BlueAngle/MDAIII BlackBerry Client and TMo is coming! - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Guys,
I heard from RIM that the BlackBerry Client will be ported to the BlueAngle early next year, no official timeline has been set. So hopefully we'll have it within 3-6 months.

WM6.5 official upgrade

Hi,
I thought I read somewhere HTC would release this upgrade for the tp2 today? Does anyone know if this is the case, and where to get it? I could not find anything on HTC's site re WM6.5.
Thanks.
Noone knows a thing. Everyone expects the release to be tomorrow. But since some providers are already releasing it today, who knows?
There isn't any hard evidence to say when it's going to come out.
This is on Microsoft's site, hope it makes things clearer

This clarify some things...
I asked htc tech support the 6.5 question. They responded in minutes. That's a response speed I certainly did not expect! Very good, though I'm sure they are fed up answering the same question...
They've advised they are currently dealing with the license packges from microsoft (whatever that means), but no release date was mentioned. Doesn't sound far away though.
Hi,
I have downloaded on HTC Support site an update for my TP2 from Orange.
The file is named RUU_Rhodium_Orange_FR-B2B_1.19.73.5_Radio_Rhodium_3.45.25.14_Signed_Ship.exe dating October 1st 2009....
Can anyone tell me if it's WM 6.5 ? Or just an update of my 1.19.73.3 (51489) WM6.1 ?
Thanks
EDIT : Stupid question after reading at Microsoft that the WM 6.5 availability date is not yet known....
Sorry
The release date for TP2 is Thursday this week.

Proof please.
Not possible. I know the Sales Representative for WM Norway. He told me. I have known the release dates for a quite long time now.
This is a message on HTC's website:
If you have a phone from Orange or another provider though HTC won't be providing the update (not too sure I have much faith in Orange to provide an update).

Availability
The HTC Touch2, Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 are available through selected operators across Europe now and will be rolling out to other regions in the coming months. The new HTC HD2 will be available soon with selected operators across Europe, before rolling out to other regions.
Notes to Editors
Customers with an original HTC Touch Diamond2 or Touch Pro2 will be able to update their phone via a new ROM which will be available from HTC’s website in the coming weeks at www.htc.com.

I just received it via email.
/\oops the person above me got it too. /\
Did anyone else wake up this morning to a 6.5 update?
No really, I woke this morning and slapped my TP2 to shut off my alarm to be alarmed myself, I had a Windows Update telling me to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5. I pretty much crapped myself at that point, it started off and gave my the orange installation screen, than after a minute or two it gave me an installation failed message.
After that I frantically tried running Windows Update but the connection timed out continuously. Just wondering if I am the only to receive this?
If this happens tomorrow I promise pictures, but was this an isolated incident? Or did everyone else get this via Microsoft?
As much as I want 6.5, I'm in no rush, the internet is on fire with "6.5 sucks" stories. I personally just want TouchFlo3D 2.5, that twitter integration is calling my name.

HTC sure plays spoil sport - with expectations.
(i know they never told they will release the update on 6th, but when a date was announced by microsoft the two companies should have worked together to release the updates for every phone in their list. This is so not good for their PR).
I really dont see how microsoft expects to win the mobile phone war. By the time they come out with WinMO 7, they will again be miles behind, if all they could manage was a shoddy job at winmo 6.5 which apparently has nothing great to talk about - except IE - and who uses it anyway!)
I stuck to winmo all these years, as 5 years ago it was a good business phone and it also supported bberry.
This year i finally split and bought a bberry as there was no update for TP2 coming for months. - again, its a function of marketing - keep customers happy. I know there has never been a promise by htc on integrating bberry software on winmo, yet, after a point, people start expecting.
Somehow these giants just dont get it when it comes to customer service and marketing. Microsoft has definitely lost a customer the day i split and bought a second phone which is a pure bberry. The next upgrade, i will skip winmo entirely and look at the offerings from android and webos...
live long and prosper microsoft - if u can!....
T-Mobile Germany released the update today:
http://www.t-mobile.de/shop/handy/0,4855,2963-_16608-0-8949;CNC-4,00.html
Yes, i've found it too. After uownloading and unpacking i got a file named "RUU_Rhodium_S_TMO_DE_1.85.111.1_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.05_Signed_Ship.exe". With 7zip i've seen, the date of the NBH is 17th of September, don't know which version they used.
But i don't want to have this (i guess) buggy and extremly branded system on my device. I'll wait for an unbranded HTC-release or one from O2(DE), these are nearly unchanged too.

Possible Release Date for WP7

I attended an event today where a rep from Microsoft was demoing Office 2010, and was talking to him before his presentation. I asked what he could tell me about Windows Phone 7 and one of the things he said was that it could be released around September 7.
This probably doesn't mean much, but a rumored date is slightly better than none at all!
Sounds early to me. I think they are targeting november-december.
Might be. WP7 is closely tied to the Zune software, and new versions of that usually come out in September. Also, the rumored release time for the LG Panther is also September.

I also read somewhere that the Zune service will go worldwide in September. I just can't find where I read that though, but it seems plausible.
I can see rtm in september but handsets not till winter
HTC Windows Phone 7 Series device coming this year, says Peter Chou
HTC has been a loyal Microsoft partner throughout the years (despite starting to make more Android smartphones), and it will, as we already know, continue the partnership after Windows Phone 7 Series is launched.
In a recent interview with Forbes, HTC’s CEO Peter Chou mentioned that the company expects to launch its first Windows Phone 7 Series handset before the year’s end.
While Mr. Chou didn’t disclose further details about the WP7 smartphone, he did talk about the Android-based Google Nexus One, which is manufactured by HTC and has been reportedly sold in about 150,000 units since launch.
While some think the sales of the Nexus One are below expectations, HTC’s chief says the smartphone “has been an achievement”, since Google’s goal with the handset was only “to really show how good Android can be.”
Back to the Windows Phone 7 Series device that HTC plans to launch before the end of 2010 – if it’s going to be anything like Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G (which, of course, runs Android 2.1), it will probably be one of the best WP7 handsets (at least for the beginning), don’t you think?

EXPENSIFY For Business Travelers

Hey I just got some awesome news -
Expensify is finally coming to the Windows Phone. I don't know why now - could be they were waiting on WP7.5.
I had used this program on Android and found it to be the cleanest, easiest and best organized program for uploading travel expenses and receipts and having it seamlessly woven to Expensify's online expense report client.
To tell the truth, I have only missed two things from Android - this and RocketBunnies..
I found out as I received an email from their marketing notifying me that I had no activity over the past several months and could I please let them know if there was any dissatisfaction? After I wrote back that I missed this program and only stopped using because of my move to WP7.5, two people within their group emailed me to let me know that they are in the finishing stages of a WP7.5 mobile application and to keep a lookout for it.
For more information on how the software itself works, go to www.expensify.com
Yep, waiting for 7.5
We depended on some Mango-specific features in order to port our custom cross-platform layer to WP. (I'd link to more info, but as a new user to this forum, it's preventing me. Alas, it's really cool!)
We coincidentally released both the iPhone and WP ports on the same day, so now we have write-once-run-everywhere on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone. Incidentally, as a current webOS user, I've been looking to jump ships -- I'm thinking a Titan might be nice....
Regardless, i'm glad you like the app -- write me at [email protected] if I can help in any way. Thanks!

Windows Phone Apollo

Hello. Is there any chance to get Apollo update on LG Optimus 7 in the future or this update will be only on new windows phone devices like nokia lumia ?
I don't know why you would expect people on a third-party site to know Microsoft's update plan for a release that isn't even in beta yet (at least not publicly), but hopefully Microsoft intends to support all first-gen WP7 devices for at least two years (the typical length of a phone contract in the US). Since significant updates seem to come out about once every 6 months, give or take a bit, I'd say there's a pretty good chance that Apollo will fall within that timeline.
Is there a particular reason you would expect an Optimus 7 to *not* get the update? It'll be a bit dated by then, but not outrageously. Apple supports two generations of hardware, and typically Microsoft is better about long-term support than Apple is. I realize most WinMo devices recevied few if any significant updates, but WinMo, like Android, was up to the OEMs to produce updates. Microsoft seems to be taking a *MUCH* more hands-on roll with WP7.
