Redmi Note 8 battery problem - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Hi hi :>>
after 4 years and still counting of using my Redmi Note 8 I finally decided to change it's battery but i've encounter this problem that my phone now doesn't charge my Redmi Note 8 to fully 100% and it sometimes goes off around 20% or so like it's drain but if I connect a charger for literally few seconds and open my phone it opens up and continue the 20% or so battery charges where it shuts down.
note... once it goes off and still has some percentage left it won't boot up like it's really drain but if a connect a charger for a second and then opens it, it will boot up and continue the battery percentage where it lefts off.
any solution to this? or how to i calibrate my newly installed battery on my phone?

reboot to recovery and go to data/system and delete
battery-history/battery-saver folders and batterystats.bin
if problem persist that's a bad battery

[Q] Battery drop after reboot?

I've been experiencing huge battery drops (from 10% up to 20%) after I reboot my phone. Is this a KitKat issue or is it my battery?
In the morning from 99% (after checking a few messages in the morning), I rebooted and I dropped 11% to 88%.
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one. :good:
I didnt found it on reboots, but i have this problem when i enter recovery. 20 minutes in recovery - i dont hace 20% of battery.

Hmmm that's strange.
I've noticed it usually drops more when I leave my headphones in.
full loaded ACE 2.
reboot cost u 5%
first 10 % gone in a few minutes for heavy users and in a few hours when deepsleep !!
what i wanna say.
the first 10 % gone in a few.
after that normal drain.
I often get this, although not as bad. I usually lose 2-5% on a reboot, sometimes up to 10%. The other week I charged it to 100% when it was off, turned it on and had 92%.
so is this actually a problem or is it normal for everyone?. Mine looses 5-8% in the first couple of minutes after I unplug the charger..
It's normal.

Same experience. Around 5% to 10% is lost during my reboots.

Its normal. I usually lose the first 5% of a full charge in a couple of minutes. After it gets to 95%, battery charge will drain normally depending on usage.

ok then, thanks...I just thought that this didn;t happen when I was on GB, but it doesn;t matter anyway..
If I reboot once, I will lose between 5 - 10% battery. However, if I reboot straight after the first reboot, I will lose between 0 - 2% battery. I've never really understood this.

Phone need more energy for reboot, that causing the drain. Mine usually drop 2-5%. After recharge battery alsi drop to 95-92% fast. Thats normal

Battery Charging Issue
Is this normal?
When I charge my battery whether it be from mains or USB computer it charges ok, but as soon as it gets to 100% it still says charging for a little time and doesn't report the unplug charger message right away.
With the Jellybean 4.1.2 system I don't get the alert tone when the battery reaches FULL, therefore I have a feeling that when it still says charging even though it's showing 100% that it's actually decreasing power at that point, any help please?
I have tried other batteries, and one in particular goes from 90% right up to 100% and seems to miss that last 10 percent, so I don't use that one now.
I have the most current firmware installed.
Buy a new one

when it says 100%, you still have to wait for a few minutes before it displays the green "full" icon in the upper left corner and asks you to disconnect the charger.
However, the first 5-8% always drains REALLY fast and not proportionally to the rest of the battery drain...
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one.

what about the initial drain? does the first 10% still drop fast or has this changed too with the new battery?
I just wish that JellyBean 4.1.2 would give an alert sound when the battery has reached it's full limit like Gingerbread used to do.
Who would be the best place to ask them to do this on their next update?
But I think that it does..a very short one indeed, but it does, along with the screen lighting up briefly..

[Q] [Help] Battery Problem in Tab 3 7.0 (SM-T210R)

Hi, i have a problem with my Galaxy my Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, can not remember when it started, but the problem is with the Android battery indicator, this start when i left 40% off remaining battery. Example: im playing a game, stop playing and the battery is at 27%, lock the device or turn off the screen for about 30 or 40 second, i look back and indicates that there is 36% remaining battery.
Sometimes indicates remaining 15%, in 30 second or 1 minute, show 5%, i connect to the charger for about 10 seconds, and show 20%.
I have calibrated several times, change rom several times and in all i have the problem, also i have completely discharge the battery, let it charge all night off, when i turn on is at 100% and back to calibrate, and the problem persist. ( i use battery calibration)
If anyone know how to solve this, or know another form to calibrate the battery, please tell me.
Thanks
I have the same issue, mine takes forever to charge but drains fast then States different levels from high to low. I've used several roms but haven't calibrated yet and will calibrate when I'm fully charged. Since you said you have calibrated already I believe the best thing to do is back up your system into recovery then wipe and reflash the rom you're currently using it might help.

Honor 8 Pro Mobile shutdown at 2% battery

My new honor 8 pro battery empty and shuts down exactly while at 3% when i try to switch it on. It turns on shows battery 3% and gives popup battery is low phone will shutdown in 30 seconds and it shuts down. I keep turning it back on until it stopped booting to main screen till 1% and put the charge when phone off till it reaches 100%. I did it like this for 3 cycles but still it turns off at 3%. Is it common in all honor 8 pro mobiles or mine is defective. I have tried factory restore and battery calliberation using an app in playstore at 100% still phone ****sdown at 3%. Do i return this phone for replacement? And charging battery tooks nearly 2.45 to 3 hours to full charge from 0 to 100 using provided fast charger. Please reply and help me as soon so that i can go for replacement option. Is my phone is normal pr defective?

It is normal, to save the battery, phone will shutdown at 3%. we should not dry the battery to 0% that is reason behind this. But you have drained your battery many times to checking purpose, so dont try this any more, because your mobile taking more time to charge around 2.45 to 3 hours. Normally this is not the case, it will take around 2 hours. So be safe with your battery.
Do you have Honor 8 pro? Are you also facing the same kind of activity on your mobile. Thanks.

Just don't keep doing this. Don't let your battery level go that low. It will reduce the charge holding capacity of battery faster.
It's normal for the phone to turn off at 3 percent. Nothing wrong.
And if you use your phone while charging, it will take more than 2 hours to fully charge so as the phone doesn't heats up.

My 8pro shuts down by 4%. I brought to such a low level only once. Usually I do not let it fall below 20%

Thanks for all the clarification. I am clear now. I usually do not check SOT. It varies day by day but battery backup is fine so far. It stays for 20 hours with moderate usage.

Battery problems

My phone has been having less hours of screen time recently, and shutdowns when the battery indicator is at 0%, (obviously), but the problem comes when I plug the charger and it says that the phone has 20-30% of battery. I wonder there is something to fix this, and make my phone shutdown when it is really at 0% of battery.
thx in advance

firstly you have to tell these (1)how old is your device?(2) using stock rom or custom?(3)how often you charge your device?

If you haven't done any rom upgrades then you might want to replace your battery.

Question Problem with charging when completely discharged.

Hello from Ukraine guys!
Last times I have one problem with my phone.
When my phone completely discharged and power off after that I cann't charge it.
I tried different cables and power units without any success.
My phone doesn't charge after 5 or 10 or 30 minutes.
But when I go to recovery mode with battery icon on top right corner my phone charging well and I can see percentages of charge and after 5 minutes with 5% I can power on my phone without any issues. After that my phone charging very well, but if I will forget charge it before it completely discharged I have to go to recovery mode to charge it.
Anyone can help me with this strange problem?
I am using last global OxygenOS 12 C.48 with magisk (root).
Thanks.

If you already tried the MSM tool and clean flashed your device, and the issue is still happening, it seems like there is a weird "HW" issue. So, return the device if you still got a warranty on it.

Sadly i have the same issue. May i ask if you are rooted? Bootloader unlocked?
Since i am on c.48 my phone doesn't turn off when battery is too low (below 1%)
It can go at least 30 minutes in 1 % and this is not the intended functionality.
Battery needs to keep a reservoir to start charging. If it completely drains it damages itself quickly.
Another problem in my end is that c48 doesn't have offline charging (probably because of magisk).
Offline charging is a mode where the phone charges while is off and shows a battery icon.
So in my current state if my phone goes below 1% and i don't manually turn it off, it will forcefully shut down and after i plug it in it will try to turn on and shut down again unable to start the charge.
Only fix is boot fastboot mode (which uses really low power) and plug in for hours until the battery picks up some more voltage and then turn the phone on to charge normally.
Not hardware related. I have this for a while and i still get 4:30 to 5 hours SOT 100 to 1% and fast charge works ok.
Just don't let it go below 2% and shut it off until a fix comes up

Just fyi. This is a really bad practice to do regularly. Battery should not go below 15% often or it will ruin the battery life. See screeshot.
Since you have fast charge, it should be easy to charge it before going to sleep.

@Sergykm since there is no offline charging, try to never let it drain completely

Yes, mate I have unlocked bootloader and magisk and c48. My problem is absolutely the same.
It is not a big problem, but sometimes I forget to charge it before it goes offline.
I'm glad to know this is not only my problem. Hope the problem will be fix in future.
