Question From OPPO engineers: CN version of OnePlus 11 has software defects in WiFi and mobile hotspot module - OnePlus 11

Previously, I discovered that my CN version of the OnePlus 11 was incapable of turning on mobile hotspots at 5GHz or higher while connected to a 5GHz WIFI network. I promptly provided feedback to OPPO. Today, OPPO reached out to me from China to inform me that they have identified the exact problem. According to them, the issue stems from Qualcomm, and there is a software incompatibility with my location's WiFi bandwidth. As a result, the system automatically downgrades the mobile hotspot to 2.4GHz to avoid network speed interference. This underlying software issue has been communicated to Qualcomm by OPPO, but they have informed me that they may not fix it for now.
However, I have my doubts about OPPO's response. Firstly, if the issue originates from Qualcomm, why doesn't it affect the OnePlus 11 sold in Europe? (I am based in Italy.) Secondly, I attempted to activate the hotspot separately (without sharing WLAN) using other CN version phones bought from China and connected them to the OnePlus 11. I then turned on the OnePlus 11's hotspot, but the problem still persisted. During the call, I raised these two concerns, but OPPO customer service could not provide an answer.
While we are aware that the hardware of OnePlus in different regions is practically identical, I wonder if this problem is an exception to the rule. Perhaps my guess is incorrect. Moreover, I can confirm that the mobile hotspot problem, which may be attributed to Qualcomm (or perhaps an excuse by OPPO?), has also been reproduced on my friend's CN version of the OnePlus 11, who also in Italy.

One conclusion is that the ONEPLUS 11 Chinese version has many problems, intentional or not.

Do you try to flash to OOS to solve this problem?

I tried flashing OOS, but it didn't boot. . Then back to COS I found this problem. Now my phone is in transit to one plus service center in Poland, to unlock region restrictions, but I also left a note mentioning this WiFi and mobile hotspot issue, I will wait for their detection, maybe they have a tool to flash me into OOS and test or verify?

My oneplus11 cn can wifi5 + wifi5 share. Can also wifi5 + wifi6 share.
Why?
Maybe repaired? in cos A10.

They have the 16-digit key to unlock the restriction.
What is your status update of your phone now?

I got a somewhere similar issue with Oneplus 11 model CPH2451 bought directly from Oneplus US, its hotspot 5Ghz band not turning on. As a result of this, the oneplus clone phone app could not work as it kept forcing 5Ghz band. Oneplus support kept asking me to hard reset the phone however, it appeared resetting did not work.
I thought this was software related. One temporary workaround to make 5Ghz reappear (not garrantee it'd work without issue) was to switch region from where I am that is Australia to country such as India and restart. 5Ghz band did show up but this procedure cannot be replicated. Meaning if I switch back to Australia then switch again back to India, 5Ghz band would not reappear...
The onephone shipped out with Dec 2022 patch originally, I swear I saw Wifi 7 support in the Hotspot menu where it was Wifi 6 in your picture. However, when I was trying to fix the hotspot problem and after upgraded the phone to Jan 2023 patch, the Wifi 7 support was gone and replaced with Wifi 6 support.
I wonder if anyone else here had the issue or its just me?

Having issues with 802.11ac

My Note 3 is having issues holding on to my wireless connection. I have an Asus RT-AC66U running merlin firmware. It connects temporarily, then disconnects and says it disabled the network because the Internet connection is to slow. I have had 3 other 802.llac compatible devices working without problems. 2.4GHz 802.11n works fine. I'll dig in more when I get back home. Anybody else having issues?
edit:
Apparently this thing doesn't like 5GHz networks at all, and it doesn't even see ad-hoc networks shared from two laptops I have tested. I might have to get it replaced, as I haven't seen to many other people having problems. It is definitely a problem with the phone and not my network connection.

I have the same model router using stock firmware and had the same issue with the disconnects with my Note 3 while other devices were working perfectly. I powercycled my router yesterday and I have not had the issue return.....yet.

The WiFi on this phone is horrible. It says I have unstable WiFi meanwhile I am right next to the router
TWEAKED 2.5
Same issue here, I have Asus RT-AC66U and the Note 3 keeps disconnecting from the 5GHz while other devices are fine on wifi
802.11ac won't be an official finished standard until next year, so, there's still room for improvement. New firmware for an AC AP and note3 should probably iron out bugs.
I'm about ready to upgrade to the Asus RT-AC66U myself (once it drops below $180 again), from a 2-year-old Netgear wndr3700 w/ddwrt. Will probably slap DDWRT onto it as well to compare wireless performance.
I finally have some time off to do some testing this weekend so I'll see what I come up with. I did notice that sometimes the connection would stabilize if i was sitting near the router and start acting crazy when I got up to do something. I disabled the "Explicit beamforming" option in the router and did notice an improvement. The top test below is with beamorming enabled. The bottom test was with it disabled. Still dropped a little in the middle but much better than before. I toggled the setting and ran the test a few times and was able to repeat the results, though this still might be nothing. Ill report back later with anything else I find.

I am also running merlins firmware on my ac66u...I cant watch youtube videos while on wifi for some reason and also phone calls drop while using wifi calling...hopefully samsung will get the drivers straight a.s.a.p. everything else connects fine(15 devices) no problem...
Just for giggles, what's the phone ac speed? They're only doing 72 n 2.4, 150 n5. What's the ac5? Why don't they work on maxing n5 before jumping the gun.

Hello there... I just wanted to mention that i had made the jump to netgear ac1450 (ac, 2.4ghz, 5ghz) it was between that and the asus. But i picked the netgear because costco had a special sale on it, plus costco has awesome Costumer Service, and warranty in case something goes wrong... anyhow long story short, i am able to use both the 2.4 ghz and the 5 ghz without any hickups at least for now( knock on wood). although i would like more range it is definitely outdoing my linksys wrt54g which i had dd-wrt installed on both speed and range. From about 30 feet i get about 3-4 bars on the 2.4 ghz and about 2-3 bars on 5 ghz. also the signal is going through 2 ceilings. I will update if i experience any trouble, honestly i was a little worried when i received my phone because i had some wifi issues the first couple of days ( drop wifi and what not) but i haven't noticed it recently ive had the note 3 for about 2-3 weeks so far.

Interesting. Your Netgear appears to use the BCM4708 chip, whereas the ASUS uses the BCM4706. I wonder if the BCM4339 in the Note 3 is more compatible with one over the other. You would think that coming from the same manufacturer they would all be compatible. I am still running my phone through some tests, but so far it seems like there is something hardware/software related in this phone that does not like any 5GHz network I connect it to. Disabling explicit beamforming helped for a while, but the problem started happening again this morning.
just a quick update, i just flashed the latest firmware o my netgear ac1450 router which enhances/enables beamforming+ especially on 5ghz (from version 1.0.0.8 to 1.0.0.14) and i must say that my connection has improved further more its mostly on 3 bars sometimes 4 although i still seen it drop to 2 every now and then..
I returned the ASUS and ordered a netgear r7000 for a few bucks more. It should be here by Wednesday. I'll see how wifi works then, but I am not holding my breath.
RT-AC68R on 3.0.0.4.374_339 is good

FWIW, I have the Asus RT-AC68R on stock firmware 3.0.0.4.374_339. My wireless on 5GHz has been solid. I did a Speedtest last night which came back with 29.3Mbps down and 3.8Mbps up, and this was sitting one room away from the AP.
Before flashing to this firmware however, the 5GHz would never stay connected and once disconnected, I would have to access the router control panel and make a change, then exit and the 5GHz would be back. But now, on the newer firmware, it's been very good.
I am using the netgear r6300 v2 with stock firmware with no problems
I am using the RT-AC68U with AC I have no problems on my note 3. Only thing I guess you could say is a issue is every now and then the phone connects to WiFi and shows no WiFi signal but it connects and runs fine. If I reboot the phone the problem is gone. It happens like once every other week if that. I have the Comcast 300mbps down and 25mbps up connection. The highest the phone has done with WiFi is 165mbps down. This is on whatever the latest firmware is now.
Don't u have to change the SSID to make sure u are using the AC signal properly?

I also experience this issue with my RT-AC66U. I think the problem is that ASUS hasn't put in the option to set the 5GHz band as 100% 802.11ac, so if anyone else is connected it has to drop down to whatever crappy standard is before it. The current 802.11ac routers are really designed to be bridged to a second one. The insane throughput lets you create a solid high speed 2.4GHz network across a decent sized area. However, 802.11ad is going to poop on everything.

You have to chance the SSID to separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels. If you wan't guaranteed AC you'd have to only allow supporting devices on that band.
This is my two cents.
I use RT-AC66U with stock firm ware. I set up two SSIDs one for each frequency. That way if one falls over it will connect to the other connection. In My experience the 5ghz works best.
There are mixed results in this thread. What works for one does not work for another. I don't think it is the router, the Note 3 just does not play nice with Wifi. In researching Wifi problems was not tied to one router it points more to the Note 3.
Since I set up two SSID I have found it more reliable. I also use Tasker to control my Wifi and reassociate the Wifi connection.
I also found this problem to be intermittent. I have had my Note 3 since the release and did not have problems until last month. For the last few weeks it seems to be more reliable.
T-MOBILE has a trouble shooting page.
https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#j...e.jive-mobile.com/api/core/v2/documents/10033
Sent from my rooted Note 3 (N900T) using XDA Premium
FWIW, I also had a horrible time with TouchWhiz disconnecting my 5GHz wifi all the time, saying "Your WiFi is Unstable". I have a Netgear R7000 router, known for its awesome range, but still TouchWhiz complained even when I was getting 4/5 bars. Anyway, long story short: After switching to CyanogenMod a couple weeks ago my WiFi problems are gone.
e.g.: When playing GoogleMusic via ChromeCast in another room, I often couldn't even play half a dozen songs before randomly having my 5GHz connection dropped, which results in the playlist being stopped as well, and getting kicked back to the GoogleMusic "play something" screen. With CM, I haven't had a dropout yet. Soooo... clientside firmware matters, and this is something that Samsung might have a fix for down the road in their KK update.

[Q] Buying SM-P605 Advice

Hi Guys
Just looking for some advice regarding the SM-P605, the 4G LTE version. I am based in the UK and have not been able to find a reasonably priced tablet with 4G.
I went to the Samsung store in Oxford Street and it was £600, which is over my budget. I have recently seen a version on Amazon for just £429.99, which I was tempted to get. The model number is listed as SM-P6050ZKADBT, which doesn't seem to be a UK version.
I thought I had read somewhere that buying an LTE device from abroad would mean that in the UK you would not get the true speed from 4G, but cannot find that article anywhere anymore. The seller also responded to ask where I heard it from as there is no difference between UK LTE and International LTE.
Does anyone know if it is OK to buy an international SM-P605 for use on the EE network in the UK please? I have searched on these forums also and could not find a definitive answer.
Thanks

I have a SM-P605 and I imported it from T-Dimension in HK, it cost with all fees & taxes ~£465.
I then downloaded what was meant to be a BTU firmware for it and flashed it and it didn't trip KNOX , but rather unfortunately it installed itself as a Spanish one (PHE) instead.
Now whilst it's not the end of the world having a SM-P605 with a CSC code of PHE, I would rather it were BTU & no matter where I look I cannot find a stock SM-P605 firmware that will do it.
I've installed a 3 sim card into mine and it works perfectly, I've not bought one that gives me 4G/LTE access because it's pretty c**p coverage at the moment, so I don't feel that there's any significant advantage of paying extra for something that I can't get or rarely get.
Still at the end of the day I have a SM-P605 which works well, will shortly have a 128Gb SDXC card installed into it as well. But TBQH, I'm not overly impressed with the service that Samsung provides in regards to firmware updates for its devices so I'm considering moving to the "Dark Side" and getting an Ipad & Iphone instead.
Consider your purchase carefully, especially as Samsung have new devices out, which have now superseded the 10.1 2014 edition, as I severely doubt that Samsung will continue to support &/or issue firmware updates for it much longer, if all if their reputation is anything to go by.
Hi
I have just managed to find this quote also, which kind of backs up what you say
"The version advertised here is the SM-P605 P605XXUBMJ4 Android 4.3 variant which has the Quad-core 2.3 GHz CPU, 32 GB built-in memory and support for LTE bands 800, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600. It should in theory work with all current UK 4G carriers.
HOWEVER, the latest radio firmware update available in the UK doesn't appear to support LTE. When I went to "Settings...More networks...Mobile networks...Network mode", expecting to see an LTE connection mode, all I could see was GSM/WCDMA (i.e. "H+"). The best mobile connection speed I've managed so far on a 3 Mobile PAYG mobile broadband subscription is "H+" at around 5Mbps. By way of comparison, I get solid "4G" connectivity with the same carrier on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, so I don't think it's a 3 Mobile problem."
I have a 4G sim card with 3GB data allowance per month, so I am keen to use it to it's full potential, so with that in mind, I think I will give this tablet a miss. Thanks for your advice and sharing your experience.

You need to get a 4G specific SIM to get it to work, a standard mobile internet SIM won't cut it. You'll need to pay the extra to get the 4G functionality.
The 4G bit isn't worth it at the moment because the coverage isn't up to much as yet & still in its infancy, but in years time it might be better & worthwhile.

think he said he had 4g on his sim, the problem for us UK users is basically we are going to have to root the device to enable it, certainly until our providers get their finger out, which could be whenever. The way I looked at it was 'am I going to sell the tablet in the next 2 years?' if not, just root and have the benefits 6 months before they roll it out here. Samsung always been slow with updating, but then that's why people choose android, it isn't for the official stuff, it's for all the customisation you CAN do. Chomping at the bit for mine, it's an import so it's never going to be a flyer for a resale, so may as well enjoy it the next couple of years.

My 605 came from HK (T-Dimension), so like your it's an import, so it will work with the 4G networks here when they become fully operational, I'm not going to pay for 4G when the UK's 4G coverage is so poor at the moment.
When the 4G network becomes more established throughout the UK and in the area where I live then I may consider it, but I have a tablet that's 4G/LTE enabled for the future, however with me being so unimpressed & underwhelmed by Samsung's poor upgrade policy, I may consider buying both an Iphone & Ipad.
I don't live in the UK but in Australia. I bought a HK P605 and it works with 4G... As Oz uses international modems and radios too, it should work on yours.

Installing another region's s/w doesn't change your CSC. When connecting to Play or Samsung Apps it still identifies as being from Hong Kong and any regional restrictions still apply. Plug it in to Kies and it'll come up as Hong Kong.

You are wrong.
I have a HK machine, which I flashed with a "BTU" firmware and I've connected it to Kies3 and it tells me my CSC code is now PHE (Spain) and checking with the device it says PHE as well.
So as far as I am concerned the machine is now an EU one. Not an HK one.
And I still wont recommend buying one either.
When you use Kies for emergency recovery you input the device serial number. From that, Kies knows the CSC the device shipped with and the regional ROM it should be running. Of course Samsung has access to the same information. I'm running a TPA 4.4 ROM but as you can see below my CSC is still TTT. So I have no idea what happened in your situation but you'll forever have a HK device based on its serial number. I'd say it would affect your warranty but you don't have one any way.

Yes I know that and where you have TTT, I now have PHE.
Just an update, my 605 arrived today all the way from HK (took 8 days from ordering to arrival!). Everything working exactly as it should, on connecting to wifi it's already asking me to update to 'fix stability issues'. For now I've disabled it updating, not actually sure what it wants to update! To KitKat? It's my first tablet, so I'm leaving at stock for a week or so to get the general gist of it. Makes it easier that I have had an S3 for near 2 years now and it seems almost everything (menus etc) are almost identical. Put my phone sim into the note and it works no problem, I'm not on 4G at the minute mainly because it's expensive, I live in Birmingham so the 4G coverage here is excellent. Looking forward to reading up on rooting and trying out some mods, stocky's looks a good one, but I'm open to any suggestions if anyone has any Very happy with my £353 purchase, it's the 32GB version too. Seems plenty fast for me not being that experienced using a tablet. Fully expecting the same model when released in uk will easy be 600 maybe more, or more likely tied to a mad 24 month 4G contract 60+ a month plus 100 quid upfront.

Zenfone 5 Different Versions (LTE Support) and how to identify

Hi fellow's, I'm trying to find a way to identify which model of the Zenfone 5 supports LTE Band 20. I heard that there are 3 different versions, a/b/c, from which 2 support LTE Band 20. How can I identify the right model? Do the have different serial numbers or anything like that? Maybe one of you can share their package (or rather the back of it) or phone information.
Or is there an app to check which Bands are supported?
Thanks ins advance

A is the eurppean version.
B is the Global version. So if you don't buy it from local carriers (or through official channels), then you'll find this global version.
Currently there is no version for USA 4G.
This thread mentions the 5 but just to add some more info...the 5z supports more bands as listed here (https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-5Z-ZS620KL/Tech-Specs/). All 3 versions support band 20.
I'd also like to know the answer to this question. I've bought one from China and am not sure if it supports the LTE band I need. What makes it worse is that it doesn't show what whether the phone is on 2G, 3G or 4G next to the mobile signal strength on the screen. I've never seen a phone do this. Is this normal on this phone? Is there a way to get to show it on screen?
Mine arrived a few days ago and the supported Bands were on the back of the package. I got a taiwanese version without Band 20/800mhz but I can identify wether I'm in 3G or 4G

Do you have WiFi turned on? I don't have a sim in my 5 at the moment but I seem to recall it showing 4G, etc. next to the mobile signal strength if WiFi was turned off.
Thanks guys. Yep, I had WiFi turned on. I turned it off there it was "H". WTF is that all about!! You can't see whether you're on 2G, 3G or 4G unless you have WiFi turned off??!! Terrible design decision because I have WiFi on all the time, as do most of us, and I need to know what "G" I'm on as it affects data transfer, essential for my work......anyway, I also looked on the back of the box and there it is Band 20 is missing (the most popular 4G band in the UK). Great. Another ridiculous design design decision. And to add insult to injury the fingerprint sensor is poor. Only work 6/10 times. I'd seen this on reviews but figured they weren't doing it right. I've re-entered fingerprints a few times now and makes no difference. My old Honor 7 and my lads Xiaomi phone work 10/10 and lightning quick so there's no excuse........So the phone is going back......to China. Wonder if I'll ever see my money again.

All my previous Android phones worked this way. You can't see 2G/3G/4G, while you're on Wi-Fi. It's not ASUS's design, it's Android default design.
Indeed Band 20 is missing if you bought the Global version. If you want B20, you have to buy it officially from your local carrier/store, because that's the one made for EU.
EDIT: Before I consufe someone, let me clarify. What I said is only true for the Zenfone 5, because all versions of the Zenfone 5Z supports B20.

If it's not available, flash custom ROM/stock ROM (not sure if it's available) and there is an option called 'Smart Network Switch'

Ahh, indeed. So if you're on wi-fi, but there's no connection behind it, it should show a "!" next to the wi-fi and show 2/3/4G on the network. That's right, it's just not something that happens to me very often (or ever...).
But, yes that's a bug, I'll report it early tomorrow. Also the problem is different. It doesn't show 2/3/4G, because it stays on wi-fi and if I try to load a website it says it's unavailable, because I'm offline, so the bug is, that the phone doesn't switch from wi-fi to mobile network if the wi-fi doesn't have a connection.
I'm pretty sure it'll get fixed.
So are they making a version with the bands needed for TMobile and att?

The spec page has been updated and it appears version A has the fewest bands, version B next, and version C - everything. Why would anyone not want version C?

Agreed...version C is the best. From what I can tell, all the ones available for sale to this point are A versions (at least from what the website listings have shown). According to an ASUS person on Zentalk, the US version will be the B variant. I'd buy one in a second if I could find either the B or C version online anywhere.
Why can't manufactures just suck it up and support every available band? I believe IPhones do it and I think the unlocked Galaxy S9+ does, too.

They pay for licensing to enable all bands. Cheaper to do without.
If you don't make your own SoC like Huawei or Samsung, you need to pay for more bands. It's not a lot but just for example 10$ per device and you sell millions...
When I click that link and look at version c I'm not seeing all those bands u have on your screenshot

General Network Signal Guru has been updated for the Pixel 6/exynos

Network Signal Guru - Apps on Google Play
4G 5G signal test, lock band lock rat etc.
play.google.com
Working great on my rooted Pixel 6, FYI this app requires root
mmarcz
I've been testing this for around a month. Works quite well but dual SIM or leaving DSDS enabled can be a little weird.
Band locking is not possible and likely will never be.
Interesting, thanks. The ads aren't being blocked by AdAway (root) and the app would cost $50 a month for advanced features, but I'm sure some interesting data can still come out of it for free.
I used this app for band locking. What else can we use it for if it doesnt support that

Looks like it's capable (and defaults to as long as it's running) of testing your connectivity. I don't know specifics and would likely only use it if I had a problem, which I haven't.
An excerpt of the description in the app store:
Network Signal Guru (NSG) is a multi-functional Android OS based tool for voice and data service quality troubleshooting, RF optimization and engineering field work. It supports all wireless network technologies worldwide, and covers multiple mobile layers as well as data stack in real-time. NSG provides extensive test functions for voice, data tests to assess and reflect the real end-user experience of QoS within a mobile network.
NSG covers all test functions and latest technologies such as: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, CDMA2000, EVDO, LTE, NR5G. NSG integrates full recording and decoding of protocol layers on the supported technologies(3GPP, Layer2, Layer3 and SIP) and direct decoding of Layer 3 signaling and data protocol packets on cell phones.
NSG Map offers comprehensive and valuable benefits to combine outdoor and indoor measurements, which reduces the complexity of in locations such as subway, malls or airports.
NSG needs two prequisite conditions before you are using this tool. first only support Qualcomm chipset models. Secondly NSG need cell phone a super user access within your android phone and you have to root the device before NSG is running.

It's a monitoring tool first and foremost.
I'm looking forward to positively identifying new cells/PCIs, new band broadcasts like n77 or n41 SA, or emerging technologies like 5G carrier aggregation or VoNR.

Thanks for replying. I am a noob and having all the info the app gives is basically a new language. But I have a feeling even if I did know what the information is telling me I couldn't really do anything with it.
I am in the middle of switching service providers and I have a sim card of all three providers in my country. If someone can help me understand what to look for so I can choose the best provider

It depends on the carrier and how activated the sim card is, but you should be able to use NSG or other, free apps like CellMapper to measure your signals and coverage.
Carrier maps are also an option if you trust them.
And don't worry about understanding all the data. I only understand a fraction of it myself.
The key metrics are easy and for all of them, higher values (or closer to zero if negative) are better.
RSRP = Reference Signal Received Power
RSRQ = Reference Signal Received Quality
SINR = Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio
Also useful to see how wide your signals are. A 5 MHz wide signal at 600 MHz will be extremely slow but have greater coverage than a super-fast 80 MHz wide signal at 2.5 GHz.
Can someone verify if NSG exposes the QCI on Exynos like it does on Qualcomm? My Pixel 3 XL doesn't seem to work with it and my HTC 10, which does work, isn't whitelisted for AT&T so if I put an AT&T SIM in it, I risk them blocking my SIM (and I would rather not mess with the IMEI to get around that) and the battery on the 10 is going to go totally kaput soon anyway.
On Qualcomm, this an example of what the screen looks like

I'm not very experienced with this app, but I've got it running, gave it root permissions, it's testing. I turned Wi-Fi off just in case that would help progress. Everything below the GUTI line is blank so far, but I'll leave it running for a while and see if anything happens, and report back. I have not paid the $50 per month for the app, for what it's worth.

Pixels are apparently pretty fussy because of Google so it's probable that there's more to do than just install it but I don't know what those things are unfortunately since I don't have it working on my 3 XL either. Thanks for checking though, would be a nice perk.

Thanks for checking. It probably needs a custom kernel or something. I saw a post about, I think it was the 4 XL, needing some special userdebug kernel because Google switched to AOSP variants or something like that. I only briefly skimmed it but it sounded like a hassle. Probably why it doesn't work on my 3 XL but I tried the Kirisakura kernel and it didn't work on that either.
It's not like a critical feature or anything but I help people find prepaid plans and the QCI determines network deprioritization policies and a lot of the QCI info that I've gathered hasn't been updated in years so I was going to start buying a SIM to test every so often and update all of it.
I have working QCI.
It should be noted that the app works a lot better if you disable DSDS in the phone's secret menu. NSG tends to get confused about which SIM card it should show info on if you have DSDS enabled.

What was needed to get the app working? Custom ROM, kernel? Or just disable DSDS?
Hearing that you can see the QCI has pushed me over the edge and I'm going to get a 6 next month, just need to know if there is anything specific to get it working.

Any idea why @mightyvenom is only seeing the IMS QCI on the Pixel 6?
Does Network Signal Guru display the QCI?
I test prepaid plans and part of that process involves checking the QCI. I know that Exynos modems have limitations that Snapdragon ones don't. My Pixel 3 XL unfortunately is not supported for NSG and if I can test this with a 6, I'll definitely...

Just a note on the band locking menu. What you see is what you get. NSG exposes the entire hidden baseband console as-is. Anything you touch will persist through a reboot and that ENDC stuff is completely undocumented.
Google and Samsung need to update the modem to allow 5G band locking or toggling NSA/SA.

I hopped off the December 10th beta and manually installed this new carrier services 89. build. The connection seems more stable at first pass, but I also cannot seem to pick up 5G UC. I am going to take a drive and go tower hopping to see if I can jump start it with a handoff.
I think swider is talking about the app from the playstore rather than what T-Mobile shows in the sim option. Admittedly my knowledge is limited on the particulars of this stuff.

Y'all, ROFL! If the reception situation doesn't improve I might be tempted to hop off a tower! I did drive out far enough for a handoff and it seems to have jump started everything as I anticipated. I am keeping an eye both on my speed and mobile network standby battery usage.
I will test on my Pixel 6 Pro... I hope this is better...
Edit : It's changing nothing, I just want cry again and again... (clear cache/data of carrier services, SIMToolkit, Sim Manager, reboot my Pixel...) F*ck Google !
Just RMA it. I also had connection issues right from the start (interupted mobile connection while at full LTE reception) and will get a replacement.

stroke55,
Did you have the same issues with your replacement device? I have read a couple people going that route and they all seem to end up with roughly the same issues on the new device. I am still willing to believe that it's a software problem.
I got the new Carrier Services about a day or so ago. I think I might have noticed a decent increase in network and therefore better battery life. But I'll know more in a day or so. But it does look good so far.
Sure would be nice if everyone got these updates at the same time.

I will get my replacement unit next week probably (Google received my faulty P6P a couple of minutes ago) and will report back. If the issue will not be resolved Google will have a second chance to fix it before I have the legal right to withdraw from the purchase contract (at least here in my country). After 3 months I am just tired that Google seems to be unable to fix just a basic functionality of the phone softwarewise (or hardwarewise - who knows?!).
It looks like you can't get version 89.0___ unless you're in the Carrier Services beta group. But regardless, I think that I found a partial solution to one of the service issues that some are facing on T-Mo. In the SIM settings, put your "preferred network" to LTE (it's on 5G by default). In some areas of the US, your "5G" towers are just updated LTE towers and aren't proper 5G towers. As a result, if 5G is your preferred data type, it might dismiss the upgraded LTE towers and try its best to connect to an actual 5G tower, hence why it keeps failing and providing no service in some areas. Fixed.
Switching my preferred network to LTE resulted in the 5G logo popping up in the status bar and showing 3-4 bars of connection. It seems that the settings are a little messed up there.
*Edit* - Welp, nevermind. Ten minutes after doing this, the 5G logo went to the LTE image... And then ten more minutes later, I lost connection again and it wouldn't reconnect regardless of what was done... I'm gonna try joining the carrier services beta and see what happens. The only change I've made before this started happening was flash the latest Despair kernel.
*Final Edit* - I have removed my other edit posts as the issue was gone on other kernels and then returned a few minutes later. It seems there's either maintenance on my nearest cell tower or something else is going on... I'll wipe and reinstall the January update tonight to see what happens. Weird stuff. Yeah, disregard this as a re-update resolved the problem =)
What exactly does "carrier services" even do? It definitely isn't modem firmware, so can't impact signal strength or stability.

This is the millions $$ question. Some say it deals with RCS messaging. Others have dug into the app and say it deals with IMS-related stuff. The going consensus is that it basically provides instructions of sorts to carriers on how to best optimise their service for the hardware. I can say that the .89 beta apk has improved my circumstance now about 24 hours in. I haven't had any disconnects that I am aware of. The device also appears to run cooler. I mean this could all be placebo and they could just be doing tower work, but it feels like an improvement to me.

As a result, if 5G is your preferred data type, it will dismiss the upgraded LTE towers and try its best to connect to an actual 5G tower, hence why it keeps failing and providing no service in some areas.
There's definitely some backend wonkiness with the preferred network toggle. It takes a good minute sometimes more for the network to jump back to LTE.
