Question IMEI 00000 - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

Hii have a zfold 4 f936b bought from eBay.
It says IMEI is 00000000 and when I insert sim nothing happens.
Any idea what are my options ? Some people say is a demo phone but it don't look like some other says the user trying to root it but failed. Obviously eBay seller won't take any responsibility
Look forward for your comments.

I waited to long can't do it now . Now my only hope it's to find a way to make this work more than using it as a tablet

when you bought the phone. was it specified in the ebay description that the phone is faulty/locked/imei probelm/etc? was it ":buy as is"? if yes, then you might be in a bit of a pickle of trying to complain/return it. however, if the description said the phone was fine and had no issues: how long ago was the purchase? if you paid by paypal, i believe you have 45 days from the day you paid to lodge a dispute.

Sorry, meant to respond but was in out of service area..
Yeah, you were ripped off... Someone has done something that has wiped the IMEI number. Unfortunately it is a mother to fix, if it can be (Might lose IMEI everytime the phone is reset).
Been years since I had to play around with that and the programs I used to use probably don't work anymore, if I even had them backed up anywhere...
Unfortunately this is the risk of buying off Ebay.

May be a demo phone, all demo devices sent to retailers have no IMEI ie 00000..
Probably snatched from a TMO or VZW and reflashed.

That's neither here nor there.
All retailers (Best Buy, Walmart, etc), cellular providers, and the rest are sent demo phones with no modems to try and alleviate the chance of a snatch & grab.
Chances are extremely high it's one of those devices.

Lol, it's not here but it's there... return it. Otherwise you have a parts queen or play Android roulette and buy a used working mobo. Or buy a new mobo.

Even your 2 imei is 000000?
because sometime the 2nd remain at that point u will use an esim
therefore, Ive been in this situation in the past and the device was mine for some reason i lost the imei.
check if ur device was rooted if it was this could be one on teh reason
I paid someone he fixed it remotely at that time it costed me 20$ .

[Q] Unique Problem With SGH-T989 Galaxy S II! Need Expert Advice!

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S II T989 off of craigslist. It was described as Brand New, and came with box and all original accessories, etc. Still had screen protectors and everything on it, so i assumed i would have no problems. I am using AT&T and wanting to unlock it so that i wouldn't have to switch carriers. I paid a pretty reputable website 25$ for the unlock code, which i received and entered as directed.
I attempted to enter my SIM and i get an invalid SIM message. I called Samsung to figure it out and they had me send them the phone. They received it and inspected it to ensure nothing was wrong. They then tested the IMEI which came back as a black-listed phone, but would not disclose the reason.
So t-mobile will offer me no help what so ever, nor will samsung. I try calling the *#7465625# number to test if the phone is unlocked, but i get an error message stating "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" and i have only one option which is force quit. I used the factory reset option a couple times to see if this helped at all, and got nothing.
I only have experience with iphones, so i really know nothing about the android OS. I've heard a lot about "rooting" and such for the unlock but it's like a whole different language for me. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. This phone has just been sitting in my drawer for the past month because i have absolutely no idea what to do.
Sounds to me like you may have bought a phone that someone perhaps filled an insurance claim on. I know I had a phone taken once and filed a claim on it and got a new one, eventually got the old one back and when a friend took it in it was taken on the spot. This may or may not be the case.
Yup sounds like someone bought a phone, Reported it lost,Kept the replacement, and sold you the stolen one. The same thing happened to me about a year ago with a HTC G2 from craigslist. You could try rooting (really not as scary as it seems) putting a new ROM then try to unlock again
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
That is what i'm assuming the case is. I've heard of friends and such running into the problem, but never thought i would fall victim to it.
Do you know where i might be able to find a rooting guide for a complete noob like myself? Step by step in depth kind of stuff? Would the fact that the phone is blacklisted cause me to get the error i'm getting whenever i try to test the unlock? Is it possible to unlock the phone for another GSM carrier even though it is blacklisted with t-mobile.
Explore all the options of getting your money back. If no good, you can always try to get someone to chqnge the imei for you, beware tho, its same illegal as changing vin plate on a car. Theoretically noone will help you, but practically, there are plenty shops selling nintendo cardridges with 100 original games in one...
Sent from my ST18i using XDA
You cannot ask on here how to fix this problem. It is against the rules, and illegal. This thread will be closed.. Just saying.
Ebay it with bad efs in the title, sell for parts, will probably get a coupe hundred for it. Don't buy a phone off frauds list unless you meet them at the retail store and have the number ran. At least then if they report it stolen you have some record of the transaction and may be able to get it UN black listed. Crappy situation that is for sure.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using xda premium
As stated, the course of action you were proposing is illegal and therefore discussing it on the forum will not be tolerated.

Hey guys,
My phone was stolen 3 days ago and I traced the location of the thief and got my phone back. Anyway, when I got the phone back the sim card wasn't working anymore and I looked more carefully at the sim card holder of my phone and it looks like it's damaged.
I have bought my phone from a guy on craigslist who had gotten this from Bell. Is there anyway to repair this? Would bell guarantee or Samsung guarantee be responsible? What can I do??
I attached a picture of the simcard holder.
Extort the dirty thief for money to fix the problem or call the cops.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I called the police and they he is not confessing and it's not a police issue atm, it's a civil issue and I would have to take him to court which would cost me more than the price of the phone....lol
Try someone else's sin on your phone. It might be that getting a new sum would be enough to bypass the problem. I had this problem with a Photon 4G and it solved the problem.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I did try a new sim card and it didn't work Anyone else knows what I should do????
Either u buy the part and fix it your self (easy).
Or buy a new one
Or get the warranty going.
Warranty, if you're not keen on fixing it yourself.
Btw, we can't tell much from the pic, except that you have a GSM nexus.

Bet the dumbass shoved a SD Card in. And then when it was found it was broken.
This really sucks. And I can't find the part. This thief is messed up for even stealing it.

I'd suggest using Samsung. They should honour your warranty since the phone is less than a year old (and their warranties are for less than year old devices. So just call them up and tell your story.
There are a few threads about this, Samsung USA will refuse to fix it if its an international device, you will have to contact intentional Samsung. If you can buy a sim slot replacement from them its extremely easy to replace yourself. You will not be able to find sim replacement elsewhere unless you buy a whole broken Nexus, individual sim slots for expensive phones are hard to find for sale. PS. From my experience every different Galaxy model has different sim slot connector and size.
Also another member from the previous post mentioned shipping his phone to a shop to fix it: hasslefreecellphonerepair.com, I don't know anything about them.
It probably was broken because the perpetrator put in a microSIM adaptor.

It was released for such a long time and not easy to find a brand new one now. It was around $250 (unlocked). And will be cheaper if u could accept a used one (actually in mint condition).
it seems there is somebody has rooted this device successfully, and he/she is selling the root tools in TAOBAO for 25 Chinese Yuan~
The seller needs the 304sh's IMEI numbers and give you the passwords of the root tools(8 digits)
the itmes page is(delete all ******):

sure, the author also is the one who root 306sh.
25yuan is not expensive, my 304sh has been rooted for a long time.
Does anyone know another way to root this phone? I understand that tewilove has a root and i've even paypal'd him money (I can not understand taobao), but he replied and said sorry not for foreigners... Anyone know what other avenues I have to get this done, or to unlock band 4 AWS as bennyhk has done? He also does not sell his extra band unlock to foreigners... Any help is greatly appreciated.

well, I recommend you find a friend who can read Chinese (native Chinese will be better), use taobao straight away, pay 25yuan by alipay, then all done.
if you go to tewilove 's taobao shop, you will be shocked that he can root so many sharp phones and Fujitsu phones (maybe the only one author in the world)
anybody has link to tewilove's shop I can't seem to find it, thanks in advance

Its easy to do, but FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS or it will not root. Takes about 3-4 minutes to complete. The very first thing is create a TWRP backup just in case you mess something up. My point was to help remove the shutter sound, but I still haven't found a way to do this unfortunately.
Good luck
Thanks man What firmware are you running on? I am still on 0018, after root software can't be updated (under his FAQ)? Yea the cam sound is annoying haha
Who has purchased a phone from Taobao before? Care to share the trusted seller? TIA

well I did a lot of work on my 304sh, and I can tell you directly how to delete the camera sound .
use an file manage APP, setting, show hidden file.
1./system/media/audio/ui ,delete the files with camera prefix
2./system/media/.sharp_audio/ui,delete the files with camera prefix
3.reboot, done.
Thanks for the tips, are you guys able to do an OTA update outside Japan? I am still on 0018

Yea I checked haha, its not really their fault, I think they are low on funds, Apple controls them, they have to sell a certain amount of IPhones in their contract or something haha. I have have yet to root the phone, in fear that maybe they may release a Lolipop / Marshmallow update but chances are low haha. Softbank's phones are more cheaper than their DoCoMo variants though.
On a side note I really love Softbank's mascot, a Hokkaido Inu, again they only leave the best for themselves, Japan pure breeds are very rare and hard to get. The American Akita is not even recognized, by the Japan Kennel club haha. They mentioned they spoiled their breed.
Here is the a pic of the cute gal dog, I think its our phone in the picture too haha

If it were stolen and "blacklisted", I doubt the device would be working fine.
Unless "blacklisted" is only effective for use in the USA, as Google suggests.
Google:
............... Blacklisted phones can’t be used in the United States, but some companies can unlock them for international use.

Mine is a Verizon phone purchased form UAE, it also shows blacklisted but it works just fine. I receive monthly updates without any problem, even adb sideloaded android pie full OTA when it got released. Main issue with mine is that I cannot unlock its bootloader so obviously can't root it but i believe you can unlock yours and root it.

If it's working and it says it's blacklisted, it's probably a U.S. only thing as Google suggests.
Clearly someone managed to get Google financing and stopped making payments. So no, you didn't buy a stolen phone. Anyway, the blacklist carriers use here in the United States is only effective if the phone itself is in the US. In your case, where you are in Pakistan, the device will work normally even though it's blacklisted.
For a period of time there was talk of every carrier worldwide using the same blacklist, which would really ruin your day. As of now, obviously nothing has come of it.
Generally a IMEI will only be blacklisted in the country it was reported stolen.

The seller claims he cannot trace it
Its a stolen Phone or registred as such
hold volume down + power to force shut down the phone and then quickly do the recovery key combo / download mode combo before it reboots
This does look like a stolen phone and should be returned.
One of the hazards of buying second hand phones etc.
If you bought it through somewhere like ebay then claim the money back. If you didn't then it's a case of buyer beware and need to chalk it up to "you live, and you learn"
Rule no. 1 dont trust e-bay for used electronics
Rule no. 2 dont buy used electronics without seeing with your eyes.
Been dealing with used phones for almost 5 years, never had any issue.

If i were you, i will request refund and return the phone to seller.
If you are past the return dates, i would pop in a simcard and keep the phone charged.
Then lodge a police report saying you got scammed buyingthis suspected stolen phone.
When the original phone owner come knocking on your door, you have the police report with your intentions stated to protect you from legal liability, and just return the phone to the owner.
Or.. still the phone for parts

no solution
hello everyone, today ebay stepped in and said i can no longer get my refund because its more than 30 days since i opened the return case,
since this phone is stuck with me, i know the screen can cover some of my losses, but i really want to know if there is another solution to this
thank you
As already stated, this is most likely a stolen phone that's been resold. Next step would be a police report and making sure it finds its way back to the rightful owner (or simply just handing it over to the authorities).
Keeping it and/or selling it for parts when knowing it is most likely stolen is morally ambiguous and in many parts of the world likely illegal.
This thread has run it's course, so I'm closing it now.
