Unable to Unlock Bootloader Redmi 5A - Xiaomi Redmi 5A Questions & Answers

Hello everyone
I'm stuck in a horrible situation here if someone might be able to help would be a great help.
So basically I want to Unlock my phones bootloader but it happens to be that the Phone network is broken, I mean there is some issue with the motherboard where even If you insert a Sim it shows No SIM as. So I've been using this device just for surfing Yt and stuff.
So when I try to unlock the bootloader by going into the Developer option > Unlock Status and it needs a SIM card inserted to add device and account.
Is there a work around to bypass this.
What I have tried so far using MI unlock tool but it throws error.

Issues flashing a locked T-Mo Wing

Ok, so I'm sure someone will say this has been answered 100 times but I can't find it in the forums.
I have a locked T-Mobile Wing. I tried entering unlock codes but I guess I entered wrong codes enough that it's really locked. It boots to a screen asking for the Password to unlock (only shows a numpad on screen) and Active Sync won't connect to it (it says I have to unlock the device before it connects).
Hence, I'm not able to run the ROM loader tools which require me to install a CAB file on the device first.
Anyone have a solution to this?

you could just call tmobile and tell them what happened?
I'm sure they might have a way to unlock it.

Yeah.... I bought the phone on eBay. T-Mo says I need to be the original customer in order for them to provide me an unlock code.

Can I view unlock code after it's unlocked?

Is there a way or app that I can use on this phone so that I can view my SIM Unlock Code AFTER the phone is already SIM Unlocked?
I ask because I bought two of these phones unlocked and would like to have the Unlock codes saved just in case I need them later.
Somehow I seem to have messed up or lost my unlock on one of the phones after I rooted it and flashed a new recovery / rom.
It was unlocked, now, If I put an ATT sim in it asks for my unlock code again and I do not have it, as the phone was unlocked when I got it.
Though, when I press *#7465625# to it says all the locks are turned off, like my phone should be unlocked?
Any idea why it is asking for my unlock code again, and if there is a way to get around it being that the phone was unlocked?
Is there a way to recover this unlock code?
Thanks guys!

Currently there isn't a way to view the code. Several of us have been digging through the system of the device to see where it's coded too. the thread here is where it's being conversed about. click here
How do you know for certain the phones were unlocked when you bought it? Did you try swapping Sims before you flashed anything to it?
I have mine unlocked and have flashed; two roms, cwm, a radio, and a few mods......still unlocked. I constantly swap Sims between my crap work phone and my Samsung, always works.

The person I bought both phones from told me they were both unlocked.
The first one I tried worked, the second one I never tried an ATT Sim until after I rooted, flashed, etc and then it wouldn't work.
He emailed just emailed me the Unlock codes for both phones and they work fine.
Either way, it's all good now. Thanks for the help guys!

Accidentally locked bootloader

Alright guys, I was trying to fix my fingerprint (which I ended up doing) by flashing the global dev ROM 7.8.31 via fastboot with the miflash tool but I accidentally locked the bootloader while doing so. My phone came with the bootloader unlocked and now I can no longer unlock the bootloader. in developper options, the OEM unlocking option is enabled but no matter what I do in fastboot, the process simply does not work. I get the remote token verification has failed message. I have tried every freakin guide out there but my phone now refuses to get unlocked. I can't flash anything with miflash tool anymore, it just says failed, even when trying to flash the global dev 7.8.31 ROM. Anyone can help me here? Xiaomi says my device is unsupported for unlocking yet it was unlocked from the start........
What i did was the official unlock guide from xiaomi where you will get the code from them. Sadly you have to wait for 3days to be able to unlock them again.
Well check this thread...

You can reapply if you got rejected

Well I did that but it kept on saying I had too many IP requests of sorts but I used TunnelBear and set my location to Hong Kong and that allowed me to bypass that and the request was passed through. Surprisingly, I got a message 4 hours later that said I was able to unlock it instead of the 2-7 days it took for most people to get theirs
Same happened to me. I re-lock bootloader to install android pay, and bricked my phone.
Have to reboot in EDL mode (after >50 tries) and flash again.
But... Flashed a locked bootloader version, so i have to request for official unlock (phone came unlocked)
Now I have unlocked bootloader, with Magisk and Safety Net module with Android Pay working fine.
PS: i also had the IP problem. Used a Chinese proxy to override restriction.

Unlocked bootloader. (Oem unlock) now my pixel so won t recognize sim.

So I followed instructions on how to unlock bootloader on my pixel xl. And now I'm unable to connect to my network. I put the sim card in and it doesn't recognize it. I've tried multiple times to restart phone with no luck. So I did this last night and the only solution was to hard reset the phone once more. But that untenable that oem unlock function! So I unlocked it once more just now and I'm in the same situation! Should I proceed by unlocking oem and than do a hard reset? I'm not really sure how to proceed from here if someone could give me some insight i would really really appreciate it!!!

Are you saying that it isn't recognizing your SIM, and saying there is no SIM inserted, or are you saying that it's simply not applying the right APN settings and so you can't get cellular data and such
hi , its easy , just remove your sim card , and flash the phone again
Once you OEM unlock your phone a hard reset should not relock your phone. The only way your phone should relock is by using issuing the command OEM lock or OEM flashing lock.
There is an issue with some phones and systems where the "allow OEM unlocking" check box will come unchecked, this doesn't mean the phone is relocked though.
I got it figured out thanks! Now I'm just trying to install twrp but I'm not having much luck lol

You have to boot to TWRP from fastboot with the TWRP image file and then flash TWRP from within that recovery.

Question Unlock bootloader without mobile network

Hello, i have this issue. I have trouble with my phone. It doesn't recognize any simcard anymore. I installed a new sim-tray no solution. I want to try to downgrade the MIUI system or flash a custom ROM to try if this helps, but the bootlocker is locked. I tried to unlock, have a Xiaomi account but can't unlock it. I have to add phone via devlopper tools-->mi unlockstatus but this only works with mobile data and not with wifi. The phone is listed in my Xiaomi account. Is there an other way to unlock the bootloader ??? Or anyone knows a solution ?

You always need mobile data to unlock bootloader in Mi phones.
hey,
if the phone is listed in your xiaomi account it may just work.
you can always try it, grab that miunlock tool and login with your phone number+pass, boot the phone into the android/mibuny page and see if the tools lets you proceed without doing the devtools part.
