Question 90hz don't enable on miui 14 dev with adb/setedit - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

I tried to turn on 90Hz on my Poco f3 phone but no methods work, specifically setting the user_refresh_rate value to 90, then min_refresh_rate value to 90, peak_refresh_rate value to 90, are there any other methods?
All proofs included.

MIUI 14 definitely changed some code regarding the screen, compared to MIUI 13. The AOD is 30 Hz on MIUI 14 Dev. It used to be either 60 or 120 Hz.
Afaik 90 Hz is uncalibrated and shouldn't be used on the F3. The power difference may also be marginal. I checked between 60 and 120 Hz and it was a difference of 25 mA. I don't know about 90 Hz tho.
Also lower Hertz doesn't automatically mean lower battery consumption, it depends on the calibration of the display mode by the manufacturer:

use lsposed module called "MIUI Performance Savor"

ok i'm try this

Is there any workaround? Beside 90Hz, Galaxy Hz is not working either

D855 thermal shutdown with 4K recording

Hi guys,
I'm having the issue of not being able to record more than 4min of 4K video with the LG G3. It's what the phone was designed to do.
Config :
-Resurrection Remix 5.7 ROM (Android 6.0.1)
-Gamma kernel
-Battery profile set to "Efficiency"
-Snap Camera HDR (to be able to record 4K)
-Auto-brightness disabled / brightness set to 50%
-Screen resolution set to 1280x720 with 267 DPI
-Verbatim Pro + sdCard (minimum 80MB/s write speed)
-Brand new battery
Recording in 1080p with default clocks and voltages for Gamma Kernel results in max 71 degrees Celsius temp. Recorded for 30min. Temps and phone stable.
Recording in 4K with default clocks and voltages for Gamma Kernel results in 91 degrees Celsius temp, when phone shutsdown (91 being the Qualcom SoC thermal threshold).
Recording in 4K with 1.7GHz clocks and 850mA voltages for Gamma Kernel results in 91 degrees Celsius temp, when phone shutsdown (91 being the Qualcom SoC thermal threshold).
I'm thinking of :
-Using thermal paste (Gelid GC Extreme; ceramic paste; 3rd best in the world) but I don't really wanna do this step.
-Putting thermal throttleing back so it downclocks when it reaches 60 degrees
-Downclocking the hell out of the CPU and GPU but that kind of defeats the purpose of 4K video recording.
What do you guys think?
Thermal mod for me. Have done it myself and never had a problem ever since. This plus a custom kernel that supports undervolting.

So, thermal paste or heatsink?
When you say you never had a problem since, do you mean with 4K recording or gaming / browsing etc.?
Everything else besides 4K recording works fine. No heat issues. 4K is the only thing that kills the phone.
I disabled "Core control" in Kernel Auditor and enabled "SoC throttling". 4K recording lasted for 6 minutes but still reached 91 degrees and phone shutdown.
I'm going to try and go for the GPU underclock. My phone resolution is set to 1280x720 so not much effort is being done by the GPU.

S20 FE has a secret 96hz display refresh rate - Here is how to enable it

Hi All,
Seems like Samsung has added some trick to their brand new S20 Fan Edition device, as previous S20 series devices.
= Galaxy S20 FE has a hidden 96Hz display mode=
With this 96hz hidden option you can restrict the adaptive refresh rate to work to 96hz allowing your phone to prolong battery life.
https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s20-96hz-refresh-rate-mode/
https://github.com/Made-With-Fingertips/Dynamic-Display/releases/
https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/sszb.s20.refresh
Also, seems that Samsung allows to change both refresh rate and screen resolution using Bixby Routines.
I am checking if these is true or how. But if someone knows better step-by-step how to, please let a comment and i will update this thread.
[{id=1, width=1440, height=3200, fps=60.000004},
{id=2, width=1440, height=3200, fps=48.0},
{id=3, width=1080, height=2400, fps=120.00001},
{id=4, width=1080, height=2400, fps=96.00001},
{id=5, width=1080, height=2400, fps=60.000004},
{id=6, width=1080, height=2400, fps=48.0},
{id=7, width=720, height=1600, fps=120.00001},
{id=8, width=720, height=1600, fps=96.00001},
{id=9, width=720, height=1600, fps=60.000004},
{id=10, width=720, height=1600, fps=48.0}]
How to use:
Ensure that you are running in FHD+ or HD+ resolution (QHD+ does NOT support 96 or 120 Hz, only 48 Hz and 60 Hz)
Install the APK onto your S20
Launch the app; if you see a warning dialog "This app was built for an older version...", just click "OK" and ignore it
Grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission to the app using ADB:
adb shell pm grant com.ray.customrefreshrate android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Tap on "Check Permissions"
The main UI should show, with the current refresh rate selected
Tap on any of the desired refresh rates to change to; it should apply immediately
Open up your web browser and go to testufo.com to verify the new refresh rate is in effect.
everyone says it is working. check and comment.
cheers.
and a BIG THANK YOU to DEVS who made this possible through all their hard work and dedication!!
This was the first thing I tried after setting up my FE. But upon testing it only changes the refresh rate to 60hz.

hi,
how you set it up?
meaning: did you used Bixby Routines to have medium power saver on with High Refresh rate?
then, did you used the app to setup the refresh rate default from 120 to 60 and then change the aps you need to use 96hz refresh rate?
cheers.

No. I just installed the app and selected default refresh rate to 96.

find here the steps to set it up.

This does not work. Attempted to give permissions via adb. Still testufo site shows 60fps when you select 96hz.
Selected standard and high refresh in settings and selected 96hz on either setting. No dice.
Is there a reason they don't offer it for power saving purposes? Why is it 60 and 120 only

No, it does not.
I have the S20 FE 5G (Snapdragon) version here bought in germany from Samsung Store.
I used adb dumpsys display
It has only 60 or 120hz and also only FullHD+ resolution, not even HD+ but that is normal when the panel only has FullHD+.
So sadly this means your App does not work.
But I found a way to automatically switch between 120hz and 60 hz.
I use a Bixby routine to switch to standard refresh rate (60hz) when chosen apps are open.
This is working fine and changes the refresh rate automatically within 2 seconds after app opening/switching/closing.

Is there a way to activate it since it's only software wise? Or is this something only Samsung can do if they decide to patch it in as a hidden feature like the other S20s?
idk.
But the S20 FE has a different Panel then the S20 series.
So I dont think the panel can handle 96hz
Is there a way to enable quad hd resolution on this phone or this panel is not compatible?
The adb permission is not working I get a error message in adb
Thanks for the app, anyway I don't think the battery saved with 96 Hz would be so great
This app and any 96 Hz mode will never work with the S20 FE (5G) as the panel does not support it.
I already wrote this in post #8.
Has anyone tested this app? Does the compatibility check does not allow to change the refresh rate?
I checked the source of the app and I think that I can add S20 FE to list of allowed device. I don't own this phone (yet), so someone else will have to test.

Not working, tested with snapdragon version
it works for s20 fe 5g?
No.
Look at Post #8
I tried this over the weekend, unfortunately it does not work for 96Hz. I granted the perms through ADB enabled it through the option list but while verification it shows either 60Hz and 120Hz

Probably because 96hz will not synchronise properly with the screen (it supporting 120hz, 96hz is divergent)
, causing flickering, screen tearing and touch issues.

¿How To Force 90 hz Refresh Rate in All Apps?

Hello, I want to know how I can force the 90 hz refresh rate in all apps and games since in certain apps and games the 90 hz does not remain constant. For example, I wanted to play pubg mobile and it was played at 60 Hz, even with 90 Hz active, something similar happens on YouTube. and many other apps. Anyone know how you can force 90 hz whether with a root method or not ...

it depends on the app, if an app was not designed to run at 90hz, it will not use the 90Hz screen...
Also depends in compatibility, some apps were designed to run 90hz on high end phones with powerful processors (which is the case for PUBG) but will not do so on mid tier SoCs

Maybe, but i tell you something. I had a mi 9 and I overclock the screen to 84 hz, all the interface was smooth. I think is not an apps issue. i think is a system cap... Because I can a 90 fps or 84 fps in pubg mobile with a hex editor trick. And here because of that I cant do it..

Fix FPS to 120 always

Is there anyway to mod MIUI in Mi 10T to fix FPS to 120hz always?
Have you found any way to do it?
Games that are locked 60 fps (like in emulators) play horribly stuttery in 90 and 144 hz. They play ok in 60, but the touch screen response is very laggy at that refresh rate.
120 hz would maybe fix the issues (being double 60 maybe i could use some tweaks inside emu app to make it all smooth).

Question Is there any way to get dynamic refresh rate?

The battery drain is quite high and there's no option to automatically switch between 60 and 120 hz. Pretty bs
No, but the galaxy max Hz app
exactly, no official option, but the galaxy max hz. This thread: link
I used maxhz but I stopped. It works nice but there is reason why Samsung didn't implemented that. Screen in low brightness have slightly different colors in 60Hz and 120Hz. As result I stopped to use maxhz and I use 60Hz permanently

You can notice that on some colors. For me that was visible for example at AccuBattery green. I will make second try on that, maybe that was placebo after reading some posts about that ^^
Okay, so I checked it again and still didn't see any difference on AccuBattery icon. But this time I saw very, very little change in gray colour. It changes its brightness a little.
