Even my Huawei mate 40 pro and p40 Pro have the May security update. Honor is garbage, so now their new flagship is even being left behind already. What a joke.

Where is the Magic 5 Pro thread? Or can I or someone else please create it?

you can request a subforum for the Honor Magic5 Pro on XDA here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/new-device-forum-requests.1660354/
However don't get your hopes up, I already posted a request (and another person did as well) but the moderators haven't done anything yet. I think there has to be a big demand from users.

Thanks! Best wishes!

My old ZTE Axon 30 ultra just received the latest security patch. Is this some type of joke honor is doing? No need to be called honor because you don't honour anything.

I've been curious about updates to as I was looking to get the 5 Pro. Problem with Honor is they don't care about monthly security patches. We all do! Think i'll give the 5 Pro a swerve as well. What is the latest security patch do you 4 Pro owners currently have?

Two weeks ago is arrived an update of 80MB more or less: patch3 or something, i can't remember the name, so technically they're right... They don't give much importance to the google patch release unfortunately.

Current security patch?

Hi,
New here and loving my 8 Pro
I was wondering what Android security patch do you guys/girls currently have? Mine (EU version) is 5th of April, anyone got a newer one?
The April security patch is still being deployed. My phone got it less than 2 weeks ago. I think that Google has a quarterly cycle so I don't think there is anything more recent than the April level (but I might be wrong)... in any case I don't expect Huawei to roll out another SW update yet while the current rollout isn't finished.

Uhmm no. Security patches have nothing to do with the UI. They are just "patches". Once Google uploads a new one, they can just patch the framework and necessary stuff, then roll it out with a small OTA.

i quite dont get it yet,
if it was that easy, why would brands take such a risk of getting a bad reputation for not providing security patches?

I don't know. That's the way they think. Look at the Nexus line. They always receive monthly updates because it's coming directly from Google.

not really true. recall reading an article that briefly explained the process, even security patch takes time for manufacturers to update -- need to go thru chipset manufacturer, and then to phone manufacturer and carriers... what i understand, not that much difference from the regular updates.
which is why Google is trying to make things easier in Nougat.

Has Sony cut support on this phone?

Has the support been cut on this phone as well? I'm using it as a backup to my Z5 premium which had support cut. I'm seeing the last security patch was February 2018.

No, it has support until June 2019. It has had security patches "una tantum" since it was released.

As I've said before, there are updates once in a while, so you haven't reason to worry about.
If you want constant updates, you've to buy higher level Xperias.
When it will get Android P (next year) they will be forced to update monthly, because of new Google directives.

I saw the May update just came out. I already learned my lesson to not buy a high end phone from Sony. I own a Z5 premium and they cut the support right as two major vulnerabilities came out. Seems whether you buy a premium flagship phone or a midrange, they get treated equally and have support cut in just two years. Maybe I will reconsider after Android P. Thanks for the info on that. Although I really can't stand this new design trend of the xz2 series and misplaced fingerprint sensor...

[UPDATE] Honor 8X - Android Pie/ EMUI 9

I was in contact with Honor last week, EMUI 9 is scheduled for the second half of 2019. We have to wait ! (sorry for my bad english, i am french )
Your English is fine Mas8x - far better than my French! Yes, Huawei/Honor are really slow at releasing updates. I suppose it is due to them manufacturing a bewildering range of different handsets.
Jeez that is slow.
Damn!
I love this phone. However, I am starting to think I made a big mistake looking at honor phones.
2nd half of 2019 is too long.
Hello, moderators in the Indian Honor Club have repeatedly stated that Honor 8x will get Pie in the 1st week of April. They have also mentioned quite a few times that they will try to bring it even earlier.
@Mas8x your English is not at all bad. Also as Gyre8 mentioned, my French is far worse (Almost non-existence).
Lol try having a ZTE phone. You get whatever it released with, maybe a few software updates to the existing phone. So what if you aren't getting Pie immediately? Roll with Oreo till it updates and it'll update.
Relax, there are still phones which are getting Oreo as of now. So for a low-ranger like 8X, April is fair enough.
https://www.xda-developers.com/emui...se-for-honor-10-honor-play-and-honor-view-10/
Honor 10 and play, and view 10 are available to update now. Unfortunately, 8X still have to wait. But I think it will be soon after the global release.
Update started for few models. Few registering for beta now
Just FYI - received Android Pie via OTA update in Slovakia.

Nothing to indicate it's a Beta. Cannot attach a screenshot for some reason. Build number is 9.0.1.132.
Anybody know when the update is available in France ? Sorry for the English ^^
Beta is pretty stable, only thing that needs fixing so far is dual app support, so i'd soon. Probably in march.

Updated 9.0 several days ago which is so called public test version. It's disappointing cause no GMS included, and I can't find a working GMS installer for it. So, no Google play, no good. And several VPN apps don't work as well, it's very annoying as I'm in China. Wish someone can make a proper GMS installer for Android 9.

[Q] Unlocked Amazon G820QM - Updates

I've had this phone for around 3 months or so and haven't received a single update. I'm wondering if you any of you guys got any update at all?
I'm at Android Security Patch level: April 1, 2019
Kernel 4.14.83
Build PKQ1.181203.001
Software version: G820QM10a
I tried LG Bridge and the phone is recognized but when I try to check for update it says that it can't read my phones software version. It's really not a pressing issue but I'm just wondering what you guys have experienced
I have US unlocked for two months and I still haven't received any update. I have April's patch too.
Same here. If anyone ever DOES receive an update on their 820QM, please post to this thread.

Yes, I'm super disappointed too.
Yet, oneplus is doing bimonthly updates, and they've been clear about this.
That means update every two months.
For some stupid reason they release one security update late. Last update was 13 December (with the Nov security patch). That means that in approx two days they will release an update if they are on schedule. (Except the Corona situation might delay things)
Now since they release last month's security updates with every update our phone will be brought up to January security update next time.
That's keeping with their promise and the two monthly release.
Considering even Samsung the notoriously bad update king manages to push out recent security updates every month there's understandable reason to be disappointed. Although we are the ones who made assumptions about updates, so I guess we can only blame ourselves ?
They're wary of the virus spread right now in China. So work and other stuff are either halted or limited.

They're all under BBK electronics yes. (Oppo, Vivo, Realme and Oneplus) but they're seperated into different teams/offices especially OnePlus with it's OxygenOS. So people from Realme can work I think but people from OnePlus can't. It depends on where they are and their worling environment. Just wait. It'll soon be there and development on custom scene shall be A-okay okce twrp gets sorted out.

Delaying this update for Corona virus is understandable, and first thing important is the employees health.
But let's not just pretend this is one time thing. OnePlus always does this, always releases an update at the end of the month with previous months patch set and never really stay on track.
In my opinion, this is where OnePlus has fallen behind, and I think it's because they release too many phones to keep track of.
Oh FFS........ China is under siege from a deadly virus and people are dying right now. Because of the virus large numbers of Chinese did not return to work after their New Year,
factories are shut or are shutting and this is already having an impact for the tech industries around the world and people here are moaning about updates as if their devices will explode if they don't get updated right now. GET REAL !!
Is this really what XDA is these days?

You should try visiting the OnePlus forum. I think every second or third post is someone whining about the security update being late.
Aside from being disgusted by the colossal self-centeredness of so many people *****ing about a damned phone update while people in the phone's country of origin are literally dying, I can't help but wonder WTF these people are doing with their phones to make them that paranoid.
