Unlocking IPAQ h6315 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi there,
Was wondering if this XDA would have any hope of unlocking a h6315 / t-mobile? Worth a shot?
Thanks

I got one over the weekend and its great except for 1 problem  I have AT&T and this is T-Mobile locked as you all know. Does anyone know how I can and when there should be a way of doing this? Is it just a matter of me asking a friend w/ a T-Mobile acct to call and get unlock codes? How do you enter this code. Thanks for any help as although I have been using PPCs for years this is my first step into a PPC/Phone device like the h6315.

BT Stack from HP6315
Is there any way that you can share BT Stack from your HP6315 with us, please?

Sure just tell me how to get the stack off so I can post for u guys? And of course lead me in the direction of how I can unlock if you know.

That would be great!
I am not sure what files we exactly need, but if you be so kind and just copy content of your Windows folder, zip it up and upload to my ftp it would be awesome!
Also, there is maybe folder in your Program Files called Bluetooth or maybe Widcomm (not sure about that)
Please, upload to my FTP
ID64.serveftp.com
akira/akira
For unlocking: I'll just wait a little and see what XDAdev have to say about it. You could try XDAUNLOCK tool, but it kind of risky, since those units are not exactly the same.
Thanks in advance for you time and effort taking those files to us!

Fellow XDA2 users.
LET"S FIGURE OUT THIS BLOODY BT THING!
I'll post in separate topic when files are up so everyone can try to adopt this HP stack.

PPL, PLEASE DON:T ABUSE MY FTP SERVER
There is nothing in there yet. I'll let you know when files are up
Thank you.

Ok so I got home last night and tried to copy my Windows folder to my PC to zip up and FTP to u but it kept popping up with a sharing violtation due to the device being active even though I was copying. Anyway if someone knows the exact files to upload or another way to do this please let me know as I want to help the cause

First of all - THANK YOU very much for taking time and trying to help us
How are trying to copy those files? I am guessing, via ActiveSync connection. In this case you might have 'sharin violation" problem.
Do you have a SD card? Please, try to copy files with File Explorer or Resco Explorer and then copy them from SD to yout PC and zip them up.
Also, please take a look at your support CD. There is maybe the folder with ROM backup in there.
Thanks again!

i just got an h6315 from compusa in san jose
Same problem, need to unlock it.
No SD card here, is there any other way to get the files to you that you guys need?
Feel free to contact me via AIM as "ecsrun2"
So far I like the device, but i want it to work for ATT, not T-MOBILE!!

Any help needed on getting the BT stack of the IPAQ
I'm incredibly keen to get my hands on that BT stack also. Let me know if you need any help. Anyway, copying the entire contents of the Windows folder is the right thing to do.
Good luck!

If you brought it sim free then tmobile should give you the unlock code without any problems. Give them a ring and ask, what have you got to lose?

No one can buy the 6315 SIM free. This is a device that is lock to T-Mobile and they have an exclusivity (Spelling?) contract for the next 3 months. The ones that CompUSA sells are for T-Mobile as an authorized T-Mobile Reseller.
There may be sim free models sold elsewhere in the world but not in the US. This is typically why phones are a little cheap. The provider subsidizes the phone purchase by locking you into a 1 or 2 year contract.

Can you check what is included in the supported CDs please?
Can you please also try to use "Explore" button on ActiveSync to copy and paste Windows, Program Files and(if exist) Widcomm directories, zip it and upload to ID64's FTP.
It would help us a lot...
Thanking you in advance.

it wont let me copy the windows folder
no matter what method i try, i get a sharing violation area, etc
Any ideas?

there was no 'rom' backup or anything even close that on the CD

thank you for your kidness to help us
Is there any didicated directory for Widcomm?

Can you also try this link:
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
and check what kind of software is available.
This link can be used only with SN of device.
Thank you

there is no older by that name in either /windows or in the program files directory

TomTOM 5 not saving settings

Hi guys and gals,
I've recently upgraded my XDA IIs to the latest iMate software. I've then re-installed tomTom 5 with the upgrade to version 5.1
Now my tomtom won't save any of my settings. So i can input my Home and favourties etc... shut down tomtom and then when i go back in, i have to accept the agreement again, and none of my settings are there.
Is anyone else having this problem? and more importantly - does anyone know what the fix is for this?
Thanks all
tcs44_uk - Are you installing from an SD Card? If you are check that the files are unlocked before you copy them onto the SD card or it will act as you have described.
I too had the same problem with a legit purchased copy from TomTom. Someone on another forum advised me to copy the files to the PC, unlock them, copy them back to the SD card the re-install - hey presto works a treat.
HTH
I have nearly the same problem. My settings stay, but favorite and base are gone after a few uses :
I record the base and a few favorites, I exit TT5 using the "quit" icon. When I restart it, the base & favorites are still there (so they are correctly recorded : the file is not locked, and the SD card not Read Only).
After a few runs (I have not been able to check how many, or what can cause that), they're all gone : no base and no favorite.
All I store in POI never disappear, so my work-around is to place all favorite and base in POI.
Tomtom support is ZERO. They have pre-formatted message they send not reading the whole problem, and it is impossible to reply, 'cause the case is closed after their crappy answer.
OhBuggerit2k2, how do I tell if the files are locked?
I have the same problem, TT5 will not remember any favourites when restarted.
I have the files on my computer, how do I check they are not locked?
Thanks Guys
Ginnser
Which files??
I also have this problem.....
does anyone know which file(s) it is that hold the info regarding:
Home location
Favourites
and all the other personal settings
would appreciate any help,
Thanks,
Alan
i had a similar issue & resolved it by changing the settings on the file with extension .cfg from read only. i had 2 copy the file 2 my desktop change the settings then saving back 2 xda2i.
i have a problem with tomtom where it throws me out...any1 know how 2 sort it?
Thanks guys - after copying all of the TomTom files back to PC, taking off the Read Only flag, and then copying the files back - all working fine now.
Cheers
hi guys
I cannot seem to find the .cfg file !

also had a quick check, i dont seem to have any read only files !

Copy the .CAB files to your memory card with a card reader (gps.cab, pimaddin.cab, ttn.cab, wzd.cab) then copy across your intended map. Fire up file explorer and run each of the .CAB files by tapping them - Soft reset and you should be good to go Info on setting up the GPS receiver can be found here, just use the search function and all will become clear! Hope this helps...

got it working now have problem with bluetooth receveir and com ports :

Moving SMS to new device

I am upgrading from a PPC2003 device to a WM5 device.
Does anyone one where the files relating to SMS text files both in and out are stored (presumably in the Windows directory somewhere) please as I would like to move them to the new device if possible.
Many thanks
Brian Leach
As far as I know they are stored in a database. And there are quite few (commercial) backup solutions available. But try to search the forum, I remember a small and free solution being posted here. (Btw: it's always good for the community if you post your solution here once found.)
I think I have a software which can backup SMS to move from old device to new device or from new version to new version.
I've tried, I sure that it works very well.
You will try it
Ahh! I forgot that, I have file .exe for installing from your computer. And other one to run direct
Many thanks.
I'll give them a try.
Brian Leach
Tried both zip files and neither will run under xp
Should they be run from the device or what am I doing wrong please.
Thanks

Creating a ROM image

Hi all
From some research i've been doing i think i need to create a ROM image but i'll tell you my problem and let you recomend me a solution.
Basically i need to setup 30 PDA's (XDA Argon's running WM5.0) These PDA's will be running a program called service director and also have TOMTOM installed. What i need to be able to do is be able to create an "image" that i can just copy to each PDA to speed up deployment. It would also be useful should there be any problems in the field with the PDA's that they could just be hard reset back to their modified state after deployment. E.g with Service Director and TomTom installed. I have found out that if i create a folder on a memory card with a directory name of 2577 and put my .cabs in there that they will automatically be installed on insertion of the card. This could also be beneficial to me, but i don't think that it would be robust enough, especially if they drop the device and put their memory card back in after its popped out.
So what do you think my best options would be?
Thanks for any help in advance and if you need any info, just let me know.
Thanks
Andy

do the 2577 option but create an autorun program that installs the cab files and then deletes the 2577 folder, thus it wont re-install when the cab is re-inserted
That's ok, but then the engineer would then have to send the card back to us so that we could set it up again. E.g the card would only allow them to set the software back up once and then they would have to send the PDA back to us for us to reconfigure it should it go wrong again. We can't really afford to do this as they need the PDA to find their next job/update jobs etc and can't really afford to have it sent back to us everytime it goes wrong.
well there is currently no way flashing custom ROM's to the xda argon (HTC Panda?) and wont be until one or more devs get thier hands on one so burining it into the rom isnt an option. the only thing I can think of is to have it ask if you want to install the software when it is inserted rather than doing it automatically.
I didnt think it wouldve been available yet. Oh well, looks like i'll have to make it do it via the memory card for the moment. Like all brilliant companies mine just told me, here's what we want, now go and make it happen! Haha!
I take it the card will need to have some kind of .inf file on it to ask you whether you want to install it or not. I would try it, but my company havent even given me the PDA to play with yet.
All i have is an SPV M500(My own old phone) and knowing my luck, they won't work the same with the software we're using.
In that case, why dont you have the autorun RENAME the folder instead of delete it. Your users should then be able to rename it back in case of need (they should be able to do that!), and do the insert sd card thing.

Why not on original installation have it delete the file from the folder and also have in the same folder a IE web shortcut to the original file on a Company server that would allow them to download the file again into the same folder, assuming they would have an internet connection and the file is not too large to download and you can direct the download to that particular folder?
They could then take out the card and re-insert it to automatically install the program again.
Maybe a poopoo idea, but I guess worth a thought?
Good luck
C
the autorun folder is the same for all devices with wm5/6 so thats fine and you would haev to write a progra to do it, not an inf.
if you cant do it yourself im sure someone else on the forum wouldnt mind for a modest donation (myself included)

4GB SDHC card on WM5 XDA Orbit

Hi Everyone,
I have Xda Orbit by O2 bought in 2007, used it for only few months and since then it's been sat there in the box, have just started using it again and needed to put a bigger card (I have never used any memory card in it, and it dosn't even detect my SanDisk 4gb SDHC), now after all the search, it says i'd have to put a newer version of windows mobile in it, mine one is on WM5.
O2's website won't provide me with an update as they only have new XDA's listed on their website. upon my research i have found out on this forum that by putting this file called "SDHC-Artemis.cab" would make SDHC 4gb up and running, now the question is will this .cab file work on WM5? Where from i get it and how do i install it?
Plus any suggestions on how can i upgrade my WM5 to WM6 as i don't have any genuine copy of it, are the ones available around some cracked versions or something?
Many thanks in advance!!!
did u get your phone from the UK??
try this thread....I just flashed it today, works perfectly!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455130
You may want to upgrade the radio rom to 3.34.90
...and I have no idea about the SDHC issue.
Thanks Klee, Yes i bought the phone from UK around Jan, 2007. Just called O2people but they said they can't do anything, which was very bad, and we can't even go to the manufacturer.
Sony Erricsson provides 3 years manufacturer's warranty even after your service provider stops.
well, have you tried putting in any bigger memory card after you have put WM6 in your phone?
which installation process did you follow, any tips? shall i use AutoSync which came with the phone originally?
Many Thanks for your help, Much Appreciated!!!!
by the way Would i have to Crack this windows or is it ready to go or something?
Basically first install activesync, run activesync and connect your phone to the computer
wait until your phone finishes syncing and all that, double click the exe file you downloaded in the thread I gave you earlier.... follow the instructions, after ~10 minutes, a working wm6 phone!
This is the official upgrade, so there is no need to unlock the phone first.
about the sdhc issue....I've never tried anything over 1GB, as I don't have the need for a bigger card, so I've no idea. I believe there is an SDHC cab somewhere floating around here, try searching for it
Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot mate,
this surely and definitely is helpful, i have downloaded the file, but haven't put it on the phone yet, as i don't have any spare phone for "just in case".
once i get a cheap standby phone i'll install it, very much looking forward to it.
and yes, i have thoroughly searched about the SDHC issue, and there is a patch available which i'll run once i have got WM6 sorted!
Kind Regards!!
Xda orbit rom download link please
Hi did u flush your xda orbit with windows mobile 6 if yes which one because on the site it don’t show the xda orbit, (which rom shall I select) , if yes can u provide the link to download the rom please, also after flushing with wm6 lot of people on the forum claiming problem with wifi, gps, and Bluetooth one or the other , have u had any problem with any of this, please help will be appreciated thanks
Hi klee,
I have managed to put the newer version of windows you suggested onto my phone, and it seems to work fine, have got my 4gb MicroSD card working too, by the help of above .Cab file i mentioned. can't manage to stream videos despite of trying several different utilities, i have installed .Net framework as well but still can't run the Cab files, any suggestions?
Best Regards,
Ahsan
