Xiaomi 10T Pro bootloop – possible to save data? - Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I have a problem with a Xiaomi 10T Pro. It is in bootloop. The reason for that is unknown (it’s a friend’s phone). The phone settings are basically all standard, meaning the bootloader is locked, stock recovery and stock OS. I can access recovery and fastboot. Safe boot and repair boot out of recovery does nothing. It is just showing the MIUI logo as during the normal boot.
Is there any way to copy the data of the phone (photos would be enough)?
I read about flashing just the boot.img of the firmware but I don’t know which version is running. I am assuming the newest one that come with OTA updates.
I also read that some people wiped the data in recovery (only full wipe possible in stock recovery) and then used some android data recovery software to recover their data.
Not very satisfying options. I would really appreciate a different way. Any ideas?
My first idea was to boot into TWRP but because of the locked bootloader this is not possible.

Note that this may be a hardware problem.
As the bootloader is locked, you can only try to erase the data and see if the phone restarts, which is not certain and then try with recovery software, also not certain.
Or before erase the data, this tool:
https://www.xiaomitool.com/V2/
Choose "my device is bricked"
Also without warranty.

I have Ur same exact issue xD been like that for months

Thank you for your reply.
I haven’t found a different solution yet so despite the fact that this method is not certain I guess I’ll try it in the next couple of days. Before that I’ll also give this Xiaomi tool a try.
Do you know some good data recovery tools that I could use if the device will boot?

[help] [oneplus3] [stuck in boot logo] [softbricked] cannot boot into system [solved]

Hey boss., after flashing open beta 12, the phone started hanging now and then. I tried to contact oneplus forums and they asked me to send the log files. Since they took too long to respond, I went to oneplus service centre. They flashed my phone with old oxygen os and the phone didn't start. It went into bootloop
Then I asked them, they said motherboard is corrupted. I left the place and I requested online customer support from oneplus. They too flshed and concluded the same. Can I know whether flashing/sideloading openbeta created this issue? If so, can you provide me support to avail the warranty on the phone? or recover it via any other method or process?
Please respond as soon as possible. My communication with the world has become limited after this issue. I hope there is some sort of support.
Also note that, the phone can boot into fastboot mode, but bootloader is locked. It can boot into recovery. I tried wiping everything, but the phone is not rebooting.
When I start the phone, it stucks in the boot logo and after a while, the screen becomes blank and a white color notification LED is glowing.
Kindly help me.
i had the same issue last week after updating to 13..and i tried to flash the black theme..it went black..i had nothing....it was like it was bricked... here's how after many failed attempt's..i had to clean out all files including backups.wipe data i had to wipe system i had to clean out all previous files.from TWRP recovery.then i had to download the latest software release then put the zip file in my phone storage not in the download file ..then i had to flash stock recovery.then install the new system..and i made the mistake of trying to use some of my app backups like for one estrong file ..all of them were corrupt.so start fresh.
You might try this unbricking method:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-3.452634/
Though your device isn't hard-bricked, this would reset your device to the absolute factory settings (watch out, your data will be erased) on an older OxygenOS version.
I would recommend the 2nd Method, as it restores all partitions to factory settings.
I might also know where your issue came from:
Though you can flash the Open Beta (or any other ZIP from OnePlus) through the Stock Recovery, OnePlus states that you need to be on an unlocked bootloader for not bricking your device.

You might try to unlock your bootloader (There are giudes to do this) and flash a OxygenOS package from oneplus.net through the stock recovery, to ensure the firmware is OK (Do a factory reset from recovery!). I don't know if the Unbrick Tool only restores corrupted partitions or all. It might have installed the wrong system over your previously installed firmware if only corrupted partitions are restored. Keep the bootloader unlocked to be on the safe side (After some time you will be able to just ignore the boot message and you have better access to fastboot and recovery)!
Also, GG to OnePlus for (fake) Motherboard corruption!
About warranty:
Warranty should be ok as long as you won't do hardware modifications (I think).
Bootloader unlocking is definitely safe

No, reflash the OxygenOS package of the same Version that is installed by the Unbrick Tool (If you can still get itfrom oneplus.net) and then check if Network does work. Also, check your IMEI.
I think you might have a corrupted EFS partition. That's y you don't have a working network. Check whether your device show a IMEI under about phone.

EFS doesn't have an effect on WiFi.
That's why I think that it is a firmware issue
I think, I have solved it guys. I'll let you know once completely under control
So, Thank you very much for your support. With this little support from you and my previous Foresightedness helped me restore the phone.
So just in case if any one else faces the same or similar problem, this is the process:
STEP0: If there is any partition corrupted, the device don't boot properly. And, The customer care/ sevice centre guys state it as motherboard problem. Donot Panic. Always take TWRP backup whenever you change your ROM. This Backup helps you to restore whenever you're in trouble. In this particular case, ESF backup is required. So, take a complete backup (everything) in TWRP, it saves your ass.. keep the backup in your PC or any safe Storage (the complete TWRP Folder which is in Internal Memory) before flashing any custom ROM.
Step1: Follow method2 in this guide: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/g...plus-3.452634/
Step2: if everything is alright, its done. Otherwise, The device boots up with some missing features and details. At this time, you have to unlock the bootloader. See The forum to know how to do it. Basic searching can give you the method.
If you can transfer the TWRP folder from PC to Phone, it's good. But the phone boots itself because of missing firmware. Even Bluetooth couldn;'t be used.
In my particular case, I couldnot copy from PC to mobile or viceversa. So, you cannot copy back your TWRP folder in this situation.
So, Unlock bootloader. Then reboot to system (without doing anything)
Step3: Reboot to bootloader and flash TWRP 3-0.2 version only. otherwise device will be encrypted.
Step4: download Ressurection Remix ROM version : ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.7.4-20161113-PUBLIC-ex-oneplus3 or you can experiment with any other custom ROM but only android 6 (*Marshmallow). Also make sure that you have universal adb drivers. install them if not (search in the forums.)
Step5: goto TWRP recovery, in this, goto wipe option. Drag the swipe to wipe button here. (normal wipe).
Step6: Now, in advanced options, select adb sideload option and select the two wipes in the next menu. Start ADB sideload in the TWRP.
Step7: Now, Start the adb sideloading the custom ROM from your PC. You donot Require Gapps for transferring a file. So donot flash Gapps.
Step8: After the sideload is complete, reboot into system. Now you can transfer files between phone and PC. Now, Copy the Complete TWRP folder into the internal memory. A pop-up asks for merging the folders. Allow the merging, even if you have another TWRP backup there. They don't overlap.
Step9: Now, Boot into TWRP and restore completely. The phone boots up properly, this time. Everything works as expected. every mysterious problem is solved. Now you will get update request if you are on previous version of OOS.
Last but not Least: Please do not use any app recovery tools. they may cause issues while following the above steps
Thank to every XDA member, helping us save the time and money we spend at service center.

Yes, boss. The EFS is corrupted. But, thanks to TWRP, it also has the option to backup EFS, modem. SO, I used my old backup from Jan2017 to restore it back.
But, TO place TWRP back in phone, the original OOS3.1.2, even after reflashing didn't support. I thought for a while and flashed the All loved RR (MM) . THen, it gave me the scope to t/f the folder to internal memory.
Now, I restored the EFS , Modem, sytem with data. and hell yea!! the phone is back to life.
Complete Backup, Atleast once for 3 months saves your ass..
I am glad it helped. That's the power of Xda.
My OP3 is stuck on the boot animation only while booting up Oxygen OS. At first I thought it was bricked but as I proceeded I found out that it isn't and i'm able to boot other OS on it. I've had Resurrection Remix which I had no problems flashing whatsoever. But I'm having this problem with Oxygen OS. Has anyone experienced this? What do I do? Please help.

Oneplus 3 Bricked - Unbrick doesn't work...

Hello guys,
my Oneplus 3 is hard bricked, I tried the methods in the Mega Unbrick guide, my device already gets shown as Qualcomm 9008 ... in Device Manager, so I started the MSM DownloadTool and it flashed anything without errors. But when the phone reboots I get a black screen and the white led is on.
I can't even boot to stock recovery (Volume down + power doesn't work and rebooting to recovery through fastboot doesn't work, too....) my bootloader is locked and all attempts to unlock the bootloader are failing with the error "remote: oem unlock is not allowed"
So at the moment I'm stuck in fastboot and nothing else works -.-
Can someone please help me?
The unbrick tool has an old firmware, can I replace the files with files from a newer firmware?
Thanks!
Have you tried the exact steps from Method 2? Maybe unzip it? If that doesn't work which is highly unlikely then there is not much you can do.

Yeah I tried it as I said, the MSM DownloadTool showed me Completed and the phone tried to boot up after that.
I'm now contacting the OP Customer Support, I've read a few times that they have other files to unbrick the phone with the MSM Tool.

Ye thats the only thing you can currently do... May i ask what you have done how did it get bricked?
I just updated AICP ota and after flashing the update my phone didn't boot up. The screen went black immediately.
So I thought that it is maybe a Problem with the ROM and I tried to go back to stock.
Flashed the stock recovery and locked the bootloader, but I couldn't boot to the stock recovery.
There it started...
Switch off the phone, connect usb ,open unbrick tool full ( method 2),Press vol up,down and power buttons same time ,tool will recognize phone then start , you must unbrick now.
NEVER LOCK YOUR PHONE.

Never but never lock your bootloader...
If recovery, boot or system partition is modified. There's no harm in re locking otherwise..

I'm assuming your device is OnePlus3 and not 3T
Okay. Firstly give a try to Oneplus3 openbeta Nougat special edition.
Oneplus3 : http://downloadmirror.co/Wa9/O2N_OBT_15801_OXYGEN_SIGN_wipe.zip
Method 1 : specific recovery for open beta24 available in Oneplus downloads
https://downloads.oneplus.com
Find legacy roms and find openbeta 24
Method 2: latest TWRP
If your bootloader is locked this isn't gonna work. But if it is still in unlocked .
Download TWRP for Oneplus3 from official TWRP site
Flash the recovery you choose using fast boot.
Now using asn command, try to flash the special edition.
Mostly this solves your issue. It helped me.
Let me know whether you face any issues.
Note: in this method you may lose every data you have on the phone. It boots up (if at all ? ) with fresh firmware and fresh storage (sometimes)

The file I gave link to is a special edition by Oneplus for Openbeta-Nougat. You can go to Nougat from any rom.
Rom: http://downloadmirror.co/Wa9/O2N_OBT_15801_OXYGEN_SIGN_wipe.zip
Specific recovery should be downloaded from Oneplus website.
You can sideload using adb or store internal storage and flash.
I tried with latest TWRP recently and it worked.
Note that all your data gets wiped if you use oneplus-recovey and asn sideload

Simply reboot to recovery and say yes to wipe every data.
Note1:
all your internal data is wiped in the method I suggested. I can recall there is a method to recover data only if bootloader is unlocked. If your bootloader is locked there is no other way.
Note2: your data will be formatted to f2fs file system. If you want to flash any custom ROM, YOU SHOULD CHECK COMPATIBILITY WITH F2FS in that ROM forums.
It's better to always have EXT4 file system. You can change this file system with TWRP

Mi Max Stuck On Mi Logo and Bootloop

Hi Guys. I have a problem with my Mi Max 32/3gb. After OTA update it stucks on bootloop while the boot loader was locked and unrooted. I tried every method found in c.Mi.com and xda websites. nothing helped me to overcome this problem. I could enter to fastboot and also EDL modes, I also opened the back cover to remove the battery and shorting the test points but no luck. In fastboot mode I got error because the bootloader was locked, while in EDL mode I could successfully flash the fastboot roms including Ch_Dev, Ch_sta, Glob_Dev, and Glob_sta, but after turning on the phone, it shows bootloop again and again. But on time accidentally my phone loaded on boot and came alive (I don't know how!!). this time I first signed in with my mi account and applied for unlocking bootloader, then factory rested the device to see if it boot-up again or not. unfortunately it again stucked on bootloop. After unlocking the bootloader, I tried recovery roms using mi PC suite beta (Chinese version) which got error says something like your bootloader is locked (but it is not), Also I tried loading recovery rom using TWRP which the procedure stucks at "package_extract_file took 00s" for about 60mins and nothing happen. the only differences between all of these methods is bootloop at MI logo, bootloop at Mi logo and android logo with three blinking dots, freeze at MI logo, and freeze at Mi logo and android logo with three blinking dots. Any Idea?

Thank you for your reply. Tried before but not helped.
I can flash fast boot rom successfully in Fastboot and edl modes using Mi flash tools beta and also Mi PC suit without any error, but the phone cannot boot and still freeze at mi logo and some time bootloop. Flashing recovery rom is not possible in recovery mode even using TWRP and Mi PC suit, freeze in the beginning of flashing. How can I check to see if all necessary files of fast boot rom were copies to memory? I thing some thing force memory to lock especially in recovery mode!!!!
Any idea?

OP3 bricked and now won't boot after MSM

Few months ago I flashed some stuff on my phone which I shouldn't have, I guess. In the meantime I got a new one but now I'm trying to recover my OP3. I tried all sorts of MSM tools, (from Marshmallow to latest Pie that OP support provided me with) and in best case I could get it to bootloop and then throw me a dm verity warning screen after that (screenshot below) After that it only can throw me in a generic chinese OP recovery which fails to do anything. MSM runs fine, loads up as HS 9008 Qualcomm device and gets it's job done in 5-6 mins. I can't do anything in fastboot since bootloader is locked after MSM. Is there any help because it seems to not be completely dead?
Thanks

If you can get to bootloader, download and flash OOS 5.0.6. If not, try one of the MSM Tools on XDA. There are quite a few of them, search. Please also note that the Tool is different for 3 and 3T.
I had used one of the oldest Tools here on XDA a couple of times without any hiccups.
Did you get a solution to this? I am struggling with the same issue.
Another OP3 user here with the same problem as you guys.
I tried all of the MSM tools posted here, with no success and varying responses from the phone.
One of them does let me actually boot to recovery, but it's the generic one that only has install from adb (and sideloading always fails at 47% - haven't found a solution around that yet either). From inside recovery, attempting to wipe cache or wipe system gets about 3/4 of the way then the device reboots on its own.
I was also on occasion able to boot to the decrypt password entry screen, but no password is valid and attempting to issue a reset from there (from Forgot password) doesn't seem to do anything.
No issues getting to fastboot or qs9008 serial mode, but bootloader is locked also so kind of stuck.
In my case, phone was working fine, but the OTA update caused a brick so I've been trying to recover it since then.
Maybe somebody else has an idea here..

Did you try to sideload OOS using adb? Try the various versions of OOS.

Thanks, yes I did. Stalls at 47%.
Also tried every version of OOS that I could find (5.04, 5.05, 5.06, etc from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/op3-collection-unbrick-tools-t3896722)
Also tried the versions from https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-3.452634/
(this one is the one that sometimes lets me get to recovery, the others don't).

If you are able to use fastboot, try flashing TWRP or atleast boot TWRP and then from TWRP flash OOS or one of the custom ROMs.
If this also fails, I am at a loss for ideas. May be you have a hardware fault.

Thanks again for trying to help.
Sadly, bootloader is locked so flashing TWRP or even booting to TWRP is a no-go.
I don't think it's a hardware fault since it was working fine before the OTA update, but I guess you never know. Damn, if only sideloading would work, darn thing...

What am I doing wrong?

I have a Redmi Note 8T (willow) - unlocked - TWRP installed - rooted with Magisk 25.2. When I try to flash a custom ROM, all seems to go well. However, after reboot, the telephone reboots in TWRP, and keeps rebooting in TWRP. The only possibility left open to me, appeared booting in Fastboot mode and flash the stock-ROM with MiFlash.
This happened on a few occasions. Yesterday, I tried https://private.projectelixiros.com...2_ginkgo-13.0-20221025-1529-BETA-OFFICIAL.zip with the same result. Sofar I've only been able to successfully flash lineage-18.1-20221024-nightly-ginkgo-signed.zip, using the associated recovery, (But with that ROM, the phone-function didnt work with an MMI-code error.) So, at present, I'm again on stockROM, bootloader locked again - unrooted - back to day zero...

You must have the firmware requested by the OP, flashed it if necessary.
See this rom below where everything is explained.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-13-official-pixelos-aosp-unified-11-09-2022.4237791/
Other TWRP/OF.

Regrettably, my telephone is now hard-bricked. Recovery and Fastboot modes also not possible, so back to stock-ROM is no longer possible either. Only a flashing screen, and - when trying to enter fastboot mode, only short showings of the word fastboot, but no response in MiFlash. I think that a new phone is unavoidable.
Meanwhile, I've tried to enter EDL mode. Troed various fastboot commands, but no response from the telefone. Ultimately, I've tried to open the backcover (in order to reach the so-called "test points"), but that's easier said than done.
Website
is pretty clear, I know where to find those test points, but I'm lacking a 'heat gun', demonstarted in the youtube film. I tried it with a hairdryer, but that proved ineffective, moreover, the hairdryer stopped working (overheating?). Still need to check a possible fuse in the hardryer. Anyway, I'm awaiting a Redmi Note 11...

But what went wrong in the first place?
The flashing instructions quoted
Flashing Instructions
Clean flash (coming from a different ROM):
• Flash recovery (links above)
• Download ROM from the link above
• Download Magisk v23.0 or newer (optionally)
• Reboot to recovery
• Format data (if encrypted)
• Wipe system, vendor, cache, dalvik, data
• Flash latest android 11 global stable firmware (link above)
• Flash ROM zip
• Reboot and voila!
It mentions "flash recovery". The only method to install TWRP that I know, is through fastboot commands (fastboot flash recovery twrp.img, after having renamed the latest twrp image file), and then "fastboot reboot" while keeping Power + Volume Up pressed.
Prior to this, I had placed the firmware-, ROM- and Magisk-files on the phone.
After installing TWRP and Magisk, I wiped cache and Dalvik.
Then, when tried to flash the ROM, apparently that was wiped too. I think that it would have been better to reboot the phone after installation of TWRP and Magisk, then transfer the firmware and rom-files to the phone, and then boot into recovery again.
Anyway, that was not what I did...
Right after installation of TWRP and Magisk, having seen that the files to be flashed, were no longer there, I tried to install the firmware- and ROM-files with 'adb sideload' commands from TWRP. The flashing process seemd to go well, but booting to system proved disastrous...
A 'lesson learned' - at least for me: do not proceed if you - for some reason - can't follow the instructions. but break off, so that you can still reflash the stock-rom!
Sometimes, flashing the firmware with the Twrp does not work and you have to flash the complete rom with Miflash.
For EDL mode you will not have the necessary authorization.
See my PM.

what brick your phone is relocking the bootloader
never do that on a redmi note 8 !
I certainly did not relock the bootloader. After re-installing stock-ROM, unlocking the bootloader was always the first action before doing anything else...

Redmi note 8t(Willow).
Anyway, even if you had done it, it wouldn't have changed anything, except that you would have relocked the bootloader, since this model is intended for the global market with roms, Global, EEA, Russian, no CN roms.
Situation at present (4-11-2022): I have succeeded in opening the telephone in order to make the 'test points' approachable and to disconnect the battery. In the 'device manager', I've seen 'Qualcom' appearing on one of the com-ports. To continue, I now have to await a 24 hours break after too many times of opening my Mi-account during earlier attempts of flashing with the MiFlash tool .
.....
Well, 24 hours later, I've come to the conclusion that my brick definitively remains a brick. Tried again and again, but each time received an error "Cannot receive hello packet. MiFlash is trying to reset status.". And that's it...
Meanwhile, I had the impression that I might have better results with the Qualcomm tool QPST. The telephone - in EDL mode - was observed in QPST Configuration all right, but the flashing with QFIL failed with a consistent error: Unable to read packet header.
I've seen many reported occurrences of this error in various XDA fora, but nowhere a conclusive remedy. I'm out of options now...
Now, I get the information that the file that I want to flash, is too large. If only there could be a smaller file, only to restore the part of the os, through which to activate the fastboot and recoverymodes...
Well, after many tries, searching for solutions for the various Sahara fails that I encountered while using QFIL, I found a solution that really worked:
[GUIDE] How to unbrick RN8 (won't boot only backlight turns on for a second) using EDL
Hi all, after lots of trial & error, I would like to share how I managed to unbrick my Redmi Note 8 original thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/need-redmi-note-8-firehose-without-authentication.4031513/ many thanks to dxD7 who provided...
forum.xda-developers.com
I could use the patched firehose file also on an older Global EEA version of the stock-ROM, and then everything worked fine... It took a while, updating the phone to the latest version, but that doesn't matter...
Well... the phone is working again with MIUI Global 12.5.5.0 (RCXEUXM).
Working, but... both IMEI's are null, therefore SIM cards are no longer recognized, which means that I can't use the dial function and can't use a mobile network. WiFi is working.
Moreover, the bootloader is locked again, but I can't unlock it with MiFlash Unlock, because this procedure requires connection via a mobile network. And without an unlocked bootloader, any possibility to root the phone, flash a repaired qcn file (with proper IMEI's), try out custom ROMs or whatever, is blocked...
Any option left? (Fastboot and EDL mode still possible).
Meanwhile, problems are solved to some extent:
Phone is unlocked, stock ROM re-installed, IMEI's are again reading correctly. Only problem remaining: network is not detected, i.e. dial-phone and mobile data not possible. Probably hardware-problem. (Tried all options I could find, but 'no joy'.)
Meanwhile, I have installed an SD card, and that makes all the difference. Tried installing PixelOS and PixelExperience: both installations problemless. Off course, still without dial-phone and mobile data. But, good enough to be confident to install a custom-ROM on my wife's Redmi Note 8T.

How to unlock without connection via a moble network since your phone lost IMEI?
I read every word you typed, and feel the mood you was at,
But in the end, a sad story.
I did flash my phone before I understood every procedure and knew how to fix or recover from it.
luckily things work as I expected.
Thanks God.

Thank you for your sympathetic response.
My answer to your question: Indeed, I don't have connection via a mobile network, and can't use dial-phone, but WiFi is all right.
When I started, trying to flash a custom-ROM, I did so with my experience of some years ago with my former phone: a Google Nexus (maguro) from 2011. Things were so much easier then, no data-encryption or whatever. As said earlier, the turning point was when I placed a cheap 32GB SD-card in my Redmi Note 8T. Now I could place all the necessary files on that SD card, which made the flashing (with OrangeFox) much easier. So, I'm not sad... The moment, my phone got hard-bricked, I bought a new phone (Redmi Note 11) for daily use. And then started learning: how to open the phone, where to find the "test points", how to get the EDL mode working, how to restore stock-ROM via EDL mode, how to restore IMEI's etc. etc. I have learned a lot, and every step was a question of try - retry - retry differently - retry again etc. But the ultimate success (with the exception of the "no network" problem, for which I couldn't find a solution) is quite rewarding. Of course, it took quite some time, but time is no problem for me. I'm retired a long time ago (I'm almost 80), so "it keeps me off the streets"...
