HELP! Can someone give my a fastboot or twrp flashable NPPS25.137-93-2-5 file and oreo OTA please? - Moto G5 Questions & Answers

Hello, im trying to update my phone to android 8 without custom roms, but every guide I find, has dead links, and also I didn't update to NPPS25.137-93-2-5 when it was still available, thanks.

TWRP is official available for that device
https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolamotog5.html
stock ROM can be downloaded here
https://mirrors-obs-2.lolinet.com/firmware/motorola/2017/cedric

Does blank flash mean it will erase everything?

look at the size of the file, it is only the bootloader. you need to download stock ROM according to your region, for example RETAIL or RETEU

Rare Firmware Help

My HTC 10 is network locked to Hutchison 3G Ireland.
I had flashed TWRP and SuperSU to it and also S-Offed.
Then later I got a notification for an OTA update - (1.53.771.6).
So I wanted to re-flash my original stock recovery (1.21.771.4) in order to take it
BUT... I didn't make a back up of my original stock recovery and I can't find a copy of it anywhere online.
These firmware versions seem to be unique to Hutchison 3G: 1.21.771.4 -> 1.53.771.6 -> 1.90.771.4
Any tricks on how to get this OTA without a copy of my stock recovery?
Or how to obtain my stock recovery from somewhere like htc.com?
I can find the binaries for 1.21.771.4 here: htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/, but no recovery.img within them.
Is there some simple solution I'm missing here?
I have a few ideas:
1. Flash a similar recovery version (e.g. 1.21.401.4 European Version) then take the OTA. Would this work?
2. Download the available OTA (1.53.771.6) to the phone, as normal, but don't install it.
Locate where it's stored on the phone and take the recovery.img from it.
Flash this stock recovery.img manually from fastboot.
Then manually install the rest of the firmware from this stock recovery.
Is this even possible??

There is an RUU available for you. It may be an older version but it should work because you are S OFF. You could use the RUU then take the ota. Remember if you choose to do this it will wipe everything including twrp and root so make backups.

Edit just looked and ther is 1.80.771 available which is newer than the one you are on.

You need not only the stock recovery and boot image but also an untouched stock system image if you want to take the OTA.
If you don't have backups of all of these, then start with your option 2 and download the OTA to your phone and locate where it's downloaded. From there you can install the rom portion of the update with TWRP (see the faq in the twrp thread) and flash the firmware portion manually using fastboot.
Else you can go the RUU route as mentioned above.

Thank you, an RUU is ideal.
How did you locate this btw?
This thread. Search for stiflz, thats all his RUU's. It came in handy for me not too long ago and i kept the link.

Not able to find Z2 Plus' "Stock Recovery" "Boot Image"

Hi Everyone
I have a Z2 Plus 64GB India released model running Android 7.0 and March 2017 security patch. I have unlocked bootloader, installed twrp and also rooted using su zip file.
I have made the necessary tweaks that I wanted to do with the device and want 1) unroot (I know how to do it. Not an issue), 2) Replace twrp with stock recovery. But even after searching around in different forums, I am not able to find the stock recovery image anywhere. Can anyone help me with where to find the recovery file?
Also is it enough to only replace the stock recovery or boot image also requires any re-flashing? I am not sure about this.
Appreciate your help.

Here's a screenshot of about screen.
Proof of root on oreo
Hi.Can I update my firmware if bootloader is unlocked and root is installed? If so, how?
You want to upgrade to oreo? Or just update your current firmware?
Just wondering. Are phones updated when the bootloader is unlocked?
Yes you can update phones with unlock bootloader's, if you want official updates you need the stock recovery, the twrp flashable roms i made will give you stock recovery.
Where is the stock recovery to take?
Flash any of the twrp stock roms i made and it will give you stock recovery.
Download firmware from the official website of asus, install it via twrp
and I get stock recovery with the new firmware???You don't know when to do an unofficial unlock of the bootloader?

Hi. I flashed the stock rom you uploaded because I accidentally lost mine... aside from audio/video lag issues, audio from calls were also unable to hear. Will patiently wait for your stock rom with firmware files. thaaaaanks
Go into recovery and flash the official oreo zip this will flash firmware files and fix no audio/video lag issues.

If you flash my oreo zip with no firmware and boot it up, this will give you stock recovery, which you will need to flash the stock oreo zip , and ofcourse you will need to reflash twrp after.

Global OTA 9.5.4.0 + TWRP = fail

My phone has unlocked bootloader, TWRP, and is rooted with magisk. Got the OTA for (global) 9.5.4.0 last night - it downloads/de-crypts ok, reboots into TWRP, and then fails to flash. I also tried to flash manually via TWRP by locating the downloaded file, still fails. During the night, it rebooted itself (to try again I suppose), and my alarm didn't go off.
So here I am, late in work, wasting more "work time" to ask you for a possible solution
Go back to original miui recovery then you can update your miui successfully. After update, reflash twrp and magisk.

Sounds easy, but I don't know how to do that. Could you point me in the right direction?
you can't flash an OTA with TWRP
Flash recovery img with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then boot your phone
settings->about phone->system update->update
it will get in origin miui recovery and update system automatically
after update finished, reflash twrp and magisk
Thank you very much @jimandy60
With all the respect though, I would prefer downloading the file from a popular location. Is there any way to find this hosted somewhere else, maybe by Xiaomi?

Hello!
I got the same problem but instead to come here and ask for help I tried to solve myself. I downloaded the lastest TWRP version and the device was not going into recovering mode. Then I installed again the previous one without results. I downloaded the TWRP app from Play Store and trying to solve I made wipe data, cache and I am not sure but I think also choose wipe system. Now my phone is stuck on the fastboot screen. Does not start. Using ADB I installed back the stck recovery but the problem remains. Somebody can help me please?
reflash the full rom?
download&unzip full rom package, get in fastboot mode and run flash_all.bat

22 RU HEADER error

I am trying to restore back to stock and got this 1.21.617.3_twrp zip from the Stock Guides and Stock Backups/Recovery//OTA/RUU thread.
I have matched the CID and MID and used the download mode to install but I am getting 22 RU HEADER errors. I am not sure what is going on and hoping someone might have some information on how I can correct this and get the device back on stock.
Thanks in advance

From what I understand, you are trying to flash firmware version OS-1.21.617.3, which is Marshmallow I think. Now I see that your current firmware version (from the image) is OS-3.16.617.2 which is latest Oreo.
I think the problem you are having is because you are trying to downgrade from Oreo firmware to Marshmallow.
Now since you just wanna restore to stock, I suggest that you flash complete firmware for 3.16.617.2. (Oreo). Just forget about 1.21.617.3 (Marshmallow).
From you CID, I see that BS_US001 which means it is US Unlocked
Here is the download link for the complete firmware for your HTC 10:
2PS6IMG_PERFUME_WL_O80[email protected]60322_CNV_0.77_002_release_520336_combined_signed_2.zip | by Santod Mods for HTC 10
Download GApps, Roms, Kernels, Themes, Firmware, and more. Free file hosting for all Android developers.
androidfilehost.com
Download this file (2GB approx). Then rename it exactly to 2PS6IMG.zip. Copy this to external SD Card. Put SD Card in your phone. Boot the phone to download mode. It should automatically start flashing. Let me know how it goes.
