Question US OnePlus 11 will NOT start hotspot with AT&T 5g Sim - OnePlus 11

AT&T 5G Sim
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this, or if it can be tweaked?
I have a OnePlus 7 pro (that I reverted to) that has no problem starting the Hotspot.
I would really, really hate to return this phone...
Attached is the message I get, but you can ignore it as it's not temporary, and it's not a problem with the network.
Again, the 7 pro works flawlessly.

Not sure since I dont live in the US. Maybe it's a problem with APN?
What version of ROM does your oneplus have?

No data allowed.

Hi guys,
I have the N5100 3G version. I have had it since may and it has worked well. However, since yesterday, Three UK started blocking me from using data. It says I have to get a tablet sim. The problem is I don't want to loose the ability to make phone calls.
Has anyone had an issue like this?
I'm also having the same issue, I have spoken to three support today at length with the result being "we can sell you a mobile broadband plan sim that you can swap out for data" - it appears that Three have launched the LTE version on the note 8 as a tablet only device (ie, no phone or text) and so are blocking all versions of the note 8 under that ruling.
I'm going to try and get to talk to someone not loacted in India tomorrow to look into this as this is my main device for phone calls aswell as data and I'm locked into the one plan for another 9 months!

Yay, I am not the only one! I am really disappointed with it. They don't seem to understand me, I also use it as my main device. I do wonder how they identify the device, it would be good if we could change it so they think its a phone.

We 5100 owners in the US want the exact opposite: tablet plans are so much cheaper, we wish it were recognized as tablets instead of phones! If they are identifying your device by imei number, you may be able to get around it by using an imei from an LTE version. I had a similar issue (in reverse) and that's how it was resolved. I may eventually get caught, but for now, I'm flying under the radar.

How difficult was that to do?
Be careful talk of changing imei is against the TOS on these forums. As tempting as it sounds it is both dangerous and legally dubious. It is a common tactic used by phone thieves to activate stolen phones. Also modifying such information can render your phone a paper weight if not careful.

I'm not sure exactly how it was done, but it only took a few minutes to do. I'm sorry I don't know more about what's involved.

Hi, have you spoken to someone? Any resolution?

Question I bought a OnePlus 9 Pro from OnePlus.com. Intending to use it at TMobile.

I am currently a Tmobile subscriber and I usually buy my OnePlus phones thru Tmobile. But this time I just purchased the phone outright from OnePlus.com. I received the phone on Mar 31st and everything works except when I go on the Tmobile website it still lists my OnePlus 9 pro as 'unknown phone'. For other people who have purchased their phones directly from Oneplus for use on Tmobile is this normal?? It's been 9 days and I am wondering. I still get 5g speeds and everything but Im an old worry wart. Thanks in advance.

Yes this normal, as both 9 Pro and 7 pro shows as unknown. Most likely is because I have been using the same SIM card since the 6T and taking it out and putting it in the newer model.
Thanks, so much that makes me feel a lot better.
Mine is the same. I think it shows up that way for any device you didn't purchase from T-Mobile. (I could be wrong.)
Also, the same....normal
Same here as well, but what's funny is I recently got a second line with an unlocked device on it as well and it shows up as it's supposed to. But mine has been an unknown device for about 7 or 8 phones now. I recently did upgrade my sim card to the newest version for 5G and it still shows as unknown.
Thanks guys n galz :0-) I just love the phone and it seems to be fine. I get blazing fast speeds and frankly could not be happier with my new phone. As long as I can take my phone anytime anywhere I won't worry.
FWIW ... make sure you have a new SIM card.
To access the Tmo 5G network, you need the current "R" sim card.

Disagree. The rep made it VERY clear. And the SIMs are colored.
From Tmo support:
While your current SIM card is 5G compatible, it is not capable of using the 5G standalone technology we recently rolled out.
All of my phones that I purchased outside of T-mobile (all of the pixels, the 8pro and now the 9pro) show up as unknown even though T-mobile sells the phones.

No Settings for Mate 20X VoLTE on ATT?

Hi, I just switched from a Mi Max 3 to a Mate 20X since ATT is removing 3G, and haven't had any luck finding or setting up VoLTE on my Mate 20X. I'm fully updated to EMUI 11 and the option simply doesn't exist to turn on VoLTE. I've tried setting up a new APN as well, with no luck.
How should I go about getting it working? As ATT locks down any lines that don't have VoLTE.

It's been discussed this thing 20x.. You don't setup an volte on your phone firstly your mobile OP must support it then it will be auto enabled..

I did a lot of reading on these forums about that. I had called into ATT support last night and they said enabling VoLTE was something that they were unable to do for my IMEI on my line. To the point that ATT will actually lock my line out from even functioning once I try to get that device setup. Would I have to give them an IMEI for another device with VoLTE, have them unlock my line, and then put the sim card back in the Mate 20X?
Update on this, I tried a friends T-Mobile sim card in my phone and it worked with no issue. VoLTE started up completely fine. ATT is just being dumb with me when they say they can't activate VoLTE on the line.
So, would I need to bring in a completely different device with VoLTE and give them that IMEI. Then plop the sim card back in my Mate 20X?

they are against huawei and they in purpose not enabling it ... so they lying to you...
Get tmobile or verizon instead.. such messing around shouldn't happen an dsome imei locking n sht... They talking b-sht.. you already told them imei so they have you on black list..

No problems with that, switch to T-Mobile it is then. Heck even Google Fi or something like that.
I think they're telling me the device they see off of the IMEI isn't allowed, not blocking the IMEI or anything.

Thanks ATT.
Most of my family is on ATT, but I have someone in it on T-Mobile. Will be heading there later.
I already switched to T-mobile after 9 years with ATT
They simply locked out my phone
T-mobile works fine no issues

EVR-L29 on ATT in USA

So, just today, my Mate 20X stopped making or receiving calls. Looks like ATT shut down 3G calling. Anyone on ATT in the US find a way to continue using the EVR-L29? Anyone get anywhere with ATT tech support on this issue? I REALLY want to continue using this phone. If not, anyone know of a suitable alternative of the same size (7+ inch screen) that is VOLTE enabled with the proper bands for ATT? Don't want a folding phone. Anything else out there? Thanks!

I have the same issue with my Mate 10 Pro. For the last few months I had to keep calling to keep my IMEI whitelisted. This might be the end of the line. I called ATT earlier and this time they said there was nothing they could do. They said the hard phase out started yesterday for non-voLTE. Data and text still work, just not voice. I'm hoping magically there's still a workaround, but I dunno anymore.

I hear ya. I'll let you know if I find any joy . They are sending me a new sim but a guy at the att store said it probably won't work. Wondering if there are Huawei phones that have VoLTE and USA bands this is the third time I've been squeeze out of a great phone due to tower upgrades. sucks
Good luck. I previously swapped sims with the ATT u304aa phone they gave me, and it didn't save me this week.
Problem solved!! Ditch ATT. Went to T Mobile after they sent me some stupid E sim card that wasn't even compatible with my device. They put in one of their sim cards into my phone and BOOM...just like that, my Mate 20X has VoLTE. Turns out ATT doesn't want to help people out.

Both tmo and att are corporate. But tmo is less corp and more people oriented than att.

Question Does Oneplus 11 work on AT&T?

Title says it all. I remember reading in the past that there was some issue with their phones working on AT&T.

The OnePlus 11 is fully certified to work on AT&T, including 5G. Only thing you won't have is mmwave as the 11 doesn't have mmwave.
OP 11 works on all major US carriers it's on the OP website.
Yes it will work. Unfortunately WIFI calling won't.

Ok. Thanks!
I'm using a OnePlus 7T on AT&T and ATT Support had to enable Wifi Calling on my account, it works w/o any problem and should still work when my OnePlus 11 arrives.

No. ATT Support just had to enable it on my device (OP 7T).
AT&T is pretty hit or miss with OPlus in my experience. They forced me out of their network when I had a OnePlus 7 Pro. Told me to upgrade, gave me the 3G network nonsense. Bought the 10 Pro, called support, they enabled all the switches on their side... two weeks later they cut my service completely right after a billing cycle and I couldn't text, call, and didn't have data. They kept telling me **** like my phone wasn't certified or something for their network, a brand new device bought from best buy, lol. The gall.
For OPlus I would use T-Mobile, as that's their "licensed" vendor so even global, EU, or CN Oppo devices seem to work fine. But that's just my personal experience last year, perhaps others are different.

That used to be the case but not since the 10T. OnePlus is now officially certified for AT&T network (but only the 10T and 11). In the past though, it wasn't certified and AT&T loved to kick people off for using a non-certified phone. As far as T-Mobile though, yeah OnePlus devices fully work on their network without any nonsense. They also fully work on Verizon without any nonsense too.
