Unable to upgrade from T-Mobile 4.01.00 to 1.60.00? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

When I click upgrade, the program reboots my phone, kills ActiveSync, and tries to upgrade. It says "Checking the information on your Pocket PC... Please wait ..." for about a minute, appears to flash the phone, but then errors out to a message saying there has been a problem, disconnect your Pocket PC, reboot, and run program again. Well, same thing happens over and over. Am I missing something here?

Are you sure what you are doing????
Thinking you´re using an "old" XDA I an dthe software 1.60 is fpor the XDA II.

Stefan

How to fix GSM Error Problem ....
Download the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1.
Install the ROM on your Device via SD-Card and bootloader.
The phone should start up and give you the screen allignment and the whole menu!
Download an Upgrade for your device. This depends ont the model you are using. Check the sticker at the back of your device.
If it is a PW10A-Model download RSU Version 4.16.
If it is a PW10B-Model download RSU Version 6.24.20.
Extract the downloaded ZIP-File and copy all files to the /Windows directory of your device.
Copy the RSUpgrade.exe additional to the /windows/startup directory.
Make an soft reset of your device.
Maybe the upgrade will stop again at 1%, this may occur when you have an empty battery.
Place your device in the cradle. Run Active Sync on your device.
The RSU Upgrade will run in the background.
Wait for about 10 Minutes. The upgrade should complete in the background....
Afterwards all should work again...
Good luck....

Help / Advice Needed Regarding o2 Rom Upgrade for XDA IIi

Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading my rom using the rom upgrade from the o2 www site.
Its been stuck on the
'checking the information on your device....Please wait.....Please do not disconnect your device from the PC or power supply until the upgrade is complete'
window for some time now. I dont know if its hung / crashed or in the middle of upgrading.
I dont want to chance it by removing the unit from the sync cradle but at the same time i dont wanna just leave it there for hours if its not doing anything.
Can anyone help ?
Steve
ps - the window I am speaking about came after the big window stating what your current rom / radio stack was and what they would be updated to giving you the option to click 'update' or 'cancel' I chose 'update' and got the message which I described earlier
Try this on a different PC...I'm assuming the phone itself is still functioning.
I had this a while back with the XDA2 and found that by attempting the upgrade on a laptop I had, it worked great without the hang.
I would then remove ASync completely (including registry items) and then reinstall it.
Cheers
Ant
I had this happen, I just shut down and restarted the installer program

problem with upgrading to pdav6.1

The bootloader that I use freezes. I wait 2 hours for it to upload, and when I close the program I get the prompt that says the progran is not responding. I am using a bootloader by chrismrulz, someone in another forum. It is called just "bootloader". I have windows XP on my laptop and wm5 on my hx4700. I follow his instructions in trying to upgrade it. I would like to know what methods people are using here to upgrade their pdas.
Update: I have tried again and this time the program didn't freeze. It did say that it failed to syncronize with device. I used the same usb connection that I use activesync on.

excaliber freezes at tmobile screen, but

I can't get it to connect via activesync on xp or mobile device center on a Win 7 machine. I can get the screen that tells you to hit send button to reset, but that does nothing as it goes back to tmobile window. I can also run the oem rom update (get 226 error at 8%) and rom's from this site (get 270 error at 3%), even though my dash never shows up in the sync apps. Trying to run the auto.bat, app unlock, etc. don't work as my computer says to connect to the device, which I am, but again activesync doesn't see it.
any ideas on how to upgrade this phone?
thnx

With your phone disconnected from the PC, try this:
-Open your start menu, select "settings", then go to the "connections" tab
-Select the "USB to PC" icon
-The first check box you see there will say "Enable Faster data synchronization".... you need to UNcheck that box. Hit "ok" and close out
-Try reconnecting the phone to the pc and see if it recognizes it now.
I know it sounds a little counter-intuitive to take that step, but it seems to clear this problem up for a lot of people

have you tried installing from an SD card, that may alleviate problems.
Install the enablerapinew.cab that cmonx puts out for exactly this situation.
Install on your sd card, run the cab, then try and hardSPL again. It worked for me when I was having similar situations.
