How to Disable Auto-Formatting of SDcard on a OTG USB Card Reader? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Whenever I attach my USB card reader (via an OTG USB adapter) with an SDcard (taken from my camera) the card would automatically gets formatted by my S9 phone, thereby wiping out the card's content.
How do I disable this auto-formatting behavior?
TIA.

sd card unmounts from pc while connected via usb

when i connect the phone to pc via usb it opens the sd card folder normally. after a while the folders dissappear and when i go to my computer it shows no usb device. the sd card unmounts on itself after a while which prevents me from copying anything of more than maybe 25mb to the sd card.
I have same problem. The only workaround is to put your sd card into a card reader adapter to put into your usb plug.

Insert your microsd. In settings go to storage and have the tab format it then you are done. Use your file manager app of choice to transfer files to the extsd. In your file manager, your extsd may be labeled sd1 where internal is sd0.

Thanks, Johnny, I went to "Setting-Storage" and didn't see any external storage sd but the inserted SD cd, I don't want to format my inserted SD CD, I then tried the APP (File Command) but it only showing the inserted SD CD again with no sd0 or sd1 to choose from.
I think may be I am using a non-OTG compatible flash drive, I am using a regular USB flash drive + a USB to Micro USB adapter to simulate the micro usb flash drive. Thanks again.

Is your adapter a samsung product or rated for samsung? I ask cause sammy has a slightly different pin configuration for data. I didn't think generic micro usb adapters work. I'm not a 100% sure if this is the case with our tab, but it was in the old days with the s3 (I had to use their usb to hdmi adapter or one made for samsung products)

I'm not exactly sure, what you are trying to do. What is a "SD CD"? I just use a generic micro-USB OTG and attach a USB flash drive. I then get a notification that USB mass storage is attached and the USB Drive then shows up as UsbDriveA in the file manager.

Thanks for the reply. The "SD CD" means a Micro SD memory card that you insert into the Micro SD card slot on the side of the tab. If you are using a Micro-USB OTG flash drive then that's the answer what I need, I went ahead ordered a Micro-USB OTG flash drive yesterday to use with my Tab S. Thanks.

PC can't see SD Card

When I connect phone to PC and enable MTP I don't see SD Card in Explorer, only internal storage. Phone can access the card just fine. How to fix this?
EDIT: SD Card was faulty.

USB SD card reader that works with Moto G 5G Plus?

Can anyone recommend an adapter that I can use to read an external MicroSD card on a Moto G 5G (UK model)? I have a couple of OTG adapters which I've tried (they were for micro-USB slots so I used a micro-USB to USB-C adapter), but neither of them will read a micro SD card in a USD/SD Card adapter (the card doesn't get detected as a storage device doesn't get recognised by file manager apps like Solid Explorer).
The internal card slot is already in use, and I want a quick way to read a card externally without having to remove the internal card.
