[GUIDE] How to unbrick your ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet

If you have a device which is not recognizable by the PC:
You need a 32-bit Windows (I used WinXP VMware player image from my Win7 64-bit)
In my case connecting the device to the PC did not resulted in access to the memory, only the drive letters appeared, but could not be mounted.
At the same time, the RKandroid tool did not recognize the device at all.
So, we need to reflash the archos 7ht. For this we need to enter update mode - and here is the trick:
1. Shutdown the tablet (in my case - pin reset shutdowns it)
2. LOCK the sliding button (for me this was the tricky part to find out)
3. Connect the USB cable and the powercable.
4. The winXP should detect a new USB device. Make him happy - give him the rk28usb-new drivers to install.
5. Now the RKAndroidTool.exe should be able to detect the RKandroid USB device.
Ok, if you've got this far, now we need to re-flash it. For safety, let's do this with the default Archos 7HT update image (which can be downloaded from the Archos website)
I think that the RKAndroidTool.exe needs extracted files from update.img. For this, extract them using AFPTool.exe:
AFPTool.exe -unpack update.img .
(or use the extractupdate.bat)
Now, we can finish the reflashing:
6. Start RKAndroidTool.exe.
7. If the extracted files from update.img are placed in rockdev folder and in image subfolder, the RKAndroidTool.exe should find them automatically.
8. Execute. Make sure the device is plugged to AC, because the process takes some time. IF THE PROCESS STOPS UNEXPECTEDLY YOU GET A HIGH-TECH BRICK (or so everyone says, I didn't test it).
9. You should see the device responding and starting the update process. It will take some time, dont ruch it.
~20 seconds – copy firmware to device,
~30 seconds – device firmware installation,
~3-8 minutes - First boot
10. The Archos Tablet should ask you to recalibrate the screen, and load the OS.
That's it. Good luck!

Hi,
Where should the rockdev directory be located? I can't get RKAndroidtool.exe to find the unpacked image files.
Thanks
I do not have Lock Sliding Bottom.
I have Archos Home Tablet 7 model: A101B2
Any ideas how to unbrick this device?
This is tablet of my mother in law. :-(

|GUIDE| PC Does Not Recognize Note 2

If you get the errors that state that your phone is not recognizable or the drivers on your new PC is
A. Cannot be found
B. Any other message that doesnt state "Your Device Is Ready To Be Used"
Then follow this guide
1. This is really simple and easy, CHANGE THE CABLE. Maybe the cable you are using cannot transfer data correctly or its just broken or it just doesn't like you.
2. Some have reported that using a USB 3.0 port on the PC in question may not work correctly. Try using a USB 2.0 port instead if possible.
3. Now this is what works the best if you use custom cooked roms.
-Launch the phone key pad on your note and press *#7284# (don’t forget to start with that * symbol!)
-When you press the last pound sign (#) this will bring up an option that will allow you to change your USB connection settings (modem or PDA) – change it to PDA.
-At the bottom there is a button that says Qualcomm USB. Click on it.
-In that menu click on MTP + ADB option.
-Save and reset.
-Wait for your phone to restart.
-Plug the micro USB cable to the Note 2 and the the other end to your PC or Mac
-Let your computer down load and install drivers.
-Once installing is done, unplug then replug phone.
-There should be a USB symbol on your phone in the status bar - click on it. It should ask if you wsnd to use mtp or ptp. Click MTP
-At this point your PC should open the phone’s folders in explorer similar to the screenshot above.
Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight.
i do not take credit finding all of this by my own, i used google.

Stock. 4.3
Please log on the PC with Local Admin credentials. Remove all traces of any Samsung drivers or entries from the Device manager.
Reboot the pc and connect the phone. If device identification process / wizard does not pop up, you didn't do the step above. If it does, install the drivers again. Reboot the pc if needed.

[Q] How to flash Lenovo s850 when you cannot remove the battery?

The Mediatek USB VCOM port appears properly in the Windows 7 device manager when I connect the USB cable.
After 2 seconds, the phone automatically enters charging mode (=starts charging from the USB port) and at that moment the VCOM device disappears from device manager.
Normally you would remove the battery to flash a rom but in Lenovo s850 you CANNOT remove the battery because it's built in.
Any suggestions?

I was able to figure it out.
If I plug in the phone with the Flash Tool not running, the phone will enter charging mode and the device will disappear from device manager about 2 seconds after connecting the USB cable.
But if I prepare Flash Tool for flashing (load the scatter file etc), and only then connect the phone, it will not go to charging mode, and everything works fine.

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is not seen by fastboot Windows 10 laptop

My model is Note 9 Pro 5G (M2007J17C) with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM. Apologies if I am posting to the incorrect sub-model forum and please direct me to the correct one.
I am having a problem connecting my Windows 10 laptop to my Redmi device via FASTBOOT (or the miflash_unlock-en-5.5.224.24 tool).
ADB connects OK.
My intent is to eventually replace its ROM with LineageOS 18.1 by following the instructions on https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/miatoll/install
I followed the instructions on https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html (logged in to my Mi Account). Step 1 & 2 went OK. Step 3 is where I am unable to proceed:
Step 3. Connect your phone to PC using USB cable and click "Unlock".
The Mi Unlock tool (batch_unlock.exe) is simply unable to see the device.
When the device is on (with "USB debugging is on"), ADB connects without incident.
When the device is in FASTBOOT mode, fastboot.exe cannot even see it.
I tried replacing the driver with "Mi USB Driver 2" from https://c.mi.com/thread-2273348-1-0.html , but Device Manager keeps insisting that the one that comes with Windows is the latest and refuses to pick the Mi one.
At this point I am out of ideas. What do I need to do in order to make the 'Mi Unlock tool' recognize my device?
Thank you
Problem solved. Here is how I solved it:
1. Rebooted the smartphone into FASTBOOT mode.
2. Plugged it in via USB to the laptop (same one).
3. Noticed that Windows 10 does not even display the USB icon in the SysTray.
4. Invoked Device Manager and noticed that 'Redmi Note 9' does NOT appear under 'Universal Serial Bus Devices'. OTOH, a new category, 'Other Devices' appears which read 'Unknown Android Device'.
5. Right-clicked 'Unknown Android Device' > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > pointed to the downloaded "Mi USB Driver 2" from https://c.mi.com/thread-2273348-1-0.html
6. Driver installation finished successfully, creating a new branch 'Android Phone' having a child device 'Android Bootloader Interface'.
7. Bingo! `fasboot.exe` now identifies the phone (while in FASTBOOT mode during all that time, especially during driver installation).
Bottom line: The Xiaomi official "Mi USB Driver 2" from https://c.mi.com/thread-2273348-1-0.html is mandatory and can only be installed while the phone itself is in FASTBOOT mode.
