Overview:This guide provides step-by-step instructions for flashing any existing Sony stock rom Android 8 or 9 to the latest Sony stock ROM Android 9 Build v47.2.A.11.228 for use on the MetroPCS network. The finalized flash is a hybrid of Sony UK v47.2.A.11.228-R2C for fingerprint sensor functionality and Sony US OEM v47.2.A.11.228-R7C for the US modem firmware required for T-Mobile MVNO’s (MetroPCS).
A modification is required to instruct the device to recognize a MetroPCS SIM card as a T-Mobile MVNO carrier. Post modification, when a MetroPCS SIM card is inserted into the phone the correct modem files (T-Mobile) necessary for use on the MetroPCS network will be loaded. This modification can only be installed by temporarily flashing the device to an older Sony stock Oreo rom. Installing the modified APK file. Then re-flashing the device with the latest Sony Android 9 Pie build. This guide covers all steps needed to complete the full procedure from start to finish.
On completion, the device will function correctly on the MetroPCS network with the following characteristics:
• VoLTE HD Voice Calling fully functional (greatly improved call quality)• Wi-Fi HD Voice Calling fully functional• Data speeds greatly improved• Fingerprint recognition sensor fully functional• Latest Sony Android 9 build v47.2.A.11.228• Device remains unrooted• Bootloader remains locked• Android Attest Key remains intact• Mobile Hotspot and USB Tethering fully functional
The step-by-step guide in pdf format is attached below.

For those following the manual method:To download only the modified .apk, attached below is the modified com.sonymobile.customizationselector-res-305.apk file for MetroPCS VoLTE functionality. This apk can be used for both Oreo and Pie target platforms.
For those wanting to modify the referenced .apk file for T-Mobile MVNO's other than MetroPCS:Attached is an additional guide 'XZ1 Compact - Modifying the com.sonymobile.customizationselector APK for T-Mobile MVNO's Step-By-Step Guide.pdf' which provides instructions on how to manually modify the com.sonymobile.customizationselector.apk file. This second guide is written for the more advanced technical type. This may (should) work for enabling VoLTE on other T-Mobile MVNO's such as Mint Mobile, Boost, Simple, Ultra, and Tello among others.

PS: As you all know,Chinese offical limits my network to connecting XDA, so I coundn't answer your question immediately. What more, all of my full odin packages are downloaded at http://romup.com/ ,but it is not for free. Everybody can search ROMs by phone model in the searching box(with VPN to China).
The method can consult http://forum.xda-developers.com/att.../n920a-mm-odin-package-n920aucu2bpe6-t3415938 , Odin up on 3.12.4. And this firmwork don't Contain Pit files. Just flash first four files and waiting five minutes...

Hi, can i update from an unlocked AT&T N920AUCU2APB2 directly to this using Odin? Will that cause any issues?
hey guys, not trying to hijack the thread but i have a USCellular Note 5 which is unlocked and everything works but MMS and 4G is flakey, usually bouncing between 4G and H and H+ (on the signal)
i dont feel data speeds suffer but speed tests show it so fear signal reception could be different that an AT&T note 5.
anyways, does anyone know if it is possible to odin flash this rom into my USCellular phone and make it run properly on AT&T.
the NOTE 5 is of course unlocked and when looked at the specs is only missing 2 cellular bands and has more bands in 3G than the AT&T variant.
anyone have a clue, i would not like to brick this phone beyond repair but am willing to flash it with an AT&T rom if that will fix it.
the APN's area ll correct, but i did install KIK messaging and when setting MMS to manual APN it immediately came up with a uscellular APN which really makes me believe somewhere in the phone its still holding a USCellular APN and not using the AT&T one even though it is set in the Network settings of the phone.

XA1 cellular network not working after updating to Oreo

After installing the Oreo update for my xperia, the cellular network stopped working.
My sim card is recognized, but I can't access the network.
The sim card does work when I put in my other phone.

What I tried:
- of course restart the phone
- all possible settings for the APN
- reinitialize the phone from the android menu
- repair the phone from the Xperia companion
Any hints on what I could do to try to fix it?
I'm currently downloading an android 7.0 xperia ROM, but I'm not completely sure it does match my model.

Hi
Follow what I've written here https://forum.xda-developers.com/xa1-ultra/help/service-android-8-0-oreo-update-t3780937
Hope that helps!:highfive:
F.
Ok I've managed to make it "work".
I post the solution here in case other people get the same issue.
The phone is a dual sim one, and for some reason, in order to make it work its necessary to switch the location of the sim card.
If the last time it worked, the sim was in the slot 1, then stop the phone, put in in slot 2 and it will work.
However, if the phone restarts, for a reason or another, the slot 2 stops working. In which case, you have to stop the phone and insert in the slot 1...
And so on, and so on.
I guess there is a bug in Sony's driver for their dual sim system, I hope it will be fixed in the future.

Moto Z2 force XT1789-03 update help

My Z2 force software channel is Sprint, sim of all carriers work. It doesn't have any sprint bloatware . It is stuck on Android 7.1.1 with Sep, 2017 security patch. Upon checking for update it says its up to date. I just want to update my android to latest version (stock rom only) with the latest security patch released. Would appreciate if someone could provide me the rom and update and also give some guidance. My bootloader is unlocked.

Just use Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant, guy (of course Motorola and Google driver installed). It's the easiest method to get newest Oreo.
Or go to Development or Guide thread and search the firmware for Sprint variant.

Ok, since LMSA didn't support my device for flashing, I'll be flashing the rom myself.
Would highly appreciate if you could just answer these questions.
1) What happens if use a sprint rom for a differnt SKU (not for XT1789-03)
2) Will I get sprint bloatware with the rom update. (Currently, I have none)
3) Currently I am using my country's sim/carrier. Will this update lock my sim to sprint or create network problems?
1. It can cause problems or not. This depends on variant or ROM: Sprint single sim can be flashed the Retail dual sim ROM (with bootloader unlocked); you may flash a Verizon (or ATT) ROM to your unlocked bootloader Retail one but you can not do versa.
2. Variant stock fw will have some bloatwares (more or less). Retail seems having no bloatware. I dont know about other variant (T-mobile, US cellular...).
3. If your phone is carrier unlocked one (like my ATT), flashing fw causes no problem. I have heard someone had some issues one 4G or else, but my Sprint one (the dead one) had no problem.
Good luck!
i have the same problem with my sprint z2 force model XT1789-03 and i want to update my phone
let me know please if you find any solution without causing device any problem

I successfully updated to stock android 8.0(retail version) with zero issues. I followed this guide's Part E
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/guides-bootloader-twrp-custom-roms-root-t3805737
You can either go for sprint stock ROM or Retail ROM.
Do i have to unlock my bootloader and do i need to root my mobile?

Note10+ 975U1 Android 11 One UI 3 Beta available. With tether fix

I looked for another thread and couldn't find one, if there is one for the 975U1 this one can be closed. As the title says the beta is available. I installed it yesterday and rolled back today because I was no longer able to use my phone as a Hotspot. Technically I could use the Hotspot feature it just didn't work because it wouldn't pass any data through to anything I had tethered to my Note10+ 975U1.
I should mention I have the non 5G variant.
I was able to get cellular data going again through tethering by adding a new APN with everything the same and adding default, dun, mms, supl, hipri to the "APN type" field.

I suspect that I'll have to flash the u1 files again so that I can try the beta myself on my u. I wish Verizon would let us play in the beta games.

I hear you. I like having the unlocked variant most of the time until I want to use a function that AT&T will not allow me to use because I don't have an AT&T branded phone.
It's not actually available afaik. I got the same thing in Samsung Members on my T-Mobile variant (SM-975U) and it was simply an announcement of their planned update schedule.

See the screenshot I attached.
If you flash the 975U1 firmware and Samsung is still taking beta testers you should be able to get it. You may lose some functions of your carrier. If you are using a carrier branded phone it looks like Android 11 will be available in February. I am not sure if that's when Samsung gives it to the carriers or when the carriers are expected to release Android 11 for your model.

Can I use a Global Rom on a T-Mobile N10?

Hello I have a T-Mobile unlock N10 I would like to know if I can install a N10 global Rom or NA in it. I have noticed that the global version have certain settings that are not greyed out
Thanks in advance
I'm using the european rom linked to in this thread (https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-nord-n10-5g-android-11-update/) and it is working fine for me on Google Fi (which is T-mobile nvmo). I'm supposedly getting a 5G connection too.

Just to be clear I have an T-mobile unlock n10 but I am using H2o wireless services. I am interested in getting the wifi calling option as my girl have a n10 from oneplus and that option is there for her to choose.
Edit: I believe my Bootloader is not greyed out (able to unlock) as we contacted T-mobile and was able to unlock phone for other carriers
Thanks

I can't guarantee compatibility for your specific carrier but yes the process that I linked you will allow you to install the global version of the ROM on a T-Mobile device.

Cool ...now I saw a thread on magisk for install would any be better than the other method ?...thanks again
If you check out the post "Found a chink in the armor" you'll find a debloat tweak. That will allow the OEM Unlocking to be clickable. Request your unlock token from oneplus, and unlock and root as normal. I just completed it. I am NETWORK LOCKED, for now there is a work around.
You can see here I am still network locked. The other pics will show you I'm also bootloader unlocked and rooted.
