Question eSIM AT&T was working ... not anymore... help? - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3

Not sure how many people out there got eSIM working with AT&T on their Fold 3. But 2 or so weeks ago I went into AT&T and got them to get eSIM working on my Fold 3. It's been working great till recently. I think it might have been with adding a 2nd line (Tello).
SIM1 = Tello
eSIM = AT&T
right now Tello works great. AT&T... I can get Text and data but I can't make any phone calls or receive any phone calls. Anyone else using the DUAL setup?? I went in to get a new eSIM and same thing. Can't make or receive call but I can text and receive text and get data.
I have removed the Tello Sim card for good measure. Rebooting a good dozen times and no matter what I can't get AT&T to dial out or get calls.
Any ideas??

Honestly sounds like the esim from att wasn't provisioned correctly. I'd try to get them to remove it from their system and readd it

i was warned about this scenario by an ATT Manager; he said that the physical sim had to be an ATT sim. i have an unlocked ATT Z Fold 3, however, i haven't tried using another carrier's sim/esim. I also have a network unlocked, ATT S22U with a T-Mobile eSim and an ATT physical sim. phone calls and text msgs work fine, as long as i use Samsung Messages (no the Google version). if i use Google's version of messages, group chats don't always work.

I have an unlocked fold 3 and use a Google Fi physical sim, and had a GSMA (AT&T) eSIM with Red Pocket. Both worked perfectly fine with no problems. Phone calls, texts and data were flawless on both networks.
Google Messages does have an issue it with dual sim. For example while connected to the mobile network if your preferred sim is set to the physical sim, but you try to send an mms with the number associated with the eSIM you will have to switch to the eSIM to send it. Chat messages are effected the same way. Text messages don't seem to be impacted that I have encountered. Receiving messages seems to be effected in the same manner. Google Messages works normally when connected to WiFi and using RCS Chat
Since we can only have one data connection active on one sim at the same time, Google Messages gets weird about it. The issue is not present with Samsung Messages or Textra. Until Google updates the Messages app to fix the issue you will have to either change the preferred sim back and forth, use RCS on WiFi only, use Samsung Messages or use another 3rd party messaging app that has dual sim properly working.
Also be aware changing the preferred sim will also make it the default for messaging and phone calls. For some reason we lack the setting to specify which sim for calling and messaging. So if your eSIM is the primary number you use and switch to the physical sim, all your calls/messages will come from the physical sim. Using the shortcuts i mention below won't fully resolve this either. You can use an app like multi sim selector to help with the calling, but the messages you will have to be aware of what number your messaging from (sim 1 or sim 2) or the above suggestions.
@OP - Might be worth getting a hold of AT&T and asking them to make sure the eSIM is provisioned correctly on your (and AT&T) end. If it was working and then not it sounds like an AT&T issue.
I'm not sure if this applies here, but I've read a few comments on the AT&T forums AT&T prepaid doesn't play well with eSIM. I can't verify that to be true or not since I don't have the prepaid service through AT&T.
Meanwhile make sure you have set the eSIM up properly in the sim card manager. At first my eSIM did not have the APN selected as active, I had to manaually mark it as such... Secondly does the call/text issue occur when the eSIM is set as the primary sim? If so go through and double check the sim card manager settings so you have DSDS enabled.
You might want to get an app like Quick Shortcut Maker and look for "Mobile Network".. There are a few sim manager settings that might help resolve some issues your having. I attached an image to help find the shortcuts.

Dualsim: Block incoming calls on one simcard

I was wondering if there is a possibility if there are apps with a function that blocks calls based on receiving simcard.
For my specific situation I have 2 simcards in my Oneplus 3. Sim1 is without data. Sim2 is for with 4G data.
Now during my holiday I would like to make use of calling via Sim1 without data, but only use the data from Sim2, without the possibility of being called on the Sim2.
I was wondering if you guys ideas to make this happen, thanks in advance!
You can bar incoming calls on any specific sim in the call settings.
Go to dialer. Tap. The 3 dots options menu on the top right. Go to settings > calling accounts > click on the sim on which you wish to bar incoming calls. Choose call barring and then from off put it on all.
That should work. But this might be network dependent. I mean this sends a request to your service provider. And it happens at their end. If your service provider allows this. It should work fine.

T-mobile?

Anyone on T-Mobile with the 5z? I have sketchy incoming voice and sms services with excellent signal. Missed calls and sms that just doesn't show up. I've tried auto config in carrier settings and manually selected T-Mobile US LTE for the apn. No difference.
I have this phone also on tmobile here in the US, no issues what so ever.

I have used it on T-Mobile without issues for 4 month. Before that I was on Metro PCS which is T-Mobile light and also a stint in Europe using T-mobile networks there - all with no problems.
I suspect GV is the culprit since zen ui doesn't allow configuring voice mail from anything other than "carrier".
I wonder if that changes in 9.0
Thanks for the replies.
I have the same.issue sometimes I get missed calls and texts it's not often maybe once or twice a week. I was going to try getting a new sim card to see if that helps

This issue continues...anyone using Google Voice successfully on this platform with T-Mobile? I just use GV for voicemail and some occasional sms on my GV number. Kinda sucks as I've missed some important calls and texts.

Verizon visual voicemail?

Anyone got VVM working?
Can't get it to work on my 7T. Not sure if it requires root or a special dialer?

Ok, interesting. Its not working on Verizon, does not show the transcript (translated messages), only the option to play or delete voice excerpts
I thought the apps ONLY work with the said carrier. In other words how can you use a Verizon voicemail app on a different network or even the T-Mobile app.

Yes, I think that is the case. I have always use Verizon visual voicemail through the dialer on the phone. however I don't think that there is a specific app for Verizon visual voicemail aside from that. I hope you miss someone else can like me just as of right now I don't know how to get my Verizon visual voicemail

So I bought the T-Mobile 7t model. I download the T-Mobile vvm app, activate it, switch to phone app click settings, calls, voicemail. Make sure vvm shows up. I uninstall the T-Mobile vvm ap, go to the phone app and go to settings, calls, voicemail again. Vvm is there and I can switch it on. If you don't have the Verizon vvm app try and download it from the playstore

ah ok. There is no verizon VVM app- thats probably the issue
Has anybody had any luck getting visual voicemail to work with simcard 2? I have VVM working for sim 1 (Verizon), it worked automatically so I can't help with it not working for the OP. I have AT&T for sim 2 and downloaded the AT&T visual voicemail app but I can't get it to work.

Ah ok, very interesting. Never would have thought there would be a difference between sim slots?
When you say VVM is working- you mean the messages are actually being transcribed? If so thats awesome

No. Looking at posts for previous devices, it seems the modded google pixel dialer app might be needed. Maybe I'll have to wait for root to become a little more stable

Yes it is being transcribed. But only for sim 1. I don't think sim 2 supports it.

OK so I've been troubleshooting this for a few days in great detail. I can confirm that I have the provisioning right on VZW's side and both SIMs are working fine. To be clear, this problem is actually comprised of 2 separate issues that need to be resolved on the 7T via VZW:
1) Visual Voicemails for one of two lines do not download/open when two SIMs are active (with both Basic and Premium VVM provisioning). The only SIM that successfully downloads voicemails is the line that is designated as the Default SIM for Mobile Data. Let's say that SIM1 is being used for Mobile Data. The issue seems to be that VZW doesn't allow for SIM2 to download the VVM data via SIM1. You can test this by disabling SIM1, clearing the Phone app storage, rebooting, and allowing SIM2 to reactivate VVM. You'll see that all the voicemails come through just fine. When you activate a second SIM and a caller leaves a new voicemail, you will briefly see a VVM entry pop-up... then when you click Play, it shows an error and nothing is heard. So, again, my guess is that VZW isn't allowing VVM data for one SIM to download via another (likely a legacy security framework). This needs to be fixed by VZW (or OnePlus/Google would need make a second Mobile Data source available via the OS that apps could switch on/off as needed - note, only one can be active at a time with DSDS).
2) Regardless of SIM1 and SIM2 data issues, "Premium" VVM is only partially working on the current build of the 7T Phone app. Assuming SIM1 is active and designated for Mobile Data AND Premium VVM is correctly provisioned on VZW's side, when a caller leaves a new voicemail the audio is transcribed to text and delivered correctly to the phone. The text appears in the notification banner as previously stated in this thread. However, when you go into the Phone app and click on the new VM entry, all you see is the audio play/stop widget. None of the transcribed text is displayed. So, fair to say, this is an app issue which needs to be fixed by OnePlus.
FYI, I've tried every possible modified/patched build of the Google Phone (Go) app... and none of them worked with VVM. I'm out of ideas for a native dialer that supports Premium VVM. If *anyone* has two VM lines working on VZW, please share...

A way has been found.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/themes/list-magisk-modules-t3995515/page6
Root solution doesn't count. Second SIM is for work... and I have Android Enterprise active, which won't authenticate on rooted phones. Still looking for a non-root solution...
The T-mobile VM app has always been hit or miss on my unbranded 3T. Switched to Google Voice just for the voicemail. Now that I have two lines forwarding unanswered calls to two Google accounts on my phone. it's one app instead of two and the translation is decent enough. Never had Verizon so maybe it has some features I'm missing out on.

Can only receive text messages on CDMA

I am having issues with text messaging, and only text messaging at this time.
- I CANNOT receive text messages when my mobile network is on "AUTOMATIC" or "LTE/CDMA"
- I CAN receive text messages when I am in "CDMA ONLY"
- I CAN seem to send text messages on any network setting.
- Data seems to be working normal.
- I am unsure of incoming and outgoing calls, but seems to be normal.
Things I have done to combat the situation.
- Many "NETWORK RESETS"
- Had Sprint/T-Mobile do "NETWORK RESETS" on their end.
- Replaced SIM card and programmed it as needed with Sprint Tech Support and T-Mobile support.
- Booted and ran several days in "SAFE MODE" to eliminate any app issues.
- I have tried different texting applications
- I have taken my phone to an authorized Samsung dealer, UBreakIFix, and they went through the phone and say that the phone is in perfect condition and everything is working as it should.
I have done everything short of doing a factory reset.
Original purchase date is August of 2019.
Problems like these sometimes can be hard to pin down.
Could be needing a reprovision on your account. Bands not being selected. Blacklisted imei in some shape or form. The device in say like nam programming may be set to read CDMA based instead of gsm based or sim. My s8 had this issue when I went from CDMA to gsm.
Could be incorrect apn settings.
But it seems more like a carrier issue to me as everything else seems to be going ok for you. I would reach out to my carrier and aim for a account and device sim reprovision. Also doesn't Verizon still use that *228 or whatever to do over the air programming and roaming update. Maybe try that too

Try the LTE/GSM/UMTS setting and see what happens. I have a feeling that more people like you are going to be having problems because of the Sprint/T-Mobile merge. If possible, you should take it to a Sprint/T-Mobile store and see what they can do. They may tell you to do a factory reset. Because Sprint was CDMA/LTE and T-Mobile was GSM/LTE you may need to factory reset to connect to T-Mobile's networks as Sprint's gets shuttered.

SIM: Default for calls grayed out

Hello,
I recently moved from Turkey to US and replaced my SIM. When people call me, the calls do not register at all until I receive indication that they have left a voice message. When looking at my settings, the SIM cards & mobile networks setting shows the SIM card, however, the Default for calls area is gray and is set to the third setting, which is a circle with a line through it (not SIM 1 or 2). I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of and cannot change that setting, which I suspect is the issue for not seeing my calls. Any thoughts out there on how to change this?
Thanks!
