yes, this recovery is built to work with a12+ (a11 is compatible)
(some little things need to be completed, but this will be later)

I have actually a Xiaomi 11lite 5G NE with Xiaomi.eu rom (a11: version 12.5.9, rooted with magisk 15.1) and twrp-3.6.0_11-0-lisa. I am very happy with them but I would like to try this recovery. Can I install it over TWRP using "ramdisk install"?
Must I reinstall from Platform tool?
I appreciate very much that you are working on a android 12 compatible version!

Doesn't work ... after sending recovery with 'fastboot boot OrangeFox-12.1-lisa.img' command it gives a little vibration and the screen goes blank. when forced reboot to recovery there's MIUI recovery 5.0 that's all ....

I did it with 1st method but will try 2nd later ...

Even after following method 2 commands, it still gives a slight vibration and the screen goes blank. when forced reboot to recovery there's MIUI recovery 5.0 that's all... I am on MIUI 13 by Papp54 (22.7.7 Beta) (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xiaomi-11-lite-5g-ne-by-papp54-r.4449665/)

Same for me (black screen after fastboot boot ...)
I have stock MIUI 12.5.8 (A11) and so far I used SHRP from HimanshuRaj (another thread here) and OrangeFox-R11.1_0-Unofficial-lisa (I also picked up here on XDA) and I was always able to fastboot boot ... to either of them (and then to install one or another permanently to the Ramdisk - actually I later Installed magisk together, too, everything works perfectly)
Don't know nwhy now this OF 12..1 fails to boot (black screen) - I had to reboot to my older OrangeFox-R11.1_0-Unofficial-lisa
---
Also, do I really need to disable VBMETA verification?
So far I used both SHRP and OF 11.1 (and patched the Magisk to the boot img), but never ever had to play with/disable VBMETA verification. Everything worked fine (also passing SafetyNet with the USNF module)
---
Also, Lisa is A/B device. Doesn't that mean that (if disabling verity in vbmeta is neccessary) instead of
fastboot flash vbmeta ...
fastboot flash vbmeta_system ...
we have to use (depending on which slot is currently active):
fastboot flash vbmeta_a ... or fastboot flash vbmeta_b ...
fastboot flash vbmeta_system_a ... or fastboot flash vbmeta_system_b ...
(or fastboot will correctly flash to the active slot just by using vbmeta and vbmeta_system, resp, as in the OP post #1)
Sorry for asking that, as I said I used two other custom recoveries with my MIUI 12.5.8 so far, and didn't need to touch vbmeta

Same issue as above. Unable to boot to recovery. However, I was able to install via TWRP. I tested OTG, backup/restore, flashing and sideload. All working. The only thing that does not seem to be working is mounting external sd. Other than that, great work. Thanks!

You need to flash vbmeta!
To keep the Custom recovery you need to flash the vbmeta disabler for RUI through fastboot with proper command. I hope someone may help you!

the guide in it's current form doesn't work on RMX2030
@iamlordutkarsh. With all due respect the posted guide doesn't yield a positive result. The #4 item - Then Reboot To Recovery - boot the phone into fastboot again, after entering the command "fastboot reboot recovery". Any information on how to actually make it work would be really appreciated. I spent >6 hours trying everything I know and reading all the info I could find on XDA or Realme Telegram channel and now believe RMX2030 is not rootable at this point in time.

Before providing, I need to know "what vendor you're using?". If you're using Color os, flashing vbmeta is pretty simple. But, if you're in RUI vendor, scene is different. You've to do additional things even after flashing the vbmeta. If not it'll lead you to "Boot.img damaged!" One of the worst OS I've ever seen oof!
I'm strongly recommend you to use TWRP if you're in RUI vendor since Orange Fox facing some errors when flashing. And also for RUI it wasn't official if I'm right.
And one more thing Orange Fox is Official now for RMX2030, Color OS.

I'm using Colour OS and would like the vbmeta please.
Is this 100% working for Realme 5i RMX2030?
Running on latest Realme UI at the moment.
I want to switch roms or at least root because free ram barely hits 1GB free -_-
hello?
I guess this is fake/incorrect then?
Yeah, I can't even get this to work on ColorOS. I did "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" (I renamed the Orangefox file to make it easier) and if I select reboot to recovery on the phone it just boots back to fastboot mode and if I do fastboot reboot it just reboots normally.
Good Luck

Okay Before that... Make sure You're
• Unlocked your Bootloader (Necessary).
• Having the proper OrFox, TWRP or SHRP recovery for RMX2030 (Android Pie).
• Having the Pie vbmeta for RMX2030. (See Attachment)
• For additionally you need R5i Decrypt ZIP. (Optional)*
• Having ADB with Platform-tools & ADB driver installed on your PC.
• And I assume you know/read the proper command for flashing the recovery, vbmeta.

Vbmeta | 4KB
5i Decryption | 503KB
*Notes:
> Right after installing the Custom Recovery flash the Decryption zip if you wish.
> In case (it happens rare cases) If you're facing any problems like booting again and again into custom recovery that's because it may need Format Data. So, Format Data through the custom recovery can fix it permanently.
And one more thing I've not tested this OrFox myself. I hope I've been used other release of OrFox. Hope this one works perfectly. If not let me know, I'll maybe share what I've used.

Oh yes! When I was using colorOS I've been used OranageFox and TWRP as my recovery. Flashing ozip sometimes cause error. But, it's not a problem at all. You can fix it.
The thing is doing this properly that means if you follow the instructions, you'll be sure succeed. Otherwise may lead to soft brick or even hard.
And now I'm using RUI with TWRP, everything works fine. If you're wanted to switch back to ColorOS it's possible but, for that you sure need TWRP (recommended) and some knowledge to edit things inside the RMX2030 ColorOS ozip. The thing is installing Custom Recovery in RUI is tricky.

Thanks for doing this but I still can't get the Custom Recovery to boot I'm afraid
I tried:
fastboot flash recovery ofox.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot reboot bootloader
That booted back into fastboot and still shows "Secure Boot" and I selected "Recovery mode" but that just rebooted into fastboot.
Then I tried:
fastboot flash recovery ofox.img
fastboot --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
and selected "Recovery mode" on the phone but it just rebooted into fastboot.
Then I tried:
fastboot flash recovery ofox.img
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
and selected "Recovery mode" on the phone but again it just rebooted into fastboot.
I then tried the last set of commands with twrp instead of OrangeFox but still had the same result.
So I don't really know where I'm going wrong.

Can you please provide the realme 5i stock recovery (the one with the RUI)
nvm, can't unlock bootloader because realme themselves is not allowing it for Realme UI Android 10 at the moment.
So I can't even go back to android 9 stock rom realme 5i or do anything. Can't go to bootloader since their unlocking request is not yet open at the moment.

How to install GSIs and discussion about it

When downloading a GSI, the required variant for Poco M3 is ARM64, A/B (perhaps referred to as "SAR"). Download and extract if necessary, the accepted image formats are sparse and EXT4. To install:
Code:
#Restart on bootloader fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
#Install the vbmeta image provided by Google to disable AVB and allow GSIs to boot
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
#Format userdata to avoid possible encryption problems. Back up your files first
fastboot -w
#Restart on recovery (userspace) fastbootd
fastboot reboot fastboot
#Install GSI
fastboot flash system system.img
#Finally restart on it
fastboot reboot

Updated adb and fastboot: Windows | Linux | Mac
Tested GSIs and issues:
(will be edited later)
I have tested some GSIs. Here are some bugs.
- (happens to almost all variants) Google voice typing / Google Assistant are not functioning. Seems like the microphone does not pick up our voice. I have tried chaning permision, clearing data etc but to no avail.
- (happens to Caos 11 and some modded AOSP 11) The device will be listed as uncertified trebble device, so I cannot install Google apps nor login with Google account.
That's all for now.

Let's talk in private, I think it's better than flood the topic. Try installing xiaomi.eu again and then copy the /tmp/recovery.log and send it to me. And your device is not completely dead, at most reflashing the super partition will solve this

INSTRUCTIONS:
Flash Indonesian fastboot rom on a Global Variant via ADB and Miflash
Turn off phone and reboot to fastboot. Connect the said device to PC.
In PC, run cmd-here.exe in the adb directory and enter:
fastboot reboot fastboot
//.(this will take you to fastbootD where you can access the "super" partition consisting of:
system.img
vendor.img
product.img ).//
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase vendor
fastboot reboot bootloader to enter bootloader
Make sure you backup the IMEI to ensure safety before flashing via SP Tools.
Download an Indonesian fastboot rom from source then flash it to phone via MIFlash. (Recommend: 12.0.1 or lower)
After flashing, reboot the device and viola, you've got an Indonesian version of the MIUI to your Global Variant Device.
Flashing TWRP on a Redmi Note 9
Download the said recovery from this link below
"https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1TPdi1UGf_kUxFOdTl3u8xY5h-aQUDz9h&export=download"
Reboot device to bootloader and connect to PC.
In PC, run adb and type
"fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img" (vbmeta from the indonesian fastboot rom, NOT from the Global fastboot rom)
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
"fastboot reboot recovery"
After that, the recovery should be working.
FLASHING CUSTOM ROM (for 12.0.1.0) OR PORT (11.0.2.0)
Flashing a Custom Port.
Download a Custom Port from a telegram or the links provided below (made by Communos)
Bliss port
https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1wLAJkQvqS0A8EtNbOpGUdmo4oO0XZnl3&export=download
Lineage port
https://tdrive.elytra8.workers.dev/LineageOS%2017.1%20Port%20Merlin.zip
crDroid Port
Google Drive - Quota exceeded
drive.google.com
ShapeshiftOS port
https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1zQNHf67S8UQfgQT5qE0jtVIN2pDzjZnw&export=download
Then, connect phone to PC and copy your preferred rom to SDCard (Memory card is recommended).
Reboot your phone to recovery.
In TWRP, you have to wipe data, dalvik, cache and internal storage.
Select install and choose the rom from SDcard. Then, flash it.
Reboot your device.
Viola, you just installed a custom port or rom to your device.
Note: I will add more detail in the future but right now, if you have questions, please ask in this thread.
Special Thanks to:
@Communos
@VD171
You forgot fastboot reboot fastboot before fastboot erase system, it's an important step.
And before flashing the Port, you have to wipe data, dalvik, cache and internal in TWRP.
Would appreciate if credits are added in the guide.
[Q&A] [ Updated on 02-16-2021]
Q. My UI lags after I flashed these ports, what should I do?
A.
From Communos,
...
If your UI lags, place props_conf in internal storage, flash MagiskHide Props config module in magisk manager and reboot

Q. Why do I need to flash these ports/ roms?
A.
From what I have seen, MIUI is very meticulous in secretly invading someone's privacy. This was said by @phhusson and @erfan that GSI Ports are more secure than MIUI.

Hello, when doing inside fastboot
fastboot reboot fastboot
it reboots to TWRP instead.
What can be the cause?

I'm not sure, but I think you can't reboot to fastboot inside the fastboot.
Try
fastboot reboot bootloader
Nevermind, seems that TWRP implements user space fastboot (basically TWRP works as fastbootd when connected to the PC.
This can be verified with:
fastboot getvar is-userspace

I second that: Link does not work; I tried TWRP for V11.0.4.0.QJOCNXM which is then stuck on bootscreen.
EDIT: Download working again and I just installed Lineage 18.1. Love you, guys!!
Apologies for the newbie (to flashing redmi devices) question but I can't get SP Flash tool to back up the IMEI. Drivers are all on, but when you plug in the phone to the USB cable nothing is read back. Do I need to have unlocked the bootloader before this works? I'm still waiting for mine to be allowed
The Xiaomi Unlock tool doesn't recognize the phone. I installed the drivers in the fist post of this thread, but still. Any idea?
Hi all. Can I backup the IMEI code using the scatter file from the Indonesian 12.0.1 ROM, or must I use the latest stock?

it's best to go global first coming from tmo. No, as long as you don't do an ota on Global. so flash global then boot, then flash custom rom(following their guide).
If u lose service modem is provided (Just unzip) Bootloader fastboot command "fastboot flash modem modem.img
This of course is assuming u got unlock.bin and unlocked Bootloader
Here we go!
Welcome @gwolfu
Hopefully we don't need 11.2.7.7?? It's not out here in EU yet, what's the reason most of the custom roms seem to want the EU build by the way?
CRDroid, fantastic to see this here my favorite ROM since the days of my LG G3! Can't wait to try this out, will sadly be waiting till TWRP tho as I'd prefer to avaoid gapps. Unless there is any chance of a non gapps build also? Cheeky....!

Yeap, try this rom.
Flashing the correct firmware with the TWRP but sometimes it does not work, the method that works 100% is to use Miflash(without relocking the bootloader) and let the phone restart then switch to fastboot mode once arrived at the request of the Xiaomi account.
Install TWRP
Twrp
Wipe/format data type yes
reboot twrp
put the rom in internal storage or use Otg
Flash rom
• After installation complete, Reboot system
if bootloop format data and reboot system.
This method differs from that recommended by the OP but remains the most common one, you can use that of the OP, at your choice.
In any case, formatting the data does not erase the previously installed firmware.
.Use 12 version
