Question Automatic mobile data and wifi being turned off after a period of interval of device being inactive - Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE

Hi, every time I leave my device idle for approximately 30 or more minutes (couldn't determine an exact data on the timing) from the purchase date, my phone automatically turns off its wifi and mobile data! And as soon as you turn on its screen via unlocking or just the lock screen via the button, it starts the mobile data instantly and also the wifi (and bluetooth) is enabled and it starts searching for signals. Now I have been trying to search for this problem for a long time and the customer service too via email dosent know what to do and want me to send the device to their factory for further inspection, so I thought to ask here before doing the same. The problem it causes is that I'm a foreign student and need access to the internet 24hrs so as to recieve calls from my friends and family and hence it creates problems doing so since the network is disabled!
Could you maybe help me a bit please?

Goto settings - battery
Top right corner hit the Hexagon for more settings
First setting make sure is unchecked
Which is turn off data when phone is locked. Choose never.

Sorry and thank you but it's already on "NEVER"

OK try this goto the same settings page
Look in app battery saver section click the three dots in the top right hand corner and select show system apps and then look for network or Wi-Fi and make sure that it is not blocked from background activity make sure that it has no restrictions.

If that doesn't work maybe try this
"to fix the Wi-Fi you can enable personal mobile hotspot and set it up if it's not already setup with a good strong WIFI password. Once you enable the personal hotspot you will see the Wi-Fi magically start working and now you can disable the hotspot, Wi-Fi stays connected."

Sorry but there's no such option in the list regarding anything related to hardware. It just shows the normal system apps like feedback, scanner, etc...

I have already set-up wifi hotspot and things but the thing is when the device is not being used for a while then it disconnects all network connections i.e. wifi, mobile data and also the bluetooth Until unless the screen is turned on again!

OK download from Play Store "hidden settings for miui" by yunus
Open manage applications go to the bottom of the screen and select show system apps.
Then look for com.miui.Wi-fi entries there are a few click on each entry select battery make sure that none of them are restricted.
also look in the list for anything else you think might be relevant and check if that is restricted or not and un restrict the battery.
if that doesn't do it then you will need to do a factory reset

Make sure that your phone is not in battery saving mode.
Make sure that it is not your source of Wi-Fi that is the problem I'm not sure how that could be the case but you never know.
if it is not your only option is to to factory reset your phone.

1.My phone's never in battery saving mode
2.the wifi isn't the problem, all other devices stay connected as normal just this one dosent.
3. I have done the factory reset near about 5 times till date.
4. The problem is not only with wifi. It's with all connectivity options, the wifi, the mobile data and also the bluetooth

Vote to get Wifi staying live on device sleep

Windows Phone 7 and also mango will drop wifi on device sleep/screen lock, making receiving emails and other notification impossible unless you have data.
There are people who dont like to use their data services at home, and would love to have an option to keep wifi alive at screen lock, so please vote for this feature:
Vote here for Microsoft to add this feature
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251336
it's like reading my thread again
you are not alone having this issue, its not smart thinking by MS. We need to voice our issues on their site.
I completely agree. It's borderline retarded if MS expects everyone to have a data plan.
Most people do have a data plan, especially here in the US. The issue is the battery, a lot of people will complain if it stays on consistently and kills the battery. But, I do agree there needs to be an option, which is off by default, to enable this. I also think they need to make it stay on while it's actively downloading something, whether it be an app or a website, not start on WiFi and then dip to 3G when the screen is off.
I don't think that's completely true ...
I have a feeling that the WiFi isn't off 100% of the time when the screen is locked, because there are sometimes that I unlock the screen (after a long time from locking it) and I find out that it's already connected to WiFi !
So I'm guessing that it enables WiFi during sleep at certain intervals to synchronize with the cloud (e-mail, notifications, ... etc), if that's the case, then it's not a stupid decision after all

I have to agree here. The reason for the auto-off is for battery saving. I don't notice much difference in battery life myself with WiFi on or off because my screen is almost always off unless I get some sort of a notification or need to look something up. I also agree, that it would be nice to add an option that is defaulted to the current set-up, but when turned on, makes WiFi stay on permanently. Although, I wouldn't expect much battery life with that turned on.
This is great idea, but I would like to ask every1 to vote on everything you think that should be on WP7 (always use 3 votes). It just takes 5mins and helps a lot.

I'm sure everyone has a data plan. I'm also sure none of those people are stupid enough to waste it when there's a perfectly good and faster WiFi connection at home. Would you rather use your WiFi @ home connection or a data plan when you're at home?
wifi will be kept alive if plugged in a wall socket, this is because if you have setup wireless sync then phone will syc with zune wirelessly when connected to wall socket.
However, the reason for this vote is to voice our opinion for choice...a choice in shape of a simple toggle under settings where we users like us who'd like to use wifi than data at home to keep wifi alive at all times under screen lock....
I've mentioned this before that 3G chip use far more battery power than wifi, so keeping wifi alive at home shouldnt be a BIG hit on battery.
MS can by default have the same setup as is....but users should have an option to toggle this on/off.
iPhone has shown that simple = better. Too many options and choices just confuses the user.
I think the best solution is not an option in the settings to keep it turned on, but to enable it when it's needed, eg,
- Keep it on constantly for push email/applications with push support
- Enable it every 30 minutes (or whenever) for tile updates, email downloading
- Wait until current downloads are finished before turning off WiFi!

I understand the reasoning of what you guys say but now we have another toggle to switch lets not vote WP into being Android with toggles all over the damn place. If you want continuous WiFi its simple plug your phone in then it will stay on even if locked that is a much better solution so when you unplug or are ready to go out the door you know that you have a full battery when you leave.

Why would I want to use WiFi when my phone is asleep? It's not like I'm downloading gigs of data for the tiles. The phone synchronizes only Mail, Push Services, Notifications and a few more things. All in all just a few kb. I don't want my phone to use the battery intensive WiFi connection for these tiny downloads.

Why not? Some people just like it that way, or having a choice is a bad thing on WP 7? They can leave it off by default, and for people that can think with their brain, thay can put something like this, so people can CHOOSE what they want.

Battery XL for Nexus (Extending your battery)

If you haven't gone out to get an extended battery, try this and give feedback. I have tried it and it does great wonders for the stock battery for now. You can locate this in the market.

Seems counterproductive to have a program running that extends your battery.
JuiceDefender has been doing this for ages. I'll try it out to see how it compares, but I doubt it could improve on it at all. Doesn't look like there are any unique features.
IM trying this on my EVO 4G and I am not sure if it is really SYNCING my account at all with this program... I have left auto-sync turned on and all this program is doing is turning off data when screen is off and back on every 2 hours and also turns it on when I unlock the screen.
However, I dont know how this will sync my accounts.. if I data is off and a scheduled sync comes, will the data come back on?
so far I dont think it does.. I was testing GREEN POWER which had a setting to sync every so many minutes.. but it only went up to every 30 minutes which killed my battery syncing all accounts every 30 minutes..
I want to be able to use one of these battery saver programs but still be able to SYNC account to each accounts time schedule for EMAIL, facebook, weather, etc
some are every 2 hours.. some ever 6, every 8 etc
Thanks...
Hello everyone. My name is Michael and I'm the Product Manager for BatteryXL.
I'm very pleased and pleasantly surprised, to be honest, that someone made a thread about my app on such an awesome site, XDA.
First off, this app is in Beta. It's not perfect nor complete by any means and it will continue to be developed and polished for the foreseeable future.
About BatteryXL's Smart Schedules:
In the Smart Settings menu there is a field called "Smart Schedule"
Here you can select WiFi, Data, and(or) (Auto)Sync.
Then you select a Frequency to connect (15m, 30m, 45m, 1h, 2,h, 5h) and Duration of connection (30s, 1m, etc).
To answer the gentleman's question about Sync:
If Sync is selected, then WiFi or Data (or both) must also be selected. Therefore, whenever a Smart Schedule event occurs including Sync then an internet connection will be initiated (if available).
Hope this clears things up. AutoSync optimization is one of my goals for the future. I want this app to be able to save battery without any unreasonable lag time between emails, social network updates.
Again, please feel free to address any further concerns or questions.

Still confused. If your program has turned data off but then one of my accounts is trying to sync based on its sync schedule in accounts and sync (in Android system settings), will data be turned back on to sync and then off again? I have the setting in your program to turn on data for 5 minutes every 2
Hours along with sync which i also leave that setting on for screen on and off. Let me know.

Sorry to say this, but this app looks like a Juice Defender rip off: it has exactly the same options (some are still missing) and it has a different interface.
Does it actually bring anything different from Juice Defender?

Yeah, it brings a GPS lock that doesn't turn off! Click off GPS in the app, exit and it comes right back up until I turned off GPS with the power widget. Having to bother with turning GPS on and off when I wasn't using any other app that needed it made it an instant uninstall. Honestly, the app seemed shady to me, and don't see a reason to use it over JuiceDefender if you are having battery issues.

Hi cvmass,
The only GPS controls BatteryXL features are a manual on/off (which shares the same functionality as the Power Control widget) and automatic enable/disable based on various events like 'screen unlock'.
If your GPS is turning on or off unexpectedly then that is obviously a bug related to your hardware and not part of the intended user experience. If you want to send me your batteryxl.txt (log) I could work on fixing the problem.
We're not trying to rip-off JD, it's a matter of us trying to create the best app we can to help everyone get more out of their Android devices. Saying we're shady is like saying Android copied iPhone because both has touchscreens, apps, sync, phone, etc... This is a matter of convergent design were in order to save battery power, both apps are regulating your connections based on a series conditions and triggers. I'll be frank, we've used JD here in the lab, frankly we felt like we can do better and that's why we made this app.

Currently, the smart (sync) schedule only operates while the screen is off. but, this will change as of v1.2.4.
According to your settings mentioned above, BatteryXL will enable autosync every 2 hours for an interval of 5 mins. During this 5 mins, all your apps that have synced information are polled for updates.
The problem with the smart schedule now is with push services that assume you are constantly connected to the web. so sometimes, syncs get missed. we are working on it.
Let me know if you have more questions.
I've used and uninstalled BatteryXL twice now. It currently offers a night mode which juicedefender doesn't (for free anyway). First time I got rid of it due to instability (most likely culprit) the second time is because of the data finesse.
I only want to use cellular data when wifi is not available, but when you enable mobile data BXL first of all uses cellular data then wifi is turned on using that. If you turn off mobile data it actually switches off all mobile data so wifi won't work either for WAN transfers. I need option to keep cellular data disabled but leave mobile data on.
Thank you so much for bringing that to our attention - we'll add that to the features list to be added soon. So BatteryXL will basically disable cellular when wifi connects successfully and enable it when wifi is off or can't find a network.
It might be even better to make the mobile data button actually mean cellular data and not mobile data as this is what I thought it meant so was confused when it was turning off ability for wifi to fetch data. You could make mobile data an optional component elsewhere as I think this is a rarer item.
Or add an additional icon for cell data to the common row you have in every state paragraph. This makes the control more granular and ensures no cell data will ever be used even without wifi (which is what I would want for many scenarios anyway). Re-reading my post I can see how I misstated that! Certainly both scenarios could be provided for. Personally it depends when I need data, I can change my calling plan accordingly from month to month.
EDIT: Mobile data only seems to affect cellular data (as you'd expect) but why when it is disabled in BXL does wifi go 'grey' and not get any data, odd. This is why I thought it throttled any data and the toddle for cell was separate.
Does this app still make the GPS constantly look for a signal? I liked the UI a bit better than JD, but it just didn't work when I tried it.

That sounds like GPS partially enabled, like the GPS is on but A-GPS isn't. When that happens to me apps like navigation constantly moan about finding location before they can function.

BXL Uninstall question
I installed it on my I9000 but it was to complicated for me and could not get it to work along with my Email client so I uninstalled it, rebooted my phone and got something I have never seen before when my phone was booted, a message from Superuser stating that System is asking for superuser permission.
Is that natural or is it something that BXL left that caused this?
I'm using Doc's Master ICS V5 ROM.
Thanks
Ophir
I'm not too sure about this app. Been trying it for a day and can see somewhat of a difference, but nothing drastic..
One thing I do like about BatteryXL over JD or almost all the other similar apps is that it's not only free and not crippleware, but there are no ads. I hope it stays that way!
I have had some issues with the app locking up, but acceptable considering it's in beta - hopefully still under active development and improving.
i just tried this app and uninstalled it after it started to make phone calls all by itself to *22899. i would end the call and then it would call it right back. seems like a good app, and could work but that turned me off of it. not sure about the whole mobile data off option though.

[Q] Stock JB 4.1.2 OTA Update - Data Roaming Guard Nagging - Help?

I've kept my phone stock from point of purchase. Updated to ZV9 when it came out OTA and it did nothing but break ChompSMS's ability to send MMS which pissed me the hell off (can still do it from stock messaging app thank GOD). Hoped it would be fixed by the time Jellybean came around.
Then, the ZVB update "came out" (lies!) on the 7th and weeks passed and I never got the OTA, so I was kind of ticked off. Then the other day I decided before I updated I should try a factory reset to freshen things up and see if it fixed my MMS issue as well. Freshened things. Didn't fix MMS issue. Also, out of no-where - ZVB update prompt. Click that ****. Bam - Jellybean.
So, My MMS issue is still around, but now there's new stuff to annoy me! Yay!
I work in a building that's made of thick concrete and steel, so my phone switches to roaming quite often. Today (My first day back at work with JB) I notice the Data Guard prompt constantly coming on and telling me that the world might end and I might be upcharged for roaming. I check the *Don't show this again* box and click Roam. And it goes away. Turn off screen. Turn on screen. It's back. Same charade, check *shut the hell up* box and it goes away. Comes back next time I unlock the phone. Bottom line, this prompt isn't going away and staying away despite my checking the box. I've tried the settings and found something interesting. Turns out the Data Guard settings are greyed out! Joy! How annoying...

So, yeah. The nagging prompt literally doesn't go away. And this gets to happen to me everyday at work. Happiness.
That, and this bold font across the system UI is ugly as hell. Please let me not be the only one who feels this way. Tell me this can be changed (even if it means rooting).
Has anyone had this same bug/issue/nag? Can anyone suggest a solution? Feedback is much appreciated. I would try calling Sprint, but wouldn't want to confuse the novices on the other end of the line lol
I've seen that screen more than once, though not as frequently as you. My house gets terrible reception, so when I lose my Airrave signal and network signal, it pops up occasionally. Bugs the hell out of me. The setting just won't stick, even when it's set in system settings too.
You're not alone, I'm not a fan of the bold system font either.
Roaming and " avoid poor WiFi connections" don't seem to stick for some reason. The roaming nag has been with us since day 1.

Yeah, now that you mention it, the avoid weak wifi connections setting switched back on for me also. Very annoying. I was so confused why I suddenly couldn't connect to my wifi from my bedroom. Glad I thought to check.
Same here, noticed this a couple days ago.
This is literally bullcrap - I really hope there's another OTA soon to fix the bugs and bring back all the stuff they excluded. I'm so close to just reverting back to ZV9...
I ran into this tonight
Says I am roaming and to change my settings to allow data roaming. Yet, I get no data.
same problem here too, very VERY annoying...glad to know it's not just me

I've also had something like this, even before the Jellybean update - Tells you to turn on roaming by going to settings, when it's already on.
I think I've found the solution - I was going through my settings and went to "Mobile Data" and hit the menu button. Turns out there's a list of settings that's hidden here under the menu button. Why they did this, I do not know. But the tick box for Data Roaming is there, unticked. So I ticked it. I'm not in a place where I can test whether the Roam Gaurd pops up, but the box wasn't checked before, so hopefully the Roam Guard will STFU.
Nice find, I have checked the box. Lets see if the issue gets better.

I know I'm bringing a thread back from the dead. But anybody have success with this issue in the stock ROM? After selecting the "Data Roaming" option, I will randomly see that it becomes unchecked and I still get asked to roam. Even with the roam guard appropriately checked. I've tried going through the build.prop as well, with no luck.

[Q] [LTE] turning off the Nexus 7 2013 Radio?

Hi everyone
I recently got a Nexus 7 2013 LTE under the tree to repleace my iPad mini
On my iPad mini there was a option to turn off the radio all together and make it say "iPad" on the top left and not worry if there was a Sim or not as I used the LTE not as often unless I traveled
But on my nexus 7 I tried to do something similar but I could only turn off the data connection but not the radio, I know there's airplane mode but I still Want to use the GPS in the tablet
So, how do I turn off my nexus 7 radio without shutting off the GPS?
Any suggestions? as I have looked through the forums and there's nothing helpful
If this feature can be added by root or flashing a rom I am ready to do that
If there's nothing I can do where can I tell Google about it to do it

If you root, you can use Tasker (Secure Settings).
Sent from my Nexus 7
Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kei5rio.secretcode&hl=en
Open app and go to "phone information"
scroll down, tap turn off radio
GPS wi-fi and etc. still function

Which option would I select to do so? Mobile data? As I don't see Radio or anything like that.
EDIT: Doing mobile data just turns off the data, not the radio itself. I would just use dpsi's program, but it turns back on after boot.

Not a great method, but turn on Airplane Mode and then head over to Settings and turn Wi-Fi back on. Weird little thing, but it works for my unused smartphones (and on iOS devices as well, if I'm remembering correctly).

Question MMS not working after January 2022 Security Update

I just updated the P6P with the January update (OTA manually requested in System Update).
After the update, MMS is not working in the Google messages app.
I am on T-Mobile in US and phone purchased unlocked from Google Store
MMS settings haven't changed in the app.
SMS works
Unsure if this matters, but a couple MMS came in right at the time the phone was starting up after the update / when the notification of "finishing update" or something to that effect was showing.
Has anyone else experienced issues with Google Messages MMS with January or December update?
Thoughts on how to resolve this?
If a solution is posted elsewhere, let me know and I will ask the Mod to remove this post.
I'm on a stock P6P US Tmo with Jan. update. MMS is working fine for me, including airplane mode using wifi.

Jokes aside, best try to reset your network/messaging/phone services/apps. That might help you.
MMS is working again but it required factory resetting the phone. Resetting WIFI / mobile only didn't help. Nor did clearing storage in carrier services (if that matters).
On a positive note, signal seems a bit better with this update. I cleanly move from LTE to 5G to 5G UC walking down the hall in my flat. (e.g. my Bermuda Triangle of signals). I love the Net Monster app. I never knew where the cell points are located near me. I am between 2 LTE points which explains the bouncing back and forth. Interesting to see the 5G UC point which is much farther away than I thought.
I am glad that UC is in large letters now vs. the microscopic letters before the update.
I noticed android messages somehow had notification sounds set to nothing, which was odd as I never touched it, but wondered why my phone was vibrating and only playing a sent message tone. I cleared app data and it's back to default.
Try setting up your phones carrier settings manually and see if it helps, or try resetting the value to default.
Go to settings > network > SIMs > APNs (at the bottom) > three dots in the top right > reset to default.
What carrier do you have?
@RetroTech07 thank you! I will keep this in mind in the future.
I have had disappearing notification sounds for years with Android. Not this time though because I completely reset the phone.
Try this....1. turn wifi off. 2. Force stop messages. 3. Clear cache. 4. Open messages. 5. Check the status of "chat features", if it takes longer than a couple minutes to be "connected"...repeat steps 2 &3.

That doesn't really impact MMS though, it's just setting up to use advanced features like wifi and chatting through your PC if you wanted.
No not really. If you're setup to use RCS and it's not connected you will not get any MMS's. Hope you get it figured out.
That's not true. I don't use that feature and get MMS just fine.
Thanks for the options! MMS is working after the factory reset but if it stops again, I will give these a try.

I hate the large letters. Looks so stupid.
If I had better vision, the size might be too much. Poor vision sucks so I will take what I can get!
Sidebar: I hate menus at restaurants where the font is a 6 + poor lighting. I just order the special or a burger or salad. LOL.
Seriously, I take a picture of the menu and zoom in.
