Question [S901W] Flashed incorrect ROM via Odin | stuck in download mode - Samsung Galaxy S22

Got a new S901W S22 (Canada TELUS). I was trying to flash non-carrier generic OEM ROM via Odin v3.14.1_3B Patched. I made a mistake and flashed S901U1 XAA instead of S901W XAC. The XAA version has bootloader version 2, while XAC still has 1. Now I cannot flash the correct ROM because we cannot downgrade the bootloader. So I am stuck in Download mode:

Few questions:
Is there ANY way I can downgrade the bootloader and flash the XAC ROM now? Or do I need to wait for XAC with v2 bootloader to release, which is going to be a few weeks I assume, given that it was released in US on May 5, 2022 and few other countries on May 8.
In case I want to wait for XAC with v2 bootloader, how do I turn off the device? There's only a reboot option no shut down.
Can the phone be charged in Download mode? I started with 100% battery, but ofcourse now it does not show battery % and I am unable to shut down the phone - worried if I'll drain the battery

UPDATE 1: Looks like the phone switched off on it's own after about 30mins of no activity when unplugged. Now waiting for XAC bootloader v2 ROM

Your only solution is to wait until S901W has bit 2 ROM. You cannot downgrade bootloader version.

Beware, as in some rare cases, Samsung does not increase the bit at all.
For example, my S20 Korean version (G981N) is still on bit 1 despite having 2 Android updates.

Damn, that's scary. I checked data for S20 and looks like US version (XAS) got bit 2 on Apr 29, 2021 and Canada (XAC) got it on Apr 30, 2021. That gives me hope but fingers crossed!
Not sure why they left Korea out but maybe because Exynos CPU has different releases?
Don't want to haggle with carrier and ask for replacement just yet. I'll wait for a week or two

I am at this point searching for some obvious plan.

S20 and Note 20 series in Korea have S865 though, and both are still on bit 1 with latest firmware
Not sure what Samsung is thinking

I didn't unlock bootloader. You can flash official firmwares without unlocking bootloader, and yes, you cannot unlock/root any SnapDragon Samsung devices, most of which are sold in US/Canada. Exynos models can be unlocked/root

[OFF TOPIC] I learnt that the hard way with my last phone (S10 US version) but I don't see much value in rooting anymore. Things were different 4-5 years ago, but now I am okay with a stock phone, just need a debloated non-carrier specific ROM.

New firmware just released for XAC with v2 bootloader. Downloading via samloader. Hopefully this fixes the phone!

Alright, we're back in business! Phone is working now.
However, I still see carrier crap installed and all my files intact (Im okay with full wipe). Is it because I used HOME_CSC instead of CSC? Should I just flash again using CSC this time?

At&t galaxy note 10+

Hi there.
I bought an unlocked American AT&T Note 10+ and brought it to Mexico. I have it with Telcel as my carrier. My question is, how can I update it to Android 10?
I've checked the software update through the settings menu and I'm still on the freaking August security patch and it says I'm up-to-date.
Thanks in advance, my friends.
I think there's an issue with the on the air update function for the Galaxy Note 10+. Mine is doing the same, it's stuck on July 2019 security patch and Android 9, and keeps saying it's up to date when I check for updates. And I think it's causing issues with apps, Disney+ says my device is incompatible, and now Netflix started saying the same and won't update through the store.
I'm stuck with AT&T software because I need wifi calling, but since you're using the phone abroad, you aren't. You can get a non-carrier firmware for your model (the model number is in Settings, About phone) here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/.
Get all the files you need ahead of time, and read the instructions thoroughly and understand them before you start, anything that happens to your device is on you. Backup all your data outside the phone, once you start there's no going back. You'll need a PC and a USB cable that reliably connects the phone to the computer, if you have one of those cables that disconnects with the slightest touch, get another one.
My friend had this issue with his att Galaxy S10 and we installed an update from firmware science and then it started updating normally.

I have an ATT Note 10 Plus too - I flashed N975U TMB firmware (it is exactly the same as ATT Essentially) I flashed firmware from Frija (for SM-N975U - with TMB entered in the CSC field) - flashed that - with my ATT Sim Card in the phone - and when the phone booted up - I had the ATT Logo on Boot - and WiFi Calling and Video Calling both work perfectly.
YOu don't need to wait for the update to come thru - you can flash the Firmware in the thread for N975U Firmware using ODIN and you will be fine.

Thanks. Do you know if the Software Update function works too? I skimmed the thread and saw something about OTA updates not working with some firmwares. I'll start reading the 27 pages in a bit, but thought about asking since your case is the same as mine.

My version is not listed in the drop down menu, and from the update sizes these don't look to be cumulative. Still, thanks for the suggestion. I'd love to be able to just flash an update without wiping my phone.
Previous posters are correct. At&t is horrible with OTA updates. My Note 8..9..and now 10 has never gotten an OTA I always have to flash the updates myself. And yes the firmware is the same and it will provision to your sim. I'm kinda OCD and prefer the hardline flashing to ota...lol[emoji106]

I think it's more than just AT&T being horrible with updates, if it was that then none of the phones would be getting one. It's almost like there's a lot of phones that came with defective software that doesn't pull updates, or Samsung or AT&T have so many software versions and they forgot to publish updates for some of those versions.
I haven't been flashing phones for a few years now, since I had a Galaxy S4, mainly because how time consuming it was to reconfigure the phone from scratch every time and my company requiring official status to get email. So I'm out of the loop, but I've never heard of some carrier phones getting updates and other not for the same model.
Well as of now my Note 9 still sits on November patch as well as many others I know that are on At&t

Mine is on July patch and it's never received an update since I got it, that's why I think there's something else going on besides normal ATT slowpokeness.

I thought that I read that even if you have a carrier unlocked ATT Branded Model phone, you will not get any OTA updates unless you put an active ATT SIM back into the phone.
I have a Samsung Unlocked Note 10+ and flashed the ATT firmware (ATT UserData file with probably the rest of the files being from T-Mo) from the time I've owned the phone since the launch month. I have never received even one OTA. When I log into my ATT online account, several places indicate unknown phone type. One dropdown menu does show that it's a Note 10+. ATT classifies me as a "Bring Your Own Phone" customer and a rep told me I'll never get an OTA!
Now, I bought my Husband a new Samsung Unlocked (XAA) model S10e last month. I immediately flashed the ATT UserData file and the July Security firmware. I used his old ATT SIM (SIM has been in the ATT system for 4 years). I went to Software update and received all ATT OTAs up to the December Security patch with Android 10. I just checked to update the software for the January Security patch but it says I'm up to date.
I'm not sure if I re-flash the ATT UserData file and firmware starting with Bootloader 2 (can't remember which month the security patch was for) if I would ever get the OTAs or not. Don't feel like risking a factory restore right now since it takes me forever to re-setup my phone (even with SmartSwitch).

It's more than just the sim card, as I use AT&T on an AT&T branded phone. I checked my account and it also shows it as Unknown Phone. It may be because I used my sim card to add an old AT&T dumb phone to my account so I can then request an unlock code. I'll try switching to another smartphone, see if my account picks it up so then I can switch back to the Note 10+. When I first got the Note 10+, I still used my S8 for some time, and every time I switched phone it appeared on the AT&T app or website.
Thanks for the idea. If it works, you saved me from flashing from scratch and spending several hours configuring the phone.
UPDATE:
I got the att site to recognize the phone by putting the sim in another smart phone and then putting it back in the Note 10+. But still the phone doesn't pull OTA updates.

I have a N975U running on Pie, and a N975U1 running on Android 10. Pie has some advantages over Android 10. 10's UI is a bit slicker with better dark mode options.
If you stay with Pie, install Karma Firewall and Package Disabler to help secure and optimize it.
11 and 12 are dogs with cpu cycling sucking scoped storage fully active. Think it over very carefully before updating to 11 and especially 12.
Android 10 is as high as I would go; the Note 10 will run very well on either 9 or 10.

You can read thru this thread and it explains word for word how to flash the U1 firmware along with the U CSC of ATE6 and you'll maintain ATT network settings and have June security update :good:

Stuck on September 2020 AT&T Security update on my S20 FE 5G.

According to this page on AT&T's website my security patch on my S20 FE 5G should be for December and for Android 11 but mine is at September. I got my phone in early November. This is a screenshot showing the September patch.
Whats going on?
EDIT: I don't know if its supposed to work this way, but when I go to Software Update and then Check for Update. There's no screen saying "checking for updates" or anything. It goes immediately to the "Current software is up to date" screen.
Uhh, no it isn't up to date.
I finally got fed up and did a full factory reset of the phone, also went to an AT&T store and got a new SIM card. Started completely from scratch. I go to check for updates, and I get "Your current software is up to date. No it isn't. I should have Android 11 by now. Does AT&T's firmware only let you check for updates once every 24 hours or something? I need these updates, they're security patches made for a reason.
How do I fix this?
I have the same problem and I don't know what to do, the phone does not update
For the US branded model you can download the firmware from Frija. Use SM-G781U for the model and USC as CSC (latest firmware available is G781USQU1CTLD). All the branded firmware are the same and the CSC will be loaded automatically based on your SIM card (I suppose ATT). You can flash the firmware using Odin (I have used v3.14.1_3B_PatcheD). Select the correct files for BL, AP, CP. For CSC use the HOME_CSC file if you want to keep you data. Leave USERDATA blank. After flashing the firmware, do a wipe cache partition from recovery mode and you will have Android 11.
Of course do it at your own risk. You can also follow this guide below:

Followed this to get to the last update for Android 10 for the S20 FE. I'm going to go to a uBreakiFix to see where they'd get it to as far as Android 11. The USC firmware for Android 11 that samfw has for doesn't match the firmware for ATT. The last 4 of the firmware name. Is it an issue if an ATT S20 FE would be on the USC CTLD instead of ATT CTL9? Or TMB CUAA instead of ATT CUA9?

I've used the CTLD for a couple of days with no issues (and no notification for further updates). Btw, I own an unbranded G781U1 and was using the ATT G781U branded firmware to get the Wi-Fi calling work. Now I'm back to unbranded firmware XAA because Wi-Fi calling is working on Android 11 unbranded.

How do you get into download mode? Have you tried the following:
Unplug the USB cable.
Switch off your smartphone.
Hold down Volume Down and Volume Up and connect the device with PC by using Type-C USB cable

CTL(D) was the first Android 11 update for the US S20 FE. CUA(A) is the second update. I find it curious that ATT makes the unlocked firmware available through the firmware repos but not the locked version.

This morning I flashed DUC1 for USC. I believe the issue is with the carrier sim. When I inserted my FirstNet the wifi calling wasn't available. I switched over to a Ting sim (T-Mobile MVNO), and wifi calling automatically appeared. I'm not sure if I need an orange ATT sim in order to activate wifi calling with XAA or USC firmware. Looks like FirstNet sim will only activate wifi calling with ATT firmware.
just a little info about our firmware...... All carrier variant sm-781U AP BL CP CSC and HOME are identical..... the difference is the USER DATA file which has all the carrier bloat and carrier specific stuff so you can use any of the
SPR
United States
TMB
United States
TMK
United States
USC
United States
XAS
obviously if you have a carrier locked sim carrier locked options wont work.... now if you have unlocked phone and flash the SM-781U1 XAA which you can also flash to a locked phone because the files are exactly the same... no warranty trip knox or whatever..... on the unlocked firmware the actual sim card u are using triggers the carrier provising and loads splash screen and carrier crap.....so if u have a different sim card and want att wifi flash unlocked firmware sm-781U1 XAA all four files.... then go back and flash ONLY the USERDATA from the sm-781U....
will not carrier unlock or unlock bootloader and if you updated to oneUI 3.1 no bootloader unlock available even with the paid method... I did it today on April 1 security patch links above... now my next adventure is running root from Termux with locked bootloader un rooted......
ALSO USC is AT&T
and i also successfully bypassed FRP lock with one of the new methods that has 1000 different ways and varients.... if anyone needs to know about the easiest FRP procedure PM me please

Remove Star Wars bootloader

Hello,
I just bought a galaxy note 10+ N975F, but the bootloader is that of starwars on and off, and I don't like it at all. Is it possible to simply remove it permanently? (via Odin or other solution)
I have already tried several times to flash the last official XEF update (France) on it, but nothing can be done, it still remains.
Thanks for your help

Probably you need to unlock bootloader in order to change it (a file inside the BL partition must be edited) unless a firmware for other region comes with a different boot-splash if someone else can confirm that.
Thank you. Normally the XEF ROM stock does not have a starwars boot loader. I am currently stuck on the NEE firmware, even by flashing the XEF 5 times in a row it remains on: NEE/NEE/NEE/NEE. So if I understood correctly if I root my phone and try to flash the XEF again, will it be good? Thanks

Well, in case you are sure that flashing other different firmware it will solve the issue, you don't need to root it or unlock it, official firmware can be flashed normally, you have to choose from inside the CSC different from the CSC_HOME, this will wipe some preferences and will be a fresh start.
It could be also that the XEF firmware contains the same boot splash animation, probably I can check it if you can upload in some place the file param.bin.lz4 that is inside the BL partition file that you'll find from inside your firmware.
Just thinking, is not from the carrier?

Question Changing CSC code on a phone without multi CSC codes

I have a Z Fold 3 which is stuck on EUX CSC code. I did some digging and the phone is not a multi CSC device meaning that you can't really change the CSC code using SAMKEY as the only available code on the phone is EUX.
My issue is that although Google Pay works with my UK bank cards, there's no way to get Samsung Pay to work even if you sideload the app since it always checks for the CSC code the phone is set to.
Ideally I'd like to install BTE or BTU.
I understand that methods like turning off WiFi and switching on data and rebooting the phone with a UK sim won't work as the phone is a single CSC device. I've tried this already. I also read another thread where someone tried to change the CSC code in SAMKEY but weren't successful since their phone was also not a multi CSC one.
What is the solution here?
Do I need to flash a UK firmware using Odin and does anyone know if this will work. And also what does this mean in terms of Over the Air updates. Will they continue to work?
Any ideas? Thanks

I read on a different Samsung Phone you would have to flash the USERDATA file to change it, but I haven't tried because I don't know if it'll wipe my phone.

From my current understanding go to samfw.com and download the
firmware you require
then you download https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/patched-odin-3-13-1.3762572/
get the 3.14.1 3b version
after you put your phone in download mode by turning the phone off, plugging the USB in, and holding the power button + volume up and volume down if this is confusing just search up "fold 3d download mode"
then you open Odin up and place the files into the appropriate part, so AP with AP, BP with BP, and you'll see two CSC types one is CSC and the other is CSC_Home.
CSC_Home won't wipe your phone, but CSC will factory reset your phone and the last one is USERDATA which I read will fix that issue you're having, but I haven't tried it.
Other than that please Youtube and do your research before you attempt it. It's relatively easy to use, but if you do the wrong thing you can mess up your phone.

I had the Same issue with mine, regards just having o2u firmware and Samkey couldn't change csc. I then flashed eux (oxm) multi CSC firmware and then tried again to change my CSC to eux and this time it worked. I went front o2u/02u/02u/02u/02u to eux/-/eux/02u which is what I was after and Samsung pay and everything else now works as it should. Non of the required a factory reset either

Do you continue to receive OTA updates after that?
That's the only thing I'm waiting to see next, I'm waiting on the june update to see if the otas work as I'm currently on the may update. OTA worked okay on my s22 ultra after the same process so not sure why it wouldn't ?

I used frija to download the correct firmware. Download it off xda, put in your phone model number and eux as the required CSC, and it will download the multi oxm firmware. Just wait for it to finish and then unzip the file.

I assume that flashing it wipes your phone?
No, just flash using home CSC and nothing gets wiped. I did the whole process without wiping.
The only thing I did before using Samkey was to remove my SIM cards and phone security before the process( face unlock, fingerprints, and pin), to make sure there was no hickups

Hello, select all 4 as above and make sure home CSC is set as the CSC file and it won't get wiped

No one said you can change csc by just flashing firmware. If your firmware only has once CSC, when you try and change it with Samkey it won't. Hence you need to flash multi CSC firmware, oxm, so you have all the CSC's on there, so when you try and change it with Samkey, it should work this time
