Downgrade to Android 8 (J6+ J610FN) - Samsung Galaxy J6+ Questions & Answers

Hello,
I'm kind of a noob at this. I managed to install TWRP 3.3.1 on my Galaxy J6+ J610 FN phone. Currently I'm running the latest android that was released for this phone but it works really bad for me. Is there any chances to downgrade to Android 8 or a good version of Android that works faster on my device?
I tried with Odin but for some reason I cannot downgrade it

You need to extract correct files from samsung firmware package(AP...) or you can try installing any custom rom which makes your android faster (obviously due to less bloatware, ram management etc.) Hope it helps!

Rooting Galaxy Note 8 wifi N5110 and updating to Nougat or Android 7.0?

Hello everyone. Please forgive me but I am a super newbie in regards to rooting and terminologies. I have a Galaxy Note 8 N5100, wifi version. It has the original firmware 4.4.2 and I would like to upgrade it to Nougat 7.0. My son is having trouble playing new games on it so I theorized that it could be due to its age. Before I buy a brand new tablet I figured I would try to see if updating the N5100 would help.
I have googled and saw this link and it seems fairly easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2626778
Is that the correct thing to go through the process? And to update to Nougat I saw this:
http://www.android-nougat.tech/2017/03/samsung-galaxy-note-8-0-wi-fi-5253.html
Or if there is a better/easier way I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Wish I could help. I'm just getting back into this tablet myself.I'm sure someone will show up with info.

Hi! I was planning to do exactly the same thing -- upgrade my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to Android Nougat -- and from scouring the XDA forums re this device, it seems to me that we have two popular options (based on the comments and thanks-ratings).
Here's the link to the more popular one, it's been renamed LineageOS 14.1 by the developer(s) but is based on Nougat 7.x:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...m-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-gt-n51xx-t3533329
And if for some reason you don't like the name of that one (or for any other reason, just to have an alternative), there's another popular one called RR (short for Resurrection Remix OS). It is based on Nougat 7.1.1_r25 and nightlies of LineageOS 14.1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/rom-resurrection-remix-5-8-2-rel-1-t3571116
I'm about to upgrade to LineageOS now (wish me luck). The reason I'm choosing LineageOS is 'coz it seems to be more popular and is ported to more devices.
Hi I own the same device as you and I flashed the RR rom to my tablet it was really easy, you need to root your device first and then install TWRP (Team win recovery project) after that follow the instructions on the rom
do you lose touchwiz and spen?
Hi,

If you are looking to use a more current rom with Marshmallow or Nougat, then yes you will lose touchwiz and probably most or all s-pen features. AOSP roms like Lineage and Resurrection Remix are based on stock android, but sometimes they're the only way to keep an old device current. Touchwiz roms are usually adapted from original firmware or ports from similar devices. Since this device stopped receiving updates at Kitkat, the most up-to-date touchwiz roms you'll find for the Galaxy Note 8.0 will be Kitkat.

Downgrading from Oreo back to 7.0 Nougat

So, I currently have a samsung s7 active that I purchased used, unlocked but was using AT&T with the AT&T firmware on itat the time. I upgraded it to Oreo universal firmware
It's currnet running info is
Baseband: G891AUCS5CSB1
Android Version: 8.0.0
Samsung Experience version: 9.0
Android security patch level: February 1, 2019
How would I go about downgrading back to Nougat but the Universal firmware?
I'm quite new to the android system, and all the guides seem to have different steps to use and there seems to be a million firmwares for each version.
I was looking at the thread linked here, and there seems to be 3 of the same firmware that are all different somehow???
What would be the best, easiest, and quickest firmware to use and guide to follow? I want to go back to Nougat with the universal firmware and my phone to remain unlocked of course
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!
the problem with this dam phone is the locked bootloader! snapdragon samsung sucks... PLUS it was exlusive to ATT
such a shame. a phone with an AMAZING camera even today and the BEST design for its time... only to be locked to AT&T, LOCKED snapdragon and really ****ty stock software super lame
because of this I'm not sure the thing can be downgraded
Hello, is that the case then? That the S7 Active can't be downgraded back to android v.7 Nougat ? I'm hoping that it can, as AT&T just forced the v.8 Oreo into my S7 this morning, and now I no longer have the very useful 'Usage Manager' app. =( I used it more than any other app, to enable/disable mobile data on the fly, and kill all running apps in background, etc etc.
Please let it be..... downgradable !=(

Need to know if I can downgrade Sprint Galaxy S9

Hi,
I have a Sprint Galaxy S9 running One UI Version 1.0, Android 9, Basebase G960USQS4CSC8.
I need to downgrade this phone to Android 8 in order to successfully record audio calls from both parties.
I tried flashing G960USQU3BRK1_G960UOYN3BRK1_SPR & G960USQU3BRJ5_G960UOYN3BRJ5_SPR but they fail.
I need to know if downgrading is at all possible and if so, what file I need to use to successfully boot this S9 into Android 8.0?
Thanks!

You cannot downgrade the bootloader
G960USQS4CSC8 << Version 4
Flash an equal or higher BL version firmware
Thank you for the reply.
So I cant downgrade the S9 I have to Android 8 due to its Baseband version being 4...
Looks like I'll only be able to downgrade/upgrade the firmware using an Android 9 Firmware version, Not Android 8.
That really sucks.
Does anyone know what Android 9 version works with Call Recording applications?
Is this something that will eventually be fixed or this is how it is/deal with it?
Thanks!

Smt-700 8.4" need help going to lineage please

Hello I am on 5.0.2 now and managed to root and get twrp on there with success. I am trying to go into the latest version of lineage and after countless error 7 from twrp, I believe that I need to be 6.0.1 . Now where I am lost and need help with is really knowing what firmware I will need to get to 6.0.1. Will I be able to root any 6.0.1 firmware I choose or is their a particular firmware that I will need for the U.S region. Also being that this is a fairly dated device I see lots of previous development and many root versions from cf-root to king root. I am comfortable with both options and familiar with odin. I just need to know really what Marshmallow firmware do I want to use for my device and if there is a particular one I should use and whats the best way to root 6.0.1 . I would love to be able to run Lineage 14.1 but after hours of downloading software at 300kb I practically gave up to figured I will try again so any guidance would be great. Thank you

Which version of Android ? 4.4 or 5.1 for mtcB/C ?

I recently had to learn a lot about my old headunit because it suddenly did not boot.
I tested both Android 4.4 and 5.1 on my car stereo. But many links are disabled
I currently have ROM 4.4.4 of the rooted version of malaysk and it has a good speed, but some software no longer supports Android version 4.4.4 like waze
Some users have said that by installing the rooted version of Android 5.1 and removing a series of default programs, the ROM speed will be adjusted and maybe even faster than Android 4.4.4.
I have now found three versions of Android 5.1.1:
1- Factory version 5.1.1
2- custom version of malaysk user
3- Custom version on another site called booroondook
I installed the factory version and the speed was slower than version 4.4 and it was slower when opening the software. The amount of memory available in this version is low and with the installation of several software errors can be seen filling memory.
Using rooted versions increases the available memory as well as the ability to delete additional programs
Are custom 5.1 ROMs faster than the factory and good stability?
If yes, which ROM?
And finally, did anyone like me have the problem of not connecting to the iPhone 12/13 hotspot in version 5.1 of Android or not? Because this problem does not exist in version 4.4. ...
I tested the custom ROMs 5.1.1. There was a problem not connecting to the iPhone 13 hotspot in all ROMs.
Finally I installed ROM 4.4.4 micro g version
Very good speed
Increased internal memory
Beautiful appearance
Rooted
No problem connecting to iPhone 13 hotspot
Very light Of course,
in version 5.1.1 the malaysk ROM was faster But there is still a radio problem in ROM 4.4.4 ، 5.1.1
