protector. We can get Samsung to do it for free? or cheaply after a year.
I went with the non liquid adhesive whitestone simply because i have it on my fold 3 and it works well. Plus the kit came with a film hinge protector as well.
this one. it involve soap water while applying. i dont know if we can apply the inside protector over and bove the stock one on inside screen
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B0B9YQF2LF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Installed the Whitestone last night with no issues. This one is not as easy as the Spigen since there is no lineup template but I like that I received 2 front screen protectors, a camera protector and an edge guard.
can we apply screen procetor above the factory one inside? last year the inside screen protector oleophobic coating got weared off and it was so hard to scroll. this time thinking of applying another one, so that i can change it every 5months or so
I applied the Spigen EZFit on my Fold4 today, came out perfect. They make a great product, been buying their stuff for years.
Recieved my fold 4 today
Immediately i put on spigen glass Tr
The front tempered glass is good
And doesn’t interfere with the case lips
But the hinge protector is not working as advertised.
The hinge protector from spigen is very thin already but after installing it, everytime i open or close the screen it will get caught up and peeled off on edges
Maybe the gap between the hinge and the screen is slimmer this time
So I don’t think we can put any protector on the hinge without interfering with the mechanism.
On my old flip 1 it was ok
I tried the Whitestone and it is smaller than the front screen?!?!?!? I should send it back!

You kinda want a smaller screen protector because the case will take up the rest of the screen

Yeah they all are, so cases don't lift it. I've put a Samsung one on now, not glass one.

Yeah had the exact same thing, took it off, ordered full body skin instead
I also got the whitestone. I must say it perfectly covers the actual LCD part with about 2mm extra glass borders. The camera lense cutout is quite perfect as well, with the face unlock light ring lining up perfectly. I would certainly have preferred the glass to be taller and wider, but that's to prevent case interference as we know. Sometimes later in the cycle certain companies release their "edge to edge" screen protects, would want to see if any of them come up.
The included camera cover also fits quite perfectly, no have issues with the official Samsung case cutout.
The included hinge protector film I didn't try, not sure if it would mess with the mechanism to keep dust/grime out.
Overall for the price, I think it's pretty good.
Waiting for my Whitestone EZ glass screen protector to arrive. In the meantime, I already have a fairly deep scratch in the front glass. Ive babied this phone and have zero clue where it came from.

Accessories Spigen Slim Armor Pro Pen Edition for Galaxy Z Fold 4 Case review/share

Wanted to share with you all, a really good case that is worth the money for this phone, and I am really happy with it.
The case is intended to put on and leave on, hence the adhesive films on the inside of the front cover, the back (with yellow cushioning) just clips on with a strong solid tight fit. The front cover bezel/lip looks to be about 2.5-3mm deep, but accessing the right side soft menu still good. My finger size is about average/medium size and I have no problem also accessing the power button and fingerprint sensor on the side beside the s-pen.
Used the glue adhesives on the front screen that were already applied, just had to pull off the backings (They also included an extra set of glue adhesive strips for a second mount if you ever need to take off and put back on) and it fits perfect, lines up with all the holes and speaker grills. The back piece with the hinge cover (with 2 spring loaded hinges), protects the back and fold hinge while the lip around the camera protects the camera lenses. It too also has perfect alignment with holes and has lots of clearance with the USB C port fitting. The hinge cover protector also gives you something to hold/grip when the phone is unfolded.
Suggest you first get a front glass screen protector (I used the Spigen Glastr Ez Fit for perfect alignment and easy application) for the front and camera lenses protectors also before applying this case.
This quality case feels very good, smooth, solid, elegant, and provides a great grippy feel. More importantly, I feel more confident holding the phone with this case on, as it feels like it could weather some accidental mishaps and protect the phone.
In my pictures, you will notice I also put a pop socket on the back centre for four reasons:
1) use for general holding in hand, even more support than the hinge cover protection bump when fully open
2) use as a kick stand for front screen and/or the unfolded full screen
3) use for a magnetic mount that I have in my car - so phone can sit in folded vertical or horizontal orientation and also unfolded orientation, using a pop socket flat mount with the metal plate stuck on the back of it- I just slide my pop socket into the pop socket flat mount holder and then attach to the magnetic mount, which also allows me to:
4) wireless charge at home, by twisting the top half of the pop socket half a turn to remove, when it is pushed in, which will allow a closer clearance for wireless charging through the case as it is all plastic
One critical point based on the design of the spring loaded hinge cover protector, when you do unfold/open the phone to full screen, and you are using the back screen for taking a selfie, you loose about 1 cm of view area on the left of the front screen. This minor con is something I can live with as this is in only this situation and for the design, it is a great compromise having that hinge protection.
In closing, I am really happy I got this case. I was originally worried that it might be too bulky, eventually ending up removing it for a thinner/smaller case, but I think it has a great balance of protection, holds the s-pen on the front side of screen keeping it's thickness down (compared to the Samsung pen/kickstand case, or others in some cases), and one of the few cases that protects the hinge, allowing the phone full protection around the whole phone. Hopefully you found this helpful for your situation.
used to have slim armour pro on my fold 3. i thought same as you and glued the front and back to the phone. i didnt removed for 2 months as theres was no need but after 2 months i wanted to clean the phone as dust clogged in corners, dam that case bonded with phone like a rock. no matter how much i pulled it wont come off lmao. i had to use some 70% alcohol and slowly pried it off. there were several scraches on the front screen border where the case was contacting the phone. also its weighs so much, i dont know why they named it as slim as it aint slim at all. but i have to say that case is like BUNKER and protected my phone from several hard falls
this time thinking of going with latercase as i rarely fold my phone unless im going outside.

I read a lot about people having a challenge to pull the case cover off on the Z fold 3, some had glued the back on also which the current 4 version doesn't have or need, as it snaps on pretty good, but some with the 3 did use the glue strips which made it a challenge to get off. I can't speak to this Z fold 4 vs the 3 case, but having used it a couple of days, I still think it is a solid quality case.
It is a "little" thicker than the Samsung pen case, but not by much, and the pen holder on the Spigen sits in a nice place compared to the Samsung making it thinner right away, even with the hinge on the back when opened up. I understand why they need the glue adhesive on the front protection cover, as it needs to stay locked on especially when you are pulling on the s-pen constantly. What I really like is that it does protect the Fold's hinge area also... the Latercase is super thin, so less protection and the hinge is susceptible when folded with mishaps and for me I use both the front and the inside about the same. I can't see me taking the front cover off for a long time and don't think I will need to clean from the inside on the front panel as the fit is super tight, but the back can be snapped off easily if necessary. There are a lot of people that have used the Latercase as it is thin and has good grip, but doesn't have the "bunker" safety. As I mentioned in my closing casual review, I was afraid the size of the case would be too much for the protection it offers, but it is a lot better than I thought it would be in terms of weight/thickness and with the hinge protection and great pen storage location, I am very happy with it.
I recommend stick for example transprant tape for hinge to protect before scratches from this case. Every unfold and fold device i saw more scratches on the tape and thanks for it no on the hinge
I did it on my fold 2 from first days and now look like new.

Had the same issue with mine. Damaged and scratched my z fold 3 due to the case adhesive.
Tried to go another route for my fold 4 and got the vrs terra guard modern case, It looked alright & initially I was happy as it had Good Protection. It felt more plasticy than the spigen version but i liked the design so ignored the finish.
Over my 4 days of use I found that the magnets in the hinge created big dead spots in the inner screen where the S-Pen wouldn't register.
Screen protector included is much smaller than the active screen area. (So basically useless)
The hinge created a weird noise while opening and closing which i ignored and it eventually broke after 4 days of use (the hinge created tension in the plastic holding it and lifted the inner base of the case and broke).
Thankfully no damage to the phone.
I'll probably try the iblason or supcase I saw on some youtube channels they looked solid and only had one small piece of adhesive tape for the top cover.

Spigen screen protector for the outer small screen is very good. Although its not edge to edge which will hinder with cases.

So far, I don't see anyone has managed this on a fold 4! The hinge film gets pushed off when you open the phone as the tolerances are much tighter than the 2 and 3

Interesting, so in this case scratches problem can be unfortunetly hard to resolve.
After over a month with the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Pen Edition case, it is holding up great. Haven't had any close ones or miss-haps to talk about, and the under the hinge protector, minor dust, which is cleaned out easily with a clean micro-fibre. The case gives me the confidence that it has that 100% protection. Very well designed with upgrades to it since the first one they offered for earlier folds, I have to say this is their best design yet. Everything just works well, the case, the EZ glass front protector, the pen holder, the camera lens cover protection, the removable pop socket with the metal stick on that works with my car magnetic mount and the ESR phone boost kickstand. As for the fold 4 itself, no issues and works well with the Watch 5 pro and Buds 2 pro. The only one thing I wish it did have is a wider front screen similar to the Mix 2/Vivo Fold, but with all the pro's, in Canada, it is the clear winner for Folds here.
For its price, its terribly expensive. There are cases just like it for 30% less money that use magnets on the hinge instead of glue, and the material feels better. I feel as though Spigen rips people off and they must have massive profit margins if you see the cases that show up on amazon and aliexpress.
What case do you recommend then?

Just got my Z FOLD 4 a couple of days ago..(used to have orginal Z FOLD.....then Xiaomi Mi MIx FOLD..now this beast..it is awesome!)....I have the Samsung case with pen holder...but interested in this Spigen one you recommend..you say it allows wireless charging with the case on ? (the Samsung one does not.....)...and looks like it gives easier access to the S pen too...but does the S pen not block the fingerprint reader ? It is kinda damm expensive too for a case ...let's hope it comes down in price in Amazon prime sale next week !

Hey Elio,
Congrats on getting the Z Fold 4,
No issues with the finger print reader, I have average sized hands and thumb works all the time, there is enough room. Yes it is expensive, but well worth it, you wont feel ripped off as it is excellent quality, and there is no other design out there that has this unique set of design features. The case feels really good in the hand (not plastic feel... more of a smooth rubbery feel, so great grip) and it fits like a glove on the case. As for charging wirelessly, no problem... I even have a removable pop socket and an ESR phone boost kickstand, and still no problem charging after I remove the top of the pop socket (just a quick 1/2 twist when it is pushed in). Not only easier access to the pen, but better placement in my opinion, I would rather have a little wider than making it thicker... it already is thick because of the fold design... so why put a storage s-pen on the back... and putting it in the hinge protector like some designs makes the hinge protector a huge bump on the back when open.
I have very negative experience with the Spigen cover cases for Fold 4. The first one, the Tough Armor got broken after 16 days. The second one, the Slim Armor Pro got broken today after 4 months. Totally, I lost almost 150€ for these two cases ;-( I will request replacement. My conclusion is there is no way to make a good unbreakable cover case for Fold 4. For my previous non-foldable phones the Spigen cover cases where perfect.
