Hardbricked Redmi 7. Locked Bootloader. How do I install Stock ROM? - Xiaomi Redmi 7 Questions & Answers

I was using LineageOS on my Xiaomi Redmi 7. I wanted to give my device for a phone exchange so wanted to install the stock ROM. I erased my device completely using twrp. Then I started installing the stock ROM using MiFlashTool. I chose the `clean & lock` option. The flashing process failed. My phone started showing `System destroyed...`. I suspect that this is a hard brick caused by the use of `clean & lock` option, which might've locked my bootloader. I cannot flash the orangefox recovery.
I have acces to fastboot mode but when I ran:
Markdown (GitHub flavored):
fastboot oem unlock
shows:
Markdown (GitHub flavored):
fastboot oem unlock
FAILED (remote: 'Token verification failed, reboot the device')
fastboot: error: Command failed
&
Markdown (GitHub flavored):
fastboot flash recovery orangefox.img
too shows a similar error
I tried using "Franseco Yates - XiaomiTool-V2" in which I chose the "unbrick" option and proceeded. I have forgotten my Mi Account ID. Although, I have my phone number & Email, it wouldn't send me the code on my phone number. So I couldn't sign in as I've also forgotten my password to my Mi Account.
Is there any method to fix this? Hopefully an unpaid one?

you have tagged that question EDL so you already know the answer. on locked bootloader you can flash only in EDL mode. try one of these commands.
Code:
fastboot oem edl
fastboot reboot-edl
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...tboot-no-more-test-point-method-kenzo.3398718
then install the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 Driver and flash with MiFlash or XiaomiTool-V2

Even EDL didn't work for me. It can now only be done with an authorised account. Mi stores are asking for 450 rupees to fix it. It is still a cheap repair. But I bought a new phone so idc anymore.

you still can repair it. all you need is No Auth Firehose (Loader)

system destroyed, when in fastboot mode and plug to the pc (device not recognised)

So, a few months ago I rooted my device with twrp and then installed magisk manager... A few days later the manager stopped working and I got tired of not being able do do nothing so I tried to unroot. I used mi flash to flash the daisy rom and it didn't work so I tried to load to the twrp app and flash through there. Didn't work either. From then on every time I boot the device it shows the message "the system has been destroyed" and Bc of that I searched for solutions. I kinda found one. I boot to fastboot mode and with the platform tools I write on the command line ". /fastboot devices" and then it shows my device. After I write ". /fastboot boot continue" and it starts booting the device and it has worked for like 2 months but 2 days ago I had to reboot my device Bc it started to freeze but when I load to fastboot mode and plug it to the pc it show a prompt saying "the device is not recognized" and the device reboots to the message "system has been destroyed". Pls help, I've searched everywhere and didn't find any solution
Are you have your bootloader unlocked? I guess no, the most "easy" solution for your problem is test point , never fail, you need to download Qualcomm drivers (search in Google) open your device connect your device, your phone need to be recognized like 9008 in manager drivers of your PC then flash stock room in mi flash (flash all option) my recommendation is flash 10.0.13.0 or 10.0.18 version of stock rom, good luck.

Flashing using MI Flash got stuck

Hello,
I'm using Redmi Note 5 pro. Recently my device went on boot loop. Whenever I tried to restart, it was showing MI Logo for long time, nothing happens. I'm not able to enter into recovery mode as well (Vol Up + Power). But I can go to Fastboot mode (Vol down + power key).
Mine is not bootloader unlocked and I dont think I have enabled OEM Unlocking from the settings.
I tried downloading the ROM from below URL (Rom for Fastboot flash) -> whyred_global_images_V11.0.3.0.PEIMIXM_20191108.0000.00_9.0_global
http://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=whyred_global&b=F&r=global&n=
When I check, whether the fastboot devices is showing mine or not, I can see my device listed
In another forum, I can across this, before flashing using MiFlash, they asked to download the Edl.cmd file from the below link and run it. I did that as well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../guide-how-to-reboot-to-edl-fastboot-t3394292
After that, when I select the downloaded ROM, and try to flash it with MiFlash (v2019.12.6.0), it keep showing the below line. but its not getting errored out. progress bar keeps going till the end but it stays with the below status. Attached the screenshot as well.
fastboot %* getvar product 2>&1 | findstr /r /c:"^product: *whyred" || echo Missmatching image and device
Any help with will be much helpful! Thanks in advance!
I think flashing via fastboot on unlocked bootloader is not possible
Hi, you mean locked bootloader is not possible?
If yes, is there a way to fix the phone?
Thanks in advance!

The way i see is Edl flash mode (wait for a proper answer)
I accidentally locked my chinese whyred while flashing global rom using miflash.
The only thing that worked for me was EDL flash chinese rom using QFIL following the tutorial here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/fix-arb-bricked-device-qfil-t3841780
I had to use chinese rom for 360 hours until I could unlock the bootloader again.
You need to flash the rom version that matches your device origin (global, china, india, russia, etc..)

Hello, Thanks for letting me know about this method. I tried this but I'm not able to find my devices showing in Device Manager as "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008" (I'm trying with fastboot mode as am not able to go to Recovery mode)
I tried installing the Qualcomm QDLoader 9008 driver using the method shown in the below link
https://www.99mediasector.com/install-qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-install/
1. tried direct installation of exe - didn't work)
2. there was manual method which asked me to reboot in edl mode using the command fastboot oem edl - but this shows error saying FAILED (remote: 'Device is already locked!')
//attached screenshot for reference
Thanks!

You're in fastboot. not EDL mode.
EDL Testpoint - https://youtu.be/dYVR5BgNwG0
Connect the usb cable to both phone and pc, disconnect the battery flex cable, short the two EDL testpoint, and connect the battery flex cable. it will take some practice.
Also, there is a limited time in EDL mode to start flashing, if you too late you will have to repeat again.
Use this tutorial https://youtu.be/ikGsxf_s-zw
It seems shorting pins and edl flashing is the only way for reviving ur phone pal
Good luck

What you are trying to do? Just switch from Chinese to Global? or your device is bricked now?
What did happen after that you flashed the Chinese recovery ROM?
What modes do you have available?
Did you unlock bootloader previously?

Fastboot flashing commands won't work if you have bootloader locked.
Did you unlock bootloader previously and probably get locked again?
Did you enable all the proper options on Developer section, i.e. USB debugging and check if device is recogniced on adb commands?
What do you get with "fastboot getvar all"?

And you said you enabled USB debuging?!? you didn't. First enable it under development tools.
MAKE SURE YOUR USING RIGHT ADB/FASTBOOT TOOLS AND DRIVERS.
After 'adb reboot bootloader' use 'fastboot devices'. You can change usb cable and if you still get errors try using usb hub.
If all above fails than try it on WIN7 PC.

I think you are not properly booted to the proper state while you're trying certain commands. Just to be clear; adb works while your device is power on and fastboot commands will work only while your device is in fastboot mode not while on adb mode. A way to be sure that you are doing properly is enabling USB debugging first but while connected device with PC, a prompt will appear from device screen and then tap on "always allow", then you have to type "adb devices" and follow step by step, if device is recognized you can go to the next step with "adb reboot bootloader" then in fastboot you have to see the bunny otherwise is not properly in fastboot mode, then you can follow with "fastboot devices" and so on, keep in mind that any command will work until device is properly recognized.

Just trying to determine what your words exactly mean when you say "after in fastboot mode it doesn't boot in adb mode." ... without entering in more technical insights adb works when device is on, no sense to boot to fastboot to try to boot to adb after that (?)
If you can boot to fastboot what you have to try firstly is unlock bootloader or be sure that is already unlocked using
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
if your device is or get unlocked then you can try to flash or just boot to a custom recovery but if you can't determine until now if your device is really unlocked then you couldn't go further.
The hardware method to enter to fastboot is from a device off; pressing both pwr and vol down buttons but if the bunny is not displayed probably you didn't really get fastboot mode.

Do yo use WIN10? Find PC with Win7... and install adb/fastboot app and drivers. Than try..
Is your system working now?
Just unlock your bootloader and install OrangeFox recovery than you can flash whatever you need.
Problem solved.

TWRP can't bypass encryption, when you have no access to read data (0mb) then you have to format it, to avoid that is always recommended use OrangeFox, just for future reference, if you understand that you can flash OrangeFox through TWRP for better experience.
Also you can use this tool to help you to automate some stuff https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools

I can get to "adb sideload" and fastboot, but the bootloader is locked
Can I unlock the bootloader with EDL? Can I access EDL with an EDL-cable? Or do I need to open the phone and short the EDL pins?
Can I recover the phone from a Linux computer? Or do I need Windoze?
Is it even possible to un-screw this phone?

ok, you can run edl mode but its no good for you, its already locked by xiaomi, ( go ing to fastboot mode and give commands something like this " fastboot boot edl")
* do you see padlock lock sign when you go to fastboot mode
* try to flash vbmeta in fastboot mode
* try again to flash correct version miui fastboot rom with mi flashing tool with out selecting lock bootloader
I can get to fastboot by holding power+vol-down. There's no lock icon.
On Ubuntu, I don't think fastboot is compiled to support rebooting into edl. I tried editing the source, and I'm not sure if I did it right, but the binary I built did not boot the phone into edl.
Using these commands:
Code:
fastboot flash vbmeta /tmp/platform-tools/vbmeta.img
Code:
fastboot --disable-verity flash vbmeta /tmp/platform-tools/vbmeta.img
Code:
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta /tmp/platform-tools/vbmeta.img
They all give the same result:
Code:
target reported max download size of 804274176 bytes
sending 'vbmeta' (4 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.006s]
writing 'vbmeta'...
FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State)

Did you found a way to fix the phone or unlock bootloader?
You have 2 ways to get out of this situation.
1. Try to unlock the bootloader with the Mi account you used last time.
2. If couldn't unlock, then switch to EDL mode. Use a no auth programmer to flash the correct variant fastboot ROM and the device should boots up. Then add account again and wait for 168 hours for unlocking.
Since we've got no auth programmer for Sm6125 we could use EDL mode freely.
Hi there @go vegan , have you already fix your phone again? because i also got the same situation on my redmi 6. or is there anybody who can help? thanks
Hi all add me to the list with a k20pro.
The device was unlocked at the start, i got MIUI 12.5 global and flashed with miflashtool.
but wipe and lock was active.
now the phone comes up to the recovery menu and says the miui version is not for this device.
When I try to flash to another version, miflashtool says the device is locked,
when I try to unlock while using the account the device is registered in, miunlock says go to settings >developer options> mi unlock status.
Gave it to a repair shop for 1.5 months and nothing. I live in Iran so no authorized service centers here.
I have access to fast boot mode and recovery.
I tried xiaomitoll V2 which had a specific question asking if my device would show This MIUI version can't be installed on this device in phone is bricked option. It goes to get china official Rom but then errors.
I'm a noob here so any help would be great, tnx.
I have encountered the same problem a few hours ago with my beloved Redmi K20 Pro. My heart became gloomy thinking that I have no way left other than having to take to an authorized service centre where they will rip off the back cover. But then I stumbled upon this simple solution that took me a minute or two. This is how I solved it:
Entered the fastboot mode
Connected the phone to my laptop using the USB cable
Opened the official Mi Unlock Tool and logged in with my Mi account, and
Clicked on the beautiful UNLOCK button!
Boom! The phone is back to its vibrant life! I'm just happy again!

The solution to the problem is simple.
into fast boot mode,
Run unlock again!! Obviously it's locked. When unlocking is executed,
the same screen may appear again. Please do a reboot. You will definitely see the MIUI installation screen.

What do you mean by "execute in your windows pc"? Sorry for asking

No bootable a/b slot

Hi all,
I have a T-Mobile Revvlry that I’ve been trying to flash lineage os to. It was unlocked and now after so many tries, it is oem locked
I went through all the unlock bootloader process before and was able to flash but always no os installed are you sure you want to proceed.
Slots a and b were confusing and so I changed the slot to a for flashing but this time the bootloader screen changed along with the serial number and now it is oem locked and can do nothing now .
I tried to boot twrp but no success. How can I oem unlock?? I tried the command fastboot oem unlock and fastboot flash etc but it is denied and that I need a code. Which I do have but don’t know how to use it now.

Did you follow the preinstall instruction and use copy-partitions-20210323_1922.zip?
if not that's what caused the problem.
You will need to use a blankflash to fix
Search for Channel blankflash there are some here
lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.
lolinet mirrors - powered by h5ai
mirrors.lolinet.com
but you may need a newer one
The device will need to be in Emergence Download Mode (EDL Mode)
Use
Code:
fastboot oem blankflash
or
boot twrp (use full twrp file name)
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and use
Code:
adb reboot edl
EDL Mode is just a black screen, and
Windows device manager will see it as a Qualcomm device (attached)
If it says ..._bulk... you need the Qualcomm drivers
Thank you! Yes I did follow the preinstall instruction and used copy-partitions-20210323_1922.zip several times. But obviously messed it up somehow.
I was missing some of the things you mentioned so I’ll work on that and thanks again!

Blankflash did work to blank the screen. But <adb reboot edl > came back with ‘no devices/emulators found’.
I do have the Qualcomm drivers

No, you only use "adb reboot edl" if "fastboot oem blankflash" didn't work.
Now use the blankflash file.

Ok, when I do the blankflash, there is the blank screen, however I can't communicate with the device after that and if I have lineage.zip or copy-partitions-etc...zip, how could I flash it or what is the next step? I'm new at this - I started this a year ago, after, gave up for a while.
Thanks!

If you have run the blank-flash.bat and it worked the device will reboot to bootloader.
If the device remains in EDL Mode, the blankflash failed, you may need a newer version.
You may need to do some searching in the forums for a newer version.

thanks - blank-flash.bat worked and i'm back to flashing again - I sideload copy-partitions-etc.zip and the lineage.zip and there is 'no os installed...' this happens every time, and before as well. When I 'start' from the fastboot flash mode, it starts to draw the lineage symbol, then goes back to bootloader.

LineageOS17.1Modified.img.xz
I went to Motorola website and flashed the firmware to restore the phone to its original state. I'll try lineage again in future and thank you!
