Question A72 keeps restarting - Samsung Galaxy A72 4G

Am I the only one with this problem
My A72 stays in a bootloop i already hard reset & flashed the phone
Any solutions?

Sounds like a hardware failure. Try pulling the sim and SD card.
Is it still under warranty?

Yup think so to
Cpu issue
Not under warranty anymore
But no worries still got another A72

If it is hardware it may be a loose connector. Is the battery known good? Li's can fail at any time; it may not have enough power to boot.
If it is the mobo a custom rom may bypass the damage. If all fails you have a parts queen...

Yes it is I have the 256GB /8GB RAM version running on android 13
Very quick no stutter at all

If reboots on first samsung boot screen(bootloader logo) while charger connected its probably RAM failure.

How can I fix it?

If it's a ram chipset replace the mobo.
It's not a easy repair except for shops that are very specialized. The ram is a BGA form factor package. While they are relatively cheap they are hard to repair successfully without the skillset and practice.

Yes you're right

blackhawk is right. If you can afford a new phone buy a new one because its an design fault , so fault will reappear after few months.
As a temporary solution you can try heating phone's back with a hair dryer.

[Q][Problem] Arc S reboots when putting down

Problem is:
Sometimes my Arc S is rebooting when I put it down.
If i'm gently release it from a max of 1cm height to a soft surface, its immediatley reboots.
Was checking the battery if it's not fitting good enough, but the problem is something else.
Looks like a hardware failure for me, maybe a micro crack on the motherboard?
Or what else can it be?

I think you are right. It sounds like a hardware problem some-where.
If your are under warranty, then take it in.
Otherwise here is a tutorial for taking apart your phone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800226

It doesn't looks like a software failure, but a hardware one.

I've got Sudden Death Syndrome... now what?

I've got all the symptoms for SDS and I downloaded the eMMC check app which says I have an insane chip. I'm on the current firmware (4.1.2), so that didn't fix it for me.
How can I contact Samsung about this issue? I bought this phone from an Amazon seller.
This app only detects your hardware. It means that even if you apply a fix this app always tells you that you are insafe...
If you have an official firmware released since February, 2013 you are SAFE.
Why do you think that you have all the symptoms of SDS?
I have similar problems with my GT-N7100 which I bought from Newegg.com last November (British unit). The phone often freezes, reboots and I believe once turned itself off. Those symptoms happen several times a day and I consider this phone to be unusable at this time.
There is no US warranty and I have no clue whether anything can be done and by whom. Is this phone reparable? If yes, which outfit can do it?

My phone is 6 months old now. It freezes and must be rebooted very often now, usually a matter of minutes. This even happens in safe mode.
I am running Perseus - alpha32 kernel, which I believe should include Samsung's SDS fix

Yeah Perseus kernel has the SDS's fix since January, 2013 so without being sure I don't think the SDS can arrive if you have this protection.
A clean installation of your system may solves your problem.
You can also try to update your firmware via OTA or Odin flash.

If you use Perseus, reckon you're safe. Does it still exhibit SDS symptoms? I wouldn't worry, you'd be better off letting it die and getting the motherboard replaced anyways.

Yes, it still has the SDS symptoms with Perseus alpha-32. I updated to Perseus alpha-36 today, but the symptoms persisted even in safe mode. I've done a factory reset and everything is okay for now, but I'm worried that it will definitely be back. I suppose I should sent it off to Samsung just to be sure?

Let it die then. Don't try too hard to prolong SDS. It's still under warranty right? You should get a replacement easily.

What symptoms have you got - if you 're flashing ROMS/Kernels then how can it be SDS. As I understand it SDS means that your phone is a brick. Just because it's freezing or rebooting doesn't mean it's SDS - could be many things

Rampant reboots and freezes are also symptoms of a badly coded app, a faulty memory card, a bug in a custom kernel, a bug in a custom rom, a dying sim card, malware, a bad flash.. You get the point

Apologies for alarming terminology. Here is the definition of SDS I've gone by:
The Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) issue is caused by a buggy firmware (low level machine code) on the emmc of devices, specifically, a 16GB VTU00M chip with firmware revision 0xf1. The phone dies when trying to write data to an affected block. Samsung has issued a temporary fix to avoid sudden death but this is not a permanent solution. It causes a device freeze or lock-up when attempting to write to an affected block. For devices which have undergone a lot of writes before the fix, the users experience persistant freezing which may last from 2min to even an hour.

My issues seem consistent with that description. I've ruled out software bugs by trying safe mode.

Exactly! According to this definition, your phone is not showing symptoms of SDS but merely demonstrating that the fix is kicking into action. Don't you think its weird calling it a "Sudden" Death Syndrome and then thinking it should have symptoms. The irony -_-

Since you said it seemed ok after a factory reset, I was thinking it might be something else. Not saying it's absolutely not sds, but as bushako said, it seems as it might as well be the protection kicking in, it has happened a couple of times for me too.
What you could try, is taking a look at last_kmsg immediately after booting after you get a freeze. If the log has no alarms or anything out of the ordinary, chances are it's the fix kicking in and blocking the bad commands sent to eMMC.

I see what you are saying. But if the prevention for SDS makes the phone unusable, isn't this just a lesser of two evils? Wouldn't this inevitably happen again and I would be better off sending this for warranty?

Using S3rx rom.
On UCUFNJ1 bootloader and modem (confirmed with T.emulator)
Are you using a stock kernel? Maybe flash back to a stock ROM to see if the phone becomes more stable.

Not sure why this is happening. If it's not due to software, could be a hardware issue.
When did the problems start? As soon as you got the phone?

Need help!! LG G4(H815) not starting

Hi all,
so here is my problem.
Day before yesterday i had a perfectly working LG g4 H815 model with s/n 511 running on firmware v20h, when i decided to root it and install some mods.
so i flashed TWRP, installed xposed and xtrememusic mod. the phone booted normally after installing these. i didn't install any modules under xposed. the phone worked perfectly for two days. however today morning it hanged while taking photo with the camera app. when restarting it got stuck at LG logo for long time. My brother(who doesn't have any technical knowledge) pulled out the battery and restarted. Again it got stuck at LG logo. thinking somthing wrong he again repeated this only to find that it didn't power on at all this time. No LG logo no notofication light nothing.
Tried charging it(although battery was aroung 60-70%), pressing power button removing the battery. still nothing. the phone is not at all powering up.
However when i connect it with USB cable with laptop, laptop makes sound of getting usb connection detected. i took it to a service centre.
the technical guy there told that IC may have been faulty. he told me that motherboard needs to be replaced. however unofficially he may try heating the IC to get it booting.
What should i do now? Is the IC really fried. had the rooting and installing mod caused it?
Please help.
PS- the phone is imported and cannot be sent back for warranty purpose.
I think you are experiencing the dreaded LG G4 bootloop. I don't think rooting or modding caused a software problem. It "may" have caused a hardware problem simply because it generated enough heat to loosen the IC that little bit that initiates the problems you are describing. I rooted and installed the stock image in Nov 2015. Two weeks ago the phone froze - restarted and then could not be booted. LG sent me a Fedex label and I sent it off. Ten days later I received the same phone back. I assume they replaced the mainboard.
You should contact LG directly. I saw a class action suit that was called off because it appeared that LG will fix this particular problem (failed mainboard) out of warranty. Anyone please correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Hi thanks for the help.
But isn't the dreaded bootloop is that where the phone is stuck at the LG logo. Mine isn't booting at all. And the bootloop problem is due to big cores or such and not due to ic?
Mine wouldn't start at all - it bootlooped once for about a split second - then it was dead
Same is the problem with me. Bootlooped twice and then its completely dead. I have tried contacting Lg UK. Lets see what they say.
Ok so i got a reply from LG and they suggested me some steps to take (which are obviously not useful as it is completely dead). however they have also told me that they are willing to help me and asked me about details of purchase etc and "whether it was rooted".
so what should i reply rooted or not? will they detect it as it is dead.

Sorry to be late on reply. I advise to not answer question whether phone was rooted. Here is my reasoning:
1. This problem is widely occuring - only a tiny percentage of people root their phones therefore question is irrelevant.
2. The problem is known to be that an IC becomes loose most likely due to heat - a better question would be - do you place the phone on a hot dashboard with GPS running while you are charging?

thanks for the reply (although late). i have already sent the phone to LG replying as no root. Lets hope they repair it without any problems.
second i didnt do anything of anysort like placing on hot dashboard or such. one day while opening the camera app it decided to just hang and later on die on me.
I hope you didn't think I was saying you might have done something that would overheat your phone such as my second example. I was trying to come up with an example reason the IC loosens. Even if you did that the phone should survive such conditions. Let's hope the replacement motherboards somehow do better. My guess is that the soldering job is fine, the problem is probably bad design that doesn't "vent" the heat from chip.

so what do you suggest after repair should i keep it or sell it? Lg g4 is no doubt the best phone when considering the value for money. no phone even twice in price comes close in camera and screen quality especially. but the unreliability of this phone has made me to consider selling it as soon as i get it back.

Well my old board was also high serial, beginning with 511
I'm going to take my chances - it's a great phone until it bootloops. I'm going to avoid scenarios best I can that could result in the phone heating up inside. That would be charging only if absolutely necessary while in my ProClip dash mount if the car is hot, using backup battery after depletion instead of charging more often etc. Thinking back I rarely put the phone into heat inducing situations - normal use results in the IC becoming loose at the 1 year mark. If mine bootloops exactly a year from now and LG fixes it again I'm an LG fan. If they blow me off no more LG.
I really regret not paying it off early and taking the $15/month deal for an S7 Edge last month

bootlooping lg g4.. please give me advice

so I guess this happens too much but I got the bootloop 1 year after I bought it, warranty expired.
called lg and they say it'll cost me about 100$ to replace the mainboard.
I don't mind paying the 100$ for it IF I can stop it from happening again
they say they'll warrant the new motherboard for only 3 month
so I was wondering is there anything I can do to stop the new motherboard to bootloop again? I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3dQdS1b0aw and he says a copper heatsink adhesive will stop the issue from happening again and I was wondering if this would actually fix it or not and is there a way I can underclock the cpu to stop it from overheating again? something like a kernal editor that can fix the cpu frequencies at lower rates? anything to make me have the guts to buy the new motherboard?
