Question All apps in Dex - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

I've seen it somewhere before - don't know where - there was a switch, setting, or some app - that enabled to run any app in Dex. Anyone know?
By default some apps, for instance some games, tell you "This app can't be started in Dex." if you try to run it in Dex.
I think there was some way to brute force it - but can't find it...

**AMAZING APP** Autostarts (Still useful, let me know your thoughts)

After rooting our phones, there are several apps that still run (for instance AP and AccuWeather) that I never use.
Autostarts is a really great app.
It lets you prevent apps from opening on certain occurances.
For instance, certain apps open on SMS sent/receive or call receive/sent...
It's a great way to keep apps that you never use/need from starting.
I find that this app is still applicable compared to Juice Defender and SetCPU as these newer phones seem to handle that well.
Anyone else find the same?
Thanks for the feedback.

Why not just get root explorer and delete them?

Try it... A lot of them are processes that cannot be deleted.
Besides...
It isn't about deleting apps.
It's about controlling when an app will start (or when it's triggered to start) based off actions.
Why do I need app x,y, z starting when i send a text message? Answer... I don't...
From the market:
Keep control over your phone: See what applications do behind your back.
Shows you what apps run on phone startup, and what other events trigger in the background. Root users can disable unwanted autostarts and speed up their phone boot.
Note: Root-Access *is* required to make changes. Otherwise, this application will be read-only.

Let me rephrase as I'm not making my point (sorry!!).
Google Maps will start at bootup... also when you change connectivity on your device.
I only want Maps open when I open it...
This app lets you prevent things from opening based off certain events (boot up, outgoing sms, incoming call, connectivity change, etc).
So freezing or deleting would remove the app that you might otherwise want.
Hope that makes sense.
Oh i see yes that is true some apps will come on as soon as connectivity changes, If find good settings post some screen shot and i will do the same

This is a VERY handy app. thanks loads. this is definitely a function that android should incorporate stock like they did with task killer
I purchased this app back when I first got my evo and I am now using it with my ET. It is a very handy app to have.

Possible to set per-app memory settings?

I'm having trouble with the phone closing apps on me that I don't want closed. No this isn't a continuation of the thread that was locked (real multitasking thread).
The issue I'm having is not only the browser which closes occasionally but a specific app: teamviewer. Not sure if anyone uses it but it's a remote desktop app. Once I'm logged into my computer, if I hit home and then go straight back into teamviewer, I come back to the app but it has logged me out of the session. I didn't have this issue on my S2 and I can background memory intensive apps like angry birds or wind up knight without a problem.
Before you say the app isn't properly coded for ICS - I use teamviewer on my galaxy tab 10.1 which is using an ICS ROM and it can actually background a live session of teamviewer and go back in without any problems (not being disconnected from the session).
Am I wrong to think it's just a more aggressive memory management setting on the phone versus my tablet? Also, my launcher getting redrawn a lot is quite annoying as well.
I've tried it before, it doesn't work efficiently, it will make your phone unstable, its not worth the time/effort/tweaking in hope that it may work eventually.
The method I tried though was re-prioritising the OOM killer, which once again runs more effectively without user modification.
EDIT
Have you even tried changing the background tasks option in settings > development options?
Does teamviewer support multitasking?
I use phonemypc and logmein and both will keep sessions running when you task out of the app, but splashtop will end the session.
Edit: sorry, just read that sessions remain active on your gtab. Email the developer and see if sessions are supported in ICS.

[Q] How to use App Ops on the Note P605?

Hey there,
since a week I own a Note 10.1 2014ed with LTE. So far I didn't modify anything on it and run the stock -MJ2 firmware.
I want to restrict some apps of accessing what the don't need to access and since 4.3 supposedly has this rights control feature called "App Ops" already integrated, I checked how to use it... Google gives many links to descriptions how to open the feature, they are all the same: Either you use a launcher that can start "Activities" (like Nova launcher) or you install one of the many apps from Playstore which do the trick as well.
Here is what I found on the Note:
Whenever I start the App Ops (no matter if I use an app, and I tried several, or start this activity), it just takes me to the first page of the Settings screen (WiFi).
Although searching the web for a while, it seems no one who owns this Note is using the feature or not having the trouble with it.
Can someone confirm this problem or, even better, give me a solution for it?
Cheers

I have that very same thing happen with something totally different. In wanam when I try to enable the flashlight from lock screen feature it takes me tu settings page nothing to do with camera flashlight or lock screen.....No idea I just gave up for now
Hmmm, no one interested?
I'm just wondering now if people don't care what their apps are accessing or if they use a third party program to make restrictions.
Any idea how to control apps will be welcome. If you use sth like LBE, please leave a reply.
Cheers
Hi there again.
Since there is no information available throughout the web concerning my question I was in contact with Samsung support about it. I thought it might be helpful for others what was replied.
They said that using the original Samsung Firmware, the feature cannot be used. They didn't specify whether it was completely removed from the system or only disabled so itcould possibly still work.
Since I am not a developer I didn't go into more detail there.
Now I hope that a custom ROM like Cyanogen will be available soon for the tablet.

I'm facing the exact same issues.
When following the windows opening when starting App Ops from e.g AppOpsX, a window titled "App Ops" opens quickly, then closes and ends up on the Settings screen. Same for flashlight.
My best guess was that Samsungs version of the Settings App blocks access in a way that they can only handle windows/panes that their app is capable of - would explain why it shows up just quickly and then closes.
I've been thinking that if I'd be able to flash the stock settings app, temporarily freeze the Samsung one and try App Ops - might work?
I have the same issue. My p605 is not rooted

[APP] Wear Mini Launcher

I really love this app it does an amazing job of replacing the stock launcher, and let's you navigate everything like settings, quick settings a well as get to apps faster (multi column app vs single app display). You can also sort by active use.
Not sure if anyone else has tried it, the only part I wish I knew how to do was replace the stock launcher for this to get some resources back.

I had it on my watch for a while and found it useful. But then I removed it because I started getting an error "screen overlay detected" while trying to run some other apps (e.g Messenger). After several trials and errors I suspected that the Weat Mini Launcher may be the root cause. So I removed it. After that the error has not occurred again. But whether that is just a co-incidence OR the Mini Launcher was really the root cause - I don't know.

Yes, this is an issue I've found to. The app has a setting to disable itself, then you can run your app with the overlay error and give it the new permissions. Then go back to your mini launcher and enable it again. You only have to do this with new apps that require new permissions the first time.

Hey thanks, that's a very interesting app, sadly I can't figure out if it's possible to create a task or whatever, what says:
If app X get startet, the screen automatically scalls from 1080p+ to 720p+ and when it get tapped out or closed, the resolution get set to normal (1080p+) again.
OS here anyone with Tasker experience, who would know how to create that ?
