Question Things not working, after flashing CN (ColorOS) to Global (OxygenOS) - OnePlus 11

Hey,
I wanna understand and make a collection of things that don't work so far after flashing to Global OOS. Try to get a rough idea of what I lose out if I go for CN unit
I made an order for OP11 (device + buds pro 2), its a pretty good deal but have recently found out that in china they sells for as much as 30-40% lower compared to the price I paid.

Esim. That's all.
I also wanted to do the same thing and get a converted unit, but instead I pre-ordered UK op11 and I got a bang and Olufsen speaker worth 230£ ( I'll sell it for at least 150) and a further 100£ discount using trade in. So I got my op11 global 16/256 for 550£. Cheaper than china, and I get EU warranty

I will tell you whats not working on my device.
1. If i set display color to natural, it will shift to vivid mode and vice versa all the time.
2. Changing from fhd to qhd, display size goes larger and cant open camera and some apps(this also happens when i put face id unlock or fingerprint.
3. Bluetooth audio is changing codecs all the time and cant listen music normally listening on tws earphones.
4. Telephoto camera focus is also buggy.
5. If i do number 2. Only way to fix it is reverting to fhd display and restart the phone. Which means I'm capped to only use fhd screen for now.
6. I dont have 5ghz hotspot if i want to turn it on. Only 2.4
7. Fingerprint senzor sometimes wont work at all
8. Face unlock is very bad also

in my country, we only got buds pro 2 + extended warranty + screen protection plan, all together for like $800. UK definitely had the better deal
not cheaper than china anymore, they currently have quite some competition - nubia, meizu all releasing their new devices. Xiaomi, IQOO making price cuts etc.

My Zenfone 6 arrives tomorrow, what should I test? what do you want to know?

Greetings,
My Zenfone 6 (6GB/64GB) arrives tomorrow here in Germany, I'd like to ask what you Guys want to know the most?
Ask me anything and i'll respond to EVERY Question ASAP!
AND YES - first thing i'll do is to find a working GCAM Version!!! lol
See ya all
I'm in Germany as well - may I ask how you got your hands on it? Is that a piece provided by ASUS PR, or did you find a retailer who has it in stock?
I'd like to buy it as well, preferably the silver one.
Hi, please check if it's possible to take photos on RAW format.
And if possible, something i haven't seen yet, is a photo on a very very dark area with max exposure time, i guess it's 32 seconds. If not asking too much take one with the lowest possible ISO and other with the highest possible ISO.
It seems the Night Mode on this phone isn't so great. It seems it's only reducing highlights but not increasing shadows or something. But i'm curious to see what the phone is capable of on low light extreme conditions on Pro mode.

So they're shipping them already?! I thought the two available models were pre-orders to be shipped somewhere in June!
The whole launch was terrible communication on ASUS' side. Thanks for your clarification, I might order the black one after all then.

I ordered one from the French website this morning and got a shipping confirmation 2 hours ago. It seems to be handled by a distributor in Germany.
Only the two black 6 GB models (64 GB / 128 GB) were available, the rest is still to come apparently.
From what phone r u coming from?
Second, see if lcd screen has some ghosting, which renders it less fluid than amoled phones. Can't seem to get that answered in the other AMA thread in this section.

I had a Note 9 - for about 1 1/2 Months, before that, I had the Nokia 7 Plus (still using it right now)
I also had a Pixel 3a XL last Month, but just for a Week because I wanted to test the Phone.
I purchase a lot of Phones, then I'm testing then for around one or two Weeks and then I return them.
If you can and have a USB-C dongle, please check if the phone is able to cast its screen via HDMI cable

Lenovo P2. And yes, an AMOLED display is much more crispy with more contrast, but I only noticed that after I looked at the Lenovo screen again. The Asus has a very good screen.
Wouldn't notice ghosting yet.

Thanks a lot for the samples.
Even though the image is blurry due to long exposure, it's noticeable the greater quality (at least the brightness) comparing with any of the other modes, including Night Mode.
The phone needs to be really steady with such long exposures and maybe Night Mode will work a little better on scenes with a big discrepancy between shadows and highlights, but it's nice to see what this phone can do on very dark scenes on Pro Mode. As a photography enthusiast it gave me some relief. I think with some work we can have amazing results even with some highlights present if we manually take multiple shots with multiple exposures and combining them.
I was wondering, how are the stereo speakers and headphone jack output for you?
I currently use the zenfone 5z and have some network problems.
Could you test:
1. Opening a hotspot and let a volkswagen car radio (discover media model) connect to it? On the three zenfone 5z i tested the radio was able to connect to the hotspot but got no internet. Other phones hotspots work just fine.
2. Use tasker autotools ssh to open a ssh connection with the phone connected to wifi. Then switch off wifi and try to connect via ssh again. On the 5z it will not work after switching networks. Switching back to wifi will make it work again. (create task, add action, plugins/autotools/ssh and enter the ssh connection details, save, press "play" for the task while on wifi, disconnect wifi, press play again and it will time out)
3. Is the auto wake up wifi function available? https://www.howtogeek.com/327532/ho...youre-near-a-trusted-network-in-android-oreo/
4. If you have rooted the phone try to open a vpn hotspot with the vpn hotspot app. On the 5z the devices connected to the vpn hotspot won't get internet. https://www.xda-developers.com/vpn-hotspot-share-vpn-connection/
I tried to debug it with the developer but at some point we came to the conclusion that the 5z was the culprit. So whatever asus ****ed up with the networking (probably some routing issue) these issues would definetely be a dealbreaker for me.
please take as many pictures in day mode and at night time as possible and post them. i only had phones with OIS until now and i am afraid that the samples i've seen on the net are in ideal conditions. i'd like to see how it behaves in real life tests, like i'm at some water fountain at night and i take a picture, without a fixed point, just from my hand
thank you!

Yep,, I bought one from giztop. No problems at all but, I'm on ee. Not sure what network ur on but the 128gb version doesn't have band 20, so if ur maybe o2, that could be an issue.. No problems at all with the phone, loving it. Had WW Rom installed, but still needed to change fingerprint to WW to be able to update

I'm not really fussy about pics, as I just need it for work pics. I'm seeing mixed reports tho regarding images.

I have both 7 pro and rog2 (tencent, ww rom).
Oneplus 7 pro pros :
- better screen quality, the colors are more vibrant, but lower max brightness than ROG2.
- software is better, updates in a timely manner, it's on Android10 already and in general they seem to offer much better support than Asus (remember, ROG1 is still on Android8 with no plans for any updates)
- smaller, lighter
- telephoto camera, better overall photo quality in my opinion
ROG2 pros:
- 120Hz screen offers a super smooth experience
- THAT battery
- auto brightness works
- 3.5mm headphone jack with good audio quality, also pretty good amplification
- flat screen
- notification led
- stereo speakers done right
- ultra wide lens is wider than on 7 pro (or any phone I know) at 11mm, although the quality is so-so.
Hope this helps...

Sure it can, but gcam cannot substitute OIS that rog2 lacks on both lens for example. Saying that, I admit although I installed and took a couple of photos with gcam, I'm still far from having any conclusion.
Again, the 7 pro is not a camera phone marvel, but I find it to be a little better/flexible than the rog2 in the camera department (having OIS and telephoto lens also helps). Also, OnePlus made some real steps in making the camera better via software updates since 7 pro launched. Asus on the other hand, is not known for being eager to fix things or keeping the phone up-to-date in the software department and that's what worries me most regarding rog2.
I've just got a Tencent version delivered now in the UK for me, I'm on virgin mobile (virtual network on EE) and I cannot get 4G signal, only HSPA+. My Oneplus5 gets 4G+ here and about 45mbit speeds.
My Asus ROG2 came already with WW firmware, but I'm not sure if it is just the band 20 missing that is the issue. I was expecting at least a tiny bit of 4G, but so far I've got no 4G signal at all.

I'm not sure if my phone was "warming up" but it managed to get 4G a bit later even though it was on my desk exactly at the same position when it was on HSPA for a while. I'm getting 4G+ at speed test here that was around 30-40mbits on my oneplus 5 went to 60mbit on the asus rog 2.
I'll take it out tomorrow on the road to see how it goes
I believe this 4g reception issue is only valid with the 128GB version right? 512GB version with 12GB ram should have all the 4G bands in the UK?

Yes, I believe the that one has all bands
the only band missing in the UK is band 20, 800-900mhz ish.
Not sure if the 12gb chinese version has the band 20, it is still for chinese market I guess.

Op7t is a good phone already. Personally if i had that phone i'd keep it as is, if you jist plan to use it for phone, browsing, youtube, etc you're not gaining anything.
But benefits of the phone are.
- UFS 3.1
- more ram
- better benchmarks if thats your thing
- excellent gaming
-crazy long range wifi
- 144hz refresh rate ( again if thats your thing) i use 60 to 90hz
- has a fricken cooling fan built in.
The rom is surprisingly stable and seems to work well.
For android 10 there is a bootloader bypass, that allows you to root and install custom recovery without unlocking your bootloader ( unlocking bootloader corrupts your fingerprint reader)
There is already a official beta for android 11, it has a few battery bugs but should be fixed soon, with a global release a few weeks after china official release.
Now not so much.
- not water proof at all. ( There is literally two huge holes on either side for the fan) water = paperweight
- camera post processing could be better
-limited 5G supported bands ( be mindful the 5g does not work great everywhere, and it only has a few bands to support so check eith your current and local Service providors for 5g signal info.
Overall its a great phone. Worth it if you not fussed over 5g support, and the fact its not IP rated at all.
Replacing an already decent phone thsts up to you i replaced a 6 year old phone for it so it was worth it to me.

My main reason behind the idea of changing is because that my op7tp battery degraded also much its now 85% battery health, and there is no any op support here in the country where i stay in so thats why im thinking about a change
If you want a game solely for gaming features, then it is a great phone. I wouldn’t use it for daily use as my primary phone though.
The software is not great for everyday use. I get regular restarts and cant share screen captures, laggy when swapping between open apps after using for a while. Call quality is not great, everyone has trouble hearing me no matter what app I use for making the calls, including video calls. I wouldnt say the high refresh screen is any better than my huawei mate 20pro or note 9.
I wont use mine anymore, it was a waste of money as I didnt buy it for gaming. Because of the software issues i wouldn't even give it to my kids.

Question Good or bad?

Well, been wanting to get a bigger screen AMOLED phone, to replace my View20.
I tend to keep my phones a long time, and I'm not so much a gamer. On a phone, that is
Red Magic 6 (non pro-version) to my eyes seems to be about the best "Bang For Buck" phone, with top of the line CPU & GPU. And a big AMOLED screen... I'd pretty much would put €600 to be the limit for price.
Support and bugs seem to be kinda the point, which still keeps me thinking. I was going to get Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. As it's €279 now here for a limited time... Then again, it has a smaller display and much weaker CPU/GPU... On that front, it's even slower than my View20...
Decisions, decisions...
What do the people here think about this dilemma?
the screen brightness only 630nits, it is not enough for using outdoor
and the ROM have many bug

Well, my View20 has: "The panel maxed out at 479 nits regardless of whether auto-brightness is enabled or not".
So it's quite much brighter than that, and it hasn't been a problem for me, even with View20.
Bugs are the things, that I'm more concerned with. Also, at the price, are there better phones. With big AMOLED displays?

To give you an idea of how buggy it is, I bricked mine doing a manual update with the software the OEM provided because the phone wouldn't pick up the update on its own.
Also, you can't change the home launcher without root and notifications are unreliable on the lock screen

I just received mine and that is false. You might not be able to use gestures, but you can change the launcher. You need to change it in the default apps. It doesn't work the normal way when opening a new launcher, but there is a way still without root.
I just use it for a month and I didn't face any issue with the latest update. It was pushed automatically via OTA. Previously, i also tried the software update version on their official website by downloading the correct version based on my region. Everything was successfully fine and it is working like the first day i was unboxing the phone.

General advice on buying this phone

So, I'm in a market for a new phone, and my current best bet is the xiaomi mi 10T pro. Now, since it's locked on my local telecom provider network, I can get it with a new 2 year contract, so no returns possible. Reading tons of reviews, and user experiences, I came to conclusion that it's a great hardware phone with a really crappy sowtware. The phone I cvan get has a MIUI12 version, but they can't say is it 12.0 or 12.5.
What are my concerns? I see that the biggest issues is car bluetooth connectivity, and WiFi connectivity. Both major issues for me.
I have a 2012 renault Scenic that doesn't use android auto, but a proprietary (arkamys and tomtom) system. If the phone comes with android 10, and I don't install any updates until a less buggy version of android 11 MIUI comes out.. should I be ok? Or if the system is android 11 out of the box.. Should I expect constant problems and simply avoid the phone? Are all xiaomi phones running MIUI12.5.1. affected?
Custom ROMs are not an option because that would void the 2 year warranty.
thank you
The Mi10T Pro is an excellent choice that gets better with every update.
I actually hated this phone a lot when I bought it due to the auto screen dimming being too harsh, so I also bought a Samsung Galaxy 20 FE 5G, then a P30 Pro, then a Poco F2 Pro and finally a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra (& I tested them all equally) What I found was I hate under screen fingerprint sensors (the side mounted fingerprint sensor detection on the Mi10T Pro is instant) and despite the camera arrays on all the other phones being 'on paper' better I found the Xiaomi phone 'on average' took better shots. Also video recording is night and day better than all the other phones I tested with very little shimmer and balance correction/focus when the light started to get low.
As for MIUI I have never had an issue apart from the woefully lacking security updates but hopefully now I've manually updated to 12.5.5 (I was on Jan 2020 update waiting for an EU 12.5.1 from 12.1.1) updates should come quicker (& it's very stable)
As for connectivity I have not encountered any issues with Bluetooth streaming or connecting to headphones but I do not have the accessories you connect to.
Lastly the prices for these phones should drop like a stone as they have just announced the Mi11T & Pro so you may find it cheaper to buy one used after the Mi11T & Pro is released.
So.. you say I should go for it...Current price is around 270$.. Don't believe it will drop that much... more likely it will get taken out of the offer.
the main negative aspect of this phone is the camera... i came from lg v20 because it was the latest flagship phone with the infrared feature. a five years old phone still takes better pictures then the 10t pro... you rarely use the 108mp cam because the software sucks. so you are stuck with 13mp... also, this phone is missing some basic features like you cant plug and play using type-c to hdmi output....but for the price, is definitely a nice cheap phone to have for work maybe lol. or use it as a universal remote haha
I came from a huawei P7 phone...gone to samsung A30... Anything is better than A30. I don't need any special bells and whistles.. just that the bluetooth connectivity works, and GPS signal is stable..

Change the Format to 3:4 in the drop down menu in Miui camera to have the pixel binned 27MP resolution.
So...I'm not getting any viable information here. If I get this phone, and keep it on android 10, ignoring updates, will the Bluetooth and WiFi work normally, and glitch free?

The wifi and Bluetooth are basic things that will work just right but it depends also on the devices which they connect to.
