Works perfectly fine for me. Really nice job

This recovery is really nice, clearly a lot of work went into it! I haven't tested the full backup, but if it's really possible now, it changes everything for Android 12.

Does this mean restoring data is working in this release?
Booted it up and making a full backup now. The gui looks very very slick and elegant. Real nice job!

It works perfectly fine here.

ok gonna try a restore, got another bootloop after updating lineageos, the second time.
Last time had to do a fresh install.
Do I need to do something with the slots?
I did a backup, updated lineageos, injected magisk after ota (slot change) and then it rebooted to the other slot with a bootloop.
Update:
Got it working again. Restored super and boot, and then changed slots (same slot at the time of backup). Only difference I could notice was that all my magisk modules were disabled. Did not restore data because it seems to be intact.

Different ROMs on this device do random and different things. Some change the slot after installation/update, and some don't. Some use the standard update_engine functionality, and some don't. None of any of this has anything to do with the recovery's own functionality. You always need to follow to the letter the instructions of the ROM's maintainer, and to hope that they know what they are doing/saying. Otherwise, it's all left to trial and error (with all that this entails).

I always follow the instructions down to the letter but that was no guarantee for success this time. Do you still have to remove pin/pattern/fingerprints before backing up / restoring data with this latest release?

You should remove them before backup, and you definitely must remove them before restoring data.
As for reliability of nandroid backups, many things can (and sometimes do) go wrong. Further information is available here.
With Android 12 and higher there is the additional scourge of potential fscrypt policy issues that can make the system unbootable after restoring a data backup. This can especially be a problem if you backed up a GAPP-less ROM on which you had installed one GAPPS package (eg, NikGAPPs) but when you reflashed the ROM, you installed a different GAPPs (eg, OpenGAPPs) before restoring the backup. Basically, this is a sure recipe for a bootloop.
The moral of the story is that nandroid data backups can be a hit-or-miss affair.

I am running Pixel OS now and wanted to move to an other rom. So i removed my PIN to none security. Than installed this orangefox version on recovery. (From Pixel OS recovery)
It keeps asking for pin to decrypt data. But there is no pin set. I cannot format data because it cant acces partition. Cant even wipe "data" or internal storage.
Thankfully system is still booting
Tried:
1. Add New pin in system but orangefox does not take it for decryption.
2. Tried SKKK TWRP but same issue
What am i doing wrong?
How can i format data and install another rom?

I'm on pixel experience. I have pin code. I backed up all partitions (except internal storage) successfully. Will it be restorable or it won't decrypt?

Thanks man, work perfectly fine for me

Well, I wouldn't recommend restoring "all partitions". You really should only restore the boot and and data partitions (and Super, if you backed that up). As long as you remove all lockscreen protections before rebooting to recovery to restore, there should be no problem with decryption. But you should run a test first.

I never had any issues with earlier versions of Pixel OS.
Yes, if all else fails, then "fastboot -w" is the way to go.

Aroma. Just showed "0 files" next to it. Which made flashing and wiping the phone rather difficult. I think it was R7 though, which means it could have been fixed.
Good Work
... please also give credits for device boardconfig
At least: Lets welcome a fresh approach of an recovery!

You need to mount OTG, before use a file manager switch backuping storage to OTG.

Probably an old build.
I did some tests, usb otg gets mounted when plugged in, and files shows correctly. You can do backups and restores from It too.
I recommend you to try this official build and see if it works.

Yo dude. Gave it another shot.
The normal interface detects the USB OTG storage fine. But even with the auto mount setting, the aroma file manager still shows "0 files"

So aroma file manager problem, i can't fix that
What's your usb file system? Fine for me with fat32 and aroma.
To see if its aroma problem, Just take aroma file manager zip and flash It in twrp. If It doesent work, its an aroma fm problem
I flashed it a while ago and noticed MTP is not working despite being enabled.
File manager will not work either, trying to open it throws an error installing AromaFM

For most people aroma and mtp works. Are you encrypted? Maybe an encryption problem.
Try to flash this build, maybe at least aroma fm problem solved.

Yes, both problems only happen while being encrypted. Formatting data partition solves the issue

It seems that the TWRP kernel doesn't provide that interface. The best thing to do is to extract recovery.img from the OrangeFox zip, flash that as an image with TWRP, boot it, and then use it to flash the OrangeFox zip.

This is hardly helpful information. You need to explain exactly what you you did, step-by-step, and exactly what was the outcome of each step. There is absolutely no reason why you should have experienced any problem.

Thanks^^
In my 16GB model, when I did a recovery through TWRP, I had a bootloop problem.
However, this 'OrangeFox Recovery' does not cause this issue.
And, SD card with 'exFAT' format is recognized as normal.
Thank you very much.
Days of stress were relieved at once.

Hi,
installed OrangeFox [email protected]_0 on my Radmin Note 9S (Global Version - Curtana)
But every time I install a custom Rom and reboot, it boot to recovery.
(I tried Fluid-1.2 and crDroid 7.3)
I have the same problem with TWRP.
If I install an official Firmware (like miui_CURTANAGlobal_V12.0.1.0.RJWMIXM_e29d7b7c84_11.0), and reboot, it successfully boot into MIUI.
What I'm missing ?
Thanks for any help.

I believe the Thanks button is dead and gone. Times have changed in XDA
I am still in Evox 4.5.
Not Miatoll.
Using TWRP.
Can I use this without format? (I am thinking, I can)
But I need to confirm.
Thanks for your hard work.

Hello there, I have a Joyeuse and I don't have to format anything, you can actually switch recoveries at any time. And to answer your question yes go to TWRP and flash OrangeFox.

Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention. The kpayloadtimestamperror is basically the anti-rollback protection that stock AOSP recovery has. There is patch for it in the TWRP repos but for some reason OrangeFox doesn't clone those. The OrangeFox version in the Ultima boot image is an older build of mine with the correct patches. I am attaching this new build for you to test if that issue still exists. I am currently not able to test anything due to a broken device.
Hello Emufan. Thank you for all your work. I flashed the OrangeFox recovery through TRWP and it is stuck on the recovery boot. It shows the orange welcome screen but it does not go any further. I installed crdroid version 7.5 last weekend and was hoping to install now this new recovery plus the new 7.6 crdroid rom. The crdroid 7.5 rom still boots normally. Unless you have any idea how to fix this I will try and install TWRP again. Thank you again. This rom Is really cool.

First of all, did this problem appear with the published build on github or with the build I attached above? Secondly do you have adb access in recovery mode? If your phone recognised by adb please run:
Code:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log .
to fetch the recovery log and upload it here.
I am pretty sure I flashed the orangefox recovery zip from the github site. For the moment adb does not work. Crdroid 7.6 started installing itself on slot A. Previous version was on slot B before. Crdroid 7.6 is not booting and I can't seem to be able to access twrp. I think I need to flash TRWP again and then I will try and flash the orange fox zip you put on this thread and eventually post here the log. I imagine this is going to take a while. ^^
I managed to get the OrangeFox recovery and CRdroid 7.6 working. So far so good. But I have the same problem I had before. This strange slot A slot B configuration. Crdroid apparently installs on the other slot, different then the one that is set. I had it set for slot A and now it installed the rom on slot B. I did it last time but at this moment I am not able to change slots. And now I can not install Nikgapps because I installed OrangeFOx recovery on A and Crdroid is on B. With last install, TWRP+crdroid 7.5 I fixed this by installing the recovery on both slots. Should I flash the orange fox recovery on slot B? How can I do that? Is the recovery file still useful to you? I can't seem to get adb to work. Has the recovery file disappeared with the wipes I did?
After some back and forth. The recovery is working. After installing CRdroid I did a wipe and somehow I removed the boot recovery partition. I could restore it using flashboot flash boot_a twrp.img or something like this.
Don't forget to install the OrangeFox version that is on this thread and not the one that is on github.
THanks again.

Your Current Recovery's Issue.
Flash the .img File and then Flash the ZIP From OrangeFox.
Thank you so much ! Been using this since a while and it's far ahead in terms of functionality from the other recoveries available. Hopefully we'll have newer ROMs to flash with OFRP since it makes the process so painless
Finally some good stable recovery
Thank you for the software! I installed it without any problems, I'm testing it.
The download link only takes me to the telegram support group. Where can I download it?
What are the chances that this Nord recovery will work on a brand new just released Nord CE 5G?
OP, kindly check your Conversation message. Thanks.
The Thread is Back Now!
Links are Updated!
Are things like backup and restore working?
Is android 11 supported?
I have had issues using this recovery each time I install a new ROM, I just get bootloops. Current install process is as follows:
1. Wipe Data and Cache
2. Install ROM of choice
3. Bootloop
Do I need to remove encryption? I presume the Rom is installed to the correct partition each time.

Majority of the custom roms (A11) aren't still supported by installing through recovery, they have their own recovery from which you should adb sideload. This, I assume, is a work that should be done by the rom developer to support flashing through custom recoveries (like orangefox), nothing much can be done by the devs of the recovery. I can be wrong here, please do correct me if i'm wrong here but this is what I feel.

I think you can Sideload from OrangeFox too.
And, I think you should Format data too.
This Seems an A/B Issue with Dynamic Partitions.
