Hey guys, just entered the world of developing for my new SPVM1000 and will be doing some work on the XDA2. Any advice on accessorises that I may need for development. I have all the stuff that came with the devices. any thing else that would be cool
wikked !-)

Memories
256/512 SD Card would be cool
Wi-Fi SD if your planning on doing any Wi-Fi Dev.
XDA Backpack , if your planning of doing any dev for that to.

Tech-Ed and WM 5.0: no news yet.......

Hey guys,
Better start a new thread where people can write off their tension while they're waiting for MrHappy to return from the depths of Tech-Ed to bring us the gift of WM 5.0... I think there are a lot of people watching his thread, and everytime someone posts something like "man I can't wait to see this!", all the others go "wow, new message, MrHappy's back!!!".
So... if anyone has anything else to say while we're rooting for MrHappy to take his ROM dump... go ahaid. Let's hope he gets back quickly so there won't be a lot of answers.
MrHappy, upon your victorious return, please post in your original thread...
Hey man, let's all pray for this guy, it's not easy taking a dump in the middle of a convention with everybody watching... even a ROM dump!
MrHappy
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the hacking forum you will find the grab_it tool, was also posted further up this thread.
Once you have renamed the file on the sd card you can no longer put it into your own device as it will dump that rom with the same file name (thus ontop of the ver 5.0)
Please write protect the sd card and use a PC to upload.
Go to the stand during a lecture when it will be quiet!
Quick question, once he has this "dump" how is it converted into something that can be loaded onto our devices?
IMO, this thread is a good thread to vent until MrHappy comes back with the goods. Then the XDA Dev Gods can start a new thread dedicating it to the new gift.
MrHappy!!
****. That's a really good point MDAIIIUser. That's a big problem with the automatic one. Hopefully he's read your posts and knows this, or never got the grab_it.exe altogether. It would be SO terrible for him to have the rom in his posession and then overwrite it.
I cant wait I cant wait.
I know this is a useless post but there's nowhere else to rant except infront of my brother who's can't understand what the fuss is all about.
MrHappy please do it pweezzz hehe
So am I, and I don't even have a BA yet....!
Oh well that's too much. Anyway the lucky Blue Angel is out of reach now. I hope the guys find it or someone who has it will be generous enough to give us.

Windows Mobile 5.0

http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=601
Brilliant source to find out about the up and coming mobile os. But my question is will we able to run this OS on the XDA IIs, Blue angel, SPV... well woteva u call them fingy ma jigs PDA fingies.
I say this because ive heard rumours that the OS makes use of more sophisticated hardware than that already available on the XDA IIs.
Oh baring in mind im reletively new to XDA development (looking to develop some groovy stuff for the lil monster using the good ol' trusty .net framework SDK)...
yay!
Erm, read the thread at the top of the page about WM2005 and the XDA2s.
Also, this chap is worth a read. It's my fave thread of all time!!

I have a buddy, with a WM2005 build on a blue Angel (Siemens Sx66), so Yes it will work. I have tried and tried to aquire this but he will not share this.... :-(

he is soooo not your friend, i say, get him sooo drunk, wait til he passes out, spike his drink if u must, then do a rom dump and draw on his face with a marker pen while you wait.
give us his address raptor and i guarentee well have the rom
Raptor, I think he's bullshitting you. If not, ask to see his phone for a second, and slip in and SD Card with the Invisible Rom dumper.
good ideas guys... he is serious though, I have seen it (with tight scrutiny)... he works for a wireless service provider that shall rename nameless. I used to work there as well so I know the consequenses he's facing ......
Still good ideas, still might have to try them.
Raptor
Do it!! I'm sure he can afford to take one for the team
Are you sure he hasn't just got the generic PPC WM2005, 'cos we really need the BA specific WM2005 (if I understand correctly)?

Educate Me, what's the difference and how would I tell?
Raptor
Don't worry about his question, Raptor, you already answered it correctly above. He just wasn't reading/paying attention.
Raptor, if you could get us a dump of this guy's rom, you would be forever famous, and we would all be very much in your debt.
Read here as to how:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=22861
Simply follow the instructions, and then insert the SD Card into his device, and BAM, rom dumped, secretly and invisibly. THen, take the SD Card back out, switch it to LOCKED, and then give us the .bin file it created, and we will all have WM2005 for our Blue Angels.
See if our good freind Raptor was some how able to obtain this lovely lil .bin file (the ROM), of the wonderful WM2005, hmm wouldnt that upset Mr.Gates in sum way? (Not that im really bothered or anything, cos im all for sharing, because remember, sharing is always caring ).
But cheers for the reassurance Mr.Raptor much appreciated, gna seek means of finding me self a copy (some nerd, some where must have a copy which he will surely borrow me, willingly or unwillingly... muhahahaha)
This reminds me of a thread with Mr happy which came to no avail
Well I do not want to get anyone's hopes of, the ideas to get him drunk and "borrow" his device were merely that, funny ideas. My message was mainly to inform all that contrary to what I have heard, it is working on the BA successfully. I will not be getting this build (unofficailly) from him as I respect his position @ the company and it would put him, his position, and the company @ legal risk.
Raptor
Damn. Oh well. I would, just in retaliation for these companies not offering us updates just to steal more money from us, and then lying about it.
Honestly, I have no respect for companies that provide sub-standard support for their products.
unless there's carrier branding, they would never know where it came from.
if not do it for your country
he said it was the SX66, so who sells that?? Cingular!!
His profile says he uses Bell Mobility South.
that's the same company
I SO knew that .

Fastest, Cleanest ROM

I have just had my stolen touch cruise (TC) replaced with this diamond ;(
I had Bepes ROM and PhamQuangs ROMS they were brilliant. The reason being they sped up the TC. I need/would like to do the same to the Diamond. Could anyone recommend the Fastest, Cleanest ROM? I am happy to install programs as and when I want them. It seems the more programs the slower it is. Seeming as this ppc has no external SD card we need to be really conservative!
I look forward to hearing thoughts on peoples experiences.......
Kind Regards,
Will

No "We" do not not need to be conservative at all. Just treat the \Internal Storage folder in exactly the same way as you would treat an SD card on a device that has one. Or to think of it another way. Just imagine your Diamond is your old device but it has had the SD card glued into it. No need to be conservative.
Also I suspect this thread will get killed too. Please look at the Read this before you Post message at the top of this forum.

Before it does get killed I disagree with the above largely because I had a 8gb micro sd card and was very excited about the 32 one coming out. I am unable to use my diamond as a great music machine which the tc was. once pointed out to apple enthusiasts the capabilities of the tc were then they were in awe of the htc engineering. Don't get me wrong this phone is phenomenal but it does not have the large storage.

Please, do not discuss things we discussed when the diamond came out, ok?
If really want to put in a SD Card, choose the Diamond Pro. Thats all...
this thread is pointless......
just like a broken pencil
hope the mods trash this soon.
only way to find out whats best for you is to start flashing.

Thats totally fine, cant argue with that. Maybe "You need to be really conservative" - "We" do not. I have more than enough space on my Diamond for my needs. I thought perhaps you were getting confused about how the memory is set up and how filling the \Internal Storage will not effect its speed.
Try an AZTOR rom. Fast, No added extras and reportably no Mp3 lag so would be good choce for Music. New version due any day reportedly.
Re the bloke in the frock. Discuss what you like, as long as it is within the forum rules. He/She does not have to read it.
Same applies to the chap with the pencil.
Time to change my Sig I think.
sorry - I should know better...........

Goodbye, and thanks for all the ROMs

My Hermes fried its radio chip over the weekend, and after much research and time, I've given it up. As much as I've loved this phone, and all the fun of flashing new ROMs, I had to go with a new phone. Work and family just won't let me go without one...
Thanks to ALL the chefs on here for their hard work, and the fantastic community that made XDA one of my top sites in my reader every day. You guys rock, and you do it all for love (and the occasional donation), and I really appreciate that. Please keep up the excellent work.
N
P.S. Anyone interested in a Hermes and/or extended battery? Works fine for everything but the cellular network (yes, WiFi works).
My friend it has been a honor! Peace!
thats to bad my man,why not upgrade to a more modern htc phon eand stay around on the forum family, btw if wireless works surely the radio is still alive?anyone know the answer?
anyho all the best and fare well
why does it screw up?
maybe you conect it an external anthenna?
or stay on a metallic place with wires all over your body? jajajaja forget it!
Am I heard something like a new Battery? does it is extended HIgh capacity batt? is new?
how much is it?
Hi. Did you read your PM?
Cheers
Well I'm another member saying goodbye to the Hermes section and relegating my trusty phone to the drawer.
I've splashed out on a very good condition Xperia X1 for £120 on ebay, (approx $190).
I'd just like to say thanks for all the work people have put in and all the advice given.
good! bye!
Thanks for been here

Its time to say Good-bye

Hello my Friends,
The time has really come to say Good Bye to all my Wonder Friends. I enjoyed and had a good time with all of you by learning/porting stuff.
I8150 is really a nice phone, but I needed to shift from this phone due to some reason.
Long story short, I spent half of my life in coding, leading teams of software engineers, managing enterprise level ERPs and architecting enterprise level application in all the latest and old languages/technologies. I took out some time and did some porting stuff, but my main target was to develop CM7 from sources.
I have most experience in Java/J2EE and less in C++. I tried to take help from different peoples but my bad luck no one guided me due to lack of time or just for no reason.
Not only from our forum I tried to contacted Exihibit II , Galaxy S Plus but I didn't get positive response, whatever the reason is but no one guide me. I searched myself and read a lot of material on net but not a single guide is perfect. There is no problem with Linux setup, I am use to of it.
I believe in Opensource and helping each other by spreading/sharing knowledge but in my case I couldn't search a person like this.
So I decided to switch (just not for CM7) to a device that have a lot of custom roms.
The porting I did is an asset for all of you. I want the guys should come up and take over the Roms from me. I hope you enjoyed my custom roms. If there is anyone who has some programming experience with smali/backsmali, apktool, understanding rom folders, hands on on merging /diff, ready to take risk of bricking then I will be happy to transfer my knowledge, but due to my tough schedule the person should be expert and self starter.
And finally I would like to special thank @arco, @andyroid, @irishpancake and All my Wonder community members.
Thank You All
i wish i had enough knowledge cuz i really wantd to learn from you but im just a noob at these stufff
but i hope u have a better experience with your new device

wow. wow. I was shocked for a while. what a sad news. how could it be? but thanks, so many thanks for your effort and big contribution in our little community, for porting good rom, for sharing knowledge and many help you did to us, thanks to make our wonder phone more attractive with the rom but yeah, sometime you must move to a larger box while you don't fit anymore in a small one. thanks again alidsd

Hi Ali dsd,
Please stick around as there's no one place or person to obtain this building -information in a reliable and complete form that we're looking for. I too got burnt similarly and still am in process of setting my own build environment based whatever that seemed to work for me from my captures from various blogs, forums and sites.
It's from open minded contributors like you that, when collectively packaged, would effective stuff come and came from. While I respectfully disagree this to be a reason for departure which is quite an expected risk with any open source stuff, I think your presence and continued contribution would benefit others looking to go along your route, though your participation might be less active than earlier.

Don't worry @andyroid, I am not going from XDA, I will be around , I will be checking W forums ( I haven't deleted it from my Fav ) time to time.
Amazingly my new device is not a high end device, Its just Nexus S. I think you will ask why ????
It will save my time . ... How ???? Mostly all types of Rom flavors are there, I just need to flash and use it, and the time I save from here can put on getting some certifications (like PMP, J2EE Architect and MCPD ). Its my decision and it doesn't mean that Nexus S is superior then Galaxy W.
Believe me or not but Galaxy W is an amazing device based on hardware it uses and the small size is very pocket friendly.

I am always here, i can be reached on PM or email.
I have already said that anyone who have some knowledge in porting can contact me , i will happily transfer my knowledge, because sharing knowledge is the major path to increase knowledge and community, but the person should have some experience.
I want someone to continue MIUIv4 and AOKP, or if someone come-up with their own porting version of any Rom then please ask Mod to delete my two threads.
I really appreciate all of your feelings.
Thanks,
AliDSD
Thanks for your great contribution ali, really appreciate it

HI alidsd, I understand you, cause I have your same motivation on developing. I studied information tecnology, so I have some knowledgies, but I'm new with android and I'm trying to do somenthing with my rom. I have your main target, build cm7 from source, but as u said there isn't a guide that really help in this, and for me is difficult to begin with it.
So now I have begininng to first port some mods to a gb rom, then to learn how to create a kernel and to port a complete rom. After these steps I like to begin cm7 from source, but I know is really hard.
I also have to say that it is demotivating to see there aren't much developers for our phone, that we haven't ICS from Samsung and at this time we haven't a complete ICS rom, while there is a new android version so probably i never work on cm7, too old...and for this, i was thinking it was better if I took a nexus s....however i can't change phone for now, so i continue to study and develop for my W...but in future the only phone i'll buy should be a nexus or a phone with more contribute from community...
Goodbye Ali and good luck with your new phone
Friend alidsd :crying:
I am so sad to see you are moving on....I know it will be for the better for you and your career!!!!!
Thank you for mentioning me in your OP, I really appreciate it.....
[I have been missing recently, due to that health issue....but things are OK, and will hopefully stay that way....God willing]
The old community loses another member with such skills, first qzem, KP, now you!!!! [apologies to any others left out, no offence!!]
All the best for the future, and do drop by whenever you get time, it was really good!!!!
Cheers man :good: :good:
yo alidsd,,
well i guess this is not a goodbye coz you're still gonna be around here:].,but still have to say thanks for all your great works by porting some wonderful ROMs..Wonder's forum still open for your advice anytime you have,,
happy porting buddy..
regards,
kidd
i was motivated by your words Alisd, i really was serious and dreamed to learn more about android, i wanted to try what bagux was doing but i ain't got enough time for it. i was amazed and never imagined that a person whose managing software engineers also tried tweaking our W XD i'm just a beginner software engineer about 6months old on work and specialized in VB and for some reasons i can say i also am at Cobol, i was still trying to learn now despite of the schedule i have and i am starting it on making android apps for now and maybe tweaking in the future. can i ask what company are you working?
UPDATE
UPDATE
I got rid of Nexus S and bought HTC Desire S. Most of you will be wondering Why ???, a lot of reasons. if anyone have interest to know then he can PM me.
I would suggest guys not to go for Nexus S now, its not a good time, it could be debatable but its my personal opinion. All of the Roms that are available for NS are also available for DS.
At last Galaxy W is a good phone, so please stick with it till you find a better phone according to your needs.
Because I have been part of this community so I thought that I should update my community.
Thanks,
I am glad to read opinions about me, you are all wonderful people.
@irishpancake, I am really concerned about your health , please take care, and update your health status so our community can pray for you. God bless on you.
I am happy to see that Alex (from Galaxy S+) has ported MIUIv4 successfully , and I hope he will also port AOKP and other CM9 based Roms from S+ to W.
Its great, I believe :
