WAP Push - Windows Mobile Software Development

I'm trying to create an application to run on the XDA device. This
application is to be triggered by a WAP Push message sent to the phone.
How can the application be registered to receive the WAP Push message,
instead of the message going to a WAP browser?
From the WAP specs, it seems that an application ID is required, which
is sent in the WAP Push message, received by the Session Application
Initiator (SAI) on the phone and routed (according to this application
ID) to the appropriate application.
Is there an API which is available on the XDA, which makes this
possible?

Rogers Canada MMS/SMS/GPRS Settings?
Hi sorry if I sound like a real newbie but I am. I have only used a Blackberry for the last 5 years and nothing else.
I currently have a Blackberry on Rogers in Canada, and will be getting my Dash tomorrow, I will unlock it with imei-check, what else do I need to do in order to have it work like my blackberry, I get my email from a couple pop accounts and my work outlook which does support owa web mail. right now I sync my calendar and contacts with desktop manager.
Is it worth installing BB Connect and just get my emails like on my blackberry or is it better it use the Dash email tools? when using the Dash can I change my reply to address depending on the email account I recieved the email in?
How do I find my rogers settings for MMS/SMS/GPRS??
Thanks for any help! This forum is awesome!

You should be able to point your ActiveSync server to your OWA server at work. Generally that works just like your BBerry if you enable Push Email (under the comm manager on your dash).
Thanks I tried that, but it won't let me sync to the owa server for some reason, most likely my it guys have blocked it.
I installed BB Connect and it wirks for receiving but I can not send it is greyed out.
here are the settings:
Click Start/Settings/Connections/GPRS
click Menu, choose Add

I've entered all the settings you've listed and have been able to send an MMS, but cannot receive. Any thoughts as to why? It appears that the device won't connect to retrieve any messages.

It appears the problem was with my SIM card the whole time. I can't receive MMS on any phone, Rogers branded or not. Once I put my wife's SIM int he phone, the normal settings I've been trying worked perfectly the first time.
GPRS usage monitor that works?
Can someone tell of any GPRS usage monitor programs that work on the Excalibur?
Never mind.
I found out that Efficasoft makes a special version for the DASh and some other phones here:
http://www.efficasoft.com/gprsmonitor_w.html
efficasoft
smartphone gprs traffic monitor
ver. 3.51w
I'vwe noticed that even when not having anything coming in, the counter slowly creeps up.
Never mind.
I was reading it wrong. I've only used 1.74Kb.
The other figure was the projected month usage at the current rate.
did anyone managed to get the today plugin working in other homescreens?

There must be a way around this!

Hey folks! I have an HTC Hermes running WM6 with wap connection (behind Proxy). I've been facing two problems with my connection every since I started using HTC products:
1) I cannot setup my Gmail account on outlook. I have tried every possible way, and I read so many threads but nothing seems to work.
2) Weather on HTC Homeplug doesn't work, even on the N2A patched one.
I hope those problems are solvable. I think it has something to do with my wap connection( I live in lebanon, using ALFA service, if any lebanese guys are reading this and have made those two things work, please post the settings/work around)
I appreciate any help and thanks in advance....
I'm not living in Lebanon but I have a Hermes device and I had no trouble at all setting up my gmail account, it even grabs the settings automatically. I don't know where your problem is stuck but it could be in the proxy settings.
sure everything can be solved. which ROM are you using and which Radio version?
I'm using Schap's 4.31 and radio 1.16.00.00
however i dont think it has anything to do with those things, i'm positive it's a matter of proxy settings
Are you sure the PROXY you defined is used for INTERNET?
most service providers use the PROXY for WAP only.
Call your service provider and ask them
I think you`ll get the answer from them.
I know it's for wap only, isn't there a way to make those things work over wap though?

It depends if your service provider allows it.
here in Israel we have one provider that allows access to the WWW using the WAP protocol and another Provider that blocks all DATA other then their own WAP site.
I checked the connection setup app on my device and found that it has the settings for <Lebanon/Alfa>. I think if you use this application, you might not be in need to setup any proxy.
if nothing works for you, then -as elivne said- calling your customer service would be a good solution
PS be careful with your mobile bill!

GMail Help

i getting an error message all of sudden
The following errors occurred while sending and receiving messages:
The message(s) cannot be sent. Be certain that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct and then try again.
Any ideas why i'm getting this??
i believe its on googles side. they just rolled out a new version of gmail and ive even had some issues with webmail as well as my phone not being able to connect
its been a couple of days, will this issue be fixed or will i have to use something else..
no idea..i dont work for google.
Works fine for me now (GMail).
Is your gmail set up to check via IMAP or POP3? Mine's set for IMAP and I haven't had any trouble sending or receiving gmail since I set it up. I ask coz it might be a problem with Google's POP servers.
I am running IMAP on Gmail and appear to have no issues.
im running IMAP
and still having the issues.

Make sure that you have both "Outgoing server requires authent.." and "use the same name and password for sending..." checked.
I would assume username and password are correct? That you have the "save password" checked?
Can you receive just fine? Just not send correctly, right?
doesn't the username have to be something like " recent: [email protected]" or is that for pop3 only?
yea, i can receive correctly just not send
all my settings are correct
should i just delete and redo?
Gmail, non responsive
I had trouble getting Gmail to work too...
Did the renaming work-around, settings all looked good, but it ended up working for me by:
switch to "Work" instead of "The Internet"
in the "Advanced Server Settings"
on the "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server:" page

Was this required to get it to work with GPRS/EDGE? I think mine only works with Wifi, so I'm thinking this may be my issue.
i simply use gmail app with lnk at start menu...lean and fast

Kavana ROM proxy settings: new-inet / new-corp ?

I asked this n another thread, but no joy.
I installed the latest Kavana ROM, works GREAT. Thanks for that.
But, some questions.
I'd like to understand how all the networks and proxy things work.
I understand how proxy servers work for the PC world, but I don't understand all the various connections and proxies on the smartphone.
I'm on T-mobile, and I used the connection wizard. But then MMS and SMS weren't working quite right, so I applied some other settings from some other posts and right now, it all (IE, SMS, MMS) seems to work.
But, I am not at all confident I could reproduce this if I had to flatten the device again. Is there something I can read to understand the relative significance of all the various named networks: "work" "TMobile MMS" "Tmobile Data" "WAP Network" "Secure WAP Network" and "The Internet" and also the various proxies that route to these various networks?
Do I really need all the connections - I have like 7 of them.
The new-inet:1118 proxy - what is that for?
That hostname, is it really meaningful?
I also have a new-corp:1159 proxy,
with a name of HTTP:{3F31657F... (etc etc guid)}
What is THAT thing for?
I'd feel better if I understood all these settings, when and why I need a proxy. etc etc . thanks for pointers.
Anyone know?
Anyone know the answer to this? anyone have any clues to offer me?
I'm also having trouble w/ the MMS after installing Ricky's ROM. Are you able to pull the MMS settings from your phone and share? Otherwise, does anyone else know all of the settings?

These cryptic settings come from active sync. I see them if I allow my DASH to sync with my office Windows XP machine with networking enabled. and my office trys to use the network my Dash is on. Once these entries are created, I can not use my t-mo net connection (cheap version). But it is all fine, once I delete these unknown entries.
My MMS Settings
Here's what I did to get MMS to work, in and out.
I am using Kavana 1.33 ROM.
1. set up 2 connections:
Start...Settings....Connections....GPRS
Now, either add a New item, or edit an existing one.
Description: T-Mo Web or T-Mo Data or something else similarly descriptive
Connects to: The Internet
Access point: internet2.voicestream.com
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Authentication Type: None
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Address: <blank>
Done
[the above gets you a connection to the Internet ]
Again, either add a New item, or edit an existing one.
Name: T-Mo WAP or T-Mo MMS or something descriptive
Connects To: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.net
[everything else as above]
Done
[the above gets you a connection to the T-mobile WAP network]
Done
[you are in Settings...Connections, now.]
2. set up one proxy
Scroll to "Proxy"
[this is also reachable directly from home screen via: Start...Settings....Connections....Proxy]
New.... or Edit an existing (your preference)
Name: Tmo WAP->Internet
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects To: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Done
[the above sets up a proxy connection for your SMS/MMS]
Done
[you are in Settings...Connections, now.]
3. Set up SMS preferences
Scroll to "SMS Service"
[this is also reachable directly from home screen via: Start...Settings....Connections....SMS Service]
SMS over: GPRS Preferred
Done
[your are now back in Settings...Connections]
Pess the red "call end" button.
[you are now back on the home screen]
4. Set up MMS on the device:
Start...Messaging
scroll to MMS
Menu...Settings...
Menu (again)
MMSC Settings
Menu...New or Menu....Edit (your pleasure).
[the settings for this MMSC thing should be:]
Name: whatever you like, I used "Picture Messaging"
MMSC URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Connect Via: WAP Network
Max. Sending Size: 300k (or whatever you prefer)
WAP version: WAP 2.0
Done
Done
Done
HOME
5. set up IE
Start...Internet Explorer
Menu...Tools...Options...Connections
Automatically Detect Settings - This works either way for me, checked or unchecked
Select network: The Internet.
Done
Done
----
All of the above allows me to send out SMS and MMS messages, and receive in such messages, as welll as surf the internet from IE.
I have the $19.99/month T-Mobile internet plan in the USA.
If you have the $5.99 T-zones plan, then I think your settings may be different.
Search elsewhere for that.

Are you sure? Are you sure those things come from ActiveSync and are not just in the Kavana ROM? I use Windows Vista, and the Windows Mobile Device Center, which is the replacement for Activesync. I have never used WinXP and ActiveSync (on the PC) with this device, but I did have those weird entries. I don't see those odd proxy entries get recreated when I sync with Vista+WMDC.
I assuming that the odd proxy entries that reference "new-corp" and "new-inet", were just "in" the ROM by default. Or maybe they were set up when I ran the Internet Connection Wizard which is in the ROM. I don't know for sure. This is why I am asking you, ARE YOU SURE that those entries come from ActiveSync?
Do they return *every time* you sync?
In any case, lacking any real response from the board, I removed the proxy entries from my device, and for me at least, everything still works - SMS, MMS, Internet, etc.
I hate the fact that this still feels so mysterious.
-Cheeso
Damn. I put in all of these settings exactly as shown and still get an "Error Synchronizing" message when I try and send/receive MMS messages. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm on T-Mobile, $20 plan w/ Ricky's 6.1.

Zimbra Zpush sync problem

Hope someone can help in my configuring push on LG G3.
We are using Zimbra community version. We setup a zpush server to be able to push email to android devices. Previously, when using HTC One, my configuration was the following:
account name: [email protected]
pasword: xxxx
server: bis.nxx.xx:8086
domain: nxx.xx
uncheck ssl
if asked, select "accept all certificates"
It will detect the account, and sync, and give me push.
I don't know why with almost the same setting ( I cannot put a port number in bis.nxx.xx, but I placed it in another port box), account is created, but it won't sync. I can send, and the other party will receive the email. Though there is nothing in my inbox, and nothing on my sent box even after successfully sending an email.
Hope someone can help.
