Question Which is the earliest OnePlus model that can be unlocked with fingerprint without waking up screen first? - OnePlus 11

I want a OnePlus which I don't have wake up the display before unlocking it with a fingerprint scan.
In other words I want to be able to unlock it directly from its sleep/locked state with just one press my finger without waking up the displa first.
So, which is the earliest OnePlus model that can be unlocked with a fingerprint scan without waking up the screen first?

Agreed. My OnePlus 7T does this.

Really? Hm, thanks but it seems unlikely since in the videos I've seen, even of OnePlus 8, they always have to tap the black screen first before they unlock with the fingerprint scanner.
Like in this video for example:
Also, my friend who had a OnePlus 8 said he had to tap twice to unlock it. So are we talking about the same thing?
Or do you have to do something special to make it work directly from a sleeping display?

Obviously not, since I just wrote there is conflicting information, and also asked if there is something special one has to do to make it work.

Question about Imprint sensor

Hello xda,
I've been using my 5X for a few months and I'm happy with the device. Hovewer, there is one thing that annoys me, the fingerprint sensor, which is trying to read my fingers, when the phone is hidden into pocket, and when I want to unlock phone using my finger, it warns me about "too many tries, please try again later" (screen in attachment). Is it possible to make Imprint work only if the screen is on?
Thanks in advance.
Face your phone with the screen towards your leg. Issue solved. Your screen is less likely to break in that position if something accidentally hit it.

Yep, that's what I'm doing since I observed the problem, but then I don't see the notfication LED
PS partially solved, because I'm asking for a software hack

You can see the LED through your pants when it's facing out? Are they made from saran wrap?

No, but I'm pulling out the phone a little bit to make sure I got a new notification.
And this is going offtopic.

Anyway, it's currently not possible to make the sensor only work when the phone is on. That would require first and foremost an unlocked bootloader. Then you would need to download the kernel source (I'm pretty sure that's what controls the sensor) and modify it to do what you want. Then you would need to flash it to your device. Good luck.

Request: remove 'bootloader unlocked' warning

After unlocking the bootloader, you're stuck with a message, everytime you reboot your phone, which gives you a warning that the bootloader is unlocked. Quite annoying if you ask me, especially because it takes 5 seconds before the phone continues to reboot.
Is there somebody who can remove that warning? It's already done for the motorola G4, so I guess it shouldn't be to difficult for the OP3, as long as somebody with a little bit of know how takes a look into this issue.
Somebody here who can make this happen?
wait for this mod
so annoying
Yeah will wait for this one
Shouldnt be too hard for a dev to do. i know they did it for the nexus devices. oneplus has one fugly looking fastboot and unlocked warning. also they cant spell.

If I remeber correctly, when you are unlocking the bootloader you get a warning that it MIGHT void warranty. But I don't think that will be the case with OnePlus.

yeah other Oems like, sony samsung does avoid your warranty when you are bootloader unlocked but One plus 3 i always thought they are good to go even when your bootloader is unlocked.
It is required by Android/Alphabet as a verified device, but honestly 1+ how hard would it have been to spellcheck this screen.
I welcome a removal of this screen
Me too. The incorrect spelling drives my OCD to despair.

on the 6p. it's somewhere in the ramdisk which was risky to tinker with so nobody bothered to risk and remove it. on the other hand it's really simple with the 5x. not sure on the op3.

I'm waiting for this as well. Tried messing with it myself, but have very little to any experience in this particular area. I found where the LOGO file was, but when I copy and changed the format to IMG or BIN, it was unreadable with the two different programs I have to read those file types, so instead of messing things up - I gave up.
At least they fixed the spelling and the placeholder url in the latest update. I can put up with it now.
Unlocked and flashed cyanogen yesterday and didn't know the OP3 had this screen either....it's much worse that the N6P one but not as alarming lol it's still really annoying and I went back to a locked stock because of it.
Still at least it's not as annoying as the one they put on the Pixel C.....
+1 for this. Its really annoying. I hope it can be patched up quickly.

How often do you guys reboot your phones for this to be an issue? I'll admit the unlocked padlock from the Nexus was a bit more classy but I can't see how this is a dealbreaker when you hardly ever reboot your phone outside flashing stuff.

Just installed a new LCD display. Display works fine but fingerprint not working anymore. What could be the problem!?!??

Did you damage the ribbon cable while replacing the display? From my experience they are very delicate
From where did you bought the LCD display from? Is it bought online or sourced from your local mobile market? I'm unable to source one myself so asking for help. Thanks.
Though I don't like to mention this on here because it is an android forum I think your fingerprint sensor can't work because of hardware change problem.the hardware in the phone does not recognise the new Lcd screen when it comes to fingerprint.this is the exact same thing with iPhone Apple touch id will not work anymore iff you change the digitizer. I know this because my friend fixes iPhone screens and always has problem with touch id.something to do with hardware mismatch.

I bought it from eBay. On AliExpress there was only one seller, 160€! I waited for price drop but suddenly object was not available anymore. Then accidentally a week later saw the object on eBay also one seller, 100€. Bought immediately because was only chance..
I just looked and can't find object anymore so I think you have no chance of buying..

Well I can't confirm that the fingerprint is actually broken. I know that when you replace a iPhone screen the fingerprint also don't work anymore because the replacement screen isn't official, and for some reason there is a software conflict. Maybe here it is the same thing. Idk

[SOLVED] OnePlus 5T Hardbricked

SOLVED. MODS CAN CLOSE THIS THREAD.
Hello xda,
Yesterday i woke up and unplugged my 5T from charger, but phone wasn't working. Then i tried to power on but it stuck on Oneplus logo.(not boot animation, just oneplus splash screen and "powered by android")
Then i tried to enter to recovery for hard reset but no luck, i couldn't access to recovery mode and also when i try, stuck on bootlogo again. But interesting thing about it is, after a while the logo dissappears and screen goes black but phone don't powering off, just black screen with no notification led. I can access the fastboot mode but my bootloader is locked.
I tried:
Flashing official rom with Msm download tool.
I didn't get any errors, it flashed successfully but the phone still not working. When i try to power on, it shows oneplus logo again but after about 5 minutes screen goes black and notification light shines white. And in this position, my pc recognizes the phone as "Qualcomm HS USB Diagnostics 900E".
My bootloader is locked cause i'm not able to erase any partition by fastboot commands or can't flash TWRP.
I need your help. I'm not able to use my phone for 2 days.
Wrong thread. Sry.
Sad to know your phone isn't working, run the msm tool again and make sure its for the oneplus 5t and not for oneplus 5,

Thanks for your reply but i used the 5T unbrick tool(dumpling). But no way. Then i tried the Oneplus 5(not T) unbrick tool. Screen became reversed and weird because of resolution difference. I thought maybe i can access the recovery menu with 5's firmware but didn't worked. I followed all of the guides on the xda but didn't worked for me. I'm scaring if it's a hardware problem.

If they handle this nicely, you shouldn't be disappointed so much. I mean there quite a lot of people getting good experience with this phone. You are just unlucky. Such thing happens if you jump into other phone's forum too.

General OP9 PWM Headache with new dynamic refresh rate

Hey everyone. For anyone out there (apparently less than 10% of us) that suffer from OLED panel PWM headaches, it seems that this OP9 pro is giving me grief. I think it possibly has to do with this new dynamic refresh rate. For anyone that's unfamiliar, you basically get a carsick feeling or similar to the feeling that some of us get when reading in a car. Point of the matter is that it's no good for a phone junkie that can't put their phone down.
I never knew that this was a problem until I had an lg v35 that gave me these headaches. I've never had an iphone with oled cause the issue. Op7 pro didn't and OP8 Pro didn't either. I found that it wasn't all phones as some did it while others did not A replacement v35 didn't have the problem. Anywho, I thought to put a feeler out there to see if anyone else has the same issue.

Have you looked under Utilities > One Plus Labs> and enabled DC dimming?
The option wasn't there on the 8T but it could be toggled using ADB. Google DC dimming ADB 8T and you'll find the steps.
Please report back here as I want this phone but struggle with PWM as well. The DC dimming modes from One Plus have always helped me.

Hey there. Thanks for the reply. I was unaware of this menu and just checked. The only option available is 'Hyper Motion Smoothing'. I tried it but it makes no difference. I'm going to RMA now and attempt a replacement. It could be this panel in particular. In the past, going through a few devices (same model) would get me a screen that didn't have the issue for me. I've never had a OnePlus phone that caused the issue for me so this is a first. Bums me out.
Video link showing the flicker. OP9 Pro, right. iPhone 12 Pro Max, left. Shot on my OP8 Pro.

Hey. I ran the command and believe that it worked because it took me right to a screen prompting me to enable a feature. So I did. I'll see if it makes a difference. Do you have to reboot to initiate it? If I reboot, do you have to reinitiate?
Glad to help because if my headache goes away, yours will too.

Awesome! Thank you so much man. This is exactly what it did on my OnePlus 8T. It also persisted through reboots and updates.
You shouldn't need to do anything to activate it other than switch the toggle on.
You can film your phone with another phone and see the flicker reduce somewhat when the toggle goes on.
I've found OnePlus's DC dimming basically eliminates my headaches and reducing my eye strain to a manageable amount.
Flicker is still there when viewed from the video screen of my OP8 pro. I'll spend some more time with the phone in a few hours to see if it still give me a headache but I suspect it will. What's irritating to me is that there's no flicker on my OP8 pro (and I had two) with the DC dimming enabled or not. My hope is that my OP9 pro just has a bad screen. I'm going to proceed with the replacement through OP which I hope will be easier than it has been in the past.
So it took 2 months for OnePlus to issue my replacement OP9 pro. I got it two days ago and can confirm that it it also gives me PWM headaches. I'm crushed. I want this phone but can't use it. Sigh.... Anyone else?
